Eating locally is more accessible than one may think (in the US). There is an abundance backyard gardeners, first time homesteaders and CSA (community supported agriculture) around! If you want to become a local eater, I highly recommended “The Locavore Way” by Amy Cotler. It's a wonderful book explaining all The Who, what, when, where, why and how with additional readings and a list of videos too!
I used to be a chronic off season clothing storer. When I had my first born, I wanted no extra tasks on my plate. I was determined to have an all season closet and eliminate the storing of extra. Here's how it went and is going. Do you store cloths? What's your best strategy?

Gardening, Affordable Garden hacks and planning a garden you're proud of.
My idea of homesteading came from the desire to learn to grow a garden. From there, I learned to grow vegetables and continue to add in more “homestead-y” projects as money and time allows. Buying from the local farmers market or taking a weekend trip to the country side and visiting the farm, may just be the ticket you need to get inspired to implement what it is you home to learn and grow as a homesteader. No matter your location, you can homestead where you are - it just may look a little different than what you had in mind. Prioritize what it is you want to focus on and look for creative ways to start it.

In this episode, I share my personal conviction and theme for this year. Calling myself back to the basics in the way I live and do daily life. I hope you will consider joining me!

Homesteading is so much more than animals and growing vegetables. Homesteading is a spirit. It's being a good steward with what we are blessed with. It's spending money wisely and stretching a dollar. I have enjoyed the challenge of re-using things in my home and trying to look at things differently to see how I could potentially reuse that “thing”. I hope this episode inspires you to cultivate the spirit of homesteading where ever you are.
When I first became a keeper of chickens, I made 3 mistakes that could have easily been avoided. Don't be me! Learn from my mistakes. Also, if you are thinking you may want to keep chickens but are not sure if your current location is ideal, give this episode a listen!
