    I wanted to commemorate Elijah McClain on his one year anniversary after his encounter with police.He was a young man, minding his own business, who walked into a local convenience store for a drink, and walked out, was tackled down to the ground by several police officers because he appeared suspicious. Police held him in a carotid position, otherwise known as a chokehold. Not only was he held down but attending medics who were called to the scene injected with ketamine to calm him.     Miriam Carey was driving with her one-year-old daughter through Washington D.C. when she made a U-turn by a Secret Service security checkpoint. After that U-turn, a seven minute chase ensued around town, causing a shutdown of major streets and put Congress in lockdown.
