The gals are still confused by the Darklina ship and talk about why they feel the Darkling doesn't actually have a redemption arc. And for the first time in LYV history, Nicole and Madison disagree on a character. While Nicole jumps on the Mal Protection Squad, Madison expresses concerns about Mal's character depth. The gals also talk about the TV show and how excited they are about the castings and the potential for a successfully book-adapted TV show. Nothing says adulting more than purchasing a new furnace or getting a flat tire. Those are all the things Jen has been faced with tackling of late, while Nicole is completely content calling her weekly adulting task preparing for the Bills game. Regardless of what you do to show signs of adulthood, the podcasts hosts encourage their listeners to take it step by step. Start with making your bed every day and realize throughout the journey things get hard. While Nicole is adamant that even the most lofty dreams can come true, in pure realist fashion Jen reminds her that she is not Beyoncé and will more than likely never be Beyoncé. Some helpful tips on Adulting truths can be found here. In addition to all the tips to mastering adulthood, this week's That's What We said Podcast dives into all the hype around Bridgerton on Netflix the rumored reality TV swap between Very Cavallari and Southern Charm, along with the fact that All American is back on TV. In the chaotic world we live in, Jen and Nicole discuss the difficulties of finding balance.  It's something that is nearly impossible for some people to do, and even when they do attempt - it's even harder to completely disconnect and be present in the moment. They give some tips on keeping a schedule and trying to have a little fun every now and again. In addition, the podcast hosts give listeners a quick update on the things they are watching and learning about to become more educated on different communities. They also flip the channel to some of the tunes that are keeping them sane and/or inspiring their current state of affairs.  While Nicole has recently found familiarity with Miranda Lambert's new hit Bluebird, Jen is interested in all things Jordan Davis and Chase Rice.

If you’ve ever wanted to capture a moment with a loved one while traveling, you’ve likely faced the awkward encounter of asking a stranger to take a photo, only to realize the final product is entirely subpar. Nicole Mazzeo runs the DIY sex-positive organization, Pleasure Pie. While Nicole was once located in Boston, she now resides oversees - in the Netherlands - which makes this our second international conversation of the year! We actually had this conversation at the beginning of October - before the podcast was corrupted, and before I was hit by a car last week. So it’s good to know that a lot has changed between then and now. But the conversation is full of fun reflection and perspectives on sex education, destigmatizing sexual health, and what it takes to be incredibly neurotic and keep up with so many projects.Pleasure Pie is a small activist organization based in Boston, MA. Its efforts center around sex positivity, body positivity, and positivity about other good things. It makes alternative sexuality education materials (including zines, illustrations, and publications) and experiences (events, conversations, and workshops). Make sure to dig around pleasurepie.org to learn more about the fantastic work that Nicole and her crew do. And visit the Pleasure Pie Etsy shop as well and get yourself, or your students, a bunch of goodies!MUSICAL NOTE:- This week we shared tunes from the new Typesetter LP, “Nothing Blues,” which came out in October! For this round’s New to Two pick, David chose a rather oddball film that came out just last year, Ingrid Goes West. Ingrid is ragingly insecure, tying her self-worth to how close she can get to people with “perfect” lives and how much of their approval she can earn. She does not take rejection well. While Nicole and Brett weren’t sure how much they liked the film, there was a lot of meat to dig into here, and we had some good, deep discussion about mental illness, the role of social media in our lives, and the value of Batman.Next week is Netflix Roulette! Aaron and Nicole's origin stories are incredibly different. While Nicole spent a majority of her life in Connecticut, the Nutmeg state was more of a hub for Aaron; returning every few years after living in other places. The experience of living in other places, and returning to somewhere that was familiar help to shape Aaron's unique story. It also gave him a number of funny stories and an interesting super power that may be shared by some, but only mastered by one (or so he likes to believe)! Listen in to find out more about the pseudo-host of the podcast and the man who has never met a stranger!

The Movie Musical Shakedown

This week Chris and Nicole dig into one of the greatest movie musicals of all-time, 1972's "Cabaret". While Nicole doesn't like Chris's rating for Bob Fosse's choreography, there is no doubt that this is an equally entertaining and disturbing film.
