Going to bed early. Not scrolling on social media- it can be fun, yes, but too much makes me feel anxious. Talking with friends and with Dan. I started seeing a therapist. Making time- not having kids definitely helps with this, but as you all know, I can definitely over-schedule myself. I have been prioritizing family events and not much else. I don't enjoying saying no or seeing so much white space on the calendar- but I know I'll need it and I often do. On a Happy Note Friday night game night at my parents with my brother, Dan and the kids. We played a few spirited rounds of Skip-Bo and watched the Taylor Swift Eras tour movie on tv. Mom, Riley, Millie and I had a sleepover then spent Saturday doing some thrift and clothing shopping, went out for lunch and brought home Crumbl cookies to taste test (with my Dad/Pepere). My phone fell into the cookie with the MOST sticky frosting. It was hilarious! We all celebrated St. Patrick's Day at my cousin Susan's annual party. I had a blast catching up with cousins and especially playing with some of the little kiddos. Seeing the Girl from North Country (Broadway in Boston series). While Megg and I did not enjoy the show, its always fun to experience live theater and the music was beautiful. Monthly massage! Lunch with Mom, Dad, Kris and Aila. Garret's playoff hockey game! The second meaning is based on the enduring friendship and marriage between the founding coaches, Dean and Paula Roberts. In this context, RyR stands for Roberts and Roberts. Well friends of the podcast it's the last episode of 2020. It's been a bit of a year and Sam is feeling the effects of it while Lisa is lamenting over no more Christmas oranges. The ladies however got to interview the sister duo of Mouse and Weens this week! It was so much fun and they learned a little too much about garden gnomes! Lisa and Sam came to realize that Canadians know a lot more about Mericans than they know about us! On Boxing day the HHG and Lisa ventured out to grab a snack at the food court but the line up was crazy long!! Stupid Covid!! Did you know bananas can tell you a lot about people? According to Lisa, there are different bananas for each kind of person. A green banana is a fit and trim and an all bruised banana means you have let yourself go!! Yes, this came from Lisa's brain!! Sam disagrees and thinks people look like walking skeletons or like their dogs. Whatever floats your boat!! They are talking about Celebrity IOU again but it's because it's so darn warm and fuzzy!! In memory of #breonnataylor we are releasing a special episode today to honor her life. Before she was a hashtag or became a headline Breonna or Bre’ as she was affectionally known to her friends and family was a then 26-year-old woman who loved her work in healthcare and spending quality time with her aunts playing cards. Phase 10 and Skip-Bo were her favs. Breonna Taylor was born June 05, 1993 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Tamika Palmer and she spent the early part of her life in Grand Rapids, Michigan before moving to Louisville when she was a teen. Breonna graduated from Western High School in 2011, and later went on to experience college at University of Kentucky. She was an accomplished EMT for the city of Louisville. She worked full time as ER Technician for Jewish East and PRN for Norton Healthcare. She served on the front line and dedicated her life to the care of others. On her Facebook page, Taylor described her love for helping others and stated “Working in health care is so rewarding! It makes me so happy when I know I’ve made a difference in someone else’s life!” As an essential worker she put her life on the line daily fighting one of the deadliest pandemics of our time only to have it tragically taken away at the hands of police. In mid-March Breonna went to bed like the rest of us, but she didn’t get to see the light of day as police officers barged into Taylor’s home in Louisville, Kentucky, in the middle of the night and discharged a spray of bullets that struck and killed the 26-year-old EMT. Breonna Taylor was a daughter, Breonna Taylor a granddaughter, Breonna Taylor a sister, Breonna Taylor a niece and a best friend to so many especially Kenneth Walker. But above else Breonna Taylor was a HUMAN. She died before her story could truly unfold. Now it’s our duty to continue to carry the torch and honor her name. Growing up in the Midwest, I loved playing cards. One of the card games that I enjoyed playing with my brother is Skip-Bo. I really haven't found many others that play it, though.
