The Law isn't just for the unconverted or the guy next to you in the pew. It's for you, the Christian, too. But why? Why is the Law still preached to those who are in Christ. Isn't the Gospel enough? The answer is simple: the old Adam hasn't been reformed—he has to be drowned daily. And for that, you need the Law to expose the sin that still clings, so that you can be driven again and again to Jesus. Now, we're not talking about rummaging around in your feelings. That is not maturity. Instead, mature Christians learn to use the Law rightly - as a mirror to see the truth. But keep in mind, they don't examine themselves to condemn themselves, but to confess what is wrong—and let Christ deal with it. In this episode, we cover the topic of Self-Examination and Repentance. Subscribe, Watch, & Share: www.3p1s.com
In this sobering and soul-searching message, Pastor Karl dives deep into Matthew 5:17–48, where Jesus declares that He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it—and then raises the bar of righteousness far beyond anything the scribes and Pharisees ever imagined.Through six piercing examples—anger that murders the heart, lust that commits adultery in the mind, casual divorce, manipulative oaths, retaliation, and hatred disguised as justice—Jesus exposes the truth we all try to avoid: outward obedience is never enough. God judges the heart. Every single one of us stands guilty before His perfect standard.Yet the bad news is meant to drive us to the best news. Pastor Karl powerfully unpacks how Jesus' command in verse 48—“You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect”—is not a cruel impossible demand, but the very reason the Son of God came. We cannot achieve the righteousness God requires, so God freely gives it to us through faith in Christ. Jesus took our unrighteousness and imputes His perfect righteousness to all who repent and trust Him.A hard-hitting, heart-exposing sermon that leaves no room for self-righteousness, but ends with the liberating joy of the gospel: guilty sinners can be clothed in the very righteousness of God and stand before Him as if we had never sinned. Curt Jaimungal dives into Kierkegaard's three stages of life—aesthetic, ethical, and religious — showing how each promises freedom yet traps us in its own way. Through the lens of modern anxiety and constant choice, he explores why the “leap of faith” isn't blind irrationality but a way of living with authenticity when reason hits its limits. In this conversation, I talk with Justin Giboney, cofounder of the AND Campaign and author of Don't Let Nobody Turn You Around, about how we can follow Jesus faithfully in the midst of the culture war. Justin shares how the civil rights generation embodied both conviction and compassion, and what it looks like to recover that kind of moral imagination today. We talk about seeing the sin in ourselves and the image of God in our opponents, moving from blind certainty to humble conviction, and bearing the cross in the public square. This episode calls us to reimagine public faith beyond partisanship and to embody the way of Jesus with courage, truth, and love.Justin Giboney is an attorney, political strategist, and civic leader based in Atlanta, GA. As the co-founder and president of the AND Campaign, a Christian civic organization, Justin focuses on the intersection between faith and politics. In 2012 and 2016 Georgia's 5th congressional district elected him as a delegate for the Democratic National Convention. He's the co-author of Compassion (&) Conviction – The AND Campaign's Guide to Faithful Civic Engagement and the forthcoming book – “Don't Let Nobody Turn you Around: How the Black Church's Public Witness Leads Us out of the Culture War.” His work has been featured in publications such as including the New York Times and Christianity Today.Justin's Book:Don't Let Nobody Turn You AroundJustin's Recommendation:BelieveConnect with Joshua: jjohnson@shiftingculturepodcast.comGo to www.shiftingculturepodcast.com to interact and donate. When it comes to our salvation, is doubt good? This verse has been and is continually used by some to cause many Christians to doubt their salvation. They claim that it is good to question our salvation by examining our works, attitudes, motives, and conduct. But the verse says nothing about examining these things. Understanding the context of the passage--and the whole epistle--is the key to understanding what Paul is saying. In short, he is not telling them to question their salvation. But by using irony, he is making the point that they are saved, and that is how they should know that he is an authentic apostle--because he brought the gospel to them first! In other words, he is saying, "Look at yourselves. Are you saved? Of course you are! Then I must be a true apostle because I got you saved with my gospel." This understanding will free believers who are prone to look within or at their works, which is a quagmire that will stifle growth. God doesn't want us to doubt our salvation! See 1 John 5:13. #Assuranceofsalvation#eternalsecurity#gracelifeministries#Simplybygrace
Romans 7 confronts us with a reality we often try to avoid: the inner battle between who we want to be in Christ and the sin that still entangles us. This passage reveals that even after coming to faith, we face an ongoing struggle with sin—not because we're broken or unsaved, but because the enemy works harder than ever to pull us off course. Paul himself confesses this tension: 'I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.' The central message here is profoundly liberating: death brings freedom from captivity. Through Christ's sacrifice, we've been released from the law that once held us bound. The marriage illustration isn't about divorce but about covenant—we are the bride who broke our vows through sin, and only through Jesus' death can we be freed and united with Him. What makes this particularly relevant to our lives today is the exploration of how God's good gifts—money, sexuality, alcohol, food—can become twisted by sin into chains that bind us. These 'big four' areas of struggle remind us that sin takes common graces and perverts them into bondage. The litmus test of genuine conversion isn't perfection but fruit-bearing: when we're truly connected to Christ, something changes within us. The question we must ask ourselves is deeply personal: What is holding us captive today? What sin keeps us from bearing the fruit God intends for our lives? This passage calls us to honest introspection, genuine repentance, and the courage to walk in the freedom Christ purchased for us.### Sermon Notes**Introduction:**- Pastor Will welcomes the congregation and expresses gratitude for the opportunity to gather and study Scripture.- The focus is on Romans chapter 7, a continuation of the sermon series on Romans, specifically looking at the controversial and often misinterpreted first six verses.**Main Themes:**1. **Universal Sinfulness:** - Paul addresses the reality of sin present in all human lives. - Sin is a common struggle that should be openly discussed despite cultural tendencies to avoid the topic. - Recognizing our depravity is the first step towards understanding the need for redemption through Christ.2. **The Inner Battle:** - Even after accepting Christ, believers struggle with sin. - This internal conflict between the desire to follow Christ and the tendency to sin is a common experience. - Paul's admission of his own struggles in Romans 7:17 reinforces this truth.3. **Freedom Through Christ:** - Paul's illustration of marriage laws demonstrates that death (Christ's sacrifice) frees us from the law's bondage. - Believers are no longer bound by the law of sin due to Christ's atonement, highlighting the transformative power of His death and resurrection.4. **From Captivity to Freedom:** - Sin can enslave us, but death in Christ brings freedom. - Paul uses marriage as an analogy to explain this freedom, cautioning that the text is not a prescription for divorce but an illustration of spiritual freedom.5. **Bearing Fruit:** - True conversion is evidenced by a change in lifestyle and the bearing of spiritual fruit. - Followers of Christ are expected to exhibit visible transformations in their lives. - The presence of fruit is a litmus test for genuine faith.**Practical Applications:**1. **Self-Examination:** - Reflect on personal sins that may be hidden or denied. - Consider areas in life where self-control is lacking and seek accountability.2. **Understanding Freedom:** - Embrace the freedom from sin's bondage by continually turning to Christ and confessing shortcomings. - Recognize the liberty found in Christ, not as a license to sin, but as empowerment to live righteously.3. **Bearing Fruit:** - Actively seek ways to bear fruit in life, such as serving others, practicing generosity, and growing in spiritual disciplines. - Engage in community and accountability groups to foster growth and encourage one another.**Discussion Questions:**1. **Understanding Sin:** - How does acknowledging our own sinfulness enhance our dependence on Christ?2. **Inner Struggles:** - In what ways have you experienced the inner struggle between following Christ and falling back into sin?3. **Freed by His Sacrifice:** - How can we live out the freedom Christ has provided in practical, everyday situations?4. **Response to Freedom:** - What steps can you take to ensure that the freedom purchased by Christ's sacrifice is not taken for granted in your life?5. **Real Evidence:** - What are some specific ways you or someone you know has evidenced their transformation in Christ through the bearing of spiritual fruit?
This week we resume our study of the life of Moses by delving into a passage that challenges us to think deeply about the importance of healthy boundaries. Why are healthy boundaries important? What should my boundaries be? How can I grow my ability to maintain those boundaries? These are some of the core questions we'll explore on Sunday.

Today we look at “Self-Examination.” We are most vulnerable when we are complacent. Too often we get hung up on prophecy instead of life change. Message by Pastor Blake Andrews
After snapshot of the transformaional healing through the death of my beloved purebred Andalusian performance horse, "Angel." It's profoundly more than what meets the eye..... Part 1 was recorded just 3 days after Angel passed on July 3, 2024. Now, 13 months later, I share all of the empowering wisdom in hopes of empowering you through loss....True sustainable healing is an UNconscious, subconscious and conscious phenomenon!!!!! My chosen Godmother, Marilyn joins me as we discuss the mental, emotional and spiritual wisdom to be gained when bravely facing our deepest emotional torment in times of the death of not only a DREAM, but of a loved one. When we experience a heartbreaking loss the last thing our brain wants is to look for the #Enlightenment or #Empowerment or #BlessingsInDisguise ~ Why? Becaues our brain has an emergency override system that causes logic to temporarily trump emotional heartache. The brain is designed to prioritize the ability to function over emotional processing. If we don't process our emotions they become repressed, meaning unconscious to us, feeding into a cycle of being driven by the need to unknowingly mask pain instead of dealing and healing it. This is why elevating and evolving consciousness matters! It's a conscious choice to take the time to feel and process our emotions which brings healing and empowerment. Ultimately, feelings of peace and meaningfulness to enrich our Sense-of-Self, our heart, soul and spirit.... If we don't allow ourselves to dig deeper into the inner workings of the human mind for the sake of self-understanding, acceptance and love, we end up reinforcing the mental patterns that instill pain. The scariest part is that it's NOT obvious. The solution and remedy is to look for what you can't see....for the miracles are actually happening in real time!!!!! Listen to this podcast as I share my journey and why digging deep creates a whole new inner-world..........Fulfilling happiness and gratitude stem from within. #KarenLoveLeeEmpowersYOU #EmpoweringYouThroughUs

Reformed Brotherhood | Sound Doctrine, Systematic Theology, and Brotherly Love
In this episode of the Reformed Brotherhood, Jesse and Tony delve into the crucial Christian discipline of self-examination. Grounding their discussion in Scriptures like Psalm 139:23-24 and 2 Corinthians 13:5, they explore what it means to test and examine oneself in the faith. They emphasize that self-examination is not about undermining assurance but rather about deepening a believer's trust in Christ while fostering spiritual growth and humility. The conversation highlights the necessity of prayer as the starting point for self-examination. Jesse and Tony remind listeners that asking God to search and reveal the state of one's heart is an act of worship and dependence. They also discuss the difference between examining oneself scholastically (assessing knowledge of the faith) and testing oneself by comparing one's life against the standard of Christ. Both are vital to a vibrant and gospel-centered Christian life. Listeners are encouraged to embrace self-examination as a regular and joyful practice that leads to assurance and maturity in Christ. Far from being an exercise in despair, self-examination is presented as a means to greater dependence on the finished work of Christ and a deeper appreciation of the Holy Spirit's role in illuminating sin and pointing believers to their Savior. Key Points: The Biblical Call to Self-Examination The discussion begins with an exploration of Psalm 139 and 2 Corinthians 13:5, where Scripture commands believers to examine their hearts and test their faith. This practice is necessary for spiritual growth and assurance in Christ. Self-Examination as a Spiritual Discipline Jesse and Tony underscore the importance of self-examination as a regular practice, not just for addressing sin but also for recognizing God's work in one's life. They emphasize starting this process with prayer, asking God to reveal both sin and righteousness. The Role of the Holy Spirit in Self-Examination The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in guiding believers through the process of self-examination. He convicts of sin, assures of righteousness, and leads believers to deeper dependence on Christ. Balancing Conviction and Assurance The hosts caution against the danger of turning self-examination into morbid introspection. Instead, they encourage listeners to see it as a hopeful practice that strengthens faith and magnifies Christ's finished work. Questions for Reflection: How often do you take time to examine your heart and motives before God? What role does prayer play in your self-examination process? Are there areas in your life where you see Christ working but haven't taken time to reflect on and thank Him for? How can you balance conviction of sin with assurance in Christ during self-reflection? What Scriptures encourage you to test and examine your faith?

By Robert Gardenhire - We explore the Apostle Paul's admonition to the Corinthian Church to examine themselves in relation to the taking of the Passover. David also knew this was a necessity to remain close to God. We should do the same.
SEND US A MESSAGE! We'd Love to Chat With you and Hear your thoughts! We'll read them on the next episode. There is something that every shepherd ought to have buried in his heart - a desire to protect. Before we even discuss the ability to protect proficiently, it must start with a desire. The fallout from the MLK episodes left a lasting scar. Genuine astonishment took place at the flippant responses people made to MLK's alleged sexual assault. This ought to make us think - "am I willing to protect a predator as long as I think highly of him/her?". Is this something the church has been doing for a long time? Who in the Lord's church, will stand and call her to task? We are to be sober-minded, impartial and to have righteous judgment. This episode is for you, listener. May we all be examined by the Lord and may He remove from within us anything that would contribute to predator curation. There are voices behind abuse. We will listen to three of them. I want us to think of these voices when we flippantly look to defend someone merely because of their status. Mark 7:17-23And when He later entered a house, away from the crowd, His disciples asked Him about the parable. And He said to them, "Are you so lacking in understanding as well? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the person from outside cannot defile him, because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thereby He declared all foods clean.) And He was saying, "That which comes out of the person, that is what defiles the person. For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the person."GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free! Also get the Truth About the French Revolution, multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material, as well as targeted AIs for Real-Time Relationships, BitCoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-Ins. THE TWEET: https://x.com/OGRolandRat/status/1870867316956643703In this episode, I explore the complexities of public perception and the role of self-knowledge in handling criticism as a public figure. I recount my return to Twitter, sharing insights on how emotional responses can skew perspectives during public scrutiny. Drawing from my experiences with being "canceled," I emphasize the importance of understanding our emotions in relation to moral philosophy and self-examination. I argue that a strong foundation in self-knowledge allows for reframing discomfort into opportunities for growth, advocating for reason and virtue over fleeting emotional reactions. Additionally, I critique the tendency for others to project their own biases onto public figures, reinforcing that true morality often involves uncomfortable choices. As I engage with the ideas of influence and relevance, I invite listeners to consider how embracing discomfort for the sake of truth can enrich our philosophical inquiries and relationships.GET MY NEW BOOK 'PEACEFUL PARENTING', THE INTERACTIVE PEACEFUL PARENTING AI, AND AUDIOBOOK!https://peacefulparenting.com/Join the PREMIUM philosophy community on the web for free! Also get the Truth About the French Revolution, multiple interactive multi-lingual philosophy AIs trained on thousands of hours of my material, as well as targeted AIs for Real-Time Relationships, BitCoin, Peaceful Parenting, and Call-Ins.
