ECHO Global Missions Conference may be over, but the mission continues.  Our missionaries have moved on to their next assignments, and now we're left with a question that lingers: What's my Holy Discontent? When we recognize that "The Lord isn't really being slow about His promise... He is patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed but wants everyone to repent." (2 Peter 3:9) We can't help but respond with Holy Discontent. God's patience is purposeful. It's a divine pause giving us time to join Him in His mission of redemption. So, what does that look like for us? Maybe it means taking a prayer card, or a few, and committing to pray faithfully for our missionaries. Maybe it's setting up your recurring giving to follow through on the monthly pledge you made during ECHO. Or maybe God is stirring something deeply personal, a new step of faith in your home, your community, your nation, or even to the nations.  Whatever it is, let's move together from inspiration to action. Let's gather in expectation believing that the same Spirit that moved at ECHO will continue to ignite hearts and galvanize the church into action. Because His patience isn't hesitation, it's invitation. Mayor of Kotzebue reports that areas in outlying part of town continue to be either underwater or have standing water as a strom continues to batter Western Alaska. A Wasilla man pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to distributing a deadly synthetic opioid that caused one near-fatal overdose and the death of a 16-year-old girl whose body was found on a Wasilla trail last year. One year after Palmer paid $75,000 to remove their controversial city manager, officials now tell Alaska’s News Source they’ve made no policy changes to prevent a similar situation.

Ed and Lorraine Warren are back in the spotlight once again as we welcome yet another installment in The Conjuring film franchise, Last Rites, which hit theaters earlier this month on September 5th. Christian takes this opportunity to put together an episode detailing the true story behind the new film, which is based on the real-life Smurl family haunting. The Smurls, a family in Pennsylvania, reported experiencing paranormal activity and demonic infestation in their home for over a decade. On today's Morning Edition, an Anchorage woman missing for two years is now believed to have been murdered after remains were found in Wasilla, police say. Later, details from last night's Anchorage Assembly meeting and what was proposed to help combat the city's housing crisis.

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is asking the federal government to cut off the entirety of its federal debt after failing to create a ferry connecting the borough to Anchorage. Human remains discovered earlier this month in Wasilla have been identified as those of 18-year-old Ataja Banks, an Anchorage woman who went missing in November 2023, Alaska State Troopers say. Akiak has been without power since an outage around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, according to those living there.

A friend was just telling me about having several family members visiting here in AK for the summer. He purchased one of those enormous water floats designed for tons of people so they could enjoy it during their stay. Towards the end of summer, the float developed a small leak but made it through their visit. Even though they had used it all summer long, the store they bought it from had a return policy stating they could still bring the float back if it was faulty, so they did. In telling me all of this, his demeanor and tone suggested feelings of guilt even though the store's return policy clearly stated they basically expected him to return the product.  This week, we are getting into God's "return policy", learning to live in His grace, His freedoms, and why we don't need to go back to living like we did before His adoption of us that Pastor Jonathan spoke about last week. Mélissa-Sue Methven was born in Quebec City and raised in Vancouver, BC. In her early 20s, she became a flight attendant, flying globally on commercial and private jets, including trips with celebrities and a U.S. president. In 2006, she moved to Wasilla, Alaska, to be with her husband, Scott, and later became a dental hygienist. After Scott's passing in 2022, Mélissa, now a widowed mother of two, has devoted her life to helping others navigate grief, reclaim their voice, and live with purpose. Her work is rooted in healing, truth-telling, and empowering others to rise from their deepest pain.
