Through the practices that reach the level where the wiring actually lives. In this episode, I go deep on the neuroscience and the soul of real change — for anyone who has done the therapy, had the insight, and still ends up back in the same pattern. Most business owners underprice their work not because the math is wrong but because their fears show up in the numbers, and Etinosa Agbonlahor has built an entire firm around fixing exactly that. She and Mark talk through the psychology of pricing, how to have money conversations with the people who matter most before it becomes an emergency, and why a blank price tag on a truly unique home might actually work against you. Hunting A Serial Killer in Canada: Retired Toronto Police Talks About the Case That Shocked a Nation. From tracking one of Canada's most notorious serial killers to leading the heartbreaking investigation into the murder of an eight-year-old child, retired Toronto Police homicide detective Hank Idsinga spent three decades confronting humanity at its darkest. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast social media like their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. Every homicide detective knows that one case can define a career. The Podcast is available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, iHeartradio and most major podcast platforms. #LawEnforcementTalk #Free #Podcast #Radio For Hank Idsinga, there were several. Supporting articles about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin. As a Retired Homicide investigator with the Toronto Police Service, Idsinga became one of Canada's most respected detectives. During a remarkable 30-year career, he investigated countless murders, managed some of the country's highest-profile homicide investigations, and ultimately became the Major Case Manager responsible for one of the largest murder investigations in Canadian history. The conversation is available on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and most other major podcast platforms, where audiences continue discovering firsthand accounts from those who have lived them. Today, Idsinga joins the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast to discuss Hunting A Serial Killer in Canada, the emotional realities of homicide investigations, and the experiences that inspired his #1 National Bestselling Book, The High Road: Confessions of a Homicide Cop. The compelling interview is available on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast Website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartradio and other major Podcast platforms, where audiences continue discovering extraordinary stories from the people behind the badge. Hunting A Serial Killer in Canada: Retired Toronto Police Talks About the Case That Shocked a Nation. A Childhood Promise Became a Lifelong Mission Some careers begin with opportunity. Hank Idsinga's began with tragedy. When he was just ten years old, he learned that his grandfather had been murdered during the Holocaust by the Nazis in World War II. That revelation changed his life forever. "From the age of ten, I knew I wanted to become a homicide detective." Rather than simply dream about police work, Idsinga dedicated himself to achieving that goal. Throughout his youth, he prepared for a career in law enforcement, eventually joining the Toronto Police Service. The episode is available across major platforms including their website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, with highlights shared across their Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn profiles. What began with patrol assignments eventually led him into homicide investigations, where his remarkable memory, analytical skills, compassion, and determination quickly earned the respect of fellow detectives and supervisors alike. Finding Answers for Families During Their Worst Moments Hollywood often portrays homicide detectives as emotionless investigators driven only by evidence. Reality is far different. Idsinga explains that homicide detectives do much more than process crime scenes and interview suspects. They also become the people responsible for delivering devastating news to grieving families. One moment they may be chasing a dangerous suspect. The next, they're standing on a family's front porch explaining that someone they love will never come home. "You have to investigate the crime, but you also have to care for the people left behind." That balance between relentless investigation and genuine compassion became one of the defining characteristics of Idsinga's career. Available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and most major Podcast networks. Hunting a Serial Killer Who Terrorized Toronto Perhaps no investigation better demonstrates the complexity of modern homicide investigations than the hunt for one of Toronto's most notorious serial killers. Hunting A Serial Killer in Canada: Retired Toronto Police Talks About the Case That Shocked a Nation. Between 2010 and 2017, eight men, most with connections to Toronto's Gay Village, vanished. At first, the disappearances appeared unrelated. As investigators dug deeper, disturbing patterns began to emerge. The investigation quickly expanded into the largest homicide investigation in Toronto Police Service history. Multiple agencies joined the effort, including: Toronto Police Service (TPS) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Numerous regional law enforcement partners Multiple specialized task forces As the Major Case Manager, Hank Idsinga coordinated an extraordinarily complex investigation involving hundreds of investigators, forensic experts, analysts, intelligence officers, and partner agencies. The pressure was immense. The community demanded answers. Families desperately wanted their loved ones found. The media closely followed every development. The Investigation That Finally Solved the Murders Years of painstaking investigative work eventually led detectives to Bruce McArthur, a self-employed landscaper. The Podcast is available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, iHeartradio and most major podcast platforms. Investigators uncovered horrifying evidence. The remains of several victims had been concealed inside large planter boxes located on properties where McArthur had worked. McArthur ultimately pleaded guilty to eight counts of first-degree murder. He received a sentence of life imprisonment with no eligibility for parole for 25 years. For investigators, however, the arrest represented more than solving a case. It provided long-awaited answers for grieving families and brought an end to years of fear within Toronto's community. "Every victim deserved answers. Every family deserved the truth." Standing Before the Cameras Throughout the serial killer investigation, Hank Idsinga became the public face of the case. That responsibility required more than investigative skill. It required calm leadership. Every news conference carried enormous significance. Families were listening. The public wanted reassurance. Reporters demanded updates. Criticism surrounding aspects of the investigation intensified as the case unfolded, but Idsinga consistently appeared composed, compassionate, and professional while communicating difficult developments to the public. Hunting A Serial Killer in Canada: Retired Toronto Police Talks About the Case That Shocked a Nation. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast continues bringing listeners real conversations from the front lines of crime, policing, trauma, survival, and healing. His ability to balance transparency with investigative integrity earned widespread respect throughout Canada. The Murder of an Eight-Year-Old Child While serial murder investigations receive national headlines, some of the most emotionally devastating cases involve children. Idsinga also served as the lead investigator in the murder of an eight-year-old child, a case that tested every investigator involved. Few crimes affect detectives more profoundly than those involving children. The emotional weight follows investigators long after the evidence has been processed and the courtroom proceedings conclude. "Child homicide investigations stay with you forever." Those cases remind detectives why every decision matters and why justice requires both determination and extraordinary attention to detail. What It Takes to Solve Homicides Television often portrays homicide investigations as quick breakthroughs driven by dramatic confessions. Idsinga explains that reality is far more methodical. Successful investigations depend upon countless hours of: Crime scene analysis Witness interviews Forensic science Intelligence gathering Surveillance Digital evidence Interagency cooperation Persistence Sometimes one overlooked detail changes everything. Sometimes cases take years. Sometimes detectives refuse to quit because families deserve answers. Those lessons form the backbone of Idsinga's investigative philosophy. From Homicide Detective to Bestselling Author After retiring from policing, Hank Idsinga chose to preserve those lessons in writing. His memoir, The High Road: Confessions of a Homicide Cop, became a #1 National Bestseller. The Book offers readers an honest look inside homicide investigations while revealing the emotional realities rarely discussed outside police circles. Hunting A Serial Killer in Canada: Retired Toronto Police Talks About the Case That Shocked a Nation. Supporting articles about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin. Rather than glamorizing violence, Idsinga focuses on the human side of policing. Readers discover the victories. The heartbreak. The difficult conversations. The impossible decisions. And the tremendous responsibility detectives carry every day. The book has been praised for bringing authenticity to the true crime genre while honoring both victims and investigators. The Human Side of Homicide One of the strongest themes throughout Idsinga's career is empathy. He never viewed victims as case numbers. Every investigation represented someone's parent. Someone's child. Someone's friend. Someone whose family deserved answers. That perspective helped shape the detective he became and continues to influence the stories he shares today. The episode is available across major platforms including their website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, with highlights shared across their Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn profiles. "The investigation doesn't end with an arrest. Families carry that loss forever." Why These Stories Matter Today Public fascination with true crime, Social Media, streaming documentaries, and crime podcasts has never been greater. Millions follow investigations on Facebook, debate cases on Instagram, and listen through the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, iHeartradio and other Podcast platforms. Hunting A Serial Killer in Canada: Retired Toronto Police Talks About the Case That Shocked a Nation. Yet few hear directly from the investigators who actually solved these cases. That is what makes Hank Idsinga's conversation so compelling. Rather than sensationalizing violence, he provides an honest look at the investigative process, the emotional cost of homicide work, and the professionalism required to pursue justice under extraordinary pressure. His remarkable career demonstrates that solving murders requires far more than intelligence. It requires patience. Compassion. Leadership. And an unwavering commitment to victims who can no longer speak for themselves. For anyone interested in policing, criminal investigations, or the realities behind some of Canada's most significant homicide cases, Hank Idsinga's interview offers a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from the detective who helped bring one of the country's most notorious serial killers to justice while serving victims and their families with dignity throughout an extraordinary Retired Homicide career. From Borderline to Beautiful: Hope & Help for BPD with Rose Skeeters, MA, LPC, PN2
In this powerful solo episode, Rose Skeeters opens up about one of the biggest hidden obstacles in her own BPD recovery: chronic judgmentalism. What felt like harmless criticism was actually a self-protective shield that blocked vulnerability, deepened fragmentation, and sabotaged the very connection and healing she craved.Rose breaks down how judgment functions as projection and shadow material, its damaging effects on mental health, self-image, relationships, and empathy, and most importantly — how to turn every judgmental thought into a golden doorway for shadow work and integration. If you've ever caught yourself being harshly critical of others (or yourself) and wondered why real healing felt out of reach, this episode will give you both insight and practical tools to break the cycle. From Borderline to Beautiful — Real hope, real tools, real recovery.Judgment is often a defense mechanism rooted in projection and unintegrated shadow partsHow being judgmental harms your nervous system, self-worth, relationships, and capacity for empathyWhy judgment blocks shadow integration and keeps the borderline brain fragmentedEvery strong judgment is a mirror — a powerful opportunity for healingPractical steps: Pause, own the projection, feel it in your body, journal, dialogue with the part, and integrateJudgment reinforces splitting; shadow work restores wholeness and values-based living00:00 – Welcome & personal story02:26 – Defining judgment and why it matters in recovery04:55 – How judgment harms your mental health07:22 – Impact on self-image and shadow integration09:26 – How it damages relationships and empathy13:09 – Shadow work explained (Jungian psychology & projection)17:32 – Turning judgment into shadow work: practical tools21:32 – Closing & resourcesBook a session with Rose or Jay: thriveonlinecounseling.comCall/Text: 844-984-7483 (844-9-THRIVE)Summer group wrapping up soon — Mid-Fall group forming (email today to save your spot)Podcast Website: thriveonlinecounseling.comFollow the show for more on BPD recovery, betrayal trauma, shadow work, values-based healing, and building authentic relationships. If this episode resonated, take one small action today: Notice your next judgmental thought and ask, “What part of me feels activated here?” Write it down. We've been warned that the sun is dangerous... but what if that advice is leaving out half the story? In this episode of the Align Podcast, Jonathan Jarecki challenges the fear-based narrative around sunlight and explains how light exposure may influence hormones, vitamin D, skin health, and our biology. Jonathan and Aaron question common claims about sunscreen, sunglasses, sunburn, red light therapy, and sun gazing, while examining how modern indoor living may be weakening our relationship with natural light. SPAN is the smart electrical panel that tells you exactly which circuit is draining your wallet, can charge your car only on solar power, and somehow also looks cool enough that homeowners show it off to their friends. Reina Smyth and Mark cover the origin story behind the product, the wrong QR code that caused two weeks of frustration, and Mark's very ambitious idea to turn his wellness home into a Faraday cage for family quiet time. The idea did not pan out, but it did lead to one of the better rabbit holes in recent podcast history. The United States is bombing Iran for a fourth straight night, Senator Lindsey Graham is dead and his Senate seat went to his sister, the agency that certifies your voting machines just got emptied by email, and a text message that would not admit it was a bot tried to move Radell's opinion on Israel. The thread tonight is one question: who actually gets to decide, and who is being kept out of the room? In this episode of Purple Political Breakdown: Iran and the Strait of Hormuz: the June memorandum collapsed, the strikes and the naval blockade are back, oil is near 85 dollars, and the White House position keeps reversing faster than it can be reported. Why the missing story is not the policy, it is the absence of one. Lindsey Graham: the senator's death, the appointment of his sister Darline Graham Nordone to the seat on the President's recommendation, and an honest look at the record, including the 2016 Merrick Garland blockade and the 2020 Amy Coney Barrett confirmation eight days before the election. The Election Assistance Commission: what this quiet agency actually does for your vote, why firing every commissioner months before a midterm matters, and the receipts that connect it to the SAVE Act, the DOGE and True the Vote data deal, the ERIC exodus, and the CISA cuts. Breakdown in the Public: the "Friends for Peace" texts Radell received, traced by reporters to Brad Parscale's firm and a nine million dollar Israeli Foreign Ministry contract, plus fresh polling on where American opinion on Israel actually stands. Research on a Dime: the Maine Senate scramble to replace Graham Platner and who the Democrats might pick, and the new 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act that became law without a signature. Good News to close: Pakistan's rooftop solar boom, a landmark NHS heart-attack prevention rollout, and a gene therapy giving deaf children their hearing. NEW: main shows are now live on Wednesdays, and the full podcast episode now drops Thursdays at 8am EST. CHAPTERS 0:00 Intro, updates, and tonight's through-line 5:24 Nuanced News. This week I'm discussing the latest Social Security Trustees Report, what it means for your future benefits, what changes may be coming, and how millions of Americans are already planning ahead. I'll dig into the psychology and strategy of spending down your savings once you retire, including how to transition from saving to spending, why an "intentional adjustment" matters, and the critical role of having a written plan. I also answer listener questions about withdrawal strategies and how to weigh the decision of working "one more year." You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in... [00:32] The latest Social Security Trustee Report [09:14] Discussing Social Security and Retirement Strategies [12:12] Adjusting to Retirement Spending [16:25] Finding purpose in retirement spending [19:44] The go-go years in retirement [26:56] Withdrawal strategies and investment planning [32:28] Managing taxes with inherited IRA [37:24] Evaluating Retirement vs. Working Longer [43:03] Understanding Annuity Penalties and Risks What the Latest Social Security Report Means Recent headlines about Social Security's future have stirred anxiety for those nearing—or already in—retirement. The Social Security Trustees' latest report brings sobering news: if no legislative action is taken, benefits will face a 22% cut by the end of 2032. For the average American, that translates to receiving just 78 cents on the dollar compared to today's checks. Roughly 73 million Americans currently collect Social Security, with that number projected to hit nearly 80 million by 2035. 66% of today's retirees lean heavily on these benefits, up from 52% twenty years ago. Aging populations, fewer pensions, and growing living costs further exacerbate the shortfall. Adjusting Your Retirement Plan in Uncertain Times With these potential benefit cuts looming, many are rethinking their assumptions. Some pre-retirees adjust their retirement income projections to reflect "worst-case" Social Security—assuming perhaps only 75-78% of currently promised benefits. This kind of conservatism can bring peace of mind when planning, though it's still possible that Congressional fixes will preserve more generous payouts. Planning for the unknown also means keeping tabs on Social Security's annual earnings cap, which is rising—from $168,600 in 2024 to $184,500 in 2026. For top earners, this means more taxable income, and for retirement planners, one more variable to consider. The Psychology and Practicality of Decumulation Flipping from saver to spender is often more difficult than expected. Many accumulate for decades, watching their nest egg grow, and then feel uneasy as withdrawals begin. Having a clear spend-down plan is crucial—not only for finances, but for confidence and peace of mind. Try a "bucket" strategy—dividing assets into income, cash reserve, and long-term growth buckets. By doing this, you'll be able to weather market swings and adjust spending appropriately in both up and down years. Importantly, plans should be flexible: during bull markets, withdrawals might increase modestly; in downturns, tightening the belt can protect long-term sustainability. The Measure of Retirement Success Retirement fulfillment isn't about dying with the largest possible nest egg, it's about achieving financial independence, enjoying freedom, and creating meaningful connections. Studies show that those who use their savings for experiences, relationships, and a sense of purpose report far greater happiness. This is about it in these terms, if you knew with certainty that your money would last, how would you spend differently starting tomorrow in retirement? Reflecting on this can help clarify goals and foster the confidence to pursue a fulfilling vision for retirement. Devil's urine. That's what Dupont employees called PFAS. These toxic, human made forever chemicals are now in the blood of almost every human on the planet. They are found in drinking water around the world, even Antarctica. And they are used in a broad range of consumer products, like non-stick cookware, stain-resistant clothing, waterproof items, dental floss, and even medical masks. These are only a few examples of many. This group of toxic chemicals, perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), permanently concentrates in your body and the environment. You can't get rid of them. In fact, they bioaccumulate, meaning they get worse and worse. The public awareness from uncovering of the truth behind Dupont's misdeeds now contaminating much of the planet is tantamount to this generation's Silent Spring. Our guest Rob Bilott, is very much a Rachel Carson sort of figure who has stood up to the chemical industry as the lead attorney to bring light to the dangers of PFAS and its many variations. He fought and won a 20+ year battle against Dupont for the poisoning of over 70,000 people in West Virginia and Ohio. His work was even captured in the 2019 feature film, Dark Waters where he was portrayed by Mark Ruffalo. Rob has continued his groundbreaking work and is looking at the potential of a nationwide class action lawsuit as newer versions of PFAS emerge, unregulated and as dangerous as ever. In this interview from Summer 2022, we explore the history of PFAS, what exposure means, where it can be found, and what we can do. We also give an update from the actions of Trump's EPA to nbroaden use and exposure of these chemicals. More Info on the PFAS Presidency from Common Dreams: https://www.commondreams.org/news/pfas-pesticides-approval-epa Rob Bilott is a partner in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky offices of the law firm, Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP [https://www.taftlaw.com/people/robert-a-bilott], where he has practiced in the Environmental and Litigation Groups for over 31 years. During that time, Rob has handled and led some of the most novel and complex cases in the country involving damage from exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (“PFAS”), including the first individual, class action, mass tort, and multi-district litigation proceedings concerning the toxic chemical, recovering over $1 billion for impacted clients. His activism has taken him from rallies and city council meetings to whistleblower interviews and direct confrontations with figures such as Joe Biden, Peter Hotez, Jeb Bush, and local Orlando officials. During COVID, he helped organize opposition to lockdowns and mandates, bringing firefighters and vaccine-injured individuals before Orange County leadership, contributing to state action under Gov. Ron DeSantis against COVID shot mandates for local firefighters. More recently, partnering with Stand for Health Freedom, he helped end water fluoridation in over 20 Florida communities, paving the way for a statewide ban, and aims to inspire others to "be the change" through conscious choices and civic engagement. I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode!I break down what the newest research says about cigarettes, vaping, and nicotine pouches, and why the “glamour” narrative is never the same thing as health. I also connect nicotine to addiction science, menopause and HRV, and the deeper emotional reasons people reach for a chemical pause button. Beware of those posts from wellness "influencers" telling you to use their discount code for the miracle nicotine gum "nootropic" for your brain...you need all the facts before you decide if it's right for you.• 90s nostalgia and media trends that glamorize smoking again • the hard science on cigarette combustion, toxins, and long-term risk • what 2026 studies suggest about vaping and cardiovascular harm • where the vaping and cancer evidence is early, mixed, and still concerning • nicotine pouches as “clean” marketing versus heart and oral health realities • why nicotine can feel like focus while strengthening dependence • quit-rate data and why repeated attempts are normal, not weakness • menopause, estrogen, HRV, and nicotine as a fight-or-flight drug • the “thing under the thing” and what we are trying not to feel - you know I will always bring a little bit of soul into every podcast episode.I am one of the rare independent podcasts left...please do your part to help support me to keep going 6+ years and I know how much my integrity has helped the wellness space. What would you actually change about American government if you could? On this bonus episode of Purple Political Breakdown, Radell Lewis runs through a full personal policy wish list built live on stream, covering Supreme Court reform (term limits, ethics enforcement, and a cautious lean toward court packing), presidential immunity, pardon reform, filibuster reform, House expansion, voting reform (STAR and approval voting), a proposed federal Election Day holiday, billionaire tax reform and closing the stepped up basis loophole, a mandatory or incentivized civil service program for eighteen year olds, an overhaul of public education toward financial literacy and critical thinking, foreign lobbyist transparency, and a values based approach to international alliances. This is Radell's own running list of political solutions, unfiltered and evolving, in the spirit of the show's core mission: political solutions without political bias. Josh Frei spent 17 years as a firefighter before pivoting to custom saunas, which means he already knew how to show up calm, problem solve fast, and never leave a job half done. He and Mark talk through the lessons learned when too many cooks in the kitchen cost a project days of rework, why a quick phone call beats an email thread every single time, and how Symmetry earned a lifetime partnership by driving benches across the country in a rental truck. Also: a former firefighter helping people sweat on purpose is the kind of career pivot that writes its own theme song, and yes, his crew actually made one. This week on Purple Political Breakdown: Trump's financial disclosure shows over 1.4 billion dollars in crypto related income tied to a company nobody can find on paper, the FBI has surged 260 analysts into re examining a Georgia election that's already been counted three times, and Russia hit Kyiv twice in five days right before a NATO summit. Radell connects the dots between all three, then digs into new Pew polling showing the world's confidence in America and Americans' confidence in their own democracy collapsing at the same time. Plus, a full breakdown of this Supreme Court term's biggest rulings on immigration, citizenship, and presidential power over independent agencies, the 2026 midterms landscape including a progressive upset in Denver, and the good news stories the rest of the media isn't covering. LISTEN to our discussion with the lead architectural designer for the firm Biotonomy [https://biotonomy.com/] using a holistic and Nature-based approach for buildings and cities to address the climate and biodiversity emergency. Rather than abandon crowded urban areas for sustainable living, great potential remains in re-envisioning buildings and cities in ways that work with, rather than against, Nature. Preferable to continuing the crash course of suburban sprawl that takes more than it gives, we can opt to embrace design and lifestyle principles that recycle and innovate with Nature-based solutions that address the climate, biodiversity and social justice crises. In this episode, learn how to respond to the turbulence of our times creatively, collaboratively and harmonize with Nature in how we choose to live and build. Carry Kim talks with Moein Nodehi, the founder, CEO, and Lead Architect for Biotonomy. Welcome to a new episode of the Future Generations Podcast, where Dr. Stanton Hom sits down with crypto educator and private structuring expert Oto Gomes to unpack the nervous-system impact of our current financial system. Oto shares his journey from 12 years as an accountant into 14 years in crypto, and how he discovered that "without health, there is no wealth," connecting financial sovereignty with embodiment, mindset, and lifestyle. Together, they explore how traditional, wartime-style banking creates a parasitic, scarcity-based relationship with money and how trust law, private structuring, blockchain, and regenerative "toroidal" wealth systems can help people break financial trauma patterns, reduce stress, and build aligned, passive income and generational wealth. Highlights: "Without health, there is no wealth." "I feel like most people are stuck in this like parasitic mindset." "Currency, this thing we call money, is infinite." "Are you the player in the game or are you the observer of the game or the one playing the game?" Timestamps: 00:02 – Introduction 01:21 – Oto's journey from accountant to crypto 03:36 – The link between money stress and health 05:21 – Generational money trauma 08:46 – Ownership vs stewardship 11:05 – Poverty mindset & scarcity 14:59 – Pyramid vs toroidal flow 22:27 – Inside Oto's 10‑week academy 37:08 – Passive income that replaces salaries 47:15 – IRAs, penalties & reclaiming control Resources: Remember to Rate, Review, and Subscribe on iTunes and Follow us on Spotify! Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode!I connect the Phoenix Eye thumb marking to the neuroscience of empathy, intuition, and moral sensitivity, starting with a moment where my dog mirrors the pain she sees on screen. I also get honest about what it costs to feel everything and how regulation and boundaries turn sensitivity into strength instead of burnout. • What the Phoenix Eye looks like and why it stands out • How dermatoglyphics form in utero alongside emotional brain systems • Mirror neurons, interoception, and why “gut feelings” can be real data • Somatic signs of stress and the way midlife hormones can blur signals • Emotional memory, moral reasoning, and why betrayal can hit so hard • Genetics and upbringing that shape empathy and social attunement • How trauma can amplify sensitivity and pattern recognition • The shadow side of empathy, overgiving, overtrusting, ignoring red flags • Why dogs co-regulate and model presence and emotional honesty • Practical ways to build empathy through nervous system regulation • Boundaries, reciprocity, and why compassion without limits becomes self-abandonment If this show resonates with you, please follow, rate, review, and share it. After pulling off six events in seven days, Mark sits down with Alyssa Abbott and Mary Clark to talk about why in-person connection is still the most underrated marketing strategy in the building industry. They cover everything from swag as a love language to why empowering your community to be your advocates beats any ad spend, and Alyssa makes the very good point that sometimes the best business move is just grilling hot dogs and saying thank you to your subs. This week is a different kind of Purple Political Breakdown: a solo, chat-driven deep dive on one question. Do you support packing the Supreme Court? Before you answer, Radell Lewis walks the entire board, because the honest version of this debate starts earlier than most coverage admits. You do not need new seats to pack a court if you control who fills the seats you already have. In 2016, Justice Scalia dies and Mitch McConnell blocks Merrick Garland for nearly a year on a "let the voters decide" standard he branded the "Biden rule." In 2020, weeks before the election, he reverses himself and confirms Amy Coney Barrett after tens of millions of Americans have already voted. The frame other coverage skips: the Garland blockade and the Barrett rush were already a form of packing the existing nine through procedure. From there, the history that undercuts the idea that nine is sacred. The number is not in the Constitution. Article III leaves it to Congress, which has changed it seven times, from six justices in 1789, to Lincoln adding a tenth seat in 1863, to the nine we have settled on since 1869. Then the cautionary tale: FDR's 1937 plan to add up to six justices died 70 to 20 in his own Democratic Senate, even as the Court quietly started upholding the New Deal anyway. Then the mechanics. Expansion is an ordinary statute, but it runs straight into the filibuster, which means ending the filibuster first. The Judiciary Act would take the Court from nine to thirteen, one justice per appeals circuit, though the strongest advocates argue less from circuit math and more from a bench they call rigged. We break down Brian Tyler Cohen's pitch to Gavin Newsom, and why messaging that makes people lose faith in the institution itself can backfire. Here is why Radell would start somewhere else: term limits and an enforceable ethics code. Eighteen-year staggered terms with a senior status off-ramp that may be achievable by statute, supported across the aisle by Federalist Society co-founder Steven Calabresi and liberal scholar Akhil Amar, echoed in John Roberts's own early writing, with 49 of 50 states already limiting their high-court judges and bipartisan polling supermajorities (PRRI: 85 percent of Democrats, 76 percent of independents, 67 percent of Republicans; Marquette: 73 percent of Republicans). On ethics, we cover Senator Whitehouse's SCERT Act, the Court's toothless 2023 self-written code, and the Fix the Court finding that Justice Clarence Thomas reported gifts valued near 4.2 million dollars over two decades, far more than the rest of the bench combined. Radell is careful throughout to separate what is documented from what cannot be proven. The bottom line: if the goal is a Court the public trusts again rather than one your side controls for a single cycle, term limits and ethics come first. Court packing can follow, but only with airtight, bipartisan messaging and the number locked into the Constitution so the country does not spend the next decade adding and subtracting justices. Steel-manned, receipts on the table, live chat the whole way, and an honest landing spot at the end. Retirement is often painted as a well-earned period of leisure, adventure, and relaxation. Yet, the journey to a fulfilling retirement is rarely straightforward. On this episode of the show, I'm shining a light on the intricate realities lying beneath common assumptions—and how the right planning, rooted in your personal goals and beliefs, makes all the difference. I also share an eye-opening case study highlighting the difference between being told you're "good to retire" and actually being prepared for retirement. You will want to hear this episode if you are interested in... [00:00] Advice on personalized retirement planning [09:35] Retirement finances beyond your 401k [12:50] Planning a travel-focused retirement [15:13] Discussing retirement readiness scoring [17:51] Estimating future long-term care costs [21:06] Risks of a fixed income [30:34] Understanding annuities and IRA conversions When Generic Advice Isn't Enough It's critical it is to have a tailored retirement plan, not just a verbal green light from a general financial planner. Retirement is one of life's most significant transitions: leaving behind peak earning years for potentially three decades or more of financial independence. Generic answers, unsupported by analysis, put dreams and security at risk. What Makes Up a True Retirement Plan? Retirement planning isn't just a matter of having "enough" in a 401(k) to draw a standard percentage each year. There is a huge array of considerations required for a robust plan: Health Insurance Before Medicare: What happens if you retire at 61, but Medicare doesn't kick in until 65? Options like COBRA may be costly and only temporary. Knowing all available choices is crucial to avoid unexpected expenses. Housing Decisions: Downsizing might not bring the savings (or happiness) you expect in today's real estate market. Plans should address whether you'll stay, improve your home, or move, and how each choice affects your budget and taxes. Major Expenses and Repairs: From home improvements to HVAC upgrades, factoring in intermittent—but significant—expenses is part of protecting your financial stability in retirement. Timing Social Security: Early collection might not be best, especially for those with longevity in their family. Taking a holistic view of Social Security's role in your cash flow and legacy is vital. Personal Goals: Retirement is about more than cash flow. What do you wish to do—travel, spend time with family, pursue hobbies? These needs must be "baked into" your plan, not treated as afterthoughts. Why There Are No Shortcuts in Planning The elevator to success is broken. You have to use the stairs!. You need to put in the work, do some brainstorming, and conduct continuous review to build a strong retirement plan. Shortcuts—like relying on rules of thumb or ignoring nuanced needs—leave you exposed to avoidable pitfalls. Assessing your "retirement readiness grade" honestly helps identify what's missing. Rarely does someone fail readiness due to insufficient savings alone; more often, the gaps lie in overlooked factors such as healthcare, taxes, risk mitigation, or a lack of clarity on what retirement should look like. The Power of Personal Core Beliefs in Shaping Strategy Your beliefs and values shape your retirement strategy. These core beliefs drive thoughtful planning: Long-Term Care is a Universal Risk: Statistically, women face a higher likelihood of needing care, but everyone must plan for this unpredictable cost. Inflation Is Inevitable: Rising costs, from stamps to healthcare, erode fixed incomes over time. A plan that doesn't anticipate inflation invites hardship down the road. National Debt and Taxes: With U.S. debt at $40 trillion and growing, it's prudent to assume taxes will rise in future decades; your tax strategy should reflect that likelihood, even as you account for uncertainty. Writing Your Own Next Chapter Most importantly, you have to understand that retirement as a deeply personal chapter—you get to decide what happiness and fulfillment mean. Whether that involves travel, volunteering, family time, or pursuing new ventures, your personal goals must drive your planning process. There's no one-size-fits-all template; only a comprehensive, personalized plan offers true peace of mind. Retirement readiness isn't a destination handed to you—it's a path you build through diligent planning and honest reflection on what matters most to you. By moving beyond generic reassurances and crafting a strategy rooted in personal goals and beliefs, you can confidently step into retirement's best years. Today, Dr. Stanton Hom sits down with Dr. Patrick Flynn, a chiropractor, immunology geek, and founder of a rapidly growing network of clinics known for life-changing clinical results. In this episode, they unpack the clash between the dominant medical "firefighter" model and a chiropractic "carpenter" paradigm that sees the body as intelligently adaptive, not broken. From trauma, toxins, and thoughts to auto-suggestion, vaccines, fertility, and the gut–brain–immune connection, Dr. Flynn lays out how chiropractic thinking reshapes labs, lifestyle, and long-term outcomes. You'll hear real clinical stories, hard questions about responsibility and prevention, and a powerful call for chiropractors and patients alike to reclaim a vitalistic, principle-driven approach to health and freedom. Highlights: "You don't see the world the way it is, you see the world the way you are." "True preventative health care is more of a chiropractic principle." "A true scientist will always have a comma in his sentence, not a period." "I'm a chiropractor. That just separates me from the thinking that dominates us today." Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode!I unpack karma as action rather than revenge, using ancient teachings to show how intention and attachment shape the consequences we live with. I connect that spiritual idea to neuroscience, stress physiology, epigenetics, and Saturn as a symbol of time and accountability, then bring it home with one clear practice: stop betraying yourself. • why I shifted toward solo, research-led conversations without a sales pitch • karma defined as action and cause and effect, not punishment • intention as the real generator of consequences • releasing attachment to outcomes as a discipline • karma as “residue” through neuroplasticity and stress load • resentment, cortisol, inflammation and the health cost of replaying harm • forgiveness as a physiological act of self-rescue • generational trauma, epigenetics and what families pass down • Saturn, Capricorn energy and the long arc of consequence • the core practice of catching self-abandonment and choosing yourself If this podcast moved something in you, share it with another person who may also find it fascinating, interesting, unbiased, and worthwhile. A war the country thought was over is back on, a housing bill almost everyone in Congress agreed on is frozen on the President's desk, and the Supreme Court just told the courts to stay out of its own immigration rulings. This week on Purple Political Breakdown, Radell Lewis connects one thread through all of it: a President who keeps choosing the fight over the people. In Nuanced News: the Iran ceasefire that already looks broken as fresh U.S. airstrikes hit this weekend, the Senate flip-flop on the Kaine War Powers resolution, and the Republican civil war brewing between Vance and Rubio for 2028. Then the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, passed 85 to 5 in the Senate and 358 to 32 in the House, and why Trump is holding it hostage for the SAVE America Act. Plus two 6 to 3 Supreme Court rulings that end Temporary Protected Status for hundreds of thousands of Haitians and Syrians, restore border metering, and quietly strip the courts of the power to review any of it. In Breakdown in the Public: who gets to decide what is true now, from NewsGuard's AI news chatbot to AI cloning child performers' voices for Peppa Pig, to Russian money flowing into Europe's far right. In Research on a Dime: a wave of DSA and affordability-first primary wins, and Radell's read on whether this is a socialism revolt or just a country that is done overpaying for rent. We close on good news: mushrooms cleaning E. coli out of English rivers, a tooth-regrowth drug clearing its first human trial in Japan, and a Somerset farm roaring back to life. Listen, then drop your take in the chat. This is political solutions without political bias. What often goes untold is what happens to the officers, supervisors, families, and entire law enforcement agency left behind. Supporting articles about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin. For retired Bernalillo County Sheriff's Lieutenant Van Eldridge, that painful reality became part of his life forever when one of his deputies, Deputy Sheriff James McGrane, was murdered during what appeared to be a routine traffic stop. Years later, Eldridge shares not only what happened that tragic night but also how the experience shaped his understanding of trauma, resilience, and the urgent need to improve mental health resources for first responders. His emotional conversation is featured on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, available on their website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, iHeartradio, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and most major podcast platforms worldwide. A Deputy Was Shot and Killed During a Car Stop. He talks about this and the Mental Health Crisis in Law Enforcement. The episode is available across major platforms including their website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, with highlights shared across their Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn profiles. When Routine Turns Deadly Every deputy begins a shift understanding that danger can appear without warning. Most traffic stops end with a warning, a citation, or an arrest. Occasionally, however, they become something far more devastating. Shortly after midnight on March 22, 2006, Deputy Sheriff James McGrane stopped a white pickup truck on Highway 337 in New Mexico. At approximately 12:46 a.m., he calmly radioed dispatch with the details of the stop. Nothing in his voice suggested anything unusual. Nothing indicated that within moments he would lose his life. Unknown to Deputy McGrane, the driver had allegedly been involved in an unsolved 2005 murder and was determined not to return to prison. As Deputy McGrane approached the driver's window, the suspect opened fire. The deputy was struck twice. He never had the opportunity to defend himself. Within minutes, nearby witnesses dialed 911 after hearing two gunshots echo through the quiet night and watching a white pickup speed away from the scene. A Deputy Was Shot and Killed During a Car Stop. He talks about this and the Mental Health Crisis in Law Enforcement. Available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Youtube and most major Podcast networks. Emergency responders rushed to help. There was nothing they could do. Deputy James McGrane died where he had stopped the vehicle. The Supervisor's Nightmare For Sergeant Van Eldridge, the phone call changed everything. One of his deputies had been murdered. Every law enforcement supervisor knows the possibility exists. No one is ever prepared for it to become reality. A supervisor's responsibility instantly shifts from overseeing patrol operations to managing unimaginable grief. There are deputies in shock. Family members who need answers. Investigators arriving. Media gathering. Community members searching for information. Officers struggling to process what has happened. Yet the supervisor is expected to remain calm, make sound decisions, and lead everyone through one of the darkest days in the agency's history. The Podcast is available for free on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, also on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, iHeartradio and most major podcast platforms. Those moments become permanently etched into memory. Van explains that while people often remember the fallen officer, they seldom recognize the emotional burden carried by the partners and supervisors who must continue serving while grieving themselves. A Deputy Was Shot and Killed During a Car Stop. He talks about this and the Mental Health Crisis in Law Enforcement. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast continues bringing listeners real conversations from the front lines of crime, policing, trauma, survival, and healing. Justice Took Years The suspect fled following the murder. For weeks, investigators worked tirelessly to locate him. Eventually, authorities tracked him to Juarez, Mexico, where he was apprehended on April 3, 2006, and returned to the United States. The criminal case moved through the courts over several years. On June 4, 2010, the suspect was convicted of murdering Deputy McGrane, tampering with evidence, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. He received a prison sentence totaling 43½ years. Justice did not stop there. On August 4, 2012, the same individual was convicted of the unrelated 2005 homicide that investigators believe motivated him to kill Deputy McGrane during the traffic stop. The complete interview is available as a Free Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, LinkedIn, and major podcast platforms. He received an additional 28-year sentence, to begin after completing his first sentence. While the convictions provided accountability, they could never restore what had been taken. Remembering Deputy James McGrane Deputy McGrane had devoted his life to public service. Before joining the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department, he served with the New Mexico State Police and later with the United States Postal Inspection Service. A Deputy Was Shot and Killed During a Car Stop. He talks about this and the Mental Health Crisis in Law Enforcement. Listeners can hear the complete interview on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, and other major Podcast, Radio, News, and Media platforms. He had accumulated more than a decade of law enforcement experience before joining the Sheriff's Office, where he served for three years. Friends and fellow deputies remember him as a dedicated professional committed to protecting his community. He left behind his wife, parents, sister, coworkers, and countless friends. His sacrifice serves as a sobering reminder that no traffic stop is ever truly routine. Trauma Doesn't End After the Funeral For many outside law enforcement, healing begins after the funeral. For first responders, that is often when the hardest part starts. Returning to the same patrol car. Driving the same roads. Answering the same radio calls. Making another traffic stop. Each event can trigger painful memories. Van Eldridge explains that traumatic incidents like the murder of Deputy McGrane leave lasting emotional impacts that extend far beyond the individual officers directly involved. Families carry the burden. Children notice changes. Marriages feel the strain. Entire agencies experience a shift in morale. Communities mourn alongside the officers sworn to protect them. These invisible injuries frequently become cumulative, building over years of responding to shootings, fatal crashes, child abuse cases, suicides, domestic violence calls, and line-of-duty deaths. The podcast is available on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, LinkedIn, and other major podcast platforms. Without proper support, many first responders struggle with PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, chronic stress, and burnout. A Deputy Was Shot and Killed During a Car Stop. He talks about this and the Mental Health Crisis in Law Enforcement. Changing the Conversation About Mental Health Rather than allowing tragedy to define him, Van Eldridge chose to become part of the solution. Today he serves as Director of The Sodality Foundation, a nonprofit charity dedicated to improving mental health support for New Mexico's first responders. The foundation was created after community leaders, mental health professionals, and public safety personnel recognized a troubling reality. Many first responders desperately needed help. Far too many couldn't afford it. Others feared seeking treatment because of the stigma surrounding mental health. The organization works to bridge those gaps by helping fund counseling, peer support programs, resilience training, education, wellness initiatives, and other resources that strengthen the emotional health of first responders. Its leadership includes professionals from public safety, nonprofit management, government affairs, healthcare, and business, all committed to ensuring that those who protect our communities receive the support they deserve. Supporting Those Who Protect Us First responders are often called heroes. Yet heroes are still human. They experience fear. They experience grief. They carry trauma. They need support just like everyone else. Organizations such as The Sodality Foundation remind us that investing in first responder wellness benefits everyone.
