Josh O’Connor is having a bit of a moment. He’s been in four movies this year. On December 12, two of them became available to watch at home, including the biggest movie of his career so far, the new Knives Out mystery, Wake Up Dead Man. On December 13, O’Connor hosted Saturday Night Live. On December 16, the first trailer dropped for the soon-to-be biggest movie of his career so far, Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day. Not too bad. So The Nose is looking at the other new Josh O’Connor movie from last week: The Mastermind, written, directed, and edited by Kelly Reichardt. It’s a slow-cinema kind of heist movie set in 1970 and also starring Alana Haim, Hope Davis, John Magaro, Gaby Hoffman, and Bill Camp. And: Sorry, Baby is a black comedy-drama written by, directed by, and starring Eva Victor. According to A24’s logline, “Something bad happened to Agnes. But life goes on … for everyone around her, at least.” Eva Victor, who plays Agnes, is nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Drama. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery - MOVIE REVIEW | Netflix

Rian Johnson & Daniel Craig have returned to deliver us their third Knives Out Mystery. Wake Up Dead Man has now dropped in select theaters worldwide, and will drop on Netflix on December 12. I'm very lucky to be ten minutes away from a local cinema that plays all of Netflix's releases before they drop on the platform, so you bet I rushed out to see the new whodunnit on the first day of release. The first Knives Out is easily my favorite murder-mystery of all-time, and Glass Onion was definitely a really solid follow-up even if it was a little uneven. More importantly though, I think Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, has to be on the Mount Rushmore of most iconic new movie characters of the past decade; in fact, I think Craig is so good in the role that Blanc is now dangerously close to overtaking Bond as his most iconic character. I know, I know... sue me. Rian Johnson is also one of my favorite filmmakers and he never misses! So, is Wake Up Dead Man the most engrossing mystery the team have delivered yet? Find out in this review!Wake Up Dead Man:Written and Directed by: Rian JohnsonProduced by: Ram Bergman, Rian JohnsonExecutive Producer: Tom KarnowskiMusic by: Nathan JohnsonDirector of Photography: Steve YedlinEdited by: Bob DucsayCasting by: Bret Howe, Mary VernieuProduction Design by: Rick HeinrichsCostume Design by: Jenny EaganCast: Daniel Craig, Josh O'Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, Thomas Haden ChurchSynopsis: When young priest Jud Duplenticy is sent to assist charismatic firebrand Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, it's clear that all is not well in the pews. After a sudden and seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, the lack of an obvious suspect prompts local police chief Geraldine Scott to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a mystery that defies all logic.

Faithspotting co-hosts Mike and Kenny are joined by writer / director Max Walker-Silverman to discuss his newest film Rebuilding, which stars Josh O'connor, Lily LaTorre, Meghann Fahy, Kali Reis, and Amy Madigan. Set in Max's home state of Colorado, Rebuilding is a moving story of a family and community coming together in the aftermath of a wildfire that destroyed their homes and scorched their land and lives. Max drew upon his experience of losing a family home and acerage to a fire when he was growing up. Rebuilding is distributed by Bleeker Street. Following Kenny and MIke's discussion of the film and faith they spotted, there is an interview with Max Walker-Silverman. In addition, Mike's co-teacher Michael Logan and one of their students, Trip Breslin join in the interview. Faith Topics: Hope in Rebuilding: Hope is grounded in faith in the possibility of new life and community plays an important role in rebuilding. Community can be family, friends, neighbors as well as strangers.  Rebuilding New Not Same Lives. Though the temptation is to seek to rebuild life just as it was before, new life will be different, and even if it seems less, it can often be a more fulfilling life. Faith is change, and the Paradox of Home.  Individuals, families, and communities often seek out "home"because it is known, comfortable, and predictable, yet home is typically changing or under threat of change. Part of faith is growth and accepting and embracing change. Seeking to avoid change and growth is based in fear and the opposite of faith.  Non-Anxious lives. Faith fosters a life that is non-anxious in the midst of change and even struggle. While everyone experiences anxiety in life and seasons of struggle and loss, faith, including the support of community, is an instrument in releasing anxiety. Resurrection follows Good Friday. As witnessed in the Gospels, Jesus had to experience the suffering of Good Friday and the tomb before the resurrection. Most people will also experience suffering prior to the new life of resurrection. People of the Christian faith are Easter people prior to their death and passage from life unto life.

This Week on the Show: Josh O'Connor, Kelly Reichardt & the Art of the Heist Fresh off the headlines of a real-life Louvre robbery, indie auteur Kelly Reichardt and breakout star Josh O'Connor join Simon to talk about their buzzy new film, The Mastermind—a stylish 70s-set art-heist drama that's suddenly feeling very timely. O'Connor plays JB, a slacker dad whose low-stakes gallery theft spirals into something far more chaotic. Expect Nixon-era nostalgia, vintage fashion deep-dives, and awkward ovation etiquette. Plus, Josh spills on his upcoming Spielberg project—yes, that Spielberg. Mark Reviews: The Mastermind – Does Reichardt's latest live up to the hype? Regretting You – A romantic drama with a title tailor-made for snark. Mark's rant radar is fully activated. Sketch – A family film where kids' drawings come to life. But does the magic hold up? Pattie was a strong woman through and through. She learned everything she knew about raising and caring for animals and growing crops from her parents  and the land she grew up on.  Because of her experience on the farm plus her ability to drive and operate farm machinery, etc, she was available to help out her country during WWII. This enabled her to be active during the Land Army, in New Zealand. Josh shares how she had a wonderful sense of humor (Irish family roots), taught Josh how to sew, cook, play cards, knit and so much more. Josh willingly admits that he was a mama's boy and as he says he "hung onto her apron strings."As Josh was getting ready to move away from home for a new job, he was desperate to share a very personal story with his mother. She'd already survived breast cancer shortly after her was born, but now the cancer was back. She refused chemo and radiation, so Josh was afraid this might me the last time he'd see his mother. Just as he was about to go out the door, he spoke to his mother and revealed what he'd been hiding inside for decades.  She was un perplexed and finished his statement before he had a chance to share what he wanted to say.  That was just a little bit of the magic of Pattie. She regularly took care of her neighbors. Whether because of an illness or just in need of company, she was always there to help other. Pattie was also very curious, especially regarding her friends and neighbors in this rural farming area. The duo star in the new film History of Sound where their musical abilities are put to the test. “I'm always jealous of musicians,' says Mescal. “I'm jealous of the fact that they don't need permission to work. O'Connor reveals his ‘hippie' hobbies including ceramics, bee keeping and gardening. Mescal and O'Connor also reveal the lessons they've learned on how to master the red carpet. “It can feel quite exposing being yourself in a weird way,” shares O'Connor.
