Would you start a movement to fight for something you believe in? My guest this week did just that. Meet Jimmy Flatt, founder of Hunters of Color (HOC). Jimmy is an avid hunter who saw the need for an "inclusion revolution" in hunting to make it safe and welcoming for members of the BIPOC community. And so was born HOC.The mission HOC is “To create a more equitable community for hunters of color by dismantling barriers to entry through educational opportunities, mentorships, and resources for new hunters, in order to promote diversity and preserve the North American Model of Conservation of our wild spaces and animals.”We chat about diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion in hunting, how allies can step up and help, the HOC mentor program, and much more. Plus Jimmy shares his favorite hunting story and takes on some rapid-fire questions.Did you enjoy this episode? Are you taking value from ISC? As a former law enforcement officer my feelings are complex, to say the least. But one thing I can say is this a time for listening and learning. And once we know better we must do better. Thank you for listening to my thoughts. I believe that we have the capacity within us for great acts of goodness. RtoR relies heavily on the mantra, “You’re entitled to your own opinion, not your own facts.”In addition to what they cover on their podcast, Chris and Adam are great human beings who strive to make the world a better place.
