In 1980, Vancouver Island mechanic Granger Taylor left his family a note saying he was leaving on a 42-month journey aboard an alien spacecraft. He then disappeared into a stormy night—along with his truck. This episode explores Taylor's remarkable mechanical talent, the homemade flying saucer he built in his family's yard, the note that made his disappearance legendary, and the evidence discovered years later at a nearby blast site. Paul and Michelle examine the difference between the documented record and the mythology surrounding the case, while remembering Granger as more than a UFO mystery: a gifted, complicated, and deeply human person. The Tragic Case of Molly Bish Molly Bish was 16 years old and working as a lifeguard at Comins Pond in Warren. Spooky Coop – Episode 46 Show Notes The Black Forest Haunting: The Lee Family Case : Join Paul and Michelle as they investigate one of Colorado's best-known modern paranormal cases—the reported haunting experienced by Steve and Beth Lee in Black Forest during the early 1990s. In this episode: The Lee family's move into their newly built log home in Black Forest, Colorado. The first unexplained events, including footsteps, opening doors, strange odors, disappearing objects, and unexplained sounds. Reports that the activity intensified over time with flickering lights, shadow figures, voices, cold spots, and alleged physical contact. Accounts involving the Lee children and why their experiences became one of the most compelling aspects of the case. Paranormal investigators' visits, reported EVP recordings, equipment malfunctions, and differing conclusions about the property. The visit from a respected Hopi elder, who approached the property from a Native spiritual perspective and reportedly advised respect for the land rather than confrontation with the phenomena. A discussion of conventional explanations, including environmental conditions, wildlife, home construction, stress, and the role of human perception. Why the Black Forest haunting remains one of Colorado's most discussed paranormal cases despite the lack of definitive proof. Steve Lee's later belief that his family may have been subjected to a covert government experiment involving nearby military facilities, altered perception, and the alleged influence of a powerful land vortex. What became of the property after the Lee family moved away and reports from subsequent owners that they experienced no unusual activity. Discussion Topics Can multiple eyewitness accounts strengthen extraordinary claims? Where is the line between personal experience and objective evidence? How do cultural and spiritual traditions differ in interpreting unexplained phenomena? Could environmental factors account for some reported hauntings? What role should skepticism play when examining paranormal claims? Key Locations Mentioned Black Forest, Colorado Colorado Springs, Colorado Schriever Space Force Base (formerly Schriever Air Force Base) Important Note The experiences discussed in this episode are based primarily on the reported accounts of Steve and Beth Lee and others connected to the case. Many claims remain unverified, and no scientific consensus exists regarding the reported paranormal events. The discussion is intended to explore the history, testimony, and differing interpretations surrounding this well-known case. Thank you for listening to Spooky Coop. If you enjoy exploring the strange, the mysterious, and the unexplained, be sure to follow the show, leave a review, and share this episode with a fellow paranormal enthusiast—or your favorite skeptic. An engaging discussion and recounting alien contactee encounters. Michelle and Paul recount many of their experiences with ET's throughout their life. The discussion points toward more equable and amiable interactions with the grey aliens rather than accounts of fear and terror. Michelle goes into some depth about her experiences with aliens and fellow contactee's here on earth, also describing events with Dr. John Macks working group from the 1990's. Paul discusses experiences of seeing and interacting with various alien crafts along with a discussion about his 1996 experience with a family member while on a canoe trip on the Wahta Mohawk Reserve's Moon River. In closing they encourage listeners to share some of their own alien encounters, anonymously or otherwise. The Anti-Vax movement is a morbid symptom of our time. Whoever writes the history of America's unraveling will have to pay attention to anti-vax and refer to Kira Kieffer's book Unvaccinated Under God a thorough study of its nearly 50 year history and its grounding in religion in the broadest sense of the word. In this FRDH podcast, Kieffer explains to anti-vax sceptic Michael Goldfarb how the movement went from legitimate concerns over flaws in a single vaccine to becoming a political cause exploited by Trump and Bobby Kennedy Jr. Give us 53 minutes to explain it all to you.
In April 2009, a young woman named Julissa Brisman was found bleeding in the doorway of a luxury Boston hotel room after a violent struggle with a client she met through Craigslist. Just four days earlier, another woman had been tied up and robbed inside a nearby hotel by a man matching the exact same description. As investigators raced to stop what appeared to be an escalating pattern of violence, they uncovered a trail of burner phones, fake identities, hotel surveillance footage, and anonymous online messages that eventually led them to an unlikely suspect. It was a clean cut medical student named Philip Markoff who was secretly living a double life while planning his upcoming wedding. Our other podcast: "FEARFUL" - https://open.spotify.com/show/56ajNkLiPoIat1V2KI9n5c?si=OyM38rdsSSyyzKAFUJpSywMERCH:https://www.redbubble.com/people/wickedandgrim/shop?asc=uPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/wickedandgrim?fan_landing=trueYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@wickedlifeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickedandgrim/ Instagram:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wickedandgrim/?hl=enTwitter: https://twitter.com/wickedandgrimWebsite: https://www.wickedandgrim.com/

In June 1998, eight year old Robbie Middleton was attacked in the woods behind his Texas neighborhood,. He was then doused in gasoline, and set on fire in what investigators would later describe as one of the most horrifying attacks they had ever seen. Burned over nearly 99 percent of his body, Robbie somehow survived and spent the next thirteen years enduring more than 150 surgeries while the person accused of attacking him remained free. Then just before his death in 2011, Robbie gave a final videotaped statement identifying the person who was responsible and revealed information that changed the entire direction of the case. What followed was a legal battle involving a record breaking civil verdict, a reopened homicide investigation, and a murder trial nearly seventeen years after the fire itself. Our other podcast: "FEARFUL" - https://open.spotify.com/show/56ajNkLiPoIat1V2KI9n5c?si=OyM38rdsSSyyzKAFUJpSywMERCH:https://www.redbubble.com/people/wickedandgrim/shop?asc=uPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/wickedandgrim?fan_landing=trueYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@wickedlifeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickedandgrim/ Instagram:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wickedandgrim/?hl=enTwitter: https://twitter.com/wickedandgrimWebsite: https://www.wickedandgrim.com/

In 1971, 16 year old Stephen Spahalski killed a man in Elmira, New York and was sent to prison, in a case that seemed shocking but contained. But nearly two decades later, in Rochester, a different story was quietly unfolding. Between 1990 and 2005, four people would be murdered in separate incidents, each one investigated on its own, each one going unsolved, and none of them connected at the time. For years, the truth remained buried in those cases, until a confession in 2005 finally brought everything together, revealing that the killer was Stephen's twin brother, Robert, and that the story of the Spahalski brothers was far from over. Our other podcast: "FEARFUL" - https://open.spotify.com/show/56ajNkLiPoIat1V2KI9n5c?si=OyM38rdsSSyyzKAFUJpSywMERCH:https://www.redbubble.com/people/wickedandgrim/shop?asc=uPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/wickedandgrim?fan_landing=trueYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@wickedlifeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/wickedandgrim/ Instagram:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wickedandgrim/?hl=enTwitter: https://twitter.com/wickedandgrimWebsite: https://www.wickedandgrim.com/

We're joined our new best friend Chef Reilly Meehan who helps us break it all down! #Morbidbookclub #ashleypartner We're unpacking the very first Dr. Kay Scarpetta novel that basically launched a thousand forensic obsessions, chatting about ALL of the gritty details, and some of the wild theories we came up with while reading! Expect hot takes, a little dark humor, and some truly unhinged tangents, because you know we can't stay on track for too long. So keep it weird… and keep turning those pages! We begin this week in 1970's Sardinia, where a quiet, deeply devout teenage girl began to wake up every night at exactly 3:00 a.m., convinced something terrible was standing next to her bed… watching her… and waiting to enter her. Then we head to Christmas Day, 1929, when a well-liked North Carolina farmer committed the unspeakable. Has it spawned paranormal activity? Then we find ourselves visiting the same house, ten years apart, both times the home is for sale and empty... or is it? Lastly, a sweet, sad and comforting tale of a couple so deeply connected, not even death can keep them apart. Do you want to get all of our episodes a WEEK early, ad free? Coltan Scrivner (Morbidly Curious: A Scientist Explains Why We Can't Look Away) is a psychologist, researcher, and author. Coltan joins the Armchair Expert to discuss always preferring to do nitty gritty research in the field rather than a sterile lab, studying human fun and fear responses to haunted houses in Denmark, and his four domains of morbid curiosity. Coltan and Dax talk about why in nature there's a lot of danger without safe opportunities to learn about it, that bar fights actually take place a lot less than if we were chimps, and how bodily injury is an effective cue for danger and violence. Coltan explains ghost hunting in Georgia while not believing but seeing anyway, the 24-question scale he created for measuring morbid curiosities, and whether serial killers over-index in liking horror.Follow Armchair Expert on the Wondery App or wherever you get your podcasts.
