I often hear people say that the reason they've started coming to our Sunday services is because they want their kids to "grow up in church.” While I appreciate the idea, I often want to say something along the lines of, "I also think our Sunday gatherings are great, but what our kids actually need is to grow up around parents who are completely surrendered to Jesus.” I may not know a lot, but I do know this: you can't pass on what you don't personally possess. In other words, if we want to have something to give to the next generation, we must first acquire it for ourselves. This week, we will unpack what the Scriptures say is the precious possession and how to pass it down to those who follow us! The “experts” say that we are about to experience the greatest transfer of wealth from one generation to the next that world has ever seen. In fact here's exactly what they say; “Gen X and Millennials are set to inherit a staggering $124 trillion in assets over the next 23 years in what many call America's Great Wealth Transfer.” Although I am or not at all sure you or I will see any of that, I am certain of this, $124 trillion is nothing compared to the transfer made on our behalf over 2,000 years ago! The real question though is this, will we be faithful to ensure that the message of the Gospel gets transferred to the next generation, or will it die with us? Even in chains, facing trial and uncertainty, the Apostle Paul found a joy that couldn't be taken away. Philippians is often called “The Epistle of Joy” — not just because Paul mentions joy 16 times, but because his own life exemplifies how true joy is rooted in God's unchanging presence and grace.  Paul's message is clear: no adversity, no hardship, no external circumstance can steal the joy we find in Christ. “Membership has its privileges!” i remember hearing these credit card ads as a kid and thinking, “I wanna be a privileged member!” I mean seriously, who wouldn't want special access to exclusive privileges? A few weeks ago, I was at an airport and realized that my Amex card gained access to the airport lounge that I had previously thought only Elon Musk got to use. Not only did I also have the authority to enter the world of the rich and famous, but I even had THE authority to bring a friend! Membership has its privileges! If you find that appealing, wait until you hear where we're headed this Sunday, because membership in the family of God also comes with privileges that you may have been previously unaware of. ECHO Global Missions Conference may be over, but the mission continues.  Our missionaries have moved on to their next assignments, and now we're left with a question that lingers: What's my Holy Discontent? When we recognize that "The Lord isn't really being slow about His promise... He is patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent." (2 Peter 3:9) We can't help but respond with Holy Discontent. God's patience is purposeful. It's a divine pause giving us time to join Him in His mission of redemption. So, what does that look like for us? Maybe it means taking a prayer card, or a few, and committing to pray faithfully for our missionaries. Maybe it's setting up your recurring giving to follow through on the monthly pledge you made during ECHO. Or maybe God is stirring something deeply personal, a new step of faith in your home, your community, your nation, or even to the nations.  Whatever it is, let's move together from inspiration to action. Let's gather in expectation believing that the same Spirit that moved at ECHO will continue to ignite hearts and galvanize the church into action. Because His patience isn't hesitation, it's invitation. What if you knew exactly what God wanted? Would it change anything about how you spent your days and nights? Would you reorient your life around it? Would you have desire to see God to get what He desires? According to second Peter chapter three verse nine, God wants everyone to repent and be saved and He wants no one to be destroyed. To be entirely honest it is somewhat embarrassing to ask how much of my own life is oriented around that same desire.  How much of my own time, talent and treasure have I leveraged to reach “One More” for Christ? "That's to die for!" This is a phrase we use to reference all kinds of things we actually would never consider laying down our lives for. This week we're diving into the disciplines of being an intentional disciple-maker. Just like Paul discipled Timothy, he connected with him both personally and culturally, using the examples of a soldier, an athlete, and a farmer. We are called to disciple others, no matter their background or past mistakes, because of the promise of victory, the vision of winning, and the hope of a harvest. Disciple-making is always worthwhile when our goal is to glorify God, win people to Christ, and one day live eternally with Him. Remember: no past experience is beyond redemption. The church grows when YOU share your story!

Discipleship isn't just about learning-it's about living. Jesus invites us to a life of surrender, sacrifice, and steadfast following. To make disciples, we must first be disciples, and how do we do that? By following the template Jesus laid out in Matthew 16:24. This week we will unpack the not so secret sauce to making disciples! This may come as a surprise to you, but…churches don't always “get it right”! Often we try things that don't produce the results we were hoping for. Sometimes we try things and discover that they produced the opposite of what we were hoping for. BUT, if THE Church could get this one thing right she would change the world and usher in the return of Christ faster than any of us could imagine…Intentional Disciple-Making. If the individuals sitting in our individual churches understood, felt empowered, and said YES to the personal mission to “go and make disciples” we would be an unstoppable force for transformation on the earth.
