A mediocre podcast about family, life, pop culture, guy stuff, or whatever is on my mind at the time.
The BGP family gets a rare snow day, happens only roughly every 10 years where we live. Listen in to see how we made the most of it!
It's our 10 year anniversary! I can't believe we have been doing the show for a decade already. On this special episode, we invite all the previous co-hosts back for their memories of the show. And as a bonus--we introduce a new co-host! Thanks for tuning in the last 10 years!
We're back and so is Dave Filoni's favorite Star Wars character. Listen in as we review the latest Disney+ Star Wars series, and also find out who Darth Beard is! Don't worry, still no spoilers here. #StarWars #Ahsoka
Ok, so generally speaking, don't talk to strangers, kids (unless maybe you have a respected adult around). But in this game it is pretty much fine! Hear this and other tips on this second installment in the Jedi series from EA as Jacob and Mark talk about all the fun they've had playing it. #StarWars #Jedi
It's time for summer fun with BGP. This episode, we review one of the newest additions to Universal Islands of Adventure in Florida--it's the Jurassic World Velocicoaster. Fair warning, when Luke talks about getting blasted--he doesn't mean it in the way that some people take it. He's talking about the blast of acceleration that puts the velocity in velocicoaster. It's a triple co-host episode, so check out all the different points of view from the cast.
We've done a lot of movie reviews over the years, but it's kind of fun that we're getting into some gaming reviews as well. Our more frequent cohosts seems to be more versed in the gaming world than in the movie world. So, fact-check-wise, MGSV TPP wasn't actually released in 2018. It was more like 2015. But otherwise the review stands. Apologies that we reference a sale on the game that ended before the podcast was posted, but timey-wimeyness is all part of the fun of podcasting. Listen in to hear Mark and Jacob's review of the game they both recently enjoyed. If you want to fully appreciate the closing line of the show, just look up Snake's signature line... #MetalGear #MGSV #TPP
Apologies up front, when Jacob and I were recording this episode this episode the local airport was busier than usual, so there's a bit of background noise at the beginning.. However the banter was so genuine that I didn't think we could repeat it again later. Anyway, check out our review of the latest theme park we visited Busch Gardens! The name of the 90 degree drop coaster that we couldn't remember was Sheikra. That and the rest of the Busch Gardens coasters can be seen on YouTube if you're interested. #BuschGardens #Tampa
Fans of Dad jokes are going to love the intro. We haven't done a product review in a while. Kailey is back as guest host--she and Mark are discussing their new tents. It's been a great fall for camping, so we'd like to share our recent experiences. We hope you enjoy it! #HavenTent #TetonSports
How many types of summer camps are there? Well, quite a few it turns out. I'm sure there are even more out there than I can imagine. A new one in our area (and probably others too) that is a new favorite is sailing camp! Because it was new to us, and different, Mark and Kailey decided to dedicate a whole episode to it. Also, check out the beginning of the episode where Mark gives a brief peek into a currently trending TV show. #sailing
More Star Wars? YES! Our family have been big fans of LEGO video games for many years now, and this new one does not disappoint. There's really too much to cram into one episode, but Mark & Luke tried their best. Unfortunately we don't ever happen to find out what Luke meant to say but then forgot. I guess it will remain one of the great mysteries of the universe.
More Star Wars! What a great time to be alive. When I was a kid, we had to wait years for Star Wars content. Now we have it streaming every few weeks. And also, when I was a kid we didn't have Star Wars Legos... Jacob returns as a co-host to discuss the new Disney show centered around his favorite Star Wars character. Listen in for a spoiler-free review of the show and some new insight into some of the content.
Rick Moranis is the actor I couldn't remember. What a weird way to start off an episode description. I guess you'll just have to listen to Mark & Luke's review of the latest entry into the Ghostbusters (canon) franchise. #Ghostbusters.
It's enchanting! Kailey was super excited to do an episode on this recent release to Disney+. She liked it so much she even watched it twice. Listen in to hear the complete review!
Marvel! We love Marvel movies and shows, and this one is no exception. Mark & Kailey review this 2021 movie. Check it out!#BlackWidow
It's not easy to fit a running joke into a 9 minute podcast, but Mark and Luke manage to do it. Also it's only fitting that a movie about a ride filled with bad puns, should also have a few bad puns. Mark and Luke review Disney's latest theme-park inspired movie.#JungleCruise
This one has been a long time in the works. The BGP family started playing Undertale about four years ago. It's come and gone during that time, largely based on the hardware it was on. But at the request of my co-host Luke, we're finally doing an episode on this game. Oh, and for the old folks in the audience, RPG stands for Role Playing Game. Stay determined.#undertale
When a new Pixar movie come out, we have to see it. Luke & Mark review this sea-based adventure. Wait til you hear how they watched it!
Ever wonder what happened to our Star Wars heroes in between scenes in the movies? Now you can find out! Mark & Kailey review the animated micro-series from Disney. Remember the Forces of Destiny will be with you, always. #StarWars #Disney
It's not a browser tab, or the 1980s diet soda. Nope, it's Totally Accurate Battle Simulator! Is it totally accurate? You'll have to listen to Luke & Mark to find out! #TABS
Its time for our annual recap episode, and what a year it was! I'm sure nobody will forget 2020 anytime soon. Listen in to the BGP family's highlights and challenges from the last year. #2020
2020 was a pretty lean year as far as movies go, but this one had good timing. Plus it was released to Disney+ this year also. Listen in to BGP's review of Disney's latest live action film! #Mulan #Disney
We're back! Apologies for the extended hiatus. Pandemic and all that had us busy for a while. Listen up to what we've been doing during our new pandemic lifestyle. #AmongUs #Imposter
Was having so much fun in the beautiful weather that I almost forgot to post this one. Seems like for most of us growing up that Scooby Doo in some form was always there. Mark & family review the latest installment in the franchise. See if you can solve the mystery of this episode! #Scoob
We're still alive and healthy. Hope all of you are too! In this episode, the BGP family recounts the time in the home and what our experience has been like. Definitely an interesting time. This one is full of funny misspeaks all around--enjoy! #COVID
It's been a while, but we're back. Our family recently watched the Mr. Rogers movie. Kailey and Mark review the movie complete with all the classic favorite Mr. Roger's elements. Also, apologies for the background noise around minute 1--it turns out the microphone was extra sensitive at that point.
This episode contains spoilers for Star Wars Episode 9. Okay, so for the first time we break our strict no spoiler policy. But there was really no other way to review this film without spoilers, and we really wanted to review it. We have an extra co-host this time and it's a lot of fun. May the Force be with you. #StarWars #RiseofSkywalker
What's a plot synopsis? Listen to this episode and you'll be the first to know! BGP is big fans of historical movies about bands. This one isn't quite so historical, but it does not disappoint! Check out our review, and of course, if you're a Beatles fan you'll enjoy it. Just for fun, I updated the icon on this episode to our own family VW Beetle. #Yesterday #Beatles
We're back! It's been a crazy summer, but we were finally able to record the episode we've been wanting to do for weeks. Listen in to hear Mark & Luke review the finale to the Dragons trilogy. Oh, and when we discuss Clone Wars, I meant seasons, not episodes. #Howtotrainyourdragon #Thehiddenworld
I heard other families talk about this, but never knew what it was until Jacob was asked to participate. Check out this episode to find out what it is! Oh, and when putting on a tux, you have to play James Bond music. #Cotillion
Finally, episode 138. Maybe next time they'll stay in the correct order. It's our traditional year in review episode. Our co-host Kim is back. Listen in to her and Mark recap the year and set a few goals for 2019.
Ok, still missing episode 138, but maybe we'll fix that next time. On this episode, Mark and Jacob describe a wildlife encounter that was super cool--in every sense of the word. If you're considering a manatee adventure, check out this episode. #Manatee
What happened to BGP 138? Due to a small error in planning, we ended up slightly out of sequence, but I didn't want to delay publishing this one. Listen in to find out about this 80's animated film. The answer is her name is Amalthea. What is the question? #LastUnicorn
The third blue person in X-Men is Nightcrawler. It made a great joke in the X-Men Apocalypse. What was the question? Tune in to find out. This was a very special episode to celebrate BGP's fourth year of podcasting, and it was a lot of fun. #StarWars #Marvel #JurassicPark
BGP headquarters was in the area affected, but far enough from the eye to have weathered the storm in good shape. This episode covers some of our co-hosts perspective as they remember getting ready for the storm and then the storm itself.
After three attempts at recording and a week in production, Mark and Jacob finally succeed in publishing their spoiler-free review of the latest Avengers flick. This is the beginning of the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Too bad Thanos started down the dark path. He's gaining great power, Spidey should remind him that with that comes great responsibility. #Avengers #InfinityWar #Marvel
"You have a Millennium Falcon?" That's not the whole quote, but part of it. You'll have to listen to the review to find out the context. Luke (co-host, not Skywalker) is back to help Mark review this 2018 film. Mark has been waiting for this movie since he read the book years ago. Find out if it lived up to expectations. #ReadyPlayerOne
This movie is in part Martin Scorsese's tribute to the early filmmakers. It's also interesting to see his interpretation of how World War I affecting the early days of film. Listen in to hear the rest of Mark and Jacob's spoiler-free review of the film! #Hugo
This was missing from the audio, but Woody Harrelson's character's name was Beckett. Check out Mark & Jacob's review of the latest entry into the Star Wars Universe! #StarWars #Solo
For a lot of folks in the northern states of the US & Canada, it seemed like the winter of 2018 would never end. For our family, it meant more winter fun. Mark & Kailey recap our skiing adventure and discuss Keystone resort in Colorado. If you've got kids and love to ski, this episode is a must! #Skiing #Keystone
Why would anyone make a ship out of toenails? Well, mythology is weird. So is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But this movie is amazing! Jacob and Mark review, but that's not all. Listen in for a cliff hanger at the end. #Ragnarok #Marvel
Yep, it's that time of year again. Our special co-host Kailey looks forward to it every year. Time to break out the dancing shoes for some of the best quality Daddy Daughter moments, and support a local food drive at the same time. I know my little girl will keep growing up, but there are fathers who have kept this tradition for decades, and I hope that I can be one of them. #DaddyDaughterDance
What's a pop culture icon of childhood? Got to be the treehouse. We've had a treehouse before, but this one offered the opportunity to expand to really fun proportions. Kailey & Mark describe it and offer up some ideas if you're planning a treehouse of your own. I have to admit, even as an adult I've really enjoyed it--glad it has a few places well suited to a grown up or two also. #treehouse
Happy 2018! We've made it somewhat of a tradition to recap the past year on the show. It's one of my original goals in doing this podcast. I've really enjoyed doing these shows every year and they get more fun with each one. How was you 2017? Listen in and maybe we've had some shared experiences. #2017
It truly is a great age in which we live where there is Star Wars content being produced regularly. Also, Star Wars being released at the beginning of the kids' Christmas break is pretty awesome for a busy family. Listen in for a spoiler-free review of the latest from a galaxy far, far away. #StarWars #LastJedi
For those of you who have ridden the Pirates ride at Disney, this is one of my favorite lines being played as you pass through the first curtain of fog at the beginning of the ride. Listen in as Mark & Luke (huge Pirates movie fan) review the last of Captain Jack Sparrow's adventures. Also, Gore Verbinski was the name I was trying to remember--not that he's involved in this film, but he laid the foundation for this series of movies. #PiratesoftheCarrribean #Disney #DeadMenTellNoTales
BGP is celebrating three years of podcasting! It's been a fun journey. Thanks for sticking with us. We take a look back at the last year. Also, a preview of things to come in the next few episodes.
I am Groot. We had watched this movie once before, but had to go back and watch it once again to give it a solid review. As compensation for the delay on this episode, we added in a brief discussion at the end of the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I am Groot. #Marvel
This was a strange but really fun episode to record. You'll understand why when you listen. I think despite our strict no spoiler policy, that we actually included a spoiler of our own episode. If you find it and post a comment on the website, I'll mention you by name on the next show. Also you'll really enjoy the description of the course that went around and there and back and around and back again. Check it out!
Syzygy is a real word, and fun to say. It's the straight line configuration of 3 celestial bodies in a gravitational system. Just like the eclipse last week! Tune in to hear how to earn a cub scout badge for eclipse viewing. Also a very detailed explanation of how to build an eclipse viewer from our guest host, Luke. #eclipse
There's 104 days in summer vacation...The rest of the lyrics go to Phineas & Ferb. However, one way to spend a few days off and get rid of some extra Balsa wood is to build a boat. Listen in to find out more. #Boat #Ship
Yeah, basically any time we do something fun with the kids we call it a party. Pizza party night, ice cream party, etc. So we have several parties a week. Star Wars & Ice Cream, it's a natural combination. Also can't wait to finally see Clone Wars Lost Episodes. #StarWars #CloneWars
