What can we do to live a more authentic, hope-filled life and come out from behind the mask we sometimes wear? On the True Man Podcast, I speak with Neil Getzlow, the author of Unmasked: Conquering Sexual Sin and Walking in Victory. Our conversation was instructive and inspiring, shedding light on the harsh realities of addiction, the transformative power of faith, and the hope that exists even in the most desperate situations. $200,000 a year. That's how much one sex trafficked woman can bring in for her trafficker. On this week's Unmasked, we talk to Dan Nash. Dan is the co-founder of the Human Trafficking Training Center and a retired Missouri State Trooper. Over his nearly three-decade career, Dan was responsible for creating the Human Trafficking Unit and was the enforcement supervisor of the Missouri Attorney General's Office Statewide Anti-Human Trafficking Statewide Task Force. Through the Human Trafficking Training Center, Dan, and his business partner Alison Phillips bring a different approach in training law enforcement by addressing shortcomings in law enforcement's response to trafficking and help them improve in identifying and rescuing sex trafficking victims. They are on pace to train more than 5,000 law enforcement officers across the US in 2023. Dan and I talk about what training looks like, the impact it is having, the barriers they face and new laws being discussed to slow demand. You can learn more about The Human Trafficking Training Center here: https://humantraffickingtrainingcenter.com/ Check out my interview with HTTC co-founder Alison Phillips here. On today's UNMASKED, I talk to new author Matt Turner. Matt is a successful businessman with a $20 million per year construction business. And he has an incredible testimony. At the age of 22, Matt lost both of his hands in an electrical accident. That left Matt feeling like he lost his identity and purpose in life. And despite being clinically dead for 20 minutes, he was still far away from God. In reality, Matt had lost his identity a long time ago thanks to a generational curse that passed down brokenness, unforgiveness, sexual sin and anger. But what Matt learned over the course of his life is that God has taken everything that was against him from the start, everything that should have destroyed him and caused it all to work out for his good. This is a wild and encouraging testimony. Learn more about Matt and his books here: https://www.mattstormyturner.com/ Be sure to check out neilgetzlow.com to learn more about Neil's book, UNMASKED: Conquering Sexual Sin and Walking In Victory.
This week, it was my honor to interview Pastor Gale Kragt. Gale is co-founder of Spiritual Care Consultants and has over twenty years of experience as a Chaplain delivering Christian maturity across all denominations. He is the host of the Healing Begins Podcast and also just wrote the book "God Moments: Amazing Encounters with the Devine in Everyday Life." I've been thinking a lot about this interview since I talked to Gale a few weeks ago. He was my God moment. The ability to recognize a God moment differentiates between an average and an extraordinary day. There is a brief story in the book that we discuss – it's about Gale praying in a Lowe's parking lot with a Lowe's employee – simply because he said yes to having her help him load his car instead of saying nah, I've got it. How many times have I done that? Said no to someone. Just mindlessly going through the day with my eyes focused on myself and not bering ready for God moment's to happen. I hope you enjoy this encouraging episode. Be sure to check out https://neilgetzlow.com/ to learn more about Neil and his book, Unmasked: Conquering Sexual Sin and Walking in Victory.
This week, I have the honor of talking to Craig Martin. Craig is co-host and co-producer of The Good Road TV show on national public TV - now filming its fourth season. Craig has spent the past 30 years filming in war zones, disaster zones and remote villages in more than 85 countries. At the beginning of his career at a Public TV affiliate in Waco, Texas, he was early on the scene to film the Branch Davidian siege for the MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour. Today, Craig is focused on helping us expand our worldviews by exposing us to different cultures - across the US and the globe. He's also got a new movie project that he's working on focused on exposing the many different stories involved with the sex trafficking crisis in the world today. April 14, 2020. That day was the first day I prayed. That was the day I asked God and Amy for forgiveness. And that was the day I gave my life to Jesus Christ. Three years later, the freedom I have from my addictions and sexual sin brings me overwhelming joy every morning. To celebrate three years of recovery, I dedicate today's episode to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And to my wife, Amy. I was able to find the light of God and find freedom through: The Power of Prayer: Romans 15:13 and 1 John 1:19 The Power of Forgiveness: Ephesians 4:32 The Power of the Holy Spirit: Ephesians 4:23-24 and Galatians 5:16 If you know someone struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, please share this episode with them. There is hope. There is a way out of the darkness. It starts with God. What do you do when God delivers a perfect storm into your life? On today's episode, I talk with author Sarah Nelson. Sarah is author of “A Perfect Storm: Devotions During a Crisis.” This is a 28-day devotional that was created out of an unexpected storm in Sarah's life – dealing with her 2-year old daughter suffering a stroke on a family ski vacation. Instead of relying on her own wisdom to get through this difficult season, Sarah turned to God. We talk about the power of prayer, healing and using the storms in our own lives to help others. You can find Sarah's book on Amazon. Be sure to visit https://neilgetzlow.com/ to learn more about Neil's journey and to check out his book, "Unmasked: Conquering Sexual Sin and Walking in Victory."
There are a ton of great books out today on defeating porn. But if you needed to read one, would you avoid it because of the shame associated with carrying around those kind of books? That's where filmmakers John-Michael Bout and Jacob Valk come in. They are students at the Southern Baptist Theological seminary in Kentucky. They duo recently produced a documentary called Into The Light - a teaching documentary on freedom from pornography that walks through the process of change from bondage in sin to freedom in Christ. They were motivated to produce the documentary based on their own experience with pornography, lust and sexual sin. The documentary is free on their website thanks to the $85,000 they raised to produce it through a crowd funding campaign. You can check out the documentary's website here: https://www.intothelightdocumentary.com/ View the video version of this podcast here: https://youtu.be/3zAWxsDNEDI - and be sure to like to the video and subscribe to Neil's channel! After a brief one-week hiatus, UNMASKED is back for episode 55. This week, we are unmasking the journey of Kylla Lanier. Kyla is co-founder of Truckers Against Trafficking. Through TAT, Kylla and her team are raising up a mobile army of transportation professionals to assist law enforcement in the recognition and reporting of human trafficking. Thanks to TAT, more than 1.7 million industry professionals are trained on the warning signs of trafficking as of 2022- a 17% increase vs. the previous year. TAT is also focused on the demand side of sex trafficking through the Man to Man program that helps educate on the dangers of pornography and buying women. We get into the red flags of what to look for with sex trafficking, the impact of porn and OnlyFans on the demand side, and how legalized prostitution might be coming to a state near you. It's Valentine's Week and if I am being honest, I don't like this holiday. It's a made up day to remind us to love our spouses and buy them stuff they don't really need. Shouldn't we love and respect our spouses every single day of the year and treat them like the daughters and sons of God that they are? Today's episode features Curt and Brook Vignery. Curt is a Pastor at The Rock of KC and together, Curt and Brook lead marriage ministry outreach for the church. Curt was instrumental in guiding me at the start of my faith journey - even before I knew Jesus was going to save me. And Brook supported Amy during the darkest days of our marriage. We talk about some practical ways for couples to keep that love burning beyond Valentine's Day – and it starts with having God at the center of the relationship. Be sure to visit https://neilgetzlow.com/ to learn more about Neil's journey and to check out his book, UNMASKED: Conquering Sexual Sin and Walking in Victory. As I mention in the podcast, a video version of this episode will be coming shortly so be sure to check back!

Now, unless you go to The Rock of KC church in Kansas City, you likely don't know Devon. That's why I am so excited to introduce you to her this week. Would you have the strength to keep praising and worshiping God if you had to walk through a season of grief after losing your spouse? That's exactly what Devon is doing right now. We talk about how she's been able to draw strength from her faith and relationship with God following the loss of her husband. Devon also shares her redemption story overcoming a life of drug addiction as a teenager to take a leadership role at her church today.
