This week we take a trip to a galaxy far far away and talk about a lot of things Star Wars! And the thing is, the Star Wars universe is so vast and the history & lore is so deep that we could never talk about it all in one show, I would say we skimmed over it at best and that still brought a great hour of talk about the world we grew up loving in Star Wars. The great ships, the light sabers, the jedi & sith using the force, bounty hunters, different planets and thanks to Jon Favreau and Disney for putting out the great new tv series based on the Star Wars Universe as well. Find us wherever you get your podcasts from and when you are done listening, please leave a rating and review I hope you all enjoy the show! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/retrolif4you/support

Hey Listener, grab your lightsaber and power up the Millennium Falcon because Stand Up Comedian/Co-Host of the Bastard Sermon Luke Young is back on the show and we're talking about Star Wars. This week we're chatting about who and what we love (Light Side) and hate (Dark Side) the most in the Star Wars universe. Topics this week include: It's Luke's third appearance on the show and he wants to be courted. People call you Lukey? Have you thought about just being Brendan Schaub, Bapa? Luke doesn't trust people, that's why he doesn't have a sports car. Is it tattooing anime or tattooing manga? Star Wars: a family affair. Luke Young: Amatuer Star Wars historian. Don't disregard the EU (a recurring theme of this episode). Just because it's different doesn't mean it's good. How embarrassing must it be to get taken out by R2-D2? Balancing the Force is basically AA. We don't want political statesmen in our laser sword fantasy. Vice-Admiral Holdo's “plan” was the Titanic. The Ole Miss Admiral Ackbars and other sick pop culture mascots. Hey CIA, you can lie to us about Greedo or JFK, not both. Get these space scooter kids out of here. What is your favorite alien that doesn't speak English and your host has issues with Ewoks. Head kicking Porgs. What happened to the Rancor Monster Trainer? Your host really needs to get a producer for the show. Keep the Star Wars color palette neutral. Land Speeders the Toyota Corollas of the Star Wars Universe. Space Boston. Ugh, Jar Jar Binks. Proto sabers suck. You can murder all of the aliens and dudes in helmets that you want. To help the show grow please give it 5 Stars on Apple Podcast or Spotify. Do you know a friend who would be into the subject matter of this episode? Please share the episode link with them.
Terence is joined by attorney Derrick Page and our special correspondent Rhyane Wagner today as they deconstruct the federal charges brought forth against the officers involved in the Breonna Taylor case. So many lies! And of course, Daniel Cameron (the presiding attorney general) did not escape the roasting he was due (again). Also in the news - Brittney Griner was sentenced to 9 years in prison in Russia, which brings the practice of hostage diplomacy to the forefront. The panel discusses whether the punishment fits the crime and the imbalance in the trade. Lastly and on a lighter note, there has been a kerfuffle in the Star Wars Universe over a Black character. Again. It's fiction people! Pull up and be "edutained."
50 Episodes. 50 Episodes since the show came back from the YouTube Daily News Show during the high point of a global pandemic, but we've reached a major milestone for the podcast. Hours Upon Hours of Content, Tons of Bonus Reviews, and Sponsored by The EveryDayFans since 40. But we've reached it... The Season Two Finale! Hello and Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! And boy, hard to believe we've made it this far, and this episode might be the biggest yet since Episode 3's THREE HOUR talk (Looking back, that should've been broken up into three episodes). It features Dwayne Johnson Black Adam drama from a revelation The Rock has made regarding Shazam, a sudden explosive take on Disney Star Wars in the wake of the announcements of Star Wars: Hidden Empire and Star Wars: Revelations in their comic book universe, and further dramas in regards to Ezra Miller and Their Future and The WarnerBros. Discovery Merger Aftereffects (We can't seem to escape all the drama going on over there.) The CW Network is set to be bought outright. Still, WBD pledges the continuation of Scripted Content on the platform despite cutting 200 Episodes of Sesame Street, Infinity Train, and 30+ Other shows from HBO MAX, which ruffled feathers in the community outside of a growing movement to demand the release of HBO MAX's Batgirl after filming was complete, music was scored, and all that remained was the editing process. Avatar: The Last Airbender seems to be getting a console game soon, while The New Tales of The Borderlands also has a leaked release date in October. Unity rejects a 17.5 BILLION DOLLAR Takeover offer to remain their status quo as The Embracer Group acquires Middle-Earth Enterprises and the video game and movie rights to the whole of Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit as we learn an Iron Man Open World Game was in the works from the creators of Just Cause before Disney and Marvel canned in 2012. The Knights of The Old Republic Remake looked to be in trouble back in July but now seems to have been moved around in The Embracer Group to Saber Interactive from Aspyr. DC Comics, meanwhile, travels back to the 90s with new WildCATS Ongoing and a second Spawn/Batman Crossover and begins a New Golden Age with Geoff Johns at the helm of a new Justice Society of America ongoing and Stargirl: The Lost Children Miniseries. Final Fantasy Director discusses the franchise is currently struggling despite the breadth of content coming out over the next two years alone, such as FF7R Rebirth, Crisis Core, FF16, and expansions in Moblie and PC Gaming. And Streaming in The United States has overtaken Cable/Broadcast Television for the first time ever in the long history of Neilson. It's been a wild ride here on Neo-Reality Collective, and it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon; with 50 Episodes in the can, we look forward to coming back with Season Three, but in the meantime, we'll be back doing bonus reviews for Event Comics A.X.E.: Judgement Day and Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths along with HBO's House of The Dragon. "Star Wars" is a window into a larger universe, a universe that has the same flawed characters, hope-filled adventures and deep galaxy-altering questions as our own. A story like "Star Wars" helps us expand our own imagination, helps us better grapple with how we share and reflect upon our own stories. We dream bigger about what's possible in our lives and our society as a result. And, maybe, we learn something new about how God works. Don't agree? Today's episode of AMDG may help put your doubts to rest. Today's guests our Dr. Benjamin Espinoza and Fr. Ryan Duns, SJ. Ben is the associate vice president for online education and assistant professor of practical theology at Roberts Wesleyan College. He's also an ordained minister in the Wesleyan Church. Ryan is an assistant professor in the theology department as Marquette University. He's also the assistant department chair and director of undergraduate studies. And, he's a Jesuit priest. Both of our guests are eminently qualified to discuss theology, philosophy and pop culture. But what makes them particularly amazing guests today is that they were both involved in a brand new, very cool book, “Theology and the Star Wars Universe.” Ben was the editor; Ryan contributed an essay — and he talks about that in our conversation. Even if you're not a huge Star Wars fan, you'll appreciate the conversation, the grappling with making sense of and encountering God in our culture today. More than 130,000 people are expected to attend the four-day pop culture party which begins Thursday. It's the first, full scale in-person Comic Con since 2019. We check in with some hard core cosplayers from the 501st Legion, a worldwide costuming organization run by fans dedicated to creating screen accurate bad guy costumes from the Star Wars Universe. Then, a current terrorism advisory from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security warns extremist groups could exploit high-profile public events to justify acts of violence. And, court and police records from 2012 reveal mutual accusations of domestic violence by now Democratic Party Chairman Will Rodriguez-Kennedy and an ex-boyfriend. Next, a brief Hilton Bayfront Hotel strike underscores tough economic realities for San Diego workers. And, there's a bill making its way through the state legislature that would create a new kind of court system in California with the authority to compel some people to receive mental health treatment, even if they don't want it. Finally, with a heat wave scorching the West, environmentalists are looking for ways to cool things down. One way for urban areas to beat the heat is to consider the power of shade.

Join Erik and Tage this week as they are joined by Lori from All Enchanting Ears, and Ace, lifelong Disney fan as they discuss Where Star Wars Should Go, Surprise Disney Trips, Dining Preferences, Nighttime Spectaculars. Support the podcast by going to https://www.thehubcrawl.com/support. Question 1: With the Disney+ Obi-Wan show having wrapped up, where should Disney take the Star Wars Universe next? This can be a different time frame, or different characters, or different methods like shows vs movie, etc. Question 2: Have you ever surprised anyone or been surprised by anyone with a trip to a Disney park and how did it happen? Question 3: What's your preference: table service dining, quick service, or bring your own food? A mix is OK too! I guess this is more of a WDW thing. Think Blue Bayou as table service. Jolly Holiday is quick service. Bringing your own food is throwing a sandwich in your backpack. Question 4: What is your all time favorite Nighttime Spectacular, and why is it Fantasmic!? Supporter Bonus Question: If you could go back to any year at any Disney park, what year and park would you go back in time to and why?

FAIR WARNING: This episode is another nerdy one...because we invited on, none other than cinephile and Doctor of Film and now Chemistry himself, Dr. Nicholas Akkawi, for another genre masterclass of sorts but this time about a niche in the sci-fi genre that is the Star Wars Universe. In this episode, we specifically talk about the different trilogies, the pros and cons of the series, and our thoughts on the ever-expanding stories that Lucasfilm and Disney are putting out with the many new series in development for Disney+, the streaming platform that is home to every Star Wars film, animated and live-action series, micro-series, shorts and series. So put your Millennium Falcons in Hyperdrive and go forth with the force... If you need to catch up with the various Star Wars Films and Series, the following projects are currently streaming on Disney+: - The Skywalker Saga (Episodes I - IX) - Star Wars Anthology Films (Rogue One, Solo) - The Mandalorian (Season 1-2) - The Book of Boba Fett (Season 1) - Star Wars: The Clone Wars (Seasons 1-7) - Star Wars: Rebels (Seasons 1-4) - Star Wars: The Bad Batch (Season 1) - Star Wars: Visions (Season 1) - Much more! With more becoming available in the coming months. The next Star Wars project, OBI-WAN KENOBI, hits Disney+ on May 27th, 2022 with weekly episodes released every Friday through June 22. --- Follow us on Instagram: @thehollywoodchai and Twitter: @ChaiHollywood Questions or Topics you want covered?
