Sunday Morning Worship. Graduate Recognition.
This week we will celebrate our youth with baptisms and the graduating class! In addition to this we will look into the Scripture to find clarity on Gods design for church leadership. We will also bring clarity to the next steps for MBCs pastoral team and future hiring. Please join us for a time of celebration and direction! Key Verse: Acts 14:21-23 “When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God. And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.” For Scripture, notes, upcoming events, & more: http://bible.com/events/49210949
June is graduation season! Every year, we prayerfully send off dozens of high school seniors as they enter into a new season of life. It is our hope and prayer that each of them would go forward with Jesus as their foundation, looking to Him as their source of direction, wherever they go in life. This week on Pursuing Life, we talk with a few of our seniors about how God has been at work in their lives, where they sense Him leading in the future, and how they want to continue to grow in their pursuit of life in Him. Do you want to publicly celebrate the work that God is doing in your life? Submit your story at calvarychurch.org/shareastory

On June 6, 2021 we celebrated Graduate Recognition during both morning worship services at DBC. It was there that Pastor Aaron Hedges, our Pastor of Youth and Family shared a powerful message titled The Danger of Disordered Loves that stirred and inspired many within our congregation to reach the next generation for Christ. During Pastor Aaron's message he shared that he would share further information that he couldn't fit into his sermon in a podcast and actually, we'll release two podcasts on this material. In this second podcast, "The Danger of Disordered Loves Part #2 - A Strategy For Reaching The Next Generation", Pastor Aaron shares further quotes, references, and resources regarding how followers of Christ can engage the millennial and Gen-Z age groups to the glory of God.

This is our Graduate Recognition weekend as well as Memorial Day - this message encourages each of us to always be learning - from Experiences, Everyone and from the Scriptures.
Graduates are facing a very strange road ahead. New challenges, new rules, new unknowns. But the love that God has for us is the same. His love is not only constant, but it powerfully guides our life. Disease and confusion will never have the last word.

This morning we honor and recognized our graduates. Pastor Charity presented a special message for our graduates which also was very relevant to us all!
The bible references children often. Faith like a child. Being like a child. There are things in life that are childlike and that are qualities that we cannot lose. Not childish, but childlike. The bible says to be like a child who believes that anything is possible and is full of wonder and imagination. Children see world in a much different way that we who have been knocked down by life a few times. Children have to grow up. They have to, as our text says, put away childish things. The writer says “when I was a child.” This is a man who has seen some life and began to look back over his life. He states that some things have to be put away as we grow. Clothes, cribs and favorite toys have to be put away because they simply do not fit any longer, and to continue to use them would be childish. There are however, some things that cannot be put away: We cannot put away a prayer life. The second thing that cannot be put away is the Word. The bible is the best selling book every year, but it is often not read. Reading the word is an important thing that cannot be put away. Third, we must not put the church away. Everyone needs a church, not online, but real church with real people with whom we can fellowship. We also need an alter. We cannot put an alter away. Both physical and spiritual, we need an alter on which we can lay down our lives for God. Our graduates have had to put away Ninja Turtle toys, the high chair and Little Pony shoes. Bro. Long encourages our graduates to put away the childish things, but not the important things.

Got Purpose? Eph. 3:20-2120 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. How Big Is God?Acts 2:1717 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. 1 Cor. 2:9-129 But as it is written:“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. Question: Got purpose? One distinctive of God’s purpose for our lives is this, ______________________. 1. We are _______________________ of Purpose. Eph. 2:10 2. God’s Purpose ________________________ Labor & Work. Matt. 9:37-38 / 1 Cor. 15:57-58 / Eph. 4:28 / 1 Thess. 1:2-4 3. His purpose is a _________________________. Eph. 2:10 Jesus is a big deal. He is the big deal. He’s made you a big deal. And your part in His purpose is a big deal.
