In Episode 39 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I had the privilege of sitting down with Karen Crouse, Owner and Vintner of Mount Veeder Magic Vineyards out of the Mount Veeder AVA of Napa Valley. In this episode Karen talks about a unique service she provides where she helps clients create their own custom wine. Within this service clients purchase the wine, bottles, labels, capsules, and corks through Karen's personable, consultative services. This gives her clients an opportunity to create a wine that represents them and everything they stand for, and also gives them an opportunity to live vicariously through the eyes of a Vintner. Karen talks about Jeff Fontanella and what it means to have him on board as winemaker and Jeff's ability to craft incredible mountain driven wines such as hers. Karen also talks about what it's like to be a board member for the Mount Veeder AVA council and what it means to help spread the word and support local vintners within her community. With everyhing being said, the one thing you're going to LOVE more than anything in this podcast is Karen's personality and charisma throughout the entire interview. Karen is such an incredible human being and it won't take you long to love and appreciate her just as much as everyone else does. So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode. In this episode, Heather Roberts of the Wine Mind podcast joins me to talk about spectacle. We talk about how Snape is a character that would refuse therapy, Ron and his need for recognition, Harry's longing for a normal life, Rita Skeeter's penchant for the dramatic, and the use of spectacle as a distraction in politics. Rita, in particular, reminds us of so-called journalists in the 24-hour news cycle, which leads us to an interesting discussion on the distinction between entertainment and journalism. In Episode 38 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast I have the privilege of sitting down with Peter Heitz, Winemaker for Shypoke Estate and Turnbull, out of the Oakville AVA of Napa Valley. To suggest that Peter has been involved in the wine industry for quite some time would be an understatement. In fact, Peter's family was some of Napa Valley's original pioneers, settling in the Valley as early as 1896. With that being said, Peter shares the story of his family and their immigration from Alsace France, and the privilege it is to be a 4th generation winemaker raised in Carneros. Peter talks about his time at Beringer Vineyards working alongside winemaking legend Ed Sbragia, and Peter's personal brand Shypoke Estate where he's had the privilege of making wines alongside his wife Meg since 1996. Peter of course shares the story of Turnbull, the inspiration behind the brand by Architect William Turnbull Jr. in 1978, and what it means to make Extraordinary wines for Turnbull scored by Robert Parker of Wine Advovate. This podcast is full of so many things that are sure to educate you on the impact Turnbull is making in the wine industry, but I think it's also appropriate to point out Peter's personality and charisma for doing what he loves each and every day, which will also make an incredible impact on you as well. So sit back, relax, and get ready, because you are going to love this episode. In Episode 37 of the Mr. Wine Guy Podcast, I have the privilege of sitting down with Violet Grgich and Ivo Jeramaz, President and Winemaker for Grgich Hills Estate out of Rutherford, CA. In this episode Violet and Ivo share stories about family, what it means to wear many hats in the wine industry, and what makes them so much more different than other wine brands throughout Napa Valley. Violet shares an in-depth conversation about her father Mike Grgich who is arguably one of the most impactful and influential people the wine industry has ever seen and how her father single-handedly put California on the map in 1976 at the Judgement of Paris wine tasting beating out all the other competators in his category. Violet and Ivo also talk about Austin Hills, what he means to their family and what Austin has done for the legacy of Grgich Hills Estate as we know it today. If there's one thing that I think will resonate with you more than anything in this podcast it's family and how through the strength of family what it means to stay committed to what you believe in no matter what you have to do, or how long it takes you to reach your goals and dreams.
