Alan McIlhenny shares the story of following the Lord to the Seychelles, Nepal, and all over the world to bring quality education and the hope of the gospel. Through twists and turns, God was faithful to direct their steps and provide for their needs in miraculous ways. "I grew up reading stories of missionaries. I never thought I could be a missionary [...] I didn't think I was good enough or holy enough." "I've accepted a job in the Seychelles. Can you find out where we are going?" "I really need to take what I know about education and change it to work for a different situation, rather than just assuming that what has always worked continues to work in a new place." "We often questioned what was going on, but the Lord's timing was right." "We always prayed that we would do what the Lord wanted us to do." Tune in next week for part two of the story! Microplastics, small, micro-sized plastic fragments are showing up in our water sources, rain, drinking water, and beverages like beer. It is in food, salt, and seafood. Moreover, it has recently been found in human breast milk, placentas, human lungs, and blood. One report indicated that blue whales are consuming 10 million pieces of microplastic particles a day. As plastic fragments, it continues to shed fibers smaller than a strand of human hair. Most of the time we are unaware how and when this happens. Did you know, when you open a plastic cap on a bottle, you release thousands of particles. But then there is also our clothing, roads, artificial turf, food packaging, tea bags, or plastic that comes in contact with friction, hot liquid, or hot food. Dr. Scott Coffin [https://scottcoff.in/] joined us in this encore presentation from 2022. As a toxicologist and Research Scientist at California State Water Resources Control Board, he has been studying plastic since 2014. He speaks about how microplastics are entering our environment, what solutions are being put in place to assess risk and implement precautionary solutions, and how we might limit our own exposure. They unpack the history of primary water pioneers like Stephen Reese and Paul Power, how political and corporate interests shaped the "water scarcity" narrative, and why so much of our water law is built to control, not liberate, this resource. The episode weaves together geology, health, sovereignty, and an abundance mindset that challenges everything you've been told about drought and "running out" of water.   Highlights: "The Earth creates water. It's there in abundance. If that's true, it has enormous implications."   "You and I can't wake up and say, 'I don't like my water, I'll go to the Verizon of water.' You have your monopoly, and they'll charge you 12% more every year."    "Scarcity is one of the most viral belief systems destroying humanity and nature. Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! Many women experience rising anxiety in midlife as menopause and hormonal brain changes reshape fear circuits, confidence, sleep, motivation, and emotional resilience. In this episode, I explore why women often feel more fear in midlife - how biology, culture, and lived experience quietly rewire the nervous system - and how to expand again instead of shrinking. This science-meets-soul episode unpacks the menopause brain, nervous system conditioning, and the emotional load women carry, including the effects of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, dopamine, blood sugar, vision changes, and sleep disruption on anxiety, cognition, and confidence.I also explore how trauma, grief, chronic responsibility, and cultural scripts shape risk sensitivity over time, often creating the feeling that you're “pulling back” from life even when your true capacity is still there. This episode includes a grounded, practical roadmap to rebuild emotional safety and confidence, including:• Menopause brain changes and midlife anxiety• Dopamine shifts, cognition, and eyesight changes affecting confidence• Cultural load and narrowing tolerance• Trauma, grief, and nervous system conditioning• Hormones and fear circuits: estrogen, progesterone, testosterone• Sleep, blood sugar, and hormone-support foundations• Micro-exposures to safely expand capacity• Specific breathwork, EMDR, and BEAM Therapy• Strength training, novelty, identity reinvention, and community• A daily, weekly, and quarterly protocol for personal expansionIf you're in midlife and wondering why fear feels louder, and how to turn this chapter into power instead of contraction, this episode brings both the biology and the path forward. Please share this episode with a woman who needs it.Follow Sandy K Nutrition on all platforms, and if this resonated, leave a rating or review on Spotify or Apple Podcasts as it truly helps the show reach more.Support the showPlease rate & review my podcast with a few kind words on Apple or Spotify. Dr. Erik Carter shares from his research and personal experience about how Christian faith informs perspectives on disability. He unpacks 10 dimensions of belonging in community spaces, including schools and churches, along with actionable next steps. Baylor Center for Disability and Flourishing "Disability is among us, and when we think about our schools and our congregations, we want to make sure that kids with disabilities are also with us as well." "Every single person is created in the image of God with dignity and worth and gifts to share." "Disability doesn't diminish faith; it can often deepen faith." "As a Christian, our faith shapes how we see people with disabilities, not as people who are broken or challenged or who have deficits or deficiencies, or all those things that come to mind when the world thinks about disability, but as people who are gifted and image bearers and wonderfully made and beloved." "Our faith calls us to respond differently, to be barrier breakers and diminishers of stigma." "One in three families has at least one member that identifies as having a disability." "Disability is a natural part of the human experience, and if we're not encountering people with disabilities, we might want to think about broadening who we think about as our neighbor and with whom we pursue relationships." The 10 Dimensions of Belonging: Present, invited, welcomed, known, accepted, supported, heard, befriended, needed, loved Access additional resources for the church about the 10 Dimensions here "Who do I know is in my community but isn't part of this program or activity or school, and what is it that is standing in the way of that happening?" "That sense of 'I don't want to do it poorly' leads us to not do anything at all." "You can't learn to do this well from a distance; you have to step into it and experience this and wrestle through it." Reflection Questions: What are we doing really well? What could we do better to open up the experience of belonging? What should we prioritize next? "Those who the world so often overlooks are the ones who lead us back to what matters most." "This sense of experience of belonging is a mutual benefit; we all flourish when those whom we presume are less capable and less valuable are actually centered in our communities." In this episode, they explore why so many are "walking wounded", how trauma (including trauma from the medical system itself) underlies much chronic illness, and why illness is often the body's intelligent healing response rather than a "broken" malfunction. They dive into COVID as a pandemic of human vulnerability, systemic gaslighting, polarization, and how cultural narratives and dogmatic biomedicine disconnect us from our bodies' wisdom. Highlights: "Illness is beautiful… it's a healing cycle." –   "The only sustainable model of healthcare is one that works itself out of a job."    "The bedrock of human illness and chronic disease is that we live according to these narratives where we don't even trust our bodies anymore."    "Simple, small, and slow, that's my mantra."   Timestamps: 00:02 – Introducing Dr. Karyn Shanks and her 35-year journey 01:37 – From internist to holistic, integrative, and functional medicine 03:40 – "Unbroken" and why your body isn't wrong when it's sick 05:23 – The only sustainable healthcare model: working yourself out of a job 08:22 – COVID as a pandemic of vulnerability, not just a virus 15:41 – The biggest problem today: dogma, righteousness, and reductionism 20:46 – Dr. Shanks' core mission: returning patients to safety and self-trust 30:55 – How she practically creates safety for chronically ill patients 42:32 – Case study: healing begins in a sewing room, not a prescription pad 54:59 – One daily practice: a few moments to listen to what you need   Resources:   Remember to Rate, Review, and Subscribe on iTunes and Follow us on Spotify!   Learn more about Dr. Stanton Hom on:   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drstantonhom  Website: https://futuregenerationssd.com/    Podcast Website: https://thefuturegen.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/drstantonhom  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stanhomdc  Stay Connected with the Future Generations Podcast:   Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/futuregenpodcast  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/futuregenpodcast/    Links:    https://www.thehivemethod.co/ https://www.instagram.com/thehivemethod.co   About Dr. Karyn Shanks KARYN SHANKS MD is a physician, author, and teacher who helps clients recover their lives from chronic complex Illness—a journey she's walked herself. This week on The Curious Builder Podcast, Mark welcomes Amanda Birnie of Curio Rugs—a one-time wedding photographer turned full-time rug curator and entrepreneur. Amanda walks us through the early chaos of launching her business during the pandemic, why she believes rugs are personal works of art, and how sourcing trips, storytelling, and small-business hustle helped her carve out a niche in a saturated industry. Bloodlines & Silence: Inside the Psychological Horror of HIM

Siquoyia Blue pulls you into the shadow of HIM, a film that reads like a modern ritual: Cam, a promising football star, is courted by a godlike mentor who doesn’t teach—he remakes. What starts as mentorship spirals into initiation, a slow, seductive erosion of identity where silence is worship and suffering is proof of worth. Through piercing scenes of isolation, reward-and-punishment, and the chilling transfer of blood and legacy, the film exposes how power alchemizes devotion into obedience. This episode traces that transformation, connecting cinematic horror to real-world grooming—from secretive inner circles to hustle culture—and asks the question the movie forces on us all: who are you willing to become? Listen as Siquoyia decodes the movie’s rituals, the redefinition of masculinity, and the cost of being chosen—then stays with you after the credits, nudging you to protect your soul and your voice in a world that will gladly invoice you for them. Long-time educator Tosca Nathan shares about the significance of knowing your story and connecting to God's bigger story, especially as teachers. "Like any story, our life stories have a path, they have a trajectory, and it's full of meaningful events, defining moments, key relationships, trials and disappointments, dreams and aspirations, passions and discoveries." "How coherent your life story is and how coherently you can talk about your life story has been seen as a factor in well-being." Coherence of time, thematic coherence, and contextual coherence "Your life story never exists in a vacuum. It is always part and parcel of a bigger story." "In the telling itself, every time you tell it, there's more meaning making that happens, so it's important to tell your story." "If teachers are not fully aware of who they are and have exercised all of the areas of coherence, they will not be as effective in their teaching." "The teacher, with what they do or how they relate, helps the student understand how their story connects to bigger things." "You can't give what you don't have." "To realize that scholarship is part of that grand story completely changes why I even engage in research or why I engage in teaching and learning, and then on top of that, it elevates it to the level of worship." They explore what truly makes a "good pediatrician" today—one who honors informed consent, partners with parents regardless of their vaccine choices, and understands natural and holistic options for children's health. The discussion dives into the recent ACIP move on the hepatitis B shot at birth, how states like California may resist those changes, and the growing legal and constitutional battles around mandates and religious exemptions. Highlights: "My mission is to ensure that parents all over the world have access to objective, truthful, undoctored advice and informed consent on vaccines."   "A good pediatrician is one that listens to the parents… I'm here to serve you and help you in your journey, not to tell you what to do."    "We're vaccinating everyone for a disease that might infect one in 7 million kids."    "Doctors normalize reactions like encephalitis because they're happening so often. With over 500 parenting articles, 300 educational videos, and a deeply rooted philosophy centered on collaboration, he brings a powerful perspective to what parents can do when kids “don't listen.” Drawing on his martial arts background and decades of working with kids and parents, Vivek explains how to turn moments of resistance into opportunities for guidance and true cooperation. Together, they explore why kids push back, how traditional control-based approaches confuse fear for respect, and what it really looks like to guide children like the banks of a river rather than trying to stop their flow. Vivek shares his “test, treat, and tornado” framework for families transitioning away from control, offers tools for emotional regulation and pattern interruption, and challenges common beliefs about strength, consequences, and preparing kids for the real world. From the origins of the Air Pollution Foundation to the ongoing battle against climate change, Rebecca sheds light on the intricate web of misinformation and the urgent need for public action. WSPA was the top funder of the Air Pollution Foundation, whose research concluded that atmospheric carbon could “ultimately prove of considerable significance to civilization.” For an extended interview and other benefits, become an EcoJustice Radio patron at https://www.patreon.com/ecojusticeradio Resources: Revealed: Big Oil Told 70 Years Ago That Fossil Fuel Emissions Could Impact ‘Civilization' - DeSmog https://www.desmog.com/2024/11/12/revealed-big-oil-told-70-years-ago-that-fossil-fuel-emissions-could-impact-civilization/ Rebecca John is a Research Fellow at the Climate Investigations Center [https://climateinvestigations.org/who_we_are/]. Have you ever found yourself laying out a fleece like Gideon, hoping God will make the way clear? Brian Delamont returns to the podcast for a thoughtful conversation about how God speaks to us and how we can posture ourselves to listen. Judges 6 "The problem isn't with God, it's that we're not listening to what He has already told us, and we're asking Him the wrong questions because of that." Psalm 89:46-51 Prayer by Tim Keller Isaiah 30:21 "I think everyone longs for this – for God to just tell us." "My heart has to want to listen to God. There is a waiting posture. And then, my heart also has to have the courage to respond to what I hear, even if what I hear is not what I wanted to hear." Divine Direction by Craig Groeschel Luke 22:42 "One of the most powerful ways that God speaks to us is when we listen together." Acts 13:1-3 "Sometimes there are seasons where He is silent." "The challenge is not that we miss His direction or miss His voice or miss His guidance, but oftentimes the challenge is that I'm not ready for what He wants to say to me as the answer or as the challenge to that prayer or question." "God loves us too much to leave us the way that we are right now. He wants to change us to be more and more like Him." Psalm 23 "The desert has a purpose." "When I come to God, I come to the One who knows me better than anybody else." December Reflection: What am I genuinely anticipating when I engage in conversation with God? Jamie shares her powerful origin story and walks us through her daughter's early developmental delays, the intense pressure to vaccinate, the dismissive responses from pediatricians, and the moment she said "enough" and took healing into her own hands. Together, they unpack how children are programmed by media, pharma marketing, and the medical system, why speech delays, regressions, ADHD, eczema, and "autism" have been normalized but are not normal, Jamie's experience with heavy metal detox, fulvic, zeolite, and gut healing, and much more! If you're a parent questioning the narrative, feeling the intuitive nudge that "something's off," and wanting practical solutions, this episode will both challenge and empower you.   Highlights:   "These issues have been normalized. They are common, but they are not normal."   "No child should ever move backward in speech or development. A regression is not normal, mamas."    "I just knew I needed to do something now.
