China has rescued more than 40 Vietnamese nationals after their vessel sank in the South China Sea, while search operations continue for the remaining missing crew members.

The Andrea Doria sank just south of Nantucket on July 26, 1956. While 51 people were killed in the collision, more than 1,600 were saved in one of the largest maritime rescue operations in history.
