In this episode of No More Late Fees, Danielle and Jackie welcome back their Star Wars ride-or-die, Maria, to embark on an epic (and slightly chaotic) mission: ranking their top five Star Wars characters to date. It's not just about choosing the hottest Jedi or the sassiest Sith—it's about deciding who's a certified simp and who's worthy of a seat on the Millennium Falcon. Spoiler alert: Anakin's a red flag, Kylo Ren's the family's moody bad boy, and Han Solo's still the original galactic heartthrob. Plus, Danielle might just be developing a crush on Gwendoline Christie, while Jackie contemplates whether Donald Glover's Lando is a worthy heir to the legendary Billy Dee Williams. But the real challenge? Sacrificing two of their picks to the unforgiving Sarlacc pit. Tears are shed, thirst is discussed, and somehow, Pedro Pascal's swagger is too powerful to cut. To top it all off, Maria shares her employee picks, which naturally include some Star Wars classics and a Vin Diesel favorite because, yes, The Iron Giant is still undefeated. Tune in for all the laughs, pop culture debates, and a surprising amount of Pedro Pascal worship.—No More Late Fees https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com909-601-NMLF (6653)—Follow Us on Social:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefeesYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees Twitterhttps://x.com/NoMoreLateFees —CONQUERingmyconquering.com10% Off Code: JACKIE10—NostaBeautyhttps://nostabeauty.com 20% Off Code: NMLF—MariaInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/mariawatcheseverything/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mariawatcheseverything—Maria's Previous EpisodesBend it Like Beckhamhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/bend-it-like-beckhamKickin' it with Mariahttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/kickin-it-with-mariaHoleshttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/holesDiggin' it with Mariahttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/diggin-it-with-mariaStar Wars Episode 2 - Attack of the Cloneshttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/star-wars-episode-2-attack-of-the-clonesVillain Worship: Ranking the Hottest Movie Baddies with Mariahttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/villain-worship-ranking-the-hottest-movie-baddies-with-maria
It's been 45 years since The Empire Strikes Back hit us with one of the most iconic twists in movie history, so Amy and Paul are hopping in the Millennium Falcon and heading to a galaxy far, far away. This week, they talk about how Mark Hamill struggled as the only human on set, the impact it had on movies, and why R2-D2 can be a little bit annoying. Send us a textThis week, we sip from the Holy Grail (okay, it's a Japanese beer cup), explore theme park trauma (Universal's nut-busting coaster design, we're looking at you), and go deep on cursed objects—like the time Post Malone got possibly haunted via shoulder contact. We also ride the Hogwarts Express, review Hagrid's rollercoaster, debate who really deserves the Millennium Falcon pilot seat, and relive Disneyland ghost stories involving, projectors, and maybe a Shop-Vac full of grandma. All this and so much more
Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTHLuke Skywalker has vanished! And the First Order has taken control. All that's left is to find Luke and destroy him. Leia, Luke's sister, is searching for him. If she can find him, then there's still hope to bring some order and peace to the galaxy. That takes us to the planet Jakku. We meet a pilot named Poe who is on a mission to retrieve a map. He has the map—something the First Order finds out. So they show up and start blasting, all "pew pew." Kylo Ren arrives, and he's clearly the one in charge. He's even got a voice thing like Darth Vader. He's awesome. He captures Poe, convinced he has the map. But Poe already gave it to his droid, BB-8.We see one stormtrooper who seems to be struggling—maybe starting to doubt if he's on the right side of history. His name is FN-2187, but we'll call him Finn. Then we meet Rey. She's out there grinding, scavenging for quarter portions. It's tough out there. One evening, she finds BB-8 and likes him enough that she turns down an offer of 60 portions just to keep him.Meanwhile, Kylo Ren uses the Force to learn more about BB-8. Finn decides he's had enough and helps Poe escape—they steal a ship, but it's shot down. Finn survives and assumes Poe was killed when the ship sinks into quicksand. All that's left is Poe's jacket.Finn meets Rey and BB-8. The First Order is hot on their trail, so they steal the Millennium Falcon and escape.Han Solo and Chewbacca track the Falcon and agree to team up with them.We start to see Kylo Ren struggling with the pull of the light side. When Supreme Leader Snoke orders an attack on the New Republic, he senses Kylo's hesitation. He suspects it's because of Kylo's father… HAN SOLO! Kylo says it won't be a problem, but then we see him speaking to Darth Vader's helmet, asking for strength to stay on the dark side.Aboard the Falcon, Han realizes that BB-8's map is incomplete. He explains that Luke tried to rebuild the Jedi Order but went into exile after an apprentice turned to the dark side.Han takes the group to meet Maz, a cantina owner, who offers to help get BB-8 to the Resistance. The Force draws Rey to an underground vault where she finds Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber. When she touches it, she has disturbing visions and decides not to take it. Maz gives the lightsaber to Finn for safekeeping. The First Order attacks and tracks down the Falcon. They're hunting for BB-8. Kylo captures Rey because he knows she's seen the map.Resistance fighters led by Poe arrive to save the others. And guess what—LEIA IS BACK, BABY!Rey resists Kylo's mind-reading attempts and realizes she may have the Force. She tries a Jedi mind trick on a stormtrooper—and it works. She escapes just before Kylo comes to take her to Snoke, who is not pleased. The Resistance devises a plan to destroy the First Order's new superweapon by targeting its weakness—because seriously, these guys never learn. Using the Falcon, Han, Chewbacca, and Finn infiltrate the base. Finn finds Rey, who's already working on escaping, and they plant explosives.Han confronts Kylo, calling him by his real name—Ben—and pleads with him to leave the dark side. Kylo, with tears on his cheeks, seems tempted… but then stabs Han through the chest with a lightsaber and lets him fall to his death. Chewbacca, enraged, shoots Kylo and injures him. They manage to escape while Rey and Finn head into the snowy woods.Kylo follows. He knocks Rey out with the Force and duels Finn, eventually defeating him. Rey regains consciousness, uses the Force to call the lightsaber to her, and fights Kylo. She wins.Chewbacca rescues Rey and the injured Finn, and they escape aboard the Falcon just as the First Order base explodes.Back at the Resistance base, R2-D2 wakes up and reveals he has the missing piece of the map to Luke.Rey travels to a remote island and finds Luke atop a cliff. She holds out his lightsaber.

News: Star Wars Celebration Japan just wrapped up and there were some new details about changes coming to Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Starting on May 22, 2026, guests will have more control over their experience piloting the Millennium Falcon. Crews will be in charge of the destination that they travel to. New locations like Bespin, the wreckage of the second Death Star around Endor, or Coruscant will be options. The engineers will also be able to communicate with Grogu. These additions will coincide with the theatrical release of The Mandalorian and Grogu. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/the-mandalorian-grogu-and-new-crew-controls-coming-to-smugglers-run/ https://blogmickey.com/2025/04/new-locations-smugglers-run-mandalorian-update-2026/ April is Earth Month, and this year Disneyland is doing something unique. Guests are being encouraged to participate in the Food Scraps program. The program takes uneaten food and turns it into nutrient-rich feed for farm animals. Galactic Grill, Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, Cafe Daisy, Pym Test Kitchen, Flo's V8 Cafe, and Cozy Cone Motel are participating. Guests are given a green food scraps container to place leftover food into, which can then be emptied into a green food-only receptacle. – https://www.micechat.com/413577-disneyland-news-star-wars-updates-70th-anniversary-offers-guest-problems/ An unexpected, but fun activity appeared in Toon Town this week. Signs for a missing churro have been posted around the land, with a phone number to call. When called, Donald Duck picks up and talks about his missing churro. – https://www.micechat.com/413577-disneyland-news-star-wars-updates-70th-anniversary-offers-guest-problems/ Fans of the Disneyland Starbucks tumblers have a new variation. This tumbler comes with one of two mystery pins. Currently, there is a SoCal Resident Ticket offer through May 15th, and a Disneyland Anniversary 4-day Ticket valid from May 16th through August 14th from $100 per day. – https://www.micechat.com/413577-disneyland-news-star-wars-updates-70th-anniversary-offers-guest-problems/ The fires at the beginning of the year in the Southern California area were tragic, and impacted so many. Disney committed $15 million to the effort back in January. Disney has added “Disney Field Days” where they go and bring carnivals with characters, games, activities, and more to locations impacted. Recently, two schools in Brentwood, Disney cast members and VoluntEARS put on these events – to over 900 students. Two people who lost special items in the fires got a version of them back. One eight-year-old lost her giant stuffed Tigger in the fire, Disney replaced it with one that had traveled around Disney's Animal Kingdom. A teacher, who lost her Disney-themed classroom in the fire, including her collection of mouse ears, was presented with over 50 ears from Disney Parks, stores, and VoluntEARS. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/la-fire-relief-efforts-how-disney-helps-the-communities-we-call-home/ SnackChat: New Sweets – https://www.instagram.com/p/DIwawmMx3iH/?img_index=7 Discussion Topic: Michael Holland host of From Out of the Past Podcast https://www.instagram.com/fromoutofthepastpodcast/ https://linktr.ee/hollandimaginarium https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK7GRiUhhB8 https://www.youtube.com/@AlextheHistorian

A Frozen Adventure in a Galaxy Far, Far AwayIn this episode of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast, hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell are joined by special guest Francis Zagarigo to discuss the iconic sequel Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. As a certified young person who had never seen the original trilogy before, Francis brings a fresh perspective to this beloved sci-fi classic. The hosts dive deep into what makes Empire such a standout film in the Star Wars saga. Nathan shares how this sequel takes a darker, more character-driven approach compared to the spectacle-focused original. Unlike the triumphant ending of A New Hope, Empire delivers a murkier "to be continued" conclusion that initially disappointed audiences but has since become celebrated as the franchise's pinnacle achievement.Krissy and Francis analyze the crackling romance between Han and Leia, from their contentious banter to the iconic "I love you"/"I know" exchange. Meanwhile, Francis expresses particular delight with the ice planet Hoth and less enthusiasm for the unnecessary tauntaun deaths. The trio also discusses Yoda's introduction, marveling at how a puppet became one of cinema's most believable and profound characters.Other topics covered:The Millennium Falcon's persistent mechanical problems and lovable characterDarth Vader's dramatic dinner table reveal in Cloud CityThe controversial "I am your father" twist and its impactLando Calrissian's introduction and betrayalThe special edition changes and how they compare to the originalLuke's questionable decision to abandon his Jedi trainingThe surprisingly minimal consequences of losing a hand in the Star Wars universeIn their final ratings, both hosts give Empire a perfect 10, acknowledging its profound influence on their love of cinema, while Francis awards it a respectable 7. The episode concludes with recommendations for viewers who enjoyed Empire: Nathan suggests the Disney+ series Skeleton Crew, Krissy recommends the What We Do in the Shadows episode featuring Mark Hamill, and Francis proposes Mr. & Mrs. Smith for those who enjoy the enemies-to-lovers dynamic.Whether you're a lifelong Star Wars fan or experiencing the trilogy for the first time, this episode offers both nostalgic appreciation and fresh insights into what makes The Empire Strikes Back an enduring sci-fi masterpiece. --We couldn't do this without your support of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast! Today we were delighted to welcome Michael Kao, Private Investor at Kao Family Office and CEO & Portfolio Manager of Akanthos Capital Management. Michael founded Akanthos in 2002 and transitioned to focus on his family office in 2019. Michael is also the author of "Kaoboy Musings” on Substack (linked here). Previously, he was a Portfolio Manager at Canyon Capital Advisors, where he co-founded the Canyon Arbitrage Fund. Michael started his career in the commodities unit at J.Aron/Goldman Sachs and has over 30 years of experience across commodities, credit, convertible arbitrage, and distressed investing. As we approach what President Trump has coined “Liberation Day” on April 2nd, we were eager to find someone who could help us all better understand the rationale behind these developments and their implications. In recent Substack posts, Michael has shared some of his interesting theories and makes a case that what appears chaotic and unpredictable might actually be part of an audacious but coordinated plan. We were thrilled to hear Michael's latest insights on market volatility, energy dynamics, the evolving investment landscape, and why April 2nd might just be another stop on the way to (hopefully) something better. In our conversation, we first ask Michael for his view on the complexities surrounding the Trump Administration's actions and how to interpret the end goals of their policies. He shares an analogy comparing the current U.S. economic environment to navigating an asteroid field (like Han Solo's decision to fly the Millennium Falcon directly into an asteroid field when being chased by the Empire in Star Wars), highlighting several key economic challenges to manage including the current 7% non-wartime deficit, short-term debt reliance, geopolitical tensions, and the need for broader economic recalibration. We explore various ways to manage the U.S. debt including the possibility of terming out debt and reshoring manufacturing, the impact of oil prices on the broader economy, the weakening U.S. dollar, and how the Trump Administration's shift from a “carrot” to “stick” approach in policy negotiations may affect market dynamics. We discuss potential scenarios for a U.S. recession or economic slowdown, the growth of the private equity market, the increasing role of private credit in financing private equity-backed companies, and the role of the Federal Reserve in the broader economic picture. Michael provides insights on how sovereign wealth funds could help manage the U.S. national balance sheet by leveraging geographic assets, his experience in transitioning to managing his family office and focusing more on uncorrelated private investments, the potential for a black swan event, the risk of ongoing geopolitical tensions escalating, the importance of thinking outside the box, and much more. We greatly appreciate Michael joining and sharing his expertise and insights with us all. As you'll hear, we discuss some of Michael's recent posts. His piece entitled “Mental Models – Navigating The Asteroid Field With Trump 2.0” is linked here and the Kaos Theory podcast episode featuring Michael Every is linked here. Mike Bradley kicked off the show by noting that markets are in a “Calm Before the Storm” mode with investors awaiting the impact of Trump's April 2nd reciprocal tariffs. Rather than focusing on how markets might react post-reciprocal tariffs, Mike reviewed how markets performed in Q1'25 with the “Trumpatility” overhang. In bonds, the 10yr fell in Q1 by ~35bps to ~4.20%. WTI price ($71.50/bbl) ended Q1 relatively unchanged, which was a big surprise given the bearish oil sentiment that had built throu

The ships of Star Wars could easily be some of the most famous icons in the franchise. The first scene ever in "A New Hope" is the Star Destroyer. Then there are the other iconic ships we know and love: the X-Wing, the TIE Fighter, the various Star Fighters, the Millennium Falcon, the Ghost...do we even need to continue? The SHIPS are the stars of Star Wars, and this week we honor just a few of the hundreds that have made their place in our hearts. We plan to do more of these types of episodes in the future, so be sure to answer our question towards the end of the episode! In this episode of Challenge Accepted, Thomas and Frank take on The Empire Strikes Back, widely considered the greatest Star Wars film ever made. They discuss the film's lasting impact, John Williams' legendary score, and the way it expanded the lore of the Force. They also break down iconic moments, including the Hoth battle, Han and Leia's relationship, and that legendary twist. Plus, they explore the film's bold choice of ending on a downbeat note, setting the stage for Return of the Jedi. Join the conversation as they geek out over one of cinema's most defining sequels! Timestamps: 00:00 Introduction to The Empire Strikes Back discussion 00:27 Childhood memories of watching Star Wars 01:36 Why Empire still holds up today 02:06 The Battle of Hoth – one of the greatest sci-fi battles 03:22 Luke's journey to Dagobah and training with Yoda 03:43 Han, Leia, and the Millennium Falcon escape into an asteroid field 04:22 The introduction of Lando Calrissian 04:47 Boba Fett's first major appearance 05:21 Han Solo's fate – the carbonite freezing scene 06:10 The epic duel: Luke vs. Vader 06:37 I am your father – The biggest twist in Star Wars history 07:20 The dark and uncertain ending of the film 08:10 Why Empire is considered the best Star Wars film 09:38 Fun facts and behind-the-scenes trivia 10:50 Next week's challenge: Christopher Reeve's Superman Key Takeaways: The Empire Strikes Back took a bold narrative risk by allowing the villains to win, setting up an emotional and engaging third act in Return of the Jedi. The film introduced deeper concepts of the Force, expanding the mythology of the Star Wars universe. John Williams' score played a crucial role in the film's storytelling, with the introduction of The Imperial March becoming an iconic piece of music. Luke's training on Dagobah emphasized the spiritual and philosophical aspects of the Force, making Yoda one of the franchise's most beloved characters. Han and Leia's dynamic flourished in this film, leading to one of cinema's most legendary love lines: Leia: "I love you." Han: "I know." The duel between Luke and Vader is one of the most emotionally charged and well-executed fight scenes in film history. The film's ending left audiences stunned, proving that not all sequels need a happy ending to be effective. Memorable Quotes: “Darth Vader standing in that pastel Cloud City room is like a black hole pulling in all the light—it's just cold as hell.” – Frank “Luke's reaction to the ‘I am your father' reveal is so raw—it's not cool, it's real, and that's why it works.” – Thomas “We saw Yoda as this tiny, odd creature, but his wisdom and philosophy on the Force changed how we saw Jedi forever.” – Frank “The Empire winning in this movie was unheard of—it left audiences stunned and eager for more.” – Thomas Call to Action: Love The Empire Strikes Back? Chapter 18 of Star Wars: Dark Force Rising (1992) (EU: 9 ABY) by Timothy Zahn. The Story So FarDuring the war, debris from a space battle over Honoghr fell to the planet's surface, causing runaway ecological disasters. Darth Vader came to the Noghri people offering aid, gaining their trust and servitude. During the height of the Galactic Civil War, he passed off their service to Grand Admiral Thrawn, who now uses them to hunt for Leia Organa Solo. Now in the War's twilight, tensions between the Empire and New Republic grow as warships become in short supply. Several factions have claimed to rediscover the Katana Fleet. Han Solo and Lando Calrissian have met with a rogue Corellian group lead by Garm Bel Iblis. They are in possession of six of the Katana dreadnaughts, and Sena gives divulges the contact that supplied their group with their six Katana dreadnaughts. Han and Lando are following that lead to Pantolomin. Ferrier was captured by the Imperials and charged with finding the Corellian's dreadnaughts, later updated to pursue Han and Lando directly.A month earlier on Kashyyyk, Leia's pedigree was discovered by Khabarakh, and they arrange for Leia to undertake a solo embassy with his people on his homeworld. Leia leaves the Millennium Falcon in orbit around Endor to receive passage to Honoghr. While Leia remains hidden, Khabarakh's return is met with suspicion. Wookiee hair is found all through his ship, so he is placed under arrest. With the discovery of the Falcon over Endor, Thrawn leaves Honoghr to investigate.Chapter 18Looking over the Honoghr grasslands, Chewbacca gives his estimate that it has been eight years since the ecologically disastrous starship crash; the height of the Galactic Civil War. The recovery of Honoghr's arable land seems to always stay outpaced by Noghri population recovery. With the Grand Admiral's sudden vacation from Honoghr, Leia and Chewbacca plan to abscond. The complication remains that with Khabarakh held for public humiliation, a blade hangs over the heads of Clan Khim'bar and the Noghri people. Leia is scarred by guilt for the destruction of Alderaan and declares that she shall not let her actions come to harm the Noghri people. The Maitrakh's growing coldness thaws, and she agrees to accompany Leia in her escape to assist in liberating Khabarakh. Leia knows that should they fail, she alone would be captured alive.During their return to New Cov, Han and Lando make contact with Winter. She passes on an unencrypted message signed as “Luke” to meet planet-sdie on New Cov. The message, however, was left by Niles Ferrier. They barely disembark before they enter into a tense negotiation with the ship-thief; Ferrier offers to pool resources and intel to find The Dark Force, and he accidentally lets slip the name of the Imperial Grand Admiral. Lando believes Ferrier to be suspect and cuts the meeting. As they leave, Lando is proven right, finding a tracking device secured to their hull. On the ground, Ferrier confirms with his Wraith companion that a second beacon was placed somewhere it would not be found.Links, Share, and SupportDocumentation for this chapterCross platform link for this chapterDiscuss this chapter on Discord or YouTubeSupport us on PatreonOur WebsiteSupport the show
Howdy, spacefarers! Apologies for the delay in posting—September got away from me. My goal is to publish at least once a month, but life had other plans. Luckily, I convinced the wonderful Sydney to join me and share her thoughts on the latest addition to the Star Wars Disneyverse! It's been a while since The Acolyte aired its last episode. By now, you probably know the show was canceled. If I had recorded this earlier, that news might have been a surprise. However, given the backlash, it's not shocking. At the time of writing, the show holds a 4.1 on IMDb, and the fan and critic ratings on Metacritic are split—3.2 from fans and 67 from critics. Despite the negative press, I urge you to watch The Acolyte and form your own opinion. If you don't like it, let me know why! That's more than my co-host, AJ, who hasn't even watched the show but still decided it sucked. What's he basing that on? Probably all the controversy surrounding the creator and the show's lukewarm reception. At least give it a chance and see for yourself rather than relying on hearsay. Rewatching the first episode, I noticed a lot of foreshadowing I missed the first time around. For example, Mae's black eyes really creeped me out during the second watch. Also, it's fascinating to see how the creators attempted to expand the Star Wars universe just 100 years before The Phantom Menace. Unfortunately, many elements feel familiar, such as the Neimoidians on the cargo ship where Osha, our protagonist, works as a mechanic. Of course, more CGI shots of Coruscant were included—because what Star Wars property would be complete without it? As much as I understand that Coruscant is central to the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Temple, I wish Disney didn't stick to their 80/20 formula for Star Wars. It means we're seeing a lot of the same things to keep fans happy. This “safe” approach has been a critique since The Force Awakens—where a young, poor individual from a desert planet embarks on a journey, hops on the Millennium Falcon, meets Han Solo and Chewbacca, and destroys a giant space station. We've seen this before! While there are new characters, there's still so much unexplored in the Star Wars universe, including planets and biomes that deserve screen time. Sigh... I guess we should be thankful we're still getting new Star Wars movies, shows, and content. You don't always get what you love, but sometimes, you've got to love what you get. It's a question that rivals the meaning of life itself: which is better, Star Trek or Star Wars? Of course, they are very different, and that's really the core of it--one is a sweeping fantasy adventure incorporating the "Hero's Journey," while the other is a science fantasy wrapped around a morality play. In the end, we love them both. But there is a bit of cultural (and perhaps generation) divide here, and someone has to put Tariq in his place. Join us for this civilization-shattering conversation! Headlines: NASA's Voyager 2 spacecraft, now 12.8 billion miles from Earth, had to shut down its plasma science instrument due to power constraints. The instrument was the last of its kind still functioning on either Voyager spacecraft. United Launch Alliance (ULA) successfully launched its second Vulcan Centaur rocket, despite an apparent nozzle failure on one of the solid rocket boosters. The rocket carried a mass simulator in place of the delayed Dream Chaser spaceplane. The Sun unleashed an X9.05 solar flare, the strongest directed at Earth since 2017. The resulting coronal mass ejection (CME) could potentially trigger intense auroras visible at lower latitudes this weekend. Main Topic - Star Trek vs. Star Wars: Rod and Tariq share their personal experiences with both franchises, discussing their first encounters with Star Trek and Star Wars and how the franchises have evolved. They compare the intellectual aspects of both universes, with Star Trek often focusing on morality plays and Star Wars being more of a fun, fantasy-driven space opera. The hosts discuss the acting in both franchises, highlighting standout performances and the impact of certain characters and actors. They examine the iconic spaceships from each universe, noting that Star Trek ships like the Enterprise are more recognizable and have had a more significant cultural impact compared to Star Wars ships, with the exception of the Millennium Falcon. Rod and Tariq argue that Star Wars has had a more significant impact on popular culture, while Star Trek has been more influential in inspiring real-life space exploration and scientific careers. They conclude that both franchises have their merits and have played essential roles in getting people excited about space and science fiction. Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
Creature performer & actor Dee Tails (Rogue One, Solo, The Force Awakens) joins us to talk about his role as Senator Chuwant and shooting the finale for THE ACOLYTE! He upheld a J.J. Abrams tradition when playing this character - do you know what it is? You can meet Dee at our Classic Marvel Star Wars Comics panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and he will also be signing on July 29 during the Virtual Cantina tour at Scum & Villainy in Hollywood. We planned on having Dee on the same show as our ACOLYTE breakdown with Mike Celestino (Laughing Place / Who's The Bossk) but there was so much to each part that we separated them and our full breakdown will come out in just a few days. Stay tuned! Today in Star Wars History - 7/21/1978 Due to its overwhelming popularity, the theatrical run for Star Wars extends another seven weeks. Although some may call this a re-release, however it was never pulled from theaters. Fun Facts: A new poster is created for this extended release featuring artwork by Charlie White III and Drew Struzan. A monaural audio mix with extra lines of dialogue and sound effects was included in these additional prints. Extra dialogue includes C-3PO's line about cutting the Death Star's tractor beam to allow the Millennium Falcon to leave, and the Stormtrooper shouting to “Close the blast doors,” while chasing Han Solo and Chewbacca through the Death Star corridors. Before this we only heard “Open the blast doors!” The number of film prints totals 1,756 for this release which is an industry record. 300 more prints is added the next week which is the first time a film played in more than 2,000 theaters. Because of a clause in their contract, the only theater to continue playing Star Wars following the seven week extension is the Westgate Theater outside of Portland, Oregon. Following the 76 week run, Star Wars continues there until 11/07/1978. SPONSORS Small World Vacations is an official sponsor of Skywalking Through Neverland.
