The mayor of Olive Branch, Mississippi is not a very big Dolly Parton fan. Mayor Ken Adams is making national headlines after he refused to lower the American flag to honor the Queen of Country Music. Mayor Adams says that there’s no doubt Dolly brought joy to millions but he says to lower the red, white and blue would diminish the gesture’s significance. The mayor says the flag should only be lowered to honor military heroes, first responders and presidents. The reaction has been somewhat insane. The New York Post picked up on the story – and thousands of people are commenting on social media. Most overwhelmingly object to the mayor’s decision. President Trump and Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves ordered that US and state flags be flown at half-staff for one week to honor Dolly. But under Home Rule, Mississippi allows cities the right to control their own internal affairs – which is why Mayor Adams thumbed his nose at President Trump and Gov. Reeves. A guy goes into a Best Buy the other day to purchase a laptop. He’s at the checkout asking for some help, which apparently he got. So, the man said to the clerk, “Thank you, sir.” But it turns out the sir – identified as a ma’am. That’s right, folks. The Best Buy employee happened to be transgender. The worker became enraged and defiantly told the customer that he would not sell him a laptop unless he called him “ma’am.” The customer pulled out a cell phone and recorded what happened next. The Derby High School yearbook also included a message that President Trump is the worst president in American history. Back when we were in school – the yearbook celebrated the best dressed and most likely to succeed. At Derby High School – they are celebrating the most likely to become a domestic terrorist. Sounds like the Derby school yearbook is being edited by former employees of The New York Times and Washington Post. Dr. Anthony Fauci is now being called the Dr. Frankenstein of the modern era. Trump senior adviser Peter Navarro told Fox News that Fauci has the blood of millions of people on his hands. Senator Rand Paul, the Republican from Kentucky, just released more than a thousand pages of diary entries from Fauci – showing that the doctor was fixated on press coverage he received during the pandemic. One journal entry noted that Fauci said his star outshone even President Trump. Of particular note – Fauci emphatically said he had nothing to do with the closing of schools across America. However, in Fauci’s own journal he took personal credit for telling the mayor of New York City and the governor of California to shut down public schools – as well as restaurants and bars. Turns out the Smithsonian has all sorts of woke exhibits and ideology. Did you know that being polite is a form of white supremacy? Or that you can purchase a children’s story book that includes pictures of two boys lusting after each other? They also share Latino Power merchandise. To illustrate the absurdity – imagine the outrage if they sold White Power merch. What’s puzzling is why you can purchase gay-themed books at the Smithsonian gift shop – but you can’t purchase a copy of the two books that most influenced the Founding Fathers – the Holy Bible and Thomas Paine’s Common Sense. A culinary controversy in Georgia. Rick Jackson – the Republican nominee for governor – stopped by a black-owned restaurant. And now the owner of Toast on Lenox is facing a boycott. Tamara Young is the owner of Toast on Lenox. She has since deleted a photo she posted when Jackson dropped by for a visit. Former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms poured gasoline on the fire by saying anyone who welcomes her opponent has made a calculated decision and should understand the risks. Bottoms is the Democrat nominee for governor. During the China Virus Pandemic – the policies enacted by Mayor Bottoms led to the closing of more than 100 small businesses. And now she wants to shut down any business that serves a Republican. Mr. Jackson issued a statement saying he’s going to fight for all Georgians – no matter their zip code or party affiliation. FBI agent Nikki Floris wrote in a text chat that "I'm basically running a shadow government across the FBI at this point." That was one of the more shocking revelations discovered by President Trump. And there were also elements within our own government that had been working during his first term in office to undermine and sabotage the president and his agenda. Tamboli’s Pizza and Pasta is a popular restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee. The other day four young National Guard troops showed up hoping to get a slice or two. Instead, they were shown the door. The staff at Tamboli’s ordered the troops to leave. Eyewitnesses report that other diners cheered as the young men were publicly shamed and kicked out of the restaurant. Social media is filled with memorial and tributes just about every time a lawmaker dies. And more often than not – the pundit crowd begins their posts with a caveat: “I did not agree with Senator so and so, but…” or “We disagreed on everything and he was a sorry so-and-so, but...” If you have to qualify your tribute or memorial – it is not a tribute.
