āIn this episode of Back on the Broomstick, Laylla and Chelle are joined by astrologer Laurie Farrington to discuss her latest book, How to Read and Interpret a Birth Chart: Guideposts for Understanding Natal Astrology.Ā Laurie brings decades of experience interpreting the stars through a deeply intuitive and grounded lens, and this book reflects her commitment to helping others align with their soul path through astrology.During their conversation, Chelle confesses her long-standing fear of astrology (mostly due to the math) and Laylla drops an astrology secret of her own. Together, they dig into what sun, moon, and rising signs really say about us, why Laylla thinks astrology charts are basically a celestial Tarot spread, and whether Mercury retrograde is truly something to fear or just misunderstood cosmic drama. Whether you're fluent in your birth chart or still wondering what a rising sign actually does, this episode offers an open-hearted, witchy look at the skies above and the wisdom they hold.Laurie's WebsiteLaurie's SubstackGot a question? ATLP Rewind - Episode orginally released June 11, 2024It's been way too long since we've heard from John Farrington and there was quite a bit to catch up on. Since the last time we talked, John has not only gone bigger with his layout, he's also gone freelance with a great railroad name and an awesome logo thanks to a very talented graphic artist that's a familiar name here on the podcast. John also talks about doing custom work for others, including myself, and debunks the old Mark Twain saying "good fences make good neighbors" when it comes to getting guidance and support with his model railroad.Ā Learn more about this episode on our website:aroundthelayout.com/rewindThank you to our episode sponsor, Highball Graphics:https://highballgraphics.com/Thank you to our episode sponsor, Oak Hill Model Railroad Track Supply:https://ohrtracksupply.com/
What is capital, really? And what happens when Bitcoin forces a repricing of everything we think we know about it? In this reboot episode we're bringing back Capital in the 21st Century by Allen Farrington. A piece that explores the deep connection between money and capital - two concepts often conflated but fundamentally distinct. Farrington dismantles the illusion that money itself is wealth, arguing instead that it is merely a claim on wealth, a liquid mechanism for valuing the things we truly desire. He examines how Bitcoin reshapes our understanding of capital, entrepreneurship, and economic potential energy, weaving in insights from Austrian economics and beyond. It's very easy to lose sight of what bitcoin is set to fix, and this read really gets to the core of that question. So I'm glad to be revisiting this one, and sharing some more of my recent thoughts around the ideas AllenĀ Farrington brings to the table. Listen to Episode 75: Malnutrition and Feeding Tube Selection first. Ā This episode walks through the decision-making for which enteral formula to select based on the patient's age, protein needs, and GI function. A list of commercially available examples is listed for each age group and protein type. Fluid and caloric goals are discussed to determine if concentrated formulas are appropriate. Lastly, the process of starting continuous feeds and advancing to bolus feeds while assessing for tolerance is reviewed. Build functional skills by following along with a case study that is continued from the prior episode. It's proof that there's more than just formula that goes into tube feedings. In the push for competency-based education where faculty verify the skills of what a student can do, rather than their knowledge, our series focuses on the application of didactic content with a practical approach so that you can learn nuances of clinical skills before you reach the bedside.Ā Ā This episode begins with a brief review of malnutrition and pediatric nutritional assessment in acute care settings. Next we begin a choose-your-own-nutrition adventure by asking a series of questions that aid in medical decision-making for which nutrition route is appropriate, and, if enteral feeding is best, then determines the type of tube indicated.
