Oppa Gangnam Style! On this episode of Baconsale, we're putting one-hit wonders that were Classic around 7 Years ago on a bracket. We'll have many Little Talks to decide which tracks are Bulletproof and which ones don't deserve a Replay. We may leave some millennials Brokenhearted as we Say Something negative about a song they love, but Don't You Worry Child, we don't mean to make Waves. You just need to Let It Go. Joel, Kent, and Zack are going to Sail through this first round of 64 songs. However, we won't finish the tournament Tonight Tonight. It is Written in the Stars that we'll pick a winner next time (Like a G6). So say Geronimo, enjoy the Sweater Weather, and press play! Visit Baconsale.com to find our official Spotify playlist and download this bracket.
In January of 2011, 27-year-old first-grade teacher Ellen Greenberg came home early from work and was found dead hours later on her kitchen floor by her fiance. She had twenty stab wounds covering her body, ten of them to the back of her neck and head, and a ten-inch knife buried deep into her heart. The Medical Examiner called it suicide. Ellen's parents have spent fourteen years and over $800,000 proving that's impossible. Renowned forensic experts find evidence of wounds inflicted after death, a crime scene was cleaned before investigators could properly examine it, and a fiancé who called his attorney uncle before calling 911. Ellen was planning her wedding, loved her students, and didn't like the sight of blood. Can someone really stab themselves ten times in the back of the head? And if Ellen didn't kill herself, why won't Philadelphia call it murder?Sources:Hulu Documentary: "Death in Apartment 603: What Happened to Ellen Greenberg?"https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/13/us/ellen-greenberg-death-philadelphia-cechttps://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/03/us/ellen-greenberg-philadelphia-case-update-cechttps://www.cnn.com/interactive/2024/01/us/ellen-greenberg-mystery-dghttps://www.foxnews.com/us/ellen-greenberg-case-pennsylvania-woman-found-dead-20-stab-wounds-ruled-suicidehttps://www.foxnews.com/us/pennsylvania-teacher-found-stabbed-20-times-ruled-suicide-parents-fight-justicehttps://www.inquirer.com/news/ellen-greenberg-suicide-ruling-philadelphia-parents-lawsuit-20250210.htmlhttps://www.inquirer.com/news/ellen-greenberg-death-suicide-philadelphia-lawsuit-20241217.htmlhttps://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/ellen-greenberg-case-philadelphia-suicide-rulinghttps://www.oxygen.com/crime-news/ellen-greenberg-death-ruled-suicide-despite-20-stab-woundshttps://www.cbsnews.com/philadelphia/news/ellen-greenberg-case-pennsylvania-supreme-courthttps://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/ellen-greenberg-case-pennsylvania-supreme-court-to-hear-casehttps://people.com/ellen-greenberg-death-investigation-timelineBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/reverie-true-crime--4442888/support.Keep In Touch:Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/reveriecrimepodInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/reverietruecrimeTumblr: https://reverietruecrimepodcast.tumblr.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/reverietruecrimeContact: ReverieTrueCrime@gmail.com

There's a time travel theme to this latest episode of Film Stories with Simon Brew, starting with Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. Quite the story behind this, too. The distributor going bankrupt just as the movie was being finished, the year-long delay to its release, the audition that threw Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter together...? There's quite the story behind it all. In the early 2010s too, one interview ignited a whole conversation about a possible Doctor Who movie, around the era when Matt Smith was in the TARDIS. In theory, this would have been made in America, seperate to the TV show that was being put together in Wales. Things, er, went awry... Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This week, we're talking about three outstanding coming-of-age stories that capture the highs, lows, and messy in-betweens of growing up.First up, is The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), Stephen Chbosky's heartfelt look at friendship, trauma, and finding your place in the world. Then we move to Catherine Hardwicke's Thirteen (2003), a raw and unflinching portrait of adolescence and rebellion. And finally, we dive into Dídi (2024), Sean Wang's semi-autobiographical debut that beautifully balances humor, identity, and the awkwardness of early teenage years. Each film captures the heartbreak and the hope of finding out who you are on the way to becoming your true self.❗️SEND US A TEXT MESSAGE ❗️Support the showSign up for our Patreon for exclusive Bonus Content.Follow the podcast on Instagram @gimmethreepodcastYou can keep up with Bella on Instagram @portraitofacinephile or Letterboxd You can keep up with Nick: on Instagram @nicholasybarra, on Twitter (X) @nicholaspybarra, or on LetterboxdShout out to contributor and producer Sonja Mereu. This week, we welcome listener, weekly socials commenter, and all-around cool mother scratcher: Jeremy Patterson to the show for a round of our very special game called, “WILD CARD”! Robert and Jeremy go head-to-head in a very close game of: guess the band being played. Of course, we have the amazing InObscuria banner of logos as a visual aid for the players! You'll notice a lot of double-point bands from our “Aussie” category this go round as well. Pour yourself a cup of Toka-Cola, and play along…What is it that we do here at InObscuria? Besides conducting ridiculous game shows, we exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode, we take a listen to all 3, as we let our contestants pick a randomly obscure song by the decade in which it was released from a creatively curated playlist. We're so honored to have Jeremy join us, especially after all that smack-talking he did about being able to best our Aussie buddy Craig Elvin back on his game episode (ep. 226)! Can he back up his boasts? Find out! This week, NPR Music reporter Isabella Gomez-Sarmiento is back on the mic, bringing host Anamaria Sayre new music in the vein of her 2010s Tumblr era. Think emo bangs, bright blue skinny jeans and a Warped Tour T-shirt. Sonically, this week's picks run through bedroom pop, sultry balladry and Bronx-Dominican rap over post-punk basslines. When does Afro Blue and Smells Like Teen Spirit belong on the same record? When it's a Robert Glasper album! In 2012, Glasper's Black Radio brought together artists like Erykah Badu to bring a jazz standard, Afro Blue, back into the popular music canon. Black Radio hit #1 on the jazz charts, while simultaneously reaching #4 on the hip-hop R&B charts and #15 on the Top 200. The Blue Note pianist has been bending genres since the 90s, bringing together the best of traditional jazz and weaving it seamlessly with R&B, hip-hop, soul and rock & roll. And it all fits, because Glasper is equally at home in all of these categories. He grew up listening to all kinds of music, like Nirvana, Billy Joel, Busta Rhymes -- everything. Black Radio, he says, was a way to put his "life on wax". Rob Harvilla from 60 Songs to Explain the 90s: The 2000s joins Adam and Peter to dive into what makes this album great, and how it refutes from any attempt to categorize it. From the J. Dilla Influence, to Casey Benjamin's album-defining flute, to the Erykah Badu of it all, you'll never hear this album the same way again. And this album inspired what is possibly our best YHI outro yet. Let us know if you agree!
