It's the very 57th episode of Forsaken Cinema Podcast!!! This week, we sit our fine asses down to discuss the new John Krasinski joint “A Quiet Place 2”. And while neither of us thought it was really any better or worse than the first one, it does manage a “recommend” from both of your hosts for being a mostly entertaining PG13 monster flick, with only a couple of glaring plot holes, and maybe 1 or 2 head scratching character decisions. We also take a stroll down memory lane into the classic Dark Castle Entertainment film from 2001, “Thir13een Ghosts”!! And while we both are immensely entertained by this over the top, displaced-spiritual-energy-flick, we are NOT apologists. This movie is big, loud, flashy, pushy, and DUMB. But GODDAMMIT it's a good time! Anyways, this is kind of a weird episode with some excessive side-tractions (remember when Melissa said that?), lots of off topic discussion, and an intro about lawn mowing that goes on way too long… But we had tons of fun and we hope you freaks do too!!! ——— Also discussed: “Bloodsucking Bastards” 2015 “Jennifer's Body” 2009 “The Hills Run Red” 2009 “Skull: The Mask” 2021 (Shudder) ——— If you dig the show, PLEASE! Surprise! It's a bonus episode of FRIGHT SCHOOL! Joshua kicks the episode off with some sad news, but also a recap of his appearance in DARK HILLS EVENTS' CABIN IN THE WOODS REMOTE EXPERIENCE. It was a really fun time and you can rewatch it now on their page! The bulk of this episode is recapping the SHUDDER Comic-Con@Home panels "Scary Good TV" and "Horror is Queer'! It's a bummer to miss out on Comic Con this year (damn 'Rona), but this was a fantastic alternative. Scary Good TV, moderated by the incredible Tananarive Due, is an enlightening discussion of the state of horror on television and the complex demands on this type of storytelling. Horror is Queer is definitely our favorite of the two panels, but we might be a little biased. Nay Bever from Attack of the Queerwolf stole the show with an excellent discussion of monstrosity! We stan you Nay! Please join us here in the Wes Craven Remote Learning Center sometime, won't you? Check out the panels on YouTube NOW! Season's Grievings, Fright School! We're celebrating Scary Cryptmas in JULY! We welcome the Jersey Ghouls to the show to chat about ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE! First the group chats about their states' quarantine measures. Joshua and Joe come for Arizona like they're Spirit Airlines and this is FINAL DESTINATION. Marissa has a real THE SHINING situation brewing. All Disney and No Horror makes Marissa... you know the rest. Jacki is getting caught up on television that was all the rage 20 years ago with CHARMED. Of course, this excites Joe to no end and we are now dangerously close to becoming a CHARMED recap podcast. Joe catches us up on the state of his Special Man Friend's Queer education. We get into the spirit of Cryptmas with the "British Christmas Zombie Musical" ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE. It's a ballsy movie with a lot of heart (a bloody, pulpy mess of one, but still it's a heart!) and it's a fun ride. It gave us SHAUN OF THE DEAD meets ONCE MORE, WITH FEELING meets HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL meets ROCKY HORROR meets DAWN OF THE DEAD. It's A LOT is what we're trying to say. But also just enough. Check it out and show it at your holiday party if we get to ever have those again... Welcome back to Fright Schooooool! We are wrapping up our PRIDE 2020 Celebrations with DEATH BECOMES HER! We welcome back to the studio Adriane and her Puglic Defender Minnie! SO much has been going on. Check the show notes for all of our latest guest appearances! Joshua definitely would attend the opening of an envelope if it means he can leave the house, but he'll be gargling Duncan Hines Creamy Dark Chocolate Fudge Frosting in the mean time. Joe is overdosing on LORD OF THE RINGS and Adriane is getting her adventure on with INDIANA JONES AND THE DISSOLVING NAZIS, whichever movie that happens in. The group tries very hard to have fun with DEATH BECOMES HER, but can't help a deep dive into the media's exploitation of all of our insecurities, warped standards of beauty, and Queer love of the Complex Toxic but Fabulous Diva. A Queen once asked "Who wants to live forever?" These queens have a whole lotta questions for what EXACTLY it entails. "NOW a warning" is just not the tea, honeys....
