Worship is not something we think of as difficult. Yet there is a lot more to worship than meets the eye. The deeper meaning of worship shows up in the story of the wise men. These men did not simply worship the Lord from where they were. They got up and traveled to find the Lord and give him unique gifts. Likewise, if we want to truly worship the Lord, we have to seek Him out, and offer Him gifts of love, faith, usefulness.

How do you come to church? Most of us drive or get a lift, maybe you walk. When I lived in Brazil we used to get a lift to church on a trailer behind the tractor! I suppose it doesn't matter to much how you get to church, the important this is that we come, but what about our attitude is we come to church? What are you thinking on your way in? I hope we sing some nice hymns, I hope the preacher is interesting and doesn't go on too long! Maybe you're looking forward to catching up with each other. Maybe you don't think too much, you just come out of habit. Or maybe you come, desiring to get to know God better, maybe even to hear Him speak. In Ecclesiastes 5 the preacher moves from vanity to something weighty - worship. He warns us to be careful about our attitude as we come to worship. The Bible reading was Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 and the recording is below:

Paul gives specific instructions concerning men and women in public worship. Men are to make sure they approach God with lives that are not soiled by anger and quarrelling. Women are to approach God with modest and self-controlled appearance. In both cases, worship is to be offered from clean and committed hearts.

We focus on teaching the doctrine to older children, but littles and teens also enjoy playing along. Each week we follow the outline given in the 2023 Come Follow Me Manual made by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We are not officially affiliated with them in anyway, and direct you to the church's website for any doctrinal questions. We would love to have your children as guests on our podcast. If your children are interest in participating in a future week, please email us at comefollowmekidspodcast@gmail.com and we will send you an assignment. This week your children will learn: Jesus grew “in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” I can follow Jesus's example. We will also discuss the children's and youth goal setting program the church came out with.

Have you found Him? Consider someone who may not yet have heard this invitation, possibly a loved one who has grown tired in their seeking and does not feel they have found the Savior. How can you help them to go to Him in haste?— Quotes & Links: Link to FIND HIM New Testament Study Guide:https://www.seagullbook.com/find-him-new-testament-come-follow-me-guidebook.html Link to Come to Bethlehem and See by Ganel-Lyn Condie: https://www.seagullbook.com/come-to-bethlehem-and-see.html “Thus personally invited to undertake a search for the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger, did these shepherds concern themselves with the security of their possessions? Did they procrastinate in their search for Jesus? The record affirms that the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us now go even unto Bethlehem. . . . “‘And they came with haste.' (Luke 2:15–16; emphasis added).” (Thomas S. Monson, in Conference Report, October 1965, 141).“In my mind, the shepherds represent valued helpers of our communities, the workers who take care of us—first responders, police officers, nurses, gas station attendants, and so many others—who work and watch often when most of us are sleeping the night away. God is just as aware of modern-day workers as He was aware of the Bethlehem field workers of Jesus's time. God watches over those who may at times seem invisible to the rest of society.” (Come to Bethlehem and See by Ganel-Lyn Condie)“So don't delay. Go in haste toward Jesus in your pile of laundry and bills. Go in haste in your anxiety and addictions. Go in haste to Him no matter where you are in life.” (FIND HIM New Testament Study Guide by Ganel-Lyn Condie and John Fossum, p.6)“If our sorrow and suffering strengthen our faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, “[our] sorrow shall be turned to joy.” … The suffering in mortality will bring a greater appreciation of the blessings of a resurrected, perfect body. … Suffering to develop strength will not exceed our ability to endure to the end. … Trials give us the development of spirituality that we probably never would get if we didn't have the experience where the very jaws of hell gape open their mouth wide after us.” (1983–O:65, Robert D. Hales, Your Sorrow Shall Be Turned to Joy)—Talk of Him is presented by Seagull Book and hosted by Ganel-Lyn Condie and John Fossum.

Join us this week as we discuss Matthew 2 and Luke 2.  We discuss many things concerning his birth including the weight that Joseph must have felt and the temptation of a young Jesus to disobey his parents when they told him to leave with them.  Luke 2 Overview.Jesus is born in Bethlehem and is laid in a manger because there is no room for him in the inn.An angel appears to some shepherds who are tending to their flocks, and tells them about the birth of Jesus. The shepherds go to see Jesus and spread the news about him.Jesus is circumcised and given the name Jesus, as the angel had instructed Mary and Joseph to do.When Jesus is eight days old, he is taken to the temple in Jerusalem to be dedicated to God. There, Simeon, a devout man, takes Jesus in his arms and praises God, saying that he has seen the salvation of the Lord.A prophetess named Anna also sees Jesus at the temple and begins to speak about him to all who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem. The thoughts, ideas, and beliefs we express on this channel do not officially represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  For additional information or official statements, please visit the website below.Come Follow Me Overview:From the day of His birth, it was clear that Jesus was no ordinary child. It wasn't just the new star in the heavens or the joyous angelic proclamation that made Jesus's infancy remarkable. It was also the fact that such a variety of faithful people—from different nations, professions, and backgrounds—felt immediately drawn to Him. Even before He uttered His invitation to “come, follow me,” they came (Luke 18:22). Not everyone came to Him, of course. There were many who paid Him no notice, and a jealous ruler even sought His life. But the humble, pure, devoted seekers of righteousness saw Him for who He was—their promised Messiah. Their devotion inspires our own, for the “good tidings of great joy” brought to the shepherds were for “all people,” and the “Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” was born that day unto all of us (see Luke 2:10–11).The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints:https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/?lang=eng#biblestudy #oldtestament #religion #churchofjesuschrist #ldspodcast #christianpodcast #missionary #lds #biblestories #christ #faith #faithinchrist #scriptures #bookofmormon #doctrineandcovenants #pearlofgreatprice #temples #houseofthelord #mormon #mormonbeliefs #chritiansandmormons #god #endure #ironrod #faithineveryfootstep #generalconference #prophets #followtheprophet #commandments #love #service #charity #keepstriving #keeponstriving #gospelgrowthandgoodtimes #become #newtestamentSupport the show

Right Question: “Are you reaching out to God?”Exodus 17:8-13 (NIV)The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.”Exodus 17:8-13 (NIV)So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill.
