Real-Time fMRI Links Subjective Experience with Brain Activity During Focused AttentionIn this episode, Dr. Jud Brewer explores groundbreaking research on real-time fMRI neurofeedback, revealing how brain activity and subjective experience interact during focused attention. This study bridges the gap between objective neuroscience and first-person introspection by using experienced meditators who excel at monitoring their mental states. By providing real-time feedback from the posterior cingulate cortex (a key region in self-referential processing and mind-wandering), researchers demonstrated that meditators can voluntarily regulate brain activity linked to attention and awareness. Tune in to discover how these findings advance our understanding of meditation, neuroplasticity, and the mind-body connection.Full Reference:Garrison, K. A., Scheinost, D., Worhunsky, P. In this heartfelt episode of Our Forever Smiles, host Laura Arroyo sits down with fellow cleft mama Brittnie Hampson @britthampson to share their deeply personal experiences of discovering their daughters' cleft palates at birth—both born at UNC. They reflect on the shock of an unexpected diagnosis, the overwhelming emotions that followed, and the immediate challenges they faced—especially with feeding. Laura and Brittnie open up about the lack of nurse education they encountered in the hospital and how unprepared many staff were to support a cleft palate diagnosis. ANZAC Day is all about remembering and sharing the stories of sacrifice that our soldiers made throughout history. Major Barry Hampson is a returned serviceman, military historian and until recently worked with Unrecovered War Casualties Army. He did two tours overseas, to the Middle East and East Timor and he served for a total of 43 years. Barry Hampson told Luke Bradnam on 4BC Breakfast, "It's not just putting the names back, it's giving the identity back to an unknown Australian soldier." "It's the one thing that our country deserves to give to our lost soldiers is their identity again and that's what drives me to do the work I did for almost 10 years like it was," Mr Hampson said.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
For years, in the heart of Swansea, a man blocked traffic, stood silently in the street, and defied every attempt to understand him. David Hampson, known only as “The Silent Man,” never explained himself—not to police, not to judges, not even to psychiatrists. His bizarre and repeated offenses sent shockwaves through the UK legal system and left professionals grasping for answers. What was his motive—protest, delusion, or something even stranger? And can silence be a crime in itself? We're telling that story tonight

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”The hollowness beneath our culture is beginning to collapse, and young people are noticing. During this Holy Week conversation, we explore the remarkable spiritual awakening happening among Gen Z as they reject the moral emptiness of our hypersexualized society. When a culture "breathes out" God, it loses its moral compass—first objectifying women, then dehumanizing the unborn, and finally corrupting childhood itself. Yet amid this darkness, something extraordinary is happening. Young men especially are returning to church, scripture, and prayer in surprising numbers. This isn't merely about politics—it's about recognizing that a life without divine purpose leaves one standing on hollow ground. For those feeling the call to something deeper than our culture offers, we invite you to download Claymore (Miletus Christi) from our website—a battle plan for reclaiming authentic faith. May 23, 2024 ~ Rick Hampson, Metro Detroit Market President at Old National Bank joins Paul live at the Detroit Economic Club Luncheon.
Tom Hampson joins us to navigate the turbulent waters of faith and its intersection with evolving societal norms. Our conversation ventures into the heart of "The Battle for the Church," dissecting the contentious ground where love, compassion, and biblical principles collide, particularly within the United Methodist Church's evolving stance on LGBTQ issues. It's not just a discussion about church politics — we're examining the very essence of spiritual integrity and the repercussions for communities of faith when cultural tides pull congregations away from their scriptural moorings. As we grapple with the ramifications of denominational shifts toward liberal interpretations of scripture, we're confronted with a harrowing question: What is the cost of a church's pursuit of inclusivity at the expense of doctrinal purity? This episode digs deep into the consequences for churches that struggle with LGBTQ acceptance, and we ponder the long-term vitality of faith institutions caught between the pressures of modernity and the call to uphold tradition. Hampson's investigative prowess sheds light on the complex dance between upholding truth and embracing all, inviting listeners to reflect on the spiritual pulse of our society.Battle for the Church: Read Tom's Article HereFollow us on X: John Paul II Renewal @JP2RenewalCatch up with the latest on our website: jp2renew.orgSign up for our Newsletter!! Can the very fabric of our parental rights and societal norms withstand the seismic shifts introduced by Illinois HB 4876 and the redefinition of Title IX? This burning question underpins our latest episode as we reunite with the ever-perceptive Tom Hampson to dissect this controversial bill and its Orwellian overtones. Tom unearths the astonishing pace at which traditional definitions of child welfare are being upended, as we scrutinize the potential national ripple effects of such drastic legislative changes. We confront head-on the impact of gender ideology's rising tide in education and its staggering statistical stronghold among our youth, igniting a discussion on the necessity of a cultural reset to preserve our foundational values. The tug-of-war between government oversight and the sanctity of parental rights takes center stage as we navigate the policy pendulum from the Obama administration to Trump, and now back to Biden. The concept of a "deep state" lurking behind the scenes is not just a plot twist in a political thriller—it's a reality we explore, delving into its implications on our cultural identity and the integrity of family structures. In an age where the lines between truth and fallacy blur, we urge the church to step up and lead the charge against cultural lies, falsehoods and deceptions. It's not brain surgery, just speak the TRUTH!
