When I first started my business as an entrepreneur I quickly learned there were A LOT of fears I would encounter. Everything from being seen, presenting and teaching, to looking at my relationship to money, charging from my services, leading a webinar for the first time ~ there was so much that made me want to run away and hide.  If only I had Kate's new book,The Courage Habit, when I started this wild journey of following my heart...!  But luckily, I did have the support of people I loved, and I was able to call upon my courage, and face many of my fears. In this conversation Kate shares about the research behind our fears and what holds us back from living courageously. She also shares a four part process for courage, and the fears she still faces today.  This is a great episode for all you entrepreneurs, coaches and writers, as we both share our experiences of growing a team and publishing a book. In this episode we discussed: Kate's personal journey with perfectionism, change, and creating her business What Kate has learned about courage and fear The common places Kate sees people get stuck Kate's four-part process for courage More about her newly released book, The Courage Habit The journey of releasing a book (we both share our stories) and Kate's current growing edge "Your fear is a wound and it just wants to heal. The more you can offer opportunities for healing to your fear instead of trying to push it away or telling it to shut up, the more it heals. And the more you will see that it just says things when it's afraid."  Stay in Touch with Kate: Web Instagram FB Community Kate Swoboda is creator of YourCourageousLife.com, Director of the Courageous Living Coach Certification at TribeCLCC.com and author of The Courage Habit: How to Accept Your Fears, Release the Past, and Live Your Courageous Life. Episode Summary: Courage isn’t a topic that I’ve talked about a lot on this show, but after learning a little more about the work that Kate Swoboda is doing, I was excited to invite her on the show. One of the things I really want to do on the Working Parent Resource Podcast is pull back the curtains on what’s REALLY motivating our behavior as working parents. I see a lot of solutions out there to help overwhelmed working parents, but a lot of them only address the surface level of the complex issues that parents are facing. Today Kate and I are diving much deeper into what really holds people back from pursuing a life that feels really GOOD for them. We talk about the reality of establishing new habits, and how our habits really are the foundation of the life we live. Kate not only offers some really interesting insights, but she also offers very practical action steps for you to take as you begin to implement these things into your own life. Kate Swoboda is the creator of YourCourageousLife.com, Director of the Courageous Living Coach Certification at TribeCLCC.com, and author of the book, The Courage Habit. Her work has appeared in USA Today, Forbes, Entrepreneur, MindBodyGreen, and more. The Courage Habit discusses the connection between the psychology of courage and the neuropsychology of habit-formation, and the tools can be used in leadership, parenting, with creativity, and more.  Show Notes:  http://workingparentresource.com/54 Resources & Links Mentioned in this Episode: Kate Swoboda Website Kate Swoboda Facebook Kate Swoboda Instagram The Courage Habit: How to Accept Your Fears, Release the Past, and Live Your Courageous Life by Kate Swoboda Avoid These Risks of Being a Perfect Parent When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times by Pema Chodron Burnout Rescue Plan Deliberate Life Challenge Working Parent Resource Website About the Working Parent Resource: Welcome to the Working Parent Resource Podcast. EP 046: More Courage, Less Fear with Kate Swoboda This episode is all about courage and the reason why I love the whole idea of living a courageous life is what it leads to. When we're on the edge of what is kind of  uncomfortable, (I say this all of the time, my like feels like a constant wedgie because it's always a little uncomfortable) what we get to experience by living on our edge and stepping into the things that terrify us, leads to so much. It's truly where the magic happens. We're not going to be able to understand how incredible we are until we push the edge of it and really explore what it is. About Kate Kate Swoboda is Director of the Courageous Living Coach Certification at TribeCLCC.com and creator of YourCourageousLife.com, where she teaches people how to change old patterns of self-doubt and create courageous habits (and courageous lives) using the neuropsychology of habit-formation. Her first book, The Courage Habit: How to Accept Your Fears, Release the Past, and Live Your Courageous Life (New Harbinger Publications) will be on shelves in spring 2018.   In this episode, Kate shares: 5:07- The foundation of courage and how to access it. 10:28- How fear based behaviors become our default actions. 15:50- What fear actually means and the most effective way to heal our relationship with it. 20:10- The role fear plays in our lives. 24:37- What to do when we have a fear of failure.   YouTube Videos Referenced in the episode: Shit new aged girls say: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOavbyDKSi0   You can find more of Kate at: Website | Facebook | Instagram | Book

A lot of women this time of year are starting to think about how they are going to address their health concerns in 2017. Get ready because everywhere you look for the next several weeks, you are going to see ads for diets and exercise programs promising to help you reach your goals in the quickest way possible with the least amount of effort. Wouldn't it be nice if getting healthy was as simple as just addressing food and exercise? But it's not. Food and exercise are slivers of the health pie, but they do not, by any means, complete it. Sometimes the very thing that is standing in the way of a woman doing what needs to be done to reclaim her health and happiness is the very thing she is most terrified of addressing: A broken marriage A job she has hated for 20 years. An unanswered calling on her life. Beliefs that no longer serve the life she wants to live. These are often the mountains standing in the way of true health, and none of these mountains can be conquered with clean food and a better strength program... to summit these mountains a woman needs a heavy dose of courage... Courage to honor who she is, what she wants and the courage to take action around making it possible. So, I have invited life coach Kate Swoboda, also known as Kate Courageous to the show today to help us dive deeper into the topic of courage.
