It's Monday, December 29th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes written by yours truly and heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. Filling in for Adam McManus, I'm Ean Leppin. (Contact@eanvoiceit.com) Trump Orders Airstrike Against ISIS Militants in Nigeria President Donald Trump ordered an airstrike against ISIS-affiliated militants in northwest Nigeria on Christmas Day!  Persecution.org reports that Christians in Nigeria have faced ongoing attacks with minimal support from the international community until recently.  In the first 7 months of this year alone, more than 7000 Christians have been killed, an average of 35 per day.  President Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the ISIS militants have been, ‘viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians.'  Christmas Celebrations Return to Bethlehem and Nazareth FOX News reports that Christmas celebrations returned this year to both Bethlehem and Nazareth.  In Nazareth, where Jesus grew up, festivities were rooted in a growing Christian presence.  In Bethlehem, where Jesus was born, celebrations took place after more than two years of disruption.  Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics reports that over 184,000 Christians live in Israel as of Christmas Eve of 2024 a growth of 0.7%.  This makes Israel one of the few countries in the Middle East where the Christian community continues to grow. This is good news!  However, Heather Johnston, founder and CEO of the US Israel Education Association said, ‘At Christmas, the contrast between Nazareth and Bethlehem tells a larger story.  Christians are flourishing in Nazareth under Israeli rule, while in Bethlehem, under Palestinian Authority, the Christian population has been shrinking for years.' In fact there were reports for multiple incidents targeting Christians in the week leading up to Christmas for those living under Palestinian Authority areas, like Bethlehem.  Israel's Foreign Ministry responded by warning of, ‘growing hostility toward Christians'. Continue to pray for believers in Israel. James 1:2-4 says Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Massive Financial Waste in the US News of massive financial waste has surfaced from The Office of Audit Services.  The watchdog report was released last week.  It showed that over $207.5 million was issued in managed care payments on behalf of deceased enrollees between July 2021 to July 2022.  American Family News reports that a new provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill will require states to audit their Medicaid beneficiary lists to help reduce these payments in the future.  In fact by 2027 it will be required that Medicaid agencies practice quarterly audits of their beneficiary lists. Barna Releases List of Top Trends in 2025 Barna Research released their list of the top 10 trends, or most read, reports of 2025.  Here are the top 3.   3)  Women and Men Experience Church Attendance Differently. A report released in October.  The conclusion of the report shows that of 2025, 43 percent of men and 36 percent of women report attending church regularly, based on reported weekly attendance.  In 5 of the last 6 years, men have outpaced women in this key measure of religious engagement and the 2025 gap is the largest measured.   2) Young Adults Are Leading a Resurgence in Church Attendance. A report released in September.  This report shows that Millennial and Gen Z Christians are attending church more frequently than before and more often than older generations.  The typical Gen Z churchgoer now attends 1.9 weekends per month, while Millennial churchgoers average 1.8 times, representing the highest attendance levels among young Christians since Barna began tracking them. 1) Belief in Jesus Is Rising - Especially Among Younger Adults A report released back in April.  The study reveals that 66 percent of all US adults say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus that is still important in their life today.  That marks a 12 percentage point increase since 2021. We celebrate a growing number of people following the Lord with Psalm 100:1-3:  "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.  Know that the Lord is God.  It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture." YouVersion Bible App Reaches One Billion Downloads And finally, CBN.com reports that it has been a big year for the YouVersion Bible App in 2025.  The app hit a huge milestone of having one billion downloads!  YouVersion has seen a 27 percent increase in daily use in Sub-Saharan Africa and a 33 percent increase in daily Bible engagement in North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.  It also reported a 14 percent increase in North America.  So what was the most read verse of 2025?  It was Isaiah 41:10 that says, So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. The year marks the fourth time in six years that Isaiah 41:10 has claimed the top spot. CEO Bobby Gruenewald says, ‘In a world full of anxiety and uncertainty, people are drawn to God's promise to be with us, to strengthen us, and to help us.  That message never gets old because the need for it is universal and timeless.'   Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, December 29th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. Anglotopia is reviving its online store after ceasing imports. 2026 marks Queen Elizabeth II's 100th birthday with special events. The Bayeux Tapestry will be exhibited at the British Museum. Celebrations for Beatrix Potter and other British icons are planned. New museums, including V&A East, will open in 2026. Winston Churchill's paintings will be featured in an exhibition. Theatre performances in London's West End are highly anticipated. Planning ahead is crucial for Anglophiles traveling to Britain. Joining the Friends of Anglotopia Club supports British culture. Sound Bites 1. The Big Commitment (Line 38) "So we closed this deal about a month or two ago and that's a big deal because now I have to do it. There's people counting on me to do this. Macs Adventure is counting on me doing it, my business is counting on me to do it, so I have to do it. I don't have a choice." 2. The Challenge Ahead (Line 14) "It involves physically preparing to walk 84 miles on purpose. And I, as you can see, I'm not in the best of shape. So the idea of walking so many miles is kind of daunting to me." 3. You're All Coming Along (Line 44) "That's the big thing for Anglotopia in 26 is I'm walking Hadrian's Wall. I don't have a choice and you're all coming along for the ride with me." 4. Personal Health Stakes (Lines 26-28) "It's for my own health. I'm not in great health. Preparing training for the walk will improve my health and having done it will also improve my health, and I'm hoping that it kind of ushers in a new era where hopefully once a year I do one of these famous long distance walks in Britain." 5. The Bayeux Tapestry Coup (Lines 105-106) "I don't know how they got the French to agree to this. Apparently it took years of negotiations, but the Bayeux Tapestry is gonna leave France and come to the British Museum for a special exhibition. One hopes they give it back when they're done." 6. Queen Elizabeth 100 (Lines 80-82) "April would have been Queen Elizabeth II's 100th birthday. And so we're expecting a lot of commemorations around that… It'll be a chance for people to kind of reflect and remember the lovely days of the reign of Elizabeth II." 7. The London Museum Opening (Lines 166-168) "It might almost be worth making a special trip for—not just because I like London's history, but it's to see the building itself. The Smithfield Market is an architectural jewel of London." 8. Churchill's Painting Secret (Lines 185-186) "He famously used it to help cope with his mental health, because when he was having the most troubles, he would just go paint, and he would find solace in painting." 9. Television Turns 100 (Line 112) "Many people don't know that a Brit actually made invented television. And so January 26, 2026 will mark the 100th anniversary of Brit John Logie Baird's first public demonstration of television in London." 10. Yes Prime Minister Passion (Lines 220-222) "Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister are my favorite British comedy show of all time. I've watched it a dozen times over and over. Scotland - Christmas and New Year Traditions - For centuries, New Year (Hogmanay) has been revered over Christmas celebrations

Unique Scotland

Imagine Scotland locked in winter's grip: snow whispering across cobbled streets, hearth fires glowing against the dark, families drawn close for warmth. While much of the world fixes its gaze on Christmas Day, Scotland's true winter soul once beat loudest on another night entirely — Hogmanay, New Year's Eve. Ancient, fierce, and alive with ritual, Hogmanay was not simply a celebration. It was survival, identity, and hope rolled into one blazing night. No one knows exactly where the word Hogmanay comes from — perhaps Old French, perhaps Norse, echoes of Yule carried on northern winds. Its origins hardly mattered. The Scots claimed it and it has flourished ever since. In 1560, the Scottish Reformation reshaped the nation. The newly formed Presbyterian Kirk condemned Christmas as a "Popish" feast, and by 1640 Parliament had banned it outright. December 25th became an ordinary working day. For generations, there were no Christmas trees, no carols, no gifts — only cold labour and dark skies. But celebration did not disappear. It moved - to the New Year. Hogmanay became Scotland's great release — a night of fire, song, and superstition when the year itself could be cleansed and reborn. Homes were "redded": floors swept, ashes cleared, debts settled. Only a clean house could welcome a clean future. As midnight approached, the world seemed to hold its breath. Then came first-footing. The first person to cross a threshold after midnight would shape a household's fortune for the year ahead. It had to be a tall, dark-haired visitor — a lingering memory of blond hair Viking terror — carrying gifts heavy with meaning: coal for warmth, bread or black bun for food, salt for flavour, a coin for prosperity, and whisky for cheer. Doors opened. Glasses filled. Neighbours moved from house to house, laughter growing louder as night blurred into morning. Across the Highlands and islands, fire took centre stage. Ancient pagan echoes flared to life as flaming rituals lit the darkness, burning away evil and calling back the sun. Nowhere is this more vivid than Stonehaven, where huge blazing fireballs are swung through the streets by locals - a spectacle of raw power and communal joy that has endured for centuries. Today, Hogmanay has burst onto the world stage. Edinburgh ignites with torchlight processions, roaring street parties, and fireworks crowning the castle sky. Visitors from every corner of the globe feel it — the pulse of something older than the city itself. And yet, beneath the spectacle, the heart remains unchanged. At midnight, hands link. Voices rise. Auld Lang Syne carries across streets, hills, and glens, a song of memory, friendship, and shared humanity. The old year is released. The new one welcomed with thunderous cheers. In Scotland, Hogmanay is more than celebration. It is defiance — a promise that even in the deepest winter, fire will burn, songs will be sung, whisky will warm the blood, and hope will return. It is the past roaring into the present, daring the darkness to linger. So if you ever stand on Scottish soil as the year turns, wrap up against the cold, learn the words of Auld Lang Syn, raise a glass — and step into a night where history, community, and joy collide in one unforgettable moment.

What if the quiet ache beneath your busyness, stress, and exhaustion is really a longing for joy? Not hype. Not fleeting happiness. But a joy that lasts, even when life feels heavy. In this Advent message, we explore how Christmas doesn't give us instructions to find joy, but an announcement that joy has come. From Luke 2 and Romans 15, we're reminded that joy isn't something we achieve through better circumstances or stronger emotions. It's something we receive when we remember what's already true in Christ. If you're tired of joy that fades, weary from trying to manufacture excitement, or longing for a joy that doesn't require you to perform, this message is for you. Discover how true joy grows as we trust the good news: you are fully forgiven, deeply loved, completely secure, and never alone...because the Savior has come.DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:Where do you most notice joy fading in your everyday life?Which of the “indicators” stood out to you the most, and why do you think that one hit close to home? (Celebrations not sticking, emptiness after getting what you wanted, exhaustion from manufacturing excitement, nostalgia, or performance pressure.)How have you typically thought about joy before this message? More connected to circumstances, feelings, or something fragile?Which gospel truth feels hardest for you to trust right now? (Fully forgiven, united with Christ, deeply loved, secure, or complete. What makes that one challenging to believe?)What might it look like for you this week to “watch the video” and remember what is already true?+ + + + +Hey, while you're here, please help Generation by clicking the 'Subscribe' button, then click on the BELL

Inside of two weeks before Christmas, people are likely seeing houses light up with holiday decorations. But this time of year, there are lots of different celebrations happening in Northeast Ohio, given our region's vast diversity of cultures. For the Jewish community, Hanukkah started Sunday night. The Latino holiday Las Posadas starts today, then there's the upcoming African American holiday Kwanzaa at the end of the month. In early 2026, there's the Lunar New Year celebrated by some Asian cultures, and Ramadan, celebrated by Muslims, and the list goes on. On Tuesday's "Sound of Ideas," we'll talk about how there's a lot to be gained by learning about each other's cultures, at a time where there's also a lot of fear for these communities, with violence and threats against certain cultural groups on the rise. For example, just two days ago, gunmen killed at least 15 people in Australia in what authorities are calling a terrorist attack during a Hanukkah celebration. The "Sound of Ideas" team planned this conversation before this latest tragedy, to highlight our region's multicultural landscape, and allow audience members to learn from and connect with people who are different from them. It is with that spirit that we have this conversation.  Celebrations are powerful cultural signals. What we choose to mark, elevate, and honor tells people what truly matters in an organization.  Nearly every cultural or religious tradition celebrates something this time of year, reminding us that humans are wired to pause, connect, and acknowledge progress. The same is true in the workplace.  Yet many of us struggle with this. We forget to mark milestones, skip over achievements, and move on to the next task. The research is clear: celebration isn't frivolous; it's foundational. Celebration has transformative effects for individuals. A Socialcast study found that 69% of employees would work harder if they felt more appreciated. Celebration cultivates mutual uplift, shifting recognition from self-promotion to shared success. It increases visibility in a fast-moving workplace, helping people avoid anonymity and reinforcing a reputation for competence. And the act of pausing to reflect on accomplishments strengthens self-awareness and personal growth.  Celebrations boost morale, engagement, and loyalty while reducing turnover. They signal emotional safety and genuine appreciation—key ingredients of a healthy culture.  And celebration doesn't have to be elaborate. A recognition wall, a spontaneous team breakfast, a surprise treat, a personalized note—each small gesture plants a seed. The point isn't perfection; it's intention. When we celebrate, we tell our people they matter—and that changes everything.  Listen in for celebrations stories from Crina and Kirsten - so fun successes and some horrible warnings.
