Two sarcastic sisters drunkenly bitch about horror films.
Boo bitch! We met up back in June & talked about some things. Did you miss us?
We've talked about it pretty much through the entire podcast, now watch it along with us. Is this our final episode of the podcast ever? Even Old Deuteronomy couldn't say...
Watch the 1971 classic Willy Wonky and the Chonky Fonky along with us, as we talk about the true unsung hero of this film Mrs. Bucket.
Hey y'all, it's been a while. Here's a recording of us from the not too distant past. We talked about a movie for way too long, honestly. Maybe we'll do it again some time, who knows?
Turns out, Ethan Hawke & Uma Thurman DID meet on the set of Gattaca. But that's not the movie we're talking about here. Get ready to have a bunch of shit not mentioned in the title spoiled though, because that's just what we do here. Oh yeah, and we're also going to spoil all of Code 8 (2019).
We're keeping Amy's birthday going with another favorite, The Butterfly Effect (2004)! Let's chat about all things time travel, chaos theory, & tragic knowing glances to end a movie with.
It's Amy's Birthday again, and for this time around we watched Donnie Darko (2001).
Hey podcast buddies. Are you still listening? Were you ever listening? On this episode we talk about Alien Resurrection from 1997 but really we're just screaming into the void. Sharing our time with each other, sharing in this common interest of horror films, but really just finding an excuse to connect. Maybe in listening to this you might feel more connected to us, I hope so. It's likely this podcast will be forgotten shortly after the three of us die. So this is all temporary, but it always was. So enjoy it if you do. Make a drinking game out of all the things we routinely repeat in these episodes. While you're listening scream back at us and tell us our opinions are garbage, a lot of the time that's true. So let's bask in this short time where we all can meditate on this strange sci-fi film from the nineties.
We're back once again to celebrate our Lord & Savior, Emile Hirsch. Come with us down a new rabbit hole & watch the origin of a super villain.
Happy episode 69, everyone! This week we're talking about Climax (2018) for obvious, name related reasons. This movie really didn't pull any punches. You should probably buckle up for this one. It is going to be a real bumpy ride.
What up, dogs. As Erica so delicately put, "we're cutting up a girl this week." That's right, folks, we watched The Autopsy of Jane Doe. It gets crazy in this movie so hold on to your knickers. Is that how you use that word? I don't know exactly what knickers are. Whatever, this movie is wild. Come listen to us poorly explain it ¯_(ツ)_/¯
We're back, along with the ghost that haunts our apartment & audio feed. This time we're talking about Jeffrey Dahmer so if you don't already know, expect it to get dark. Like, really dark, dude. Definitely not for the faint or weary.
Woah, welcome to Alien 3: Hypercube. Wait. No. That's not right. Come with us now on a journey through time and space.. Hold on, that's still not it. Well, it is Alien 3 (1992) that we're talking about this time around. We're in space again and Ripley is still the baddest bitch I know.
Sometimes you go on a tangent that lasts so long, you just slap some bumpers on it & call it a bonus episode! We're all having a time right now, eh? The world's a crazy place. Why not listen to a little bit about a show we really obsessed over recently?
Ever wondered what it's like to watch movies with us? Probably not, but we made it happen anyway. Watch Contagion (2011) along with us while we're all quarantined due to a real life virus (thanks COVID!), and listen to us get progressively more weary & horrified as it goes. Get ready to be even more worried than you ever thought you could be & listen to Amy mumble "Uh oh" at every turn. It's a real doozy of a movie, so if you haven't seen it, we advise caution with this one.
There once was a series of flicks. With a creature who loved playing tricks. In space and the hood. They were mostly no good. And at least should have ended at six. If that limerick didn't make it clear, we finished off this franchise and watched Leprechaun Returns (2018). Did it need to be made? No, probably not. Was it made? Yes, and we watched it and talked about it for over an hour for your listening pleasure.
Blast off with us into literal aliens. But also the movie Aliens (1989). You should watch the movie instead of listening to this podcast. Who even reads this? If anybody is reading this: help me I'm stuck in a box, and I don't know the combination to get out. Can somebody call my mom and tell her where I am?
You know MarVista Entertainment? That company that puts out, like, a million versions of the same Christmas movie every year? Yeah, well, they made a horror movie too. And wow, there is a lot to unpack here. Spoilers ahead, but be honest, you weren't going to watch this one anyway.
The gang watches Alien (1979), but find themselves at a loss for words to describe how they feel. Instead they guess Erykca's favorite Tom, and figure out who would play Jonesy the cat in the remake.
Join us while we talk (and don’t) about the classic 2001 horror film Valentine. Plus Amy decides what season she wants to die in, comes up with a doom metal band name, and suspects that Joel has plans to murder her.
We're back & it's Joel's birthday! *air horns blow in the distance* We're all talking about a couple of recent horrors to celebrate, Piercing (2018) & Lords of Chaos (2018). Strap in & prepare to hear about what kinds of rats we'd like to be in another life, which Culkin is our favorites, & who would play the cast of Piercing in the musical remake.
It's the 2019 Blood Sisters season finale! We talk about all the films released in 2019 that we saw, which is basically nothing, whoops! Plus listen to the end to hear how we're changing the format for 2020.
Well, the decade is coming to a close and here we are, celebrating the wintertime holidays with talk about how Erica was patient zero in this house, how every bird we've ever met has been chaotic, and some resolutions for ourselves for the future. Oh, also we talk about Black Christmas (2019) I guess. Happy whatever you celebrate. We love you.
It's finally the final Friday! And he's back, the man behind the mask! He's coming in your holes one last time, for now anyway. Jason's taking on space over 400 years in the future, then heading back to Crystal Lake for sick collab, and finally the gritty reboot he deserves. This round we're taking down the last 3 of the current franchise which includes Jason X (2001), Freddy vs. Jason (2003), & Friday the 13th (2009). Come celebrate the last Friday the 13th of the decade by shitting on this batch of movies that came out before it even began. We've included a recap of all 9 previous movies, but if you don't need any of that mess, skip to 23:30.
For our podcast Anniversary, the gang heads back to Derry to finish off Pennywise with our mouths. AKA we talk about IT Chapter Two (2019).
It's Erica's birthday! And in true Oracle fashion, the ghosts are with us on this one. Both in the movie, Ghost Ship (2002), & in our haunted ass apartment. This episode was a damn rollercoaster ride, from a classic adventure to the campiest of musicals to some of the saddest shit we've ever discussed. We ripped through the ridiculousness that is Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) & ended on quite possibly the most depressing movie, Chained (2012). An itinerary only Erica could provide. Come on a journey with us!
We manage to fit talking about two movies into a brisk 2 hours and 40minutes, how did we do it? Check out this weeks episode of Blood Sisters—cue the theme music! Who's reading these descriptions anyway? The gang talks about The Gift (2000) & The Skeleton Key (2009). But more importantly, pitch our new cartoon show Ratsputin, decide which movies would make the worst high school play adaptations, and trash La La Land for basically no reason. You might be thinking: isn't this a horror movie podcast? Don't worry about it, just sit back, roll a fat joint, and come with us now on a journey through the deep south.
Hey! Remember that lil creepy dude Freddy? We barely do! Listen to us struggle to remember the details of the rest of these Nightmare movies, including A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989), Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991), Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994), & A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010).
It's spooky season! Which means it's time for a spooky ghoul to dive into a franchise about, so we're talking about that little rascal, Freddy Kruger. This round we're getting into the first four movies of the franchise which includes A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985), A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), & A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988).
Take a trip through the desert with some serial killers, Juliette Lewis, & us! We're talking about some classic mid-90s romps with some serious anger issues from some well-known baby boys, Kalifornia (1993) & Natural Born Killers (1994). Hard trigger warnings for some extreme sexual violence, among other kinds of violence. More than what we usually talk about, anyway.
It's been a solid year since the last one, but he's back! He's the man behind the mask! And he's coming in your holes! Wait, no, is that right? Maybe. Anyway, we're talking about Jason Voorhees again in all his undead splendor. For this round we've got Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988), Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989), & Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) on the docket. Strap in, Pod People, it's about to be a real bloodbath bonanza. If you don't need the hilarious recap from the last 2 Friday the 13th Bonanzas, skip to 12:35.
We blast into this classic horror franchise, with the most 90's cast imaginable: Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr! We're talking about I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998), & I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006). Two pretty goofy but fun films, and one that was so horrible we pull a Blood Sister's first and skip through the film to get it over with faster.
We're jacked about the wild ride that is these films, The Babysitter (2017) & Rim of the World (2019), both directed by McG. Come with us on a journey to a hyper-stylized dimension where aliens attack & babysitter's make deals with demons.
We got some baby scream queens in this franchise! Popping into yet another haunted doll series, this time we're talking about Annabelle & all her shenanigans in Annabelle (2014), Annabelle: Creation (2017), & Annabelle Comes Home (2019). Settle in pod people, it's going to be a long one.
Yo, dogs. Fall off the deep end with us and these total mindfuck of some movies, The Signal (2014) and Bottom of the World (2017). These movies are going to fuck with you. You should watch them before you listen to this because we are absolutely not going to describe them with enough detail for you to understand them and we're only going to confuse you more.
We're wrapping up this wild franchise with the most recent 4 films, including Seed of Chucky (2004), Curse of Chucky (2013), Cult of Chucky (2017), & the brand new Child’s Play (2019). And what a ride it's been. Good riddance, Chunky! For now, anyway.
You better believe we're gearing up for the release of the newest addition to the Child's Play Cinematic Universe (CPCU)! This time around, we're watching the first 4 films of the franchise which includes Child’s Play (1988), Child’s Play 2 (1990), Child’s Play 3 (1991), & Bride of Chucky (1998). May this episode give you the power, we beg of it!
Yoooooo! Jen was in town. Jen has a birthday. Let's fucking rage while we talk about some spooky movies that are definitely not for babies, What We Do In The Shadows (2014), The Witch (2016), & Herediary (2018).
In this edition of Blood Sisters, Erica does the deepest of dives into the many timelines of Coherence & we all learn a valuable lesson about where not to put our hands & dicks.
Ayo! Brrrrr, brrrr, brrrrrrrrrrrr! Amy lived another year, so that's pretty rad. In honor of that, she picked out some real weird movies for us to watch, then talk about poorly, then have you listen to. This is our gift to you on this national holiday. You're welcome.
Taking a break from obscure flicks & wacky slasher franchises to talk about some actual masterpieces of cinema, Get Out (2017) & Us (2019), both directed by the unmatched Jordan Peele. We did a deep dive on some of the symbolism & themes of both films while tossing in a few of our own hot takes.
Y'all ever heard of these 90s female directed horror comedy flicks? Because I doubt it. I really do. They're pretty dope though, maybe check them out sometime. Also, just for fun, we discuss who we'd recast if we were making these movies today.
Hey y’all, guess who’s back!? Brr brr brrrrrr!!! It’s us, ya girls. And Joel, he’s cool too. We’re diving into one of our favorite recent horror franchises which includes The Conjuring (2013), The Conjuring 2 (2016), & The Nun (2018). Beyond that, we discuss how being at an exorcism sounds cool in theory & which other movies we can site the sequel as being the best of the franchise.
Valentine's Day may be a fake holiday, but we're celebrating it by talking about some zombie romance including Warm Bodies (2013), Life After Beth (2014), Burying the Ex (2014) & Night of the Living Deb (2014). Just to really drill it in, we're also drinking Zombies while we discuss this batch of golden boys & double standards in relationships. We'll be take a break from uploading new episodes for a bit, but we'll be back soon with more drunken antics for your listening pleasure.
It’s Joel’s birthday! Brr brr brrrr!!! To celebrate, we’re getting into some of his picks this time around including The Wailing (2016), Thelma (2017), & The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017) while putting away some Cocobon wine, a staple in the Hinojolsten home. Join us on this adventure filled with tales of incest & discovering just how racist our family is.
We're all very sleepy in this new year, but nonetheless we're catching up on some foreign horror from 2016, including Train to Busan (2016), Under The Shadow (2016), & Raw (2016). Did you know squirrels can pop off part of their tails?! You learn something new every episode.
Good riddance to 2018! We're reminiscing on some of the horror movies that came out this past year, all while drinking whatever we feel like because it's time to wash away our sorrows & head into 2019 ready to peak. We talk about our favorites of the year & what movies we're most looking forward to for the next one.
We're still trying to wrap up this whole 2018 thing so we watched Winchester (February 2 2018), Wildling (April 2018), Slice (September 11 2018), & Mandy (September 14 2018)and sipped on some Crackberry cider and coughed a whole lot. Sorry about that last bit.
