In the 1970s, she was part of two short-lived disco groups, The Love Machine and Destination. She also is known for playing the role of Mrs. Parker in the 1995 movie Friday. During the period 1974 to 1976 he also starred on the popular children's television series Land of the Lost as Will Marshall. He later hosted the popular children's game show Finders Keepers in 1987 and 1988, and co-created the children's educational television show Dragon Tales in 1999. While the family lived in Illinois, he enrolled in a summer program at Northwestern University, where he took acting lessons and won an award. His first break came when he was 17 years old and working part-time at the New Frontier Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas selling artwork. He was hired as a driver for Robert Goulet and Carol Lawrence during their summer tour. He spent most of 1968 and 1969 as their driver. After the Goulet-Lawrence tour ended in New York City, Eure decided he would not return to high school and stayed in New York. After a few short months of auditions and odd jobs, in 1970 Eure became a cast member at the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Connecticut. Hired more for his ability to make the cast and crew laugh than his acting skill, Eure worked with a dialect coach to get rid of his deep Southern accent. During his time in Stratford, he worked with Jane Alexander in The Tempest, and appeared in Mourning Becomes Electra, Merry Wives of Windsor, Twelfth Night, and many original works produced by the company. At the Bucks County Playhouse in Pennsylvania, he performed in West Side Story (portraying "Action" of the Jets) and then joined a musical comedy revue and traveled throughout the East Coast resort area. For many years, he was a fundraiser for the March of Dimes, and has also raised money through telethons and fund-raising campaigns for groups like the Variety Club and the Special Olympics. Eure has been a fundraiser for a number of HIV/AIDS causes, including hosting the LalaPOOLooza HIV/AIDS fundraiser in Palm Springs, California, for many years, the Desert AIDS Project benefit and raising funds and assisting with Project Angel Food, which feeds homebound AIDS patients. Stephen is an emeritus professor at Arizona State University, specializing in environmental history, the history of exploration, and especially the history of fire. Pyne received his bachelor's degree at Stanford University after graduating from Brophy College Preparatory, a Jesuit high school, in Phoenix, Arizona. He later attained his master's (1974) and Ph.D. degrees (1976) at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a MacArthur Fellowship in 1988. He also received a summer Fulbright Fellowship to Sweden, was awarded two National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships, and had two tours at the National Humanities Center. He was a professor at Arizona State University from 1985 to 2018. Pyne spent fifteen seasons as a wildland firefighter at the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park between 1967 and 1981, twelve as crew boss. He later spent the summers of 1983–85 writing fire plans for Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone national parks. Tim's films are shot on location in Europe and the Pacific and narrated by celebrity voices, including Tom Brokaw, Gary Sinise, Paul Giamatti, Keith Morrison, Kevin Bacon, Darius Rucker, Josh Lucas, Dan Aykroyd, Jim Nantz, Luke Bryan, Liev Schreiber, Tom Selleck, and Bill Belichick. She found a love of horror films at an early age after discovering 'Child's Play' at a local video store. To this day it remains her number one genre of film. She is an avid hiker and cross trains regularly which allows her to do her own stunts in projects. Her mantra is: "If I'm not working on a project, I'm working on myself." John Edward Alite (born September 30, 1962) is an American former mobster and Gambino crime family associate who turned government witness and in 2008 testified against the crime family and its former acting boss John A. "Junior" Gotti. That year, Alite pleaded guilty to racketeering charges, including two murders and a variety of other crimes, and in 2011, was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison. Due to his cooperation with prosecutors, he was released on a five-year supervised release in 2012. Alite has estimated that he shot between 30 and 40 people, beat about 100 people with a baseball bat, and murdered seven people.[1] Later in life, Alite publicly denounced organized crime and became a motivational speaker, podcaster and author. Cihi held the role for a year, before being deemed too tall. Shortly after high school, Cihi landed a job at Tokyo Disney, where she lived and performed for two years. Gary opened his first collectibles shop, Madcity Music Exchange, selling records and music memorabilia in 1974 in Madison, Wisconsin. She is one of five children, all of whom were involved in acting or music. She started as a child actor in the early 1970s performing in local theatre companies in the Pasadena area. At age six, she appeared in her first commercial for Mama Celeste Pizza. Patts attended Pasadena Alternative School and, while a student, was appointed to a student trustee's position on the Pasadena Board of Education. In 1977, Norman Lear was casting for a new version of The Little Rascals. Patts had originally auditioned for the role of Darla, but since she wasn't the Darla type, they wrote in a new role for her; Rocky. That year she also had a small role in the short lived TV show, A Year at the Top.In 1978, she auditioned, along with 2,000 other girls, for a role in the Los Angeles touring production of Annie. She won the title role and went on to play the part in San Francisco and Los Angeles between 1978 and 1979. At the same time, she was also the voice of Peppermint Patty for the Peanuts cartoons. Patts went on to work on a number of television shows including Archie Bunker's Place, TV 101, Student Exchange (TV movie), The Judge, KID*S, and A Place to Call Home (TV movie). She also has roles in the films Party Line and For Keeps. In 2013, Patts opened a business called Write Off the Row. In 2017, in anticipation of the 40th Anniversary of the musical Annie, she was invited by Inside Edition to New York to celebrate the musical. She was featured on the news show singing "Something was Missing" from Annie. In 2021, she started attending comic conventions throughout the US as a guest. Diagnosed with Fanconi Anemia (FA) as a child—a rare genetic disorder that often leads to bone marrow failure and cancer-Jonathan was initially identified as a potential bone marrow donor for his brother Anthony, who was also battling FA. However, tests revealed that Jonathan too had the disorder. Between 8th and 9th grade, doctors recommended immediate treatment for Jonathan, including chemotherapy, radiation, and a bone marrow transplant. Astonishingly, Jonathan chose not to pursue any treatment and, at 33 years old, remains healthy and thriving. Guile's story begins in Brazil, when he began taking acting classes and dreaming about moving to the United States to pursue a career in Hollywood. In the pursuit of his dreams, he dropped out of law school at eighteen and became a working actor soon after. He studied under Brazil's well known "Coffin Joe" Jose Mojica Marins, and his resume soon boasted soap opera appearances and countless theater performances. After visiting New York when he was 18 years old, Guile decided that his move to the U.S. could not wait any longer. Arriving in New York a few years later, he encountered all of the numerous obstacles that every actor knows very well. But he faced all roadblocks, determined to build the life he wanted for himself. Eventually he was cast in independent films and Off-Broadway plays. After five years in New York, he moved to Los Angeles. Guile became an American citizen in 2011. He is now well established in Los Angeles as a versatile, cooperative team player.; with roles in several more independent films, television pilots. Episode Notes S5E41 -- Join us as we dive into the mind of the longest-serving, first-time, non-violent offender in the Federal Bureau of Prisons at the time of his release George "Cowboy" Martorano.. He'll be telling us tales from his botched trial to his 32 years of a life sentence served and much much more. In 1984, on the advice of his attorney Robert Simone, Martorano pleaded guilty to 19 counts of drug possession and distribution. Martorano was subsequently advised by both the prosecution and the judge, John Berne Hannum, that this plea could result in a sentence of life without the possibility of parole. The prosecution, however, had only recommended a sentence of from 40 to 54 months. On September 20, 1984, Martorano was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the longest prison term ever imposed on a first-time non-violent offender in American history. Louis Pichini, a prosecutor with the U.S. Organized Crime Task Force, pressured George Martorano for information on the Philadelphia Mafia. But Martorano has always denied having any detailed knowledge of his father's business dealings. Judge Hannum's excessive sentence was a part of this pressure. Prior to Martorano's sentencing, his trial counsel, Robert Simone, was indicted on tax evasion charges. Again, before sentence was imposed in the Martorano case, Judge Hannum testified as a character witness for Simone. An article appeared in the Philadelphia Daily News criticizing the judge and called his testimony "highly unusual". Martorano stated in subsequent appeals that Judge Hannum should have recused himself from his case prior to imposing sentence. Martorano holds the title of longest-serving, first-time, non-violent offender in federal custody.[1] He claims the sentencing judge gave the unprecedented term to pressure him to inform on his father and other mob bosses.[4] Martorano distinguished himself during his time in federal prison. In addition to being a "model" prisoner, Martorano: prevented the hijacking of an aircraft by prisoners while in transit from Philadelphia to Oklahoma following the loss of his 33rd appeal. Nearly two dozen investors were duped by a salesman's “wildly optimistic” promises about a Cannabis “theme park” in Alaska, according to federal prosecutors. The Biden administration will move Tuesday to reclassify marijuana as a lower-risk substance, a historic move that acknowledges the medical benefits of the long-criminalized drug and carries broad implications for cannabis-related research and the industry at large. The US Department of Justice is expected to recommend that marijuana be rescheduled as a Schedule III controlled substance, a classification shared by prescription drugs such as ketamine and Tylenol with codeine. “The DOJ continues to work on this rule. We have no further comment at this time,” an administration official said Tuesday. Multistate cannabis company MedMen™ leaves the industry by filing bankruptcy proceedings in Canada with about $411 million in liabilities. MedMen™ announced on April 26 that it filed for bankruptcy under Canada's Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act on April 24. The business advisory firm B. Riley Farber Inc. was appointed as the company's bankruptcy trustee. The company also announced that its American subsidiary based in California entered receivership in the Los Angeles Superior Court on April 23 for the organized dissolution and liquidation of its assets.
