What happens when a nation forgets its spiritual foundations? The American Soul Podcast tackles this question head-on, examining how modern interpretations of "separation of church and state" have strayed dramatically from our founders' intentions.Through a powerful reading of Revelation 6, Jesse Cope reminds listeners that "there's going to come a point when all the second chances are over," urging spiritual preparedness while there's still time. This urgency underscores the episode's exploration of America's Christian heritage and how it's been systematically erased from public consciousness.Drawing from historical sources including Supreme Court opinions and founding-era commentaries, Cope demonstrates that the phrase "separation of church and state" appears nowhere in our founding documents. Instead, it was a concept meant to prevent any single denomination from controlling government—not to remove Christianity from public life. Joseph Story's commentary reveals the founders believed "Christianity ought to receive encouragement from the state" and that attempting to "level all religions" would have provoked "universal indignation."The discussion deepens when examining education, where Fisher Ames—the very author of the First Amendment's Establishment Clause—advocated for the Bible as "the primary text in our schools." This historical reality stands in stark contrast to modern interpretations that have stripped both biblical teaching and proper civic education from American schools.Between readings from Foxes Book of Martyrs and Medal of Honor citations, Cope weaves a compelling narrative about sacrifice, courage, and the consequences of abandoning our nation's foundational principles. The episode concludes with a sobering reflection on how America cannot continue to violate God's moral law—particularly through abortion—without facing consequences.Whether you're a history buff, a person of faith, or simply concerned about America's future, this episode offers historical context often missing from contemporary discussions. In this lesson from the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast, we are studying Rev. 6 verses 12 thru 17. Thank you for being here with us.Here we find Jesus opening the 6th of 7 seals on the scroll. The opening of this seal effects the heavens. The sun is effected. The moon is effected. The stars are effected. Even heaven itself is rolled up like a scroll. Then on the earth, the mountains and islands are violently shaken out of their places. Such violent upheavals causes people on earth to run and hide among the rocks and the caves knowing that these things were caused by the wrath of God and the wrath of the Lamb.Dr. Mitchell speaks of how Christ in His glory is revealed in this judgment. Jesus Christ is seen in the display of His Deity as the Son of Man to whom all authority for judgment has been given by His Father. Here is Dr. Mitchell, Revelation 6:12-17.

Here on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast Dr. John G. Mitchell expounds Revelation chapter 6 verses 7 thru 11.The Apostle John writes concerning the 4th and 5th seals which the Lord opened in heaven. The events of these seals will take place on earth, but they are revealed to John in heaven. Dr. Mitchell will speak of the fourth seal. Here death and hades kills 1/4 of the world's population. At the time Dr. Mitchell spoke, the world population was around 4 billion. As of now, it is over 7.5 billion. When the Lord opens the 5th seal, a different sight appears. Here are the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the Word of God and the witness they had maintained. They were alive in heaven and speaking to the Lord crying out for Him to avenge their death upon the earth dwellers. Let's turn to Rev.6:7 with Dr. Mitchell.
Pastor Ken continues teaching through the book of Revelation.

In Revelation 6, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride onto the world stage. Their arrival signals the beginning of the Great Tribulation, a 7-year period of global turmoil and divine judgment before Christ's Second Coming. This period is marked by global warfare, widespread famine, economic collapse, and the rise of a powerful, Satanic leader called the Antichrist. Can you hear their hoofbeats getting closer?

Revelation 6:1-17 6:1 Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked, and behold, a white horse, and the one who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. 3 When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come!” 4 And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that people would kill one another; and a large sword was given to him. 5 When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come!” I looked, and behold, a black horse, and the one who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine.” 7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come!” 8 I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and the one who sat on it had the name Death, and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, and famine, and plague, and by the wild animals of the earth. 9 When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been killed because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; 10 and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who live on the earth?” 11 And a white robe was given to each of them; and they were told that they were to rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brothers and sisters who were to be killed even as they had been, was completed also. 12 And I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became as black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. 14 The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. 15 Then the kings of the earth and the eminent people, and the commanders and the wealthy and the strong, and every slave and free person hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; 16 and they *said to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the sight of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; 17 for the great day of Their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” BIBLE READING GUIDE - FREE EBOOK - Get the free eBook, Bible in Life, to help you learn how to read and apply the Bible well: https://www.listenerscommentary.com GIVE - The Listener's Commentary is a listener supported Bible teaching ministry made possible by the generosity of people like you. We look at the first six seals.
1. God is gracious even in judgement. (v.1-8)2. We should long for God's Judgement. (v. 9-11)3. God's final judgement is more terrible than we could possibly imagine. (v.12-17)
God has a contract with the world to judge it, and he also has an escape clause. In this sermon, we cover the rest of the seal judgments of the Book of Revelation.
Steve Wiggins of GroundworksMinistries.com is sharing a devotional from the New Testament book of Revelation, Chapter Six.
Revelation 6:1-17
In this sermon, we delve into the complex and often unsettling imagery of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from the book of Revelation. Through examining each horseman—representing false saviors, war, famine, and death—we explore the themes of justice, suffering, and the persistence of evil in the world. The sermon aims to help followers of Jesus understand these figures as embodiments of spiritual and systemic evils and to encourage trust in God's ultimate wisdom and justice, even when it remains hidden. The message underscores the belief that despite the trials faced in this world, God's overarching plan is for ultimate good and redemption.
