Hi Creative Cutie.!This week I'm sharing something really personal with you. I recorded this episode right from my bed, no video, no script, just me and my heart. I've been going through a season of deep creative grief, and I wanted to take you inside what that actually looks and feels like. It's raw, it's real, and honestly… It was also super healing. In this solo episode, I open up about the changing tides in my creativity, what it means to close a long chapter, and how I'm learning (again) to make space for my inner artist to come back to life. If you've ever felt stuck, unsure, or like something in you is ending so something else can begin, you are not alone. From this episode, you'll learn: -What “creative grief” really looks like (and why we need to talk about it more)-How identity and creativity are deeply intertwined-Why the podcasting industry is shifting and how that's impacting indie creators-The cost of constant output and what it really means to take a creative break-Why your inner artist always returns when you're readyI also read you a personal journal entry I wrote as a love letter to my artist self, and maybe it'll speak to yours, too.Coach Dad (The children's youtube show I worked on): https://youtu.be/WrU6T_JIQT4?si=uW5k4LyJjyOkXlhD&t=256

Send us a text     There's an old saying: "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't."It's a fitting lens for this episode because sometimes, even when something is terrible, it's familiar. Today, we're going to examine two cases with a chilling common thread: domestic violence that didn't just leave bruises or broken bones but left behind permanent, life-altering disfigurement. And yet, perhaps even more shocking than the brutality itself... is that the victims, against all odds, took their abusers back.     We'll navigate the tangled web of trauma, hope, fear, and survival and in doing so, perhaps offer strength, courage, and a voice to those still trapped in the shadows of abuse. Send us a text     As Summer approaches, families look forward to road trips and vacations, while children relish the freedom of unstructured days—exploring neighborhoods, breathing in fresh air, and experiencing the timeless rhythm of boredom. These moments are cherished, often reflecting the summers we once had. For 10-year-old Kiaya Campbell, a spirited and strong-willed girl, this was no exception. But what happens when innocence is shattered? When are the trust and purity of childhood violated by someone close? This brings us to a haunting question: Are monsters born, or are they created? In today's episode, we delve into the tragic story of Kiaya Campbell, whose brutal murder challenges us to confront ideas of the complexities of human nature and the factors that contribute to such heinous acts. Adam's Paternity Leave continues, so we're unleashing the first part of a hellish two-parter (with the second half to follow next week). Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. After that first payment, you won't be charged again until we're dropping new content (which we'll warn everyone is coming), so if you want more of this it can be had, along with access to the fully uncut episodes from 100 to present and Movie Club episodes. What happens when the season from which light cannot escape—SVU's 19th—bestows upon the world a two-part finale? An unintelligible, unmitigated disaster. Reality and common sense fold in on themselves, and we're all left to try to make sense of the hellish mess that is “Remember Me” (S19E23). When character motivation, logic, and how technology actually works are entirely discarded, you are left with a confounding mélange of nonsensical dialogue and wild conclusions with nary a passing relationship to reality. Needless to say, this ride—a wild one for all the wrong reasons—gave the Munchie Boys plenty to discuss.Music:Divorcio Suave - "Munchy Business"Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, and Nourhane B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! Send us a text     Our case begins with a narcissistic mother, a woman who begins to see her children as burdens instead of sources of love, as the relationship begins to warp with resentment and distance. What begins is a dynamic of manipulation slowly becomes full enmeshment—particularly with one daughter, who starts to mirror the same self-centered behaviors where boundaries blur and the mother's sense of identity becomes entwined with her daughter's. The daughter, once seeking validation, begins to internalize her mother's toxic patterns, adopting them as her own, eventually becoming an extension of her mother's need for control, feeding off the same emotional chaos that once consumed her. Boundaries vanish, and the daughter now wraps her mother's narcissism around herself, a twisted bond where the lines between love and control fade, and whether she is merely an object to fill the emptiness in her mother's life. Send us a text     Sometimes, the most terrifying crimes are the ones that seem to happen without reason — crimes where the victims and perpetrators have no connection, no shared history, and no clear motive. It's the randomness that chills us to the core: the idea that danger can strike anyone, anywhere, at any time. These are the stories that unsettle us the most because they shatter our sense of security. We like to believe that if we stay out of trouble, trouble will stay away from us — but what happens when that belief is proven false? When violence arrives, uninvited and unexplained, it leaves a community shaken and a nation questioning just how safe we really are. Now, with new revelations, the story has only grown more complex.A case filled with shocking twists, unanswered questions, and lingering doubts—this investigation has never been straightforward. Yes, Mr. Arnold's death, Paul's going to Harvard, and Winnie to a long and successful career on the Hallmark Channel were all disturbing outcomes, but this is much worse. This SVU shows little Kevin Arnold beating, raping, and then re-victimizing women across the Upper West Side. This obviously provides tons of fodder for the Munch mill as we dig into a really great episode of television. Another week, another Adam's Paternity Leave release, this time we've got some of the best acting we've seen in MMB history. As mentioned last week, this is content that's been behind the Patreon paywall for a while. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. New Munchies can't join as paying members until that's unpaused, but you can join as a free member and at least be kept abreast of pod news...The Munchie Boys watched a helluva SVU featuring Oscar-nominee Stephen Rea turning in a truly spectacular guest performance in an episode featuring a slew of great acting and seriously interesting direction. This week's installment was “Solitary” (S11E3), and it's one of the most existentially introspective and unique shows that has fallen into our laps. And of course, judging by the title of this week's episode, other weirder stuff also got discussed, including Elliot's extramarital dip into formicophilia, a roach and its wrangler getting jobbed out of residuals, tide charts and greater New York water temperatures, and narrowly averted wartime disasters. If we're talking about how lots of people should have won Emmys for this episode, it's a special one.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Nikki B, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, Douglas P, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Kevin, Lily, Lucy, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Alison M, Whitney C, Alex, and Kaytlyn B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too!
