Scott talks to Dave DeCamp about what's going on in the various corners of America's would-be empire. In Afghanistan, as predicted, the Taliban have been making gains against the Afghan government as the U.S. military withdraws—but the Biden administration's withdrawal is still tepid, as they plan to keep a small number of troops to protect the embassy and to keep funding the Afghan military until at least 2022. In Iraq, things might be even worse, since DeCamp thinks the recent announcement that the U.S. is ending its “combat mission” is nothing more than a PR move that redefines the mission without actually changing it. Scott and DeCamp also touch on Yemen, Russia, China and Israel. Discussed on the show: “U.S. Troops to Withdraw From Iraq—on Paper at Least” (Foreign Policy) “British Warships Enter South China Sea” (Antiwar.com) “US Air Force to send dozens of F-22 fighter jets to the Pacific amid tensions with China” (CNN) “Opinion | What Ben & Jerry's Has to Do With Israel and Cybersecurity” (The New York Times) “‘It shows that BDS works': Wafic Faour on how a group of Vermont activists got Ben & Jerry's to move” (Mondoweiss) “Poll finds a quarter of US Jews think Israel is ‘apartheid state'” (The Times of Israel) Dave DeCamp is the assistant news editor of Antiwar.com. Joining us for a conversation is Greg Johnson the CEO of Metallic Minerals one of three companies comprising the Metallic Group of Companies. In today's interview, Mr. Johson will introduce us to the La Plata Copper-Silver-Gold Project located just outside of Durango, Colorado within the historic high-grade La Plata mining district located at the southwest end of the prolific Colorado Mineral Belt. Mineralization is related to a large-scale precious-metals-rich porphyry copper system with associated high-grade silver and gold epithermal vein and replacement deposits. The district boasts bonanza grades for silver and gold. Metallic Minerals has just embarked on a 2,000 diamond drill program, the first in 50 years in the La Plata mining district. Then we shift gears and visit the flagship Keno Silver Project located in the Yukon of Canada, where MetalliceMinerals is currently conducting a 10,000-meter drill program. Then we conclude with the Klondike Alluvial Projects and find out the latest developments on the Metallic Minerals royalty portfolio. Has it been a year already?! Apparently it has, as SPC hits it's 52nd episode, and we circle back to one of the first characters we looked at way back in episode #2 – one Nicholas J. Fury. In 2014 good old “David Hasselhoff Nick Fury” had been shunted to the side in the Marvel continuity for his younger, blacker counterpart, “Samuel Jackson Nick Fury”, but Marvel wasn't quite done with the character just yet. Instead, they gave us this 8 issue mini-series and 17 million spinoffs, as characters across the MCU have their deepest, darkest secrets revealed after The Watcher is murdered and his eyes are stolen, containing all the world's secrets! If it sounds absurd that's because it is, but if you think that's out there, just wait until you find out what “sins” ‘old Nick Fury has secretly been up to all these years. Marc and Remso dig into all the sordid details as they battle their way through Marvel's “Original Sin!”
The global transition to green energy offers plenty of opportunities for savvy investors. Nick Hodge, a contrarian investor, author, and commentator, explains which metals and tech stocks to monitor. In our weekly segment with Inventa Capital, Michael Konnert, president and CEO of Vizsla Silver (TSX: VZLA), details the busy summer at one of the world's highest-grade silver projects: Panuco, Mexico.
Matt Kibbe sits down with Lily Tang Williams, a survivor of Mao's Cultural Revolution, to discuss her concerns about the direction America is going. Having fled the horrors of Chinese communism, Williams is dismayed to see public health officials openly admiring the Chinese government's authoritarian approach to disease control. Not only that, but the type of critical race theory being pushed in American schools resembles Chinese propaganda that seeks to divide people into “oppressor” groups and “oppressed” groups. We see Americans reporting each other to the government, as Mao encouraged his citizens to do, and the proposed vaccine passports resemble China's social credit system. Mao's policies ended up killing tens of millions of people; it's vital that we not repeat his mistakes here at home.

When she wrote it In this interview, she broke down for us what she's calling The Fandom Formula, which is "community x autonomy x equity." If you want to understand our economy is headed, you must understand the social dynamics, especially as they're mitigated by social technologies. Don't miss out on Zoe's insights on this matter. Scott interviews journalist Mark Curtis about his investigations into the UK role in the wars in Syria and Yemen. Regarding Yemen, Britain has long denied any involvement in that war, says Curtis, but it's now been revealed that they, like the U.S., have been helping the Saudi coalition for years. The precise nature of the help the British government is giving isn't exactly clear, but it likely involves the same things the Americans have been doing all along: training Saudi troops, assisting them with bomb targeting and providing weapons and spare parts, without which they could never wage this war. Curtis also reiterates just how desperate the situation is for the civilian population of Yemen, who have been facing what the UN calls the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Curtis and Scott also discuss the British government's efforts to promote regime change in Syria. Discussed on the show: “Revealed: The UK has spent £350-million promoting regime change in Syria” (Declassified UK) Mark Curtis is a British journalist and foreign policy analyst. While at FreedomFest 2021, Gene Epstein (of SOHO Forum) and I discussed intellectual property and other libertarian matters on the Pauls to the Wall podcast. Recorded July 23, 2021; released July 25, 2021.
Remso get's deep in this episode discussing the many hats he's worn and the many highs and lows he's encountered as a millennial in the job market. If you've ever felt you weren't good enough for something or that you might be too good for what's available to you, whether you're at a high point in your life or things just seem too painful, this episode is for all of you.
The entire We Are Libertarians Podcast Network for the first time, in-person, to record at the Boss Hog Of Liberty Studios in a fun conversation before heading to our annual pool party. After years of friendship online, everyone talks about their individual podcasts and how they got involved with the network. If you are new to us, this is a great starting point!
Remso and Tim Napier reunite to discuss blue-eyed Mongolians, missing Greek cities, lost explorers in the Americas, and more in this episode discussing the strangeness and uncanny history behind some of the world's "lost" civilizations.
In this week's Second Print Comics Podcast, Marc and Remso take a break from the format to talk about the latest MCU movie to hit theaters, Black Widow starring Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz and Florence Pugh. They also discuss what they've been reading lately, from Marvel's King in Black to DC's Infinite Frontier. But first…Remso has a rant to get off his chest about Marvel's recent “LatinX” mistake.
Matt Kibbe sits down with comedian Dave Smith, host of the Part of the Problem podcast, to talk about the diverse ways in which we can communicate libertarian ideas to the broader public. Smith uses humor and satire to skewer the absurdity of big government and its apologists. But in a crowd of 2,500 libertarians at PorcFest 2021, it's possible to find examples of just about every other strategy you can think of. Both Smith and Kibbe stress the importance of building a community of writers, artists, and public speakers, because your ideas are only as good as your ability to communicate them.

This time on Career Crashers, we're breaking out of the permission mindset. For most of us, 15,000 hours of K-12 schooling has led us to look for permission in everything we do. To follow directions, stand in line, and raise your hand to ask for permission. But when it comes to your career and the job hunt, the path to success is in the permissionless mindset. In this episode, Joel breaks down how to stop waiting for permission and take control of your own job hunt, career, and life. If you're looking for your next great opportunity, head to crash.co to get a free 15-minute job hunt consult call!
This week, we took another peek into the future of our civilization. Building on last week's episode, we dug deeper into the psychology of millennials, particularly as compared to both Baby Boomers and Gen X. There's a pretty fascinating reason why the social justice movement -- and its "cancel culture" cousin -- took off among millennials. We also discussed the history of the five-day work week, where the weekend came from, and what sort of workplace innovations could define the future work/life balance of both entrepreneurs and employees. This is part of a larger conversation about how our world will begin to rearrange itself throughout what we've termed the Great Transition. For those who value freedom and autonomy, understanding behavioral economics and the future of wealth generation will point you to where you should start moving now. As Wayne Gretzky said, don't skate to where the puck is now, skate to where it's going to be. If you enjoyed this conversation, please share this episode with someone who would enjoy it. Branko Marcetic discusses the stunning lack of mainstream media coverage of Julian Assange's case. Besides being the right thing to do, since Assange has heroically helped expose heinous crimes by many of the world's governments, journalists also have a selfish reason to care about Assange's plight: what he does at WikiLeaks is not categorically different from what any of them does when covering stories that originated from leaked documents. And yet nearly everyone in the press seems content to let Assange rot in solitary confinement. Discussed on the show: “The Julian Assange Media Blackout Must End” (Jacobin) “7/1/21 Bjartmar Alexandersson on the Lies of America's Star Witness Against Julian Assange” (The Libertarian Institute) Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media “Vault7” (WikiLeaks) “Baghdad War Diary” (WikiLeaks) “Collateral Murder” (WikiLeaks) “State Department Cables” (WikiLeaks) “The Kafkaesque Nightmare of Attorney Steven Donziger, a Literal Prisoner of the Chevron Corporation” (Jacobin) Branko Marcetic is a writer for Jacobin Magazine, a fellow at In These Times, and host of the 1/200 podcast. The world is on a dangerous path and preparing for doomsday tomorrow might be a good insurance policy, yet, it is far from a sustainable lifestyle for the true reality we live in. Remso speaks with Craig Eyermann from the Independent Institute, where they discuss Biden's insane spending levels, Jerome Powell's cautionary signals about the rate of inflation, and whether the Federal Reserve would truly force us into a Venezuela/Zimbabwe hyperinflation scenario. They also dive into the reasons why crypto surges when inflation increases and ultimately why Remso is taking the unpopular stance of defending traditional investing practices and the US dollar.
In this podcast I spoke with Mikkel Thorup from The Expat money show. We discuss: What is Birth tourism and countries where you can do it. Matt Kibbe talks to Martha Bueno, Candidate for Miami Dade County Commissioner and the daughter of Cuban immigrants, about the developing situation in Cuba, where locals are rising up in protest against government oppression. Bueno recounts the ways in which her whole life has been haunted by the specter of Latin American socialism, and explains what the situation is really like for people living in Cuba today. While American politicians like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continue to apologize for socialist policies, people who have actually lived it know that the answer is freedom, not socialism.
Ancient faiths and indigenous peoples across the world have long believed in the ceremonial use of psychedelic plants & fungi as a means of spiritual awakening and confrontation of trauma. However, the so-called War on Drugs has prevented these groups from being able to practice these rites and rituals without either mountains of red tape or fear of criminal prosecution. Decriminalize Nature wants to change that. Through education, advocacy and lobbying, they are trying to change the perspective on these entheogenic compounds and give these cultures, as well as those seeking to explore their inner space, the freedom to practice their spiritual understanding. About the Guests: Carlos Plazola studied biology and anthropology at UCLA to make sense of life on this planet. He lived with the Achuar of Ecuador to connect with deeper meaning and the sacred. He studied Environmental Science at Yale to understand the human impact on Earth's ecosystems. But he also needed to learn the tools to create change. Carlos' first career was as a community organizer with ACORN. He organized communities around social and environmental justice for seven years to learn community organizing. He also wanted to learn the tools of government, so he worked for a congressperson, and then became a chief of staff to a councilmember and ran political campaigns. Finally, Carlos wanted to learn the tools and logic of business, so he became a businessperson, grew several companies to over 50 employees, and became a developer to learn how to create the built environment. Today, he has the tools he needs. From here forward, he dedicates the rest of his life to creating spaces and movements that honor the beauty of life. Larry Norris, PhD is the co-founder and on the Board of Decriminalize Nature and helped to co-author the resolution that received a unanimous decision from Oakland City Council in June 2019. He has supported the successful passage of DN related policy in seven cities across the US and is currently supporting individual DN teams in roughly 45 cities to pass similar policy, as well as statewide legislation in 3 states. He is also the co-founder and executive director of ERIE (Entheogenic Research, Integration, and Education) 501(c)(3), a group dedicated to the development of entheogenic education and integration models. Larry holds a Ph.D. from the East-West Psychology department at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco; his dissertation reviews archived ayahuasca experiences to identify transformational archetypes and insights and consider their implications for integration. As adjunct faculty at CIIS, Larry taught a graduate course called Entheogenic Education: Contemporary Perspectives on Ancient Plant Wisdom in order to discuss the concept of entheogens as educational teachers and cognitive tools. He was also an adjunct faculty at John F. Kennedy University teaching a class titled Paradigms of Consciousness. A dedicated activist and proponent of cognitive liberty, Larry's efforts are a contribution to not only change the Western legal status of these powerful plants, fungus, and compounds, but also to emphasize the sacred nature of entheogens given the right set and setting.

When our Nomad Network members heard this episode live, they said it was one of the best shows we've ever had. Perhaps that's because we just finished reading two of the most interesting books we've ever read. The first one is “The Fourth Turning: An American Prophecy - What the Cycles of History Tell Us About America's Next Rendezvous with Destiny”, written by Neil Howe and William Strauss. They describe an 80-year generational cycle that has persisted throughout Western civilization since at least the 1400s. Written in 1997, the book predicts the 2008 housing crisis, and they predicted the COVID crisis, to within a few years of when both events actually happened. If we follow the pattern their theory describes, we should expect some type of major global total-war-style event over the next 3-6 years. Perhaps we're already in it. But that's only the bad news. The good news is, the cycle predicts that that major event will be followed by a restart of the cycle into an era of peace, prosperity, and growth, a la the post-war era in America (1946-1963). The second book is called “Wanting: The Power of Mimetic Desire in Everyday Life”, by Luke Burgis. The book draws on the seminal work of French polymath Rene Girard, who introduced the concept of mimetic theory to the world. According to Girard, we are driven by our desires, yet we don't arrive at these desires independently. We learn both how and what to desire by mimicking of other people. Like gravity, mimesis is a powerful force that always affects us, even (especially!) when we aren't aware of it. When you combine these two concepts — the fourth turning and mimetic desire — you create an incredibly powerful tool for both predicting the nature of the next crisis and identifying the best path through it. You don't have to to go through the next crisis. You can just opt out. The choice is yours. ****** + Give your business an unfair advantage in less than 3 minutes a day. Time and time again, libertarians ask themselves "why aren't others immediately buying into my great ideas?" Remso is joined by sales expert Brian Nichols ("The Brian Nichols Show") who has just released a new ebook targeting why people don't listen to us, who our target audience is, and how to earn the respect and votes of those coming around to our way of thinking.
I sat down with my friend Aaron Voisine, of BRD (formerly Breadwallet), to discuss how the average worker/saver would invest and save in a Bitcoin world. Would they hold some stocks? Real estate? Bonds? Or would they keep close to 100% of their savings in cash, as many bitcoiners seem to assume? And related issues. I doubt people would keep most of their savings in cash since they would chase higher returns and also diversify away from some risks unique to monetary assets. Voisine dissents. I have questions, not answers, while Voisine thinks he has answers.

In life, there are many important topics and questions, but at the end of it, there is probably only one- what happens when you die? To talk about this, Remso enlists Mike Feuz and Logan Albright from the Last Call podcast to jump into this dark and mysterious topic.
I love podcasting as much as I love politics, and I am starting a new show to walk you through my podcasting method. Listen to the first episode then subscribe here – link.chtbl.com/podcasting-and-platforms! Where do I begin? This is often the first question asked by a new podcaster (and old ones looking to start a new brand). This question usually paralyzes someone looking to start a show. They'll look at other shows, see 4 years of growth and think, “I have no idea how to replicate it.” Or, “Who would listen to me? I am not an expert.” This resistance is completely normal, but it isn't an excuse for procrastinating. In this episode, I talk about the 5 or 6 years of talking myself out of starting this show because I want you to know that is a common reason people never begin. Whether you want to run for office, start a business, or just live near people who share your ideals, the Free State Project hopes to create an island of liberty apart from the increasingly polarized and authoritarian tendencies gripping the rest of the country.

Mark Perry discusses the bizarre case of the Stryker, a vehicle used by the U.S. army to transport infantry troops to the battlefield. The Stryker, Perry explains, is a deathtrap: it isn't heavily armored enough to stand up to real combat, it rolls over easily and it can't withstand IEDs or tank rounds. What's more, everyone seems to know this. And yet the Pentagon is spending nearly a billion dollars on a new contract, not to give the Stryker better armor, but to put machine guns on it. Perry describes this as putting a tourniquet on the wrong part of the body, and is emblematic of the kind of wasteful spending that has been draining America's treasury and putting lives at risk for decades. Discussed on the show: “The Stryker is a ‘deathtrap' but you're paying for it anyway” (Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft) “The Outpost (2019)” (IMDb) “The Pentagon Wars (TV Movie 1998)” (IMDb) Mark Perry is the author of Talking to Terrorists: Why America Must Engage with its Enemies, The Most Dangerous Man in America: The Making of Douglas MacArthur, and The Pentagon's Wars.
