On Ron's Amazing Stories! In this episode, Ron reviews Louis L'Amour's novel The High Graders. We follow this with two listener stories: Keenan's time slip tale and Raygan's baffling story of synchronicity. Both are amazing! Our featured story comes from the OTR series Tales of the Texas Rangers. While not a western it is a crime drama about a bad man's poor choices. All of the stories in this series are based on true Texas Ranger case files which technically makes them True Crime! So Ron gives his thoughts on True Crime and its place in our society. Featured Story - Logger's Legacy Our featured story comes from the western series Tales Of The Texas Rangers. The series was produced and directed by Stacy Keach Sr. He hired real life Texas Ranger Captain Manuel “Lone Wolf” Gonzaullas as the show's advisor. Each show followed the same format – an announcer would describe the situation. When the problem was discovered, the Texas Rangers were called in and Jace Pearson was assigned. Our story comes from the final season of the radio show and is titled Logger's Legacy. It first aired on February 4, 1951. Boomer Boulevard Old Time Radio Podcast with Bob Bro Show #118-B --- April 30, 2018 Welcome to Boomer Boulevard --- Memory Lane for Baby Boomers, but everyone is welcome! Join us for a nostalgic listen to the following old time radio shows: 1. LINEUP 9/26/51 "The Fur Flaunting Floozy" In this episode Ben and Matt investigate a murder. The victim is Lorraine Oberhauser, a woman with a less than sterling reputation. The number one suspect is her boyfriend, who happens to be married to someone else. This episode is also known as "The Lorraine Oberhauser Story." 2. LINEUP 10/4/51 "The Wild, Wild Woman Case" A man and woman are moving about the country robbing jewelry stores. As we get to know the couple in the developing story, however, you may just wonder if the jewelry store owners are the only victims. This episode is also known as "The Story of Irene Oldin and John" 3. TALES OF THE TEXAS RANGERS 5/27/51 "Joy Ride" When a teenage couple steals a car, robs a liquor store and kills the proprietor, more and more focus is placed on the female ring leader. "Tales of the Texas Rangers" often had really heinous villains and this episode is a classic example. The fun of "Texas Rangers" is listening to the logical procedure Jace Pearson follows each week to get his man (or girl). I have often felt that this program should be boring - but it never is. 4. GUNSMOKE 5/28/55 "Cow Doctor" When Ben Pritcher sends his son, Jerry, to Dodge City to fetch Doc Adams, Matt becomes concerned. It's a well known fact that Ben and his wife hate doctors. Matt's suspicions end up being well founded --- when Doc and Matt arrive at Pritcher's ranch they learn none of the Pritchers are ailing. This is an outstanding story. The scripts featuring Doc are often touching and heartwarming and this one is no exception. Enjoy the truly crystal clear sound quality in this episode. Come and share some stories, memories, laughs and tears. http://boomerboulevard.com email: bob@boomerboulevard.com This is an archive presentation of my Old Time Radio Show that was first broadcast on January 17, 2010.
