Sandyhills Parish Church: Let Glasgow flourish by preaching of God's word and praising his name
Haggi 2:1-9 God is saying that he made a promise to his people to be with them 1000 years ago and nothing has changed. Just because so much time has gone by, God will still be faithful to his promise. We sometimes can feel like the promises of God in the scriptures are so old that they cannot be relevant.

In Haggai 1:12-15, God's Word also accomplishes its purposes. In the first verses of Haggai we saw how Yahweh called out his people on their failures. They had returned from exile in Babylon and made a good start. But fifteen years later, we see that they have failed to keep their priorities straight.
It can be demoralizing to look at someone who just seems to have way more success than you, despite coming from the same roots. But Pastor Johnny encourages you to rejoice in the success of your brother or sister, instead of letting comparison and envy rob you of your joy. Thank the Lord for what He has given you!

Life can be quite a rollercoaster of emotions. One day, you're feeling great and on top of the world, and one phone call or bad day can send you spiraling into a season of depression. Pastor Johnny encourages you to hold onto the Lord in those times and to remember that those low points are opportunities for you to trust in Him.

It is a wise decision to wait on the Lord's timing for things, because His ways are higher than our own. But Pastor Johnny warns us today not to let that lull us into a place of complacency. We shouldn't be inactive while waiting on the Lord; we should be doing good work for the Kingdom wherever we find ourselves.

Consider your ways What is the meaning of Haggai 1:1-11? Well, here Haggai brings the Word of God to bear on the circumstances of the Jews. Not simply the Word of God as it was delivered to them by Haggai and Zechariah, but as well the Word of God that long before had promised poor harvests if God's people were not faithful to his covenant with them.
In this episode, Sonia Iris Lozada shares her poem Doorway, a reflection on thresholds—those moments in life where we stand between what has been and what is yet to come. With her signature blend of poetry and conversation, Sonia invites listeners to consider the spaces we step into and the ones we leave behind. The doorway serves as a metaphor for transition—whether grief, growth, or new beginnings. The stillness before stepping through is just as meaningful as the act of moving forward. Every doorway asks us to choose: to stay in the known, or to enter the unknown. Sonia connects the poem to her own experiences of grief, transformation, and creativity. Doorways exist in many forms: relationships, careers, health, and inner growth. It's okay to pause at a threshold—reflection is part of the journey. Crossing through is an act of courage, even when the next room is uncertain. Poetry can help us reframe transition not as loss, but as opportunity for expansion. Reflection questions for listeners: What doorway are you standing in front of right now in your life? What feelings arise when you imagine stepping through it? What do you want to leave behind on the threshold? What do you hope to find on the other side? If Sonia's words resonated with you, share this episode with someone who may be at their own threshold. Subscribe to Poetic Resurrection for more reflections and poetry on navigating life's transitions. Today, we finish up our study in the book of Haggai. We are looking at Haggai 2:20-23 and see the results of serving God faithfully.
Today, we look at Haggai 2:10-19 where we are challenged to please God by living Holy lives. How can we, in 2025 live Holy lively;;;;;;;;;;era.
Continuing our study in the Old Testament book Haggai. Today, we look at chapter 2:1-9 and see where God is encouraging them to keep on in their work of rebuilding the temple. He encourages them with words like “be strong”, “fear not”, “I am with you.” All those words should encourage you as well, as you work on the things God has called you to complete.
We are studying the Old Testament book of Haggai the next few episodes. In this is a challenge for us to “consider our ways” and how we should change our thinking and behavior.
