What happened in their motherhood, marriages, and their confidence when they got the right kind of support. Today, I'm bringing back a conversation that feels especially relevant right now, in that quiet space between Christmas and New Year's when reflection can quickly turn into self-judgment. I share a very real moment when my own “I should be further ahead” thoughts showed up, even as a coach who teaches this work, and walk you through the exact tools I use to redirect not-enough thinking. This episode is grounding, practical, and a powerful reminder that balance isn't about fixing yourself, it's about learning how to come back to sufficiency and presence again and again. Topics in this episode:Why “I should be further ahead” is one of the most common not-enough thoughts for ambitious working moms How not-enough thinking shows up in your body, mood, and behavior (even when you don't realize it) The difference between immobilizing yourself and overdoing it when self-doubt kicks in Seven practical strategies to redirect not-enough thoughts in real time How to anchor into sufficiency, presence, and satisfaction instead of comparison and self-judgment Show Notes & References:Episode 12 – Enoughness: https://www.rebeccaolsoncoaching.com/podcast/2021/6/7/enoughness Episode 116 – Balancing ambition with enoughness: https://www.rebeccaolsoncoaching.com/podcast/2023/6/5/balancing-ambition-with-feeling-enough-with-misty-dykema Book a free breakthrough call here: https://www.rebeccaolsoncoaching.com/book Boundaries & Balance Holiday Strategy Call: www.ambitiousandbalanced.com/boundaries-and-balance-session Discover all the details about Ambitious & Balanced: www.rebeccaolsoncoaching.com/ambitiousandbalanced You can watch this episode on YouTube! Happy Christmas, Heal Squad! With 2026 just being a week away, we're revisiting one of our most practical and empowering conversations to help you reset your health the right way. This throwback episode originally kicked off 2025 with a fresh approach to fitness and nutrition, and the lessons are even more relevant now. Maria sits down with fitness coach, nutritionist, and chef Christina Gomez to break down how women should actually be training and fueling their bodies as hormones change. From why high-intensity workouts may be working against you, to how strength training, isometrics, and cortisol-friendly movement can support metabolism, energy, and longevity, this episode reframes everything we've been taught about fitness. If your 2026 goals include feeling stronger, less stressed, more balanced, and more in tune with your body (not burned out by it), this throwback is the perfect way to reset, refocus, and build habits that actually last.

We're living amidst the greatest health scam in history. Find out about the biggest health industry scams shaping everything you do. Uncover the shocking health truth in this video!0:00 Introduction: the biggest health scam ever 0:36 What is food? 2:28 Dietary health misinformation 4:01 Medical fraud 6:01 Ultra-processed foods and disease7:03 More health fraud exposed9:55 Lancet Planetary Health Diet The most significant factor affecting chronic disease is food. Did you know there's a difference between the biological and legal definitions of food? The legal definition ignores biology, allowing literal poison to be marketed as food. Can you create health with ultra-processed food? No! It's not sustainable and doesn't repair tissues in the body. Healthy foods like red meat, saturated fats, and salt have been demonized. Food is often viewed only as a source of calories, making a glass of sugar water and a steak equal. “Balanced diets” are considered healthy, which further allows for the marketing of ultra-processed foods. Fraudulent health claims about food are just the tip of the iceberg. The definition of a drug is “anything intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent a disease.” By this definition, if broccoli can help prevent a disease, it's a drug. We know that the calories from ultra-processed foods are one of the primary drivers of chronic disease, yet there is no established definition for these foods. RFK Jr. is currently working to change this. The definition of disease has been broadened to include risk factors and pre-disease conditions as diseases. This allows doctors to treat more conditions with drugs. Even the definition of health has been changed to increase the demand for drugs! There's more. The Lancet Planetary Health Diet attempts to eliminate healthy animal-based foods and replace them with lab-grown meat, plant-based alternatives, and soy protein. It's argued that we must subsidize these unhealthy foods or people will starve, but why not subsidize real food and support smaller farmers who produce quality products? Today, we're revisiting our conversation with Skye Waterson. Skye is a Doctoral Candidate and ADHD coach who specializes in research-backed tips for navigating life with a neurodivergent brain. We wanted to rebroadcast this episode because our discussion on her book and specifically her approach to calendars and burnout is still some of the most practical advice we've had on the show. Whether you're hearing this for the first time or the second, there is a lot of gold in here. Let's jump back into my talk with Skye Waterson. If you'd life to follow along on the show notes page you can find that at http://hackingyouradhd.com/206 https://www.unconventionalorganisation.com/ This Episode's Top Tips Avoid overcomplicating your organizational tools, and try to rely more on basic principles, such as having a capture space, a prioritization system, and a scheduling system. Aim for 80% consistency with your systems and give yourself grace to bounce back after setbacks. No one will ever follow any system perfectly, so work on choosing tools and systems that can adapt to missed days without derailing your progress entirely. Don't forget to prioritize at least a little fun in your planning. Building dopamine into your day through enjoyable activities can help you stay consistent and avoid burnout.

Angela Hanscom is a pediatric occupational therapist, author, and founder of TimberNook, an award-winning, nature-based developmental program now operating in four countries. With a master's in occupational therapy and a background in kinesiology, she has become a leading voice on the critical importance of unrestricted outdoor play for sensory, motor, social, and emotional development. Her book, Balanced and Barefoot: How Unrestricted Outdoor Play Makes for Strong, Confident, and Capable Children, outlines the profound impacts of movement and nature on the developing brain and body.Description/Summary: In this enlightening episode, Bethany Lewis welcomes Angela Hanscom to explore the deep therapeutic benefits of nature and unstructured outdoor play. Angela shares her journey from traditional OT clinics to creating TimberNook, highlighting the sensory deficits she observed in children confined to indoor, structured environments. They discuss how the core developmental challenges many kids face today—issues with balance, attention, sensory processing, and emotional regulation—are remarkably similar to symptoms experienced by those recovering from concussion and brain injury. The conversation delves into the science of the vestibular system, explaining why movements like spinning, climbing, and rolling are not just play, but essential neurological workouts. Angela makes a compelling case for how natural, outdoor environments provide the varied, graded sensory input that "plastic" indoor settings cannot, promoting better integration, focus, and resilience. She also addresses the "risk paradox," explaining how overprotection can lead to poorer risk assessment and greater injury. For anyone—child or adult—dealing with sensory overwhelm, anxiety, or post-concussion symptoms, this episode offers a hopeful, practical argument for the healing power of getting outside, moving freely, and reconnecting with the natural world.Connect with Angela Hanscom and TimberNook:Website: http://www.timbernook.com (Features new research on TimberNook's impact in schools)Email: angie@timbernook.comInstagram: @timbernook_globalFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TimberNook.Camps/Book: Balanced and Barefoot by Angela HanscomBethany Lewis & The Concussion Coach:Free Guide: "5 Best Ways to Support Your Loved One Dealing with a Concussion" - Download at www.theconcussioncoach.comConcussion Coaching Program: For personalized mentorship in recovery. CTL Script/ Top Stories of December 19th Publish Date: December 19th Pre-Roll: From the Ingles Studio Welcome to the Award-Winning Cherokee Tribune Ledger Podcast Today is Friday, December 19th and Happy Birthday to Al Kaline I’m Chris Culwell and here are the stories Cherokee is talking about, presented by Times Journal Sawnee EMC announces a balanced rate approach for 2026 Northside Hospital Cherokee named one of the best in U.S. for maternity care School board honors retiring Chief of Staff Mike McGowan Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on saturated fats As well as Shane Delancey the Director of the Christmas Tradition at the Strand Theatre We’ll have all this and more coming up on the Cherokee Tribune-Ledger Podcast, and if you’re looking for Community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! Here is Shane Delancey the Director of the Christmas Tradition at the Strand Theatre Commercial: THE STRAND STORY 1: Sawnee EMC announces a balanced rate approach for 2026 Sawnee EMC has some good news for its members heading into 2026—most will see their monthly bills drop slightly in January compared to December. It’s not a huge change, but hey, every little bit helps, right? Here’s the deal: the Board of Directors voted to lower the Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment (WPCA) by $4.72 per month for accounts using 1,500 kWh. At the same time, they approved small increases to base charges—about $2 to $3 per month. The net result? A $2 monthly savings for most members using 1,500 kWh. For those using less energy, the savings will be smaller, but still there. Sawnee says it’s committed to keeping rates affordable and only making changes when absolutely necessary. Serving over 203,000 accounts across seven counties in north Georgia, they also offer energy-saving tips, rebates, and incentives to help members cut costs. Questions? Call 770-887-2363 or visit www.sawnee.coop. STORY 2: Northside Hospital Cherokee named one of the best in U.S. for maternity care Northside Hospital Cherokee just snagged a big honor—it’s been named one of the nation’s top hospitals for maternity care by U.S. News & World Report. The “High Performing” rating puts it in the top 10% for uncomplicated pregnancies, making it one of only seven hospitals in Georgia to earn the distinction. Last year, nearly 3,000 babies were born at the Canton hospital, which also holds a Level III maternal care verification. Christina Roberts, director of women’s services, called the recognition a testament to their “high-quality, compassionate care.” Oh, and it’s not just maternity—Northside Cherokee also excels in 15 other areas, from cancer surgeries to heart failure care. STORY 3: School board honors retiring Chief of Staff Mike McGowan After nearly 30 years with the Cherokee County School District, Mike McGowan is hanging up his hat—and the farewell was as heartfelt as you’d expect for someone who’s been a cornerstone of the district. At his final school board meeting last week, McGowan, CCSD’s first-ever chief of staff, was showered with gratitude, stories, and a few tears. Here is Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis and several school board members thanking McGowan for his service to CCSD. VO CLIPS From “hall monitor” to “everybody’s best friend,” McGowan’s legacy is clear: he made things better—for students, staff, and the entire community. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back. Break: Ingles Markets 8 STORY 4: Names approved for new Cherokee High School athletic facilities Tommy Baker Field isn’t going anywhere—at least in name. Cherokee County’s school board made it official on Dec. 11: the new Cherokee High School’s football field will still be called Tommy Baker Field, while the stadium itself gets a fresh name, Warrior Stadium. For Cherokee’s athletic director Jeremy Adams, keeping the name alive wasn’t up for debate. The original Tommy Baker Field, home to the Warriors for 70 seasons, was named in 1958 after Tommy Baker, a student who passed away tragically in 1957. His legacy? Still strong. BRAVES: Ha-Seong Kim is staying put in Atlanta—at least for another year. The 30-year-old shortstop signed a one-year, $20 million deal with the Braves on Monday, locking him in as the team’s starter for 2026. Not bad, considering he turned down a $16 million option just last month and walked away with an extra $4 million. Kim joined the Braves late last season, claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on Sept. 1. He made an immediate impact, hitting .309 with a .372 OBP, three homers, and 12 RBIs in his first 19 games. Sure, he cooled off at the end—1-for-19 in the last five games—but the Braves clearly see his potential. Kim’s journey hasn’t been without bumps. Injuries sidelined him for much of 2025 with the Rays, where he hit just .214 in 24 games. But let’s not forget—this guy won a Gold Glove with the Padres in 2023 and has 84 career stolen bases. The Braves are betting on a bounce-back. And if Kim can channel his San Diego form, he could be a 3-4 WAR player. High hopes, but hey, the talent’s there. I’m Keith Ippolito and this is your tribune ledger sports minute. STORY 5: Tanner Place in Canton will soon welcome its first residents Come January 1, the first families will finally move into Tanner Place, a long-awaited affordable housing community in Canton. The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday wasn’t just about opening doors—it was about honoring a legacy. Pat Tanner, the neighborhood’s namesake and a former Canton City Council member, stood alongside her 98-year-old mother, Ozella Tanner, as she cut the ribbon. “This is humbling,” Tanner said, her voice full of emotion. “We knew this city needed safe, decent housing, and today, we’ve made that happen.” Tanner Place replaces 39 old units with 70 new ones, funded through state tax credits, HUD vouchers, and local contributions. Mayor Bill Grant called it “money well spent,” noting it’s the first new public housing in Canton in over 50 years. CHA Director Jacquelyn Loberg said 18 units are ready now, with more to follow in January. This project is just the beginning—next up, the redevelopment of Oakside Drive. And now here is Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on saturated fats Commercial: We’ll have closing comments after this. Today we will explore a balanced reflection on mental health care. A recent article asserts that "therapy is becoming a new religion" . The article rightly names real problems — pop-psychology, over-pathologizing, influencer authority, and self-centered uses of “healing” language—but these are distortions of therapy, not therapy itself. Good mental health care is relational, accountable, and growth-oriented; it ought not replace faith, meaning, or community, and responsible clinicians are often the first to critique these excesses. Join us as we process how to balance mental and spiritual health. *** Link to article: https://medium.com/@Abdulsalamabdul864/why-therapy-is-becoming-the-new-religion-and-thats-not-a-good-thing-1bea9794d715 *** Links: (1) Help make PSB better: become a Patron at www.patreon.com/PureandSimpleBible. A "Moneyball" Approach to Fleet Composition: Colleague Jerry Hendrix argues for a balanced fleet mix, using a "Moneyball" analogy to distinguish between high-end warfighting assets and smaller ships for persistent presence, advocating for new Constellation-class frigates as utility vessels and upgrading existing Arleigh Burke destroyers to rapidly address near-term threats. 1936
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds in Los Angeles and Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund in Seattle - break down all the things that went right in UW's 38-10 win over Boise State, and where the team goes from here, especially knowing their head coach is apparently a wanted man. From the Huskies' point of view, it was a brilliant night from start to finish, as all three phases did their part to keep the Mountain West Champs at bay. The guys talked about that, as well as these other topics... - Demond Williams, his four-touchdown night and his ceiling going into 2026 - Balanced play on offense and a good way for Jonah Coleman to finish off his college career. - Ryan Walters really stepping up to created a strong Washington defense, especially as the season went on. - Turnovers were a big reason for UW jumping out to a big halftime lead and kept the lead growing. - Jedd Fisch said he's coming back to Washington, but will that be true a week or two from now? And does Fisch to Michigan even make sense from a practical point of view at this point in time? Building HVAC Science - Building Performance, Science, Health & Comfort
"Inspect your marketing the way you'd inspect a home—run diagnostics, don't guess." – Aaron Husak "Attitude is way more important than aptitude. One bad apple really can infect the whole company." – Aaron Husak In this episode of the Building HVAC Science podcast, Eric and Bill sit down with long-time friend and contractor-turned-marketing pro, Aaron Husak. Aaron traces his winding path from solar in the mid-2000s to building performance and BPI training, and then to founding Balanced Comfort in Fresno, CA. What started as a small HERS and energy-audit firm bootstrapped its way into insulation, HVAC, and weatherization, eventually landing on the Inc. 5000 list four times and scaling from $1.3M to over $12M in just a few years. Along the way, Aaron learned the complex realities of rapid growth: hiring quickly, depending on rebate programs, uncovering serious gaps in back-office accounting and HR, and navigating California's legal landscape. Things got especially rough when PG&E abruptly pulled a weatherization program that made up half of their revenue, right as Aaron was also dealing with the personal loss of both his parents. A rescue buyer ultimately acquired the company in early 2025, giving Aaron a hard-earned exit. From that experience, Aaron pulls out lessons for contractors who want to grow without blowing themselves up. He emphasizes perseverance, but also warns that good field tech screening doesn't automatically translate into good screening for accountants, HR, and support staff. He talks about the cost of keeping the wrong people too long, the importance of outside eyes on your books and compliance, and why attitude beats aptitude when building a healthy culture. He also calls out how easy it is to underestimate the impact of programs, receivables, and legal exposure—especially in states where "it doesn't matter if you're right, you still have to pay the attorney." Today, Aaron has pivoted into his next chapter with Sequoia GEO, a marketing firm focused on contractors and local service businesses, with a special emphasis on AI and "GEO" (Generative Engine Optimization). He explains why your Google Business Profile is the low-hanging fruit almost everyone neglects, how AI tools and devices like Plaud can turn field conversations into high-value website content, and why AI "likes structure" (bullets, lists, and real stories). The episode closes with practical advice: inspect your marketing like you would inspect a home, use affordable diagnostic tools to see what's really happening online, stay transparent with customers about recording and privacy, and treat expensive mistakes as lessons that tighten your processes for the future. When pediatric occupational therapist and TimberNook founder Angela Hanscom steps into the woods, she sees what most of us miss: children rebuilding the very systems in their brains that make attention possible. In this deeply hopeful conversation, Angela explains why daily outdoor play isn't just “good for kids”—it's biologically essential. From spinning and hanging upside down to tumbling down hills, nature gives children the movement their vestibular system craves, activating the brain's built-in attention network and counteracting the effects of our screen-heavy world. Schools partnering with TimberNook are reporting calmer classrooms, fewer behavior challenges, and even more academic risk-taking as children spend long, unstructured stretches in nature. But this episode goes beyond brain science. Angela and Ginny explore the social, emotional, and leadership skills that develop when adults step back and let the woods take the lead. You'll hear powerful stories of children negotiating conflicts, comforting friends, forming “clans,” navigating risk, and discovering capability without adults micromanaging every move. It's a reminder that the richness of what happens in the woods grows more than attention spans; it grows confidence, resilience, empathy, creativity, and identity. If you need encouragement, inspiration, or simply permission to let go a little, this conversation will shift how you see childhood and how you support it. Avoid these mistakes for a healthy gut! These 8 common gut health mistakes could be destroying your digestive health. Discover the habits and foods that ruin gut health, along with my expert gut health tips to improve your digestion and overall health today.1. Trying to improve gut health with fiberIncreasing fiber is one of the worst things you can do for your gut, yet it's commonly recommended. If your gut is damaged, fiber can exacerbate the issue, contributing to gas and inflammation. If you have gut inflammation, the carnivore diet can help! The carnivore diet helps increase glutamine, an amino acid that promotes gut healing. Zinc carnosine and butyrate, found in butter, are excellent for a healthy gut. Intermittent fasting and periodic prolonged fasting are crucial for maintaining digestive health.Approximately 40% of the population has SIBO. L. Reuteri can help reduce SIBO and has many other amazing benefits. It increases oxytocin, lowers stres, and even increases social capacity. Ensure you have strong stomach acid for healthy digestion and protection from microbes. 2. Commercial probiotics and yogurt The amount of probiotics in these products is so low that it won't make a difference in gut health. Many commercial yogurts are low-fat and contain added sugar and starch. 3. Colon cleansingThis eliminates beneficial gut bacteria, which can ultimately lead to constipation and other health issues. Avoid detoxing and focus on a healthy diet.4. Antibiotics Your gut microbiome does not fully recover after taking antibiotics. Bacteria that survive antibiotics can become antibiotic-resistant superbugs! If you have to take antibiotics take a good probiotic simultaneously.5. Antacids Acid reflux is a valve problem caused by low stomach acid. Weakening your stomach acid worsens the problem. Strong stomach acid is vital for digestion, protection against pathogens, and mineral absorption. 6. Low-fat diets Low-fat diets are bad for digestion because fat stimulates the gallbladder to release bile. Low bile leads to constipation and the inability to kill off microbes in the small intestine.7. Balanced diet Everything in moderation is the worst advice! Lowering carbs from 45% to 65% of your calories to 10% can significantly improve digestion.8. Superfood shakesSuperfood shakes and smoothies with kale, spinach, and fruit can overload the small intestine with fiber. Red meat is the best superfood!
