This morning we conclude our series "Life in Transition" and discuss how investing in the next generation is a great way to prepare for transitions in life. This is also the last message from Pastor Jason as he and his family are transitioning into a new season of ministry.
Sometimes you know what’s coming next—graduation, wedding, new baby, new job, retirement. But there’s no correlation between knowing what’s next and being prepared for what’s next. So, how do you prepare for the next season when you can't see what’s coming?
We’re all headed somewhere. We’re all moving toward a new season. And none of us has been where we’re going. Yet it’s up to us to figure out what we need to pack in our bags so that we’re prepared for that coming season. But how can you know what you’ll need when the coming season is a mystery? How can you know what you don’t know?
We’re all headed somewhere. Arriving at our new destinations requires change. For most of us, change creates stress. Just like when we travel on a boat, plane, or in a car, traveling through life can give us motion sickness. We’re knocked off balance. The ground beneath our feet doesn’t feel solid. So how do you prepare for what’s next when the anxiety of transition has you fighting motion sickness?
This morning we started a series on Life in Transition. You have probably heard it said that the only thing in life that is constant is change. But what do you do when one season ends and a new one begins? Life changes can be exciting and stressful because we do not know what comes next. So, how do you best navigate life’s biggest transitions? Join us for this 5-week series as we look at navigating change in your life. This week we talk about preparing for the future without knowing what the future actually will bring. Life is full of change. Transitions can be both exciting and stressful. That’s because we can’t see into the future. We can’t tell what comes next. But what if there was a way to prepare for the next season? What if you could do something now to influence where you end up then?
What is the importance of being a dad really mean? What does it look like and why does it matter? Take a listen as we talk about how walking with God is important not only to our fathers but to the health of the family as well!
Rev. James R.T. Boyce brings the Word this morning and reminds us how the Lord is similar to an umbrella. Is the Lord your umbrella?
This morning we honor and recognized our graduates. Pastor Charity presented a special message for our graduates which also was very relevant to us all!
Last week we talked about two kinds of unity: Unity in the Spirit and Unity in the Faith. We also talked about the importance of preserving and attaining unity. But what does that actually look like? Let's take a look at what the Scripture says and what we can do to apply the Word to our daily lives.
The church has a job/calling to do and it is overwhelming not only as a body but as individuals. We don’t do it by our own strength but by the strength of God. And one of the ways God gives us strength is through the unity He provides. This morning we are beginning a series on unity. This morning we will be talking about what unity is and what it looks like so we can preserve and attain it. (Sorry for the poor recording).
Today we look to a successful mother in the Bible and see how we can learn from what she did so we can make sure we are successful in raising our kids as well. Join us as we celebrate our ladies this morning and see what we can apply to our life from the Word!
Ever gotten angry or frustrated at God because of the situation you are in? So angry that you not only blamed Him for everything but refused to talk to Him and/or ask for help? Take a listen this morning as we talk about the Israelites and a man named Gideon. How were their situations the same? How did they respond? What were the results of their response? (Forgive us for the poor recording quality)
We had a wonderful opportunity to see our young people showcase what they did at Fine Arts this year. They all did a great job and we also were able to have Jordan Henshaw present his short sermon as well. We hope you enjoy!
When the devil can’t have our heart, he goes to his backup plan: destruction. He’ll try to break you down until you’re ready to cry out. But you can build something stronger than any of the devil’s attacks.
Have you ever been accused of being someone you’re not? It’s one of the devil’s go-to tricks. But you’re not who he says you are. You’re who God says you are.
He’s a liar—and he is really, really good at it. What lies has the devil tried to tell you? This weekend, we’ll take a good look at how the devil’s deceit tries to bring us down, and how we can stand strong against him.
As we conclude our series this morning, what a great way to celebrate Easter Sunday than to talk about what the cross and resurrection means for us!
As we celebrate Palm Sunday, we talk about how Jesus may have been feeling and what may have happened instead of Jesus dying on the cross.
This week we are taking a look at Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. What does this event teach us? How are we like the crowd? How are we not like the crowd?
We were able to have a missions team from Fairmont State Chi Alpha help us this week by cleaning, painting, stuffing Easter eggs, putting outreach bags together, and cleaning the grounds. They were a great group of men and women to be around and were very hard workers. The greatest observation we saw was their love for the Lord as they served others. This is the Wednesday evening service they did which included an introduction of what Chi Alpha is, testimonies of two students on the missions team, and a great message from their leader, Cait Tobin. Take a listen and enjoy!
This week we will be talking about something we all deal with: betrayal. How do we properly deal with being betrayed? How do we treat the other person(s) who betrayed us? Let's look at the example of Jesus when He was betrayed and how He handled it!
As we being our new series "The Road to Easter", we will be talking about events that happened during the last week of Jesus' life. This morning, we are talking about who we believe Jesus is and how our actions should line up with our words.
Every one of us will leave a legacy behind when we die. So the question is not "Will I leave a legacy?" But rather, "What kind of legacy will I leave?" In his letter to the new believers in Thessalonica, Paul reveals three characteristics that produce a long lasting spiritual legacy: faith, hope and love. When these are at the very core of who you are, you will display works by faith, labor by love, and endurance by hope in Christ. It is only when the legacy of Christ changes our character that we can begin to live and leave a lasting legacy.
We finish up our sermon series "Reset" with talking about resetting spiritually. What are some guidelines we can use when making sure we are in tune with God's voice? In rhythm with God's heart?
This morning we wrap up the relational part of our "Reset" sermon series and we had the wonderful opportunity to also witness six couples renew their wedding vows as well! This morning we talk about how we can love better; whether our spouse, kids, relatives, friends, etc.
This week we are continuing our relationship part of our "Reset" series and we are going to talk about relational parasites that can suck the life out of our relationships (marriage, dating, parent, sibling, friend, etc.). Let's take a look at how we can recognize what relational parasites are and how we can protect ourselves from them.
As we dive into the relational part of our "Reset" series, we are talking about how we can create relationships that last through the seasons of life whether they are good/bad, easy/challenging. This is a great message whether you are married, divorced, single, dating, young and old.
God had a special message planned for us this morning. Many times we go through times of doubt and worry. Times when we don't understand why things are going the way they are; especially if we are living the way we are supposed to live. How do we have peace in the midst of chaos and doubt?
As we continue with our "Reset" series, we will discuss the importance relationships have in our life, how God views relationships, and how we can reset existing and develop new relationships to properly reflect what the Bible teaches us.
Reset is defined as to set again or renew. During this series we will be talking about different areas of our life that need to be reset and how we can do a reset that will last and not be a temporary fix. This week we will be talking about doing a physical reset and about how to give our bodies as “living sacrifices” (Romans 12) to the Lord.
As we conclude our series, we are going to briefly talk about how to get past what other people say we are. Whether we were constantly told growing up that we were worthless, no good, a mistake, etc., we are going to talk about how to overcome those labels we have been given all our life and accept the label from our Creator!
As we continue our series, we will talk about a tough subject: shame. This morning we will be talking about the difference between "guilt" and "shame" and how shame can influence and shape our identity. How can we keep shame from defining who we are? Let's find out this week!
Have you noticed that Christmas is a time that really tends to magnify things. If there's something good Christmas season tends to magnify the good and makes things even better. At the same time Christmas can also magnify the difficult times. What might be a little painful during the year seems to be incredibly painful during Christmastime. This series is going to address three areas in our life we can work on in order to not have our past dictate or present and influence our future!
Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Do you have that feeling that there's more coming at you than you could possibly handle? Being overwhelmed is something we all deal with. But the holidays' demands can intensify our life and make everything even more overwhelming. How do we deal with being overwhelmed? Was Jesus ever overwhelmed? If so, maybe we can learn how to deal with being overwhelmed by following His example! Let's check it out!
This morning we will be tagging along with Saul, Barnabas and Mark as they leave Antioch and sail to the island of Cyprus. What do they encounter on this trip? How can we apply the lessons they learn to our daily life? Let's take a look as they begin on Paul's First Missionary Journey!
We had the honor to have Pastor Angela Donadio speak to us this morning about facing challenges. We all have faced, do face, and will face challenges in our life. How do we view these challenges? What is the point of facing these challenges? Let's take a listen!
Have you ever been told something and didn't understand the point of what was being discussed? Many times when we don't understand the point of something, we also miss the purpose as to why we are being told whatever is being discussed. This happens often when we read the parables of Jesus. If we don't know the point behind His parable, then we won't get the purpose/application to it either!
As we celebrate our pastor, we had the opportunity to hear one of his mentors, Pastor Bobby Basham, preach the Word this morning. We also were able to hear some stories of our pastor too! If you have ever wondered what it would be like to be in full-time ministry or a pastor/minister, then this message is for you!
Are you frustrated because no matter what you do or how hard you try, things never seem to get better? Are you about to give up? DON'T! If we want things to change, it takes work, obedience and patience. Today we are going to talk about how we can get our life on track and not allow our past to define our present.
Do you like being invited to special events or just to dinner? Almost everyone does! But how would it make you feel if you invited somebody and at the last minute they told you they weren't coming? What if the excuses given were ridiculous or there were not even excuses given at all? How would that make you feel? This week in our series, we will be discussing this exact scenario as Jesus tells it around the dinner table at a prominent Pharisee's home.
No matter what branch of the military you are familiar with, each one has their own code. It can be written or unwritten or both, but the purpose of the code is to make sure everyone acts and lives a certain way. We, as believers, also have a code. As we look in Luke 14, we will look at one aspect of this kingdom code that all believers do or should abide by. Let's check it out!
In our new series, we will be not only discussing some of the parables of Jesus but we will also see if they are relevant to us today and, if so, how we can apply them to our daily life.
As football season has begun, we are cheering for our favorite college and/or pro team; hoping they score more points than their opponents. In order for them to accomplish that goal, they need to be focused on the end zone and nothing else. We, as Christians, need to also be focused on the end zone which is eternity. How do we maintain focus? Where do we run? Who do we run to? Who do we run from? Join us this morning as we talk about something more important than football...eternity.
As we prepare to take time tomorrow to recognize Patriot Day, it is a good time to look in the Bible as to what a patriot looks like and how we can effectively live as a Christian patriot in our everyday life.
In light of the recent disaster from Hurricane Harvey, we will be asking and answering questions that we all deal with when tragedies occur. Did God do this? Did God allow this to happen? Why would He do it or allow it to happen? What can I do? And what little I can do, does it really make a difference?
Most stories start with "Once Upon A Time" or "One Day". There is a starting point to where we can trace back to when God began something new in our life. Many times, it also includes us being obedient to Him and a normal day becomes our "One Day." Maybe today is your "One Day!"
One of the best descriptions of the Church is "one strange herd." What does that actually mean? Is it a good thing to be part of this strange herd we call the Church? Let's see what Paul has to say about it this morning as we talk about "One Strange Herd."
We are all on a journey. The importance of being on a journey is not only knowing where you are going but also how you are going to get there. Where are you on your faith journey? Let's find out what it means to be on a journey of faith and to make sure we stay on track to get to our destination.
As the word of God changes us, we can in turn use it to change the world around us.
This week we talk about the helmet of salvation. Don't we already have the helmet of salvation on when we invite Jesus into our life? What does it mean to put it on and keep it on? We answer these questions and more this week in part 6 of our series "The Armor of God".
This week are talking about the fiery arrows the enemy throws at us. But when was the last time you were attack by a fiery arrow or a fiery dart? Not lately. So what do these fiery arrows mean for us in the 21st century? How can we not only recognize but successfully defend off the fiery arrows we are bombarded with in life? We answer all these questions this week in Part 5 of our "Armor of God" series.
