Today's episode features Harry from The Rideshare Guy Harry started down a very traditional path -- an engineer in a cubicle. Then in 2014, he started moonlighting as an Uber & Lyft driver. He started a blog and began sharing real data that helped drivers know the Do's / Don'ts and ultimately how to make more money. Today, his blog has an insanely large following and it continues to expand into more and more areas. He's also launched a course, Maximum Ridesharing Profits, to teach new side hustlers how to take advantage of the rideshare economy. Listen, learn, and let us know what you think about Harry's amazing ride. Episode Summary Harry's Journey to Side Hustling Harry remembers when he realized he could sell chips from his lunch as a kid His lesson was that when people want to pay for something you need to find a way to accept it Harry took a fairly traditional route career-wise He got an engineering job and worked the cubicle environment But Harry was used to entrepreneurial ventures From selling chips to doing laundry, and then driving Uber / Lyft on the side in 2014 Harry then goes over the moment he realized traditional employment just wasn't enough It was realizing a fellow employee had been working in the same building for 40 years He was also having a lot of fun driving for Uber / Lyft and making $35-$30 per hour The pay was higher back then as fewer drivers were available Finding a Career Via Uber / Lyft Harry never really wanted to drive for a living but enjoyed the process So he started The Rideshare Guy Here he would lay out very clearly and thoroughly all the things you should consider as a driver The blog started growing and surpassing the money he made in his regular job It also didn't seem scary because his boss left the door open to return Frugality and Lifestyle inflation Harry talks about how he is reasonably frugal but not extremely He also talks about how some lifestyle inflation is positive Nothing over the top but things that make his life more comfortable and less stressful Deeper info on Uber / Lyft and Rideshare Guy It's important to keep in mind the pros/cons One big benefit over a similar paying job is the flexibility It also gives you good practice to balancing accounts for running a business At the end of the day, all the things on the sites are just logistics Getting something from point A to point B He also talks about some of the locally specific gigs These may pay more and even come with more traditional benefits Getting the most out of being an Uber/Lyft driver Harry recommends a used fuel-efficient car, imagine a ~2014 Prius Then he talks about options that allow you to only do pickup/drop-offs along your route So you could add this into your normal day Then Harry talks about liabilities Different insurances and protections to keep customers from coming after your assets It's not worth ruining your life over a side hustle if you have a lot of assets If you don't have much to your name, it's a little less stressful Another good tip is driving weekend nights and workday commutes It's also important to keep up with miles to deduct those expenses from your taxes Check out his course, Maximum Ridesharing Profits, if you're looking for an all-in-one resource to crush the rideshare side hustle game Beyond Uber / Lyft Harry notes that most people only drive temporarily He wanted to start focusing on the jobs these drivers are transitioning to He's done a lot of coverage on transportation jobs like truck driving/taxi drivers Then other demand-based jobs that have similar setups But these are in completely different fields than transportation like a notary of the public These are all covered under the "Thinking Beyond Rideshare" category Key Takeaways Provide Value: Harry was successful because he gave a t...

First of all, please check out our cool sponsor, The War For The Tower podcast at www.warforthetower.com! ART CREDIT! https://www.deviantart.com/priscellie/art/RPG-Gruffs-200858597Hey you people! I am very excited to be starting Book 10 of The Dresden Files, and I can't wait to see what happens because to be honest I HAVE FORGOTTEN. These chapters were short (chapter 2 was like 3 pages long) so we decided to go ahead and cover 4 of them instead of the usual 3. The first thing to happen is an attack by what we later find out are Gruffs, and Bob is super tickled by the fact that Dresden was given two black eyes by a fairy story character. Then Harry goes to investigate a crime scene with Murphy, which is definitely arson, but seems to be some kind of strange pentacle, which could have been to summon something, to trap something, to open a door, or protect. Harry is a little shaken by it because whomever did this has managed to wipe their magical prints from the scene, which he didn't even know was possible. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!

There's a lot of set-up happening in this episode and I'm going to get right down to it. First of all, Harry and Murphy have an impromptu conversation about the future of their relationship and they wind up coming to the conclusion that they're not going to be compatible because her goals and his clash too often, and he's going to live for a lot longer than she does. Which makes a lot of sense, and I'm not mad at her. Then Harry gets into the set-up and strategy of his spell with Bob, and then...he gets decked in the face. Heh. Enjoy the show!

Hello my faithful little cherubs, and welcome to the last episode of Dresden Files for the year 2018! I will be taking a vacation next week, so there won't be another episode for a minute. If you miss us, show us how much by leaving an iTunes review and helping us rise in those algorithms. I'm so excited because we're getting a little deeper into the story and Harry meets Molly Carpenter again for the first time in a few years. Molly is all grown up, or at least pretty close, and she calls Harry in the middle of his huge, involved ritual to ask him to come bail her out of jail. Turns out she's full of shit, and it's her boyfriend who is in jail. Oh, Molly. Not a good first impression, girl. Then Harry tells Molly that he's taking her home to her parents' house, and although she tries to put up a fight, Harry makes no bones about threatening her into it. To top it off, by doing this Harry is agreeing to his first face-to-face meeting with Michael in two years, and Lasciel's presence in his head is making him very nervous. I hope you all enjoy the episode and I will see you in a couple weeks with a new episode!

Hey everyone! It's finally time for RoShawn and I to get started on the 8th book in the Dresden Files series, Proven Guilty! I am really excited about this one. I've been re-listening to it and there's so much about this one that I had forgotten! I can't believe how much happens in this book! These chapters are pretty intense, as Harry is getting to watch his first-ever execution of a young wizard who used black magic. He doesn't handle it well, physically or mentally, and winds up lashing out at the Merlin in a surprisingly controlled way that nevertheless gets across what contempt he feels for these people. RoShawn and I have to admit that maybe the contempt is misplaced, though, once we hear about what this guy did to warrant execution. Then Harry is approached by Ebenezer, who confides in Harry that there's some shit going on that he doesn't understand, and he wants Harry to look into it for him. Turns out that Winter hasn't been lashing out at the Red Court in the way one would expect, and since Dresden has some contacts in Faerie, he's in the best position to find out what's going on. Also, Lashiel "peddles her wares". Thanks for listening, everyone! See you next week with a new episode!

Hey there, you wonderful listeners you. I feel sure that I've used the art for this post before, but it's hard to find good fanart of Billy & Georgia, and the many of the Butters illustrations have spoilers. So please forgive me if I'm recycling. These three chapters are mostly Butters-free, because Harry drops the little guy off at his stronghold of an apartment (not exactly the fortress RoShawn was expecting) and goes to Bock Ordered Books to find a copy of a book that Grevane was tapping on his leg when he attacked Butters. That is where Harry meets Sheila, a lovely store clerk who thinks that Harry is robbing the place at first, then helps him to locate the super-rare and super-expensive copy of Die Lied Der Erlking. Then Harry gets jumped by two mysterious figures outside the bookstore, who try to take the book away, or at least try to convince Harry to destroy it. He's a little fascinated because the dark energy that surrounds them doesn't have the same nauseating quality that Grevane's did. Also, they seem to know more about the White Council and its vulnerabilities than Harry does. I hope you enjoy the episode, and I will see you in 2 weeks!

I'm very happy to have reached this trio of chapters because it contains some of my favorite reveals and surprises in the book. And one of them RoShawn is still kind of confused about when we start recording, so we talk it out until it makes sense. The main thing that we didn't see coming was that Father Vincent is actually a Denarian in disguise. The Denarian gives up his coin and uses the Mercy Loophole (TM) to get out of being executed by Sanya and Michael, and Harry CAN. NOT. HANDLE. IT. He actually gets into an altercation with Michael over it, and has to be reminded of exactly who the fuck he's dealing with. Cassius is smug as hell throughout, until he's reminded that Harry is not a Knight Of The Cross, and thus not bound by the same rules. He's reminded with a baseball bat. It is satisfying. Then Harry has to head over the duel with Paolo Ortega, and that goes about as well as you could expect, which is to say that Paolo cheats, everything spins wildly out of control, and a pack of vampires attacks while the Archive dispatches them with some well-placed Mordite.

Four time grammy award winner for best comedy album, Peter Schickele is Steve's guest. Creator of PDQ Bach, author, satirist, composer, musician, Peter's done it all. After the interview with Steve, he plays an original about a really lousy day he's having and Harry has an eraser. He erases Steve's finger then draws it back. Same with his nose. He can do it because with audio there are no consequences or karma. In fact, Steve and Harry can do anything without paying for it, and they do. Oh, they do. Then Harry sings an old 40's song and does some mean scat singing. Later, Steve helps Harry with a school test coming up. For instance: Steve- 'Harry, if you put your hand in one pocket and take out 38 dollars and you put your hand in the other pocket and take out 56 dollars, what do you have?' Harry- 'Someone else's pants!'
Harry’s Second TryThe next day the lady next door sang some more.Harry’s ears hurt more than ever.He went for a walk. After he had walked for a long time he heard a wonderful sound.“Oompah! Oompah! Oompah! Oompah!”It was low and lovely. Then Harry saw what it was.It was the big horn in the Firemen’s Band. The big horn was even softer and lower than the cows mooing.Harry walked along listening. He wished the lady next door would sing like the big horn. Then he saw the leader of the band. The leader threw his stick into the air.Harry watched.Suddenly he had an idea. The next time the stick went into the air, Harry caught it.Harry ran in front of the band. The leader ran after Harry—and the band ran after the leader.Soon the leader was all out of breath. He stopped running. But the band ran after Harry. The men played as they ran.Harry led them all down the main street of town. They passed the school, the library and the fire house.Harry stopped the band in front of the lady’s house. She was still singing. The big horn player played even softer and lower than before. He blew and blew and blew right under her window. But it did not do any good. The lady next door went on singing. She sang higher and louder than ever. When the leader got there he had Harry’s family with him.Harry gave the stick back. That night, he slept in the dog house again.
