Energy resilience for homeowners is the mission behind Energy Access Innovations, a multi-brand clean energy company building an end-to-end ecosystem for solar and battery storage. Nicole Tomasin, Chief Commercial Officer at EAI, joins Tim Montague to explain how the company serves the consumers the rest of the industry ignores, including DIYers and rural markets.Battery storage and solar access for homeowners is moving beyond coastal markets and high-income consumers. Energy Access Innovations has built a multi-brand portfolio covering distribution, DIY support, installation, and financing under one mission: making energy resilience affordable for every American. Nicole walks Tim through how the company's sister brands, including EG4, Signature Solar, Outback Power, Solar 76, Sun Atlas Power, and EA365, work together to serve customers that most distributors and installers turn away. The company's new XR60 battery, 60 kWh with a 16 kW inverter for under $20,000, and its EA365 prepaid lease, which returns a 30% rebate directly to homeowners, are proof that affordability and transparency are not competing goals. Here is what you will learn in this conversation about residential battery storage affordability and energy resilience:You will find out how the XR60 delivers 60 kWh of storage and a 16 kW inverter for under $20,000, why it ships as a single freestanding unit weighing 1,600 pounds, and when it arrives in market.Learn how the EA365 prepaid lease returns a 30% rebate directly to homeowners, making the residential ITC phase-out less damaging for consumers who no longer qualify for the tax credit.Understand why Energy Access Innovations built Sun Atlas Power, its own EPC company, to capture DIY customers who need installation help, and how it taps a network of 2,000 to 3,000 regional contractors already buying through Signature Solar.Find out why Tim pushed back on a California developer's claim that consumer-owned residential batteries are done, and what EAI's experience with DIY customers suggests about that prediction. You will hear why Texas surpassed California in storage deployment, how PJM grid services programs are generating returns that recover a battery investment in two to three years, and why Illinois is a priority market for EAI.The residential ITC phase-out is compressing margins across the solar industry and pushing more customers toward third-party ownership models. Illinois is incentivizing 1.8 gigawatts of distributed batteries through its clean energy incentive program, and Texas has already surpassed California in storage deployment. Contractors who are not yet offering storage are running out of time to get positioned.Connect with Nicole Tomasin, Energy Access Innovations Nicole Tomasi: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicole-santos-tomasin/Sun Atlas Power: https://www.sunatlaspower.com/Episode 325, James Showalter: https://youtu.be/7CoJQ_lTLkU Support the showConnect with Tim Clean Power Hour Clean Power Hour on YouTubeTim on TwitterTim on LinkedIn Email tim@cleanpowerhour.com Review Clean Power Hour on Apple PodcastsThe Clean Power Hour is produced by the Clean Power Consulting Group and created by Tim Montague. Daniel Francavilla built and exited a 12-year creative agency and launched two brands from scratch. In an AI-saturated market where 67% of B2B buyers now prefer to purchase without talking to a rep, and 45% use AI to vet vendors before their last purchase, your content is already doing the selling. And if you're a founder who's staying quiet, you're handing clients to whoever shows up.Daniel is the founder of Clarity Content, a Toronto-based brand strategy and content studio helping founders and leaders show up, build trust, and convert, starting with messaging. He created the "Ecosystem of You" framework, teaches personal branding at startup incubators and accelerators, and runs The Good Growth Company, a parallel practice for non-profits and social impact organizations. With over a decade in brand strategy across B2B and B2C, Daniel's clients include agency owners, founders, and enterprise leaders looking to stand out in a content landscape that AI is making noisier every day.He explains:Why your founder voice is no longer really optional and how staying quiet lets competitors and the market fill in that space on your behalfThe "Ecosystem of You" framework: how to build a personal brand from the unique intersection of your skills, passions, and interests (not just your job title)Why DIY lead magnets attract DIYers, not buyers and the assessment-style approach that converts high-quality leads even at $100 a leadThe 3-layer content ecosystem (founder-led, company content, and community UGC) that makes every paid ad you run actually workThe AI tools Daniel uses every day: Crisp.ai for call transcription and noise reduction, and Opus Clip for identifying high-virality hooks in long-form videoHow Daniel used AI to audit a client's website and discovered it was speaking to three completely different audiences before a single content dollar was spentThe Gartner stat reshaping B2B marketing: 67% of buyers prefer to buy without talking to a rep, and 45% used AI in their last purchase journey. Guest: Kevin Cost, of Mudplugz In this episode, we take a slight detour from our usual industry-insider deep dives to talk with someone who found himself "smack dab in the middle" of the drywall world by sheer necessity. Kevin Cost, the mind behind Mudplugz, joins the show for his first appearance to share how a single moment of inspiration on Christmas Eve 2024 sparked a construction industry sensation. Frustrated by the eyesore of holes in the wall and the lack of a quick, professional-grade solution, Kevin asked a simple question: Why isn't there a plug for this? Just two weeks later, the wheels were in motion. Kevin has turned that "lightbulb moment" into a product designed to bring ease and speed to the tedious task of patching drywall. What We Discuss in This Episode: The Christmas Eve Epiphany: The origin story of Mudplugz and why the simplest ideas are often the most effective. From Concept to Launch: How Kevin and his partner moved from a thought to a physical product in record time. Solving the Patching Problem: How Mudplugz is streamlining the workflow for professionals and DIYers alike by eliminating the "unsightly hole" phase of repair. Deep Patel, the Founder and CEO of GigaWatt, has spent nearly two decades addressing this challenge by helping people generate and store their own electricity using solar panels and battery storage.Deep started GigaWatt in 2006, bootstrapping the company from his parents' garage into a thriving enterprise with annual revenues exceeding $60 million since 2019. His mission is simple but powerful: to empower individuals with energy independence and reduce reliance on traditional utility grids. “We are bringing power back to the people,” Deep explained. “By having their own solar panels and battery storage, they can avoid the grid most of the time.”Solar energy isn't a new idea, but its accessibility has transformed dramatically. Deep noted, “Fast forward to 2026, we're finally at the stage where solar panels and battery storage are affordable for the normal person.” This shift makes it possible for more households to achieve grid independence, even as electricity rates continue to soar. One key factor in GigaWatt's success is its user-friendly software, enhanced with AI tools. Designed to simplify energy management, it optimizes solar and battery usage for maximum savings. “The software from the solar industry is written by engineers for engineers,” Deep said. “We're making it so a layman can understand how to operate this system—without an electrical engineering degree.”GigaWatt is currently raising funds through a regulated crowdfunding campaign on StartEngine, inviting people to invest in its mission. Deep sees this as an opportunity for supporters of clean energy to join the movement. “There's a lot of people just like you, Devin, that believe in solar and storage and would want to put some money into it,” he explained.By combining technical innovation with a clear social mission, Deep and GigaWatt are empowering homeowners to take control of their energy future. This is more than a business—it's a movement aimed at creating a cleaner, greener world.tl;dr:Deep Patel founded GigaWatt to help people achieve energy independence with solar and battery systems.GigaWatt has grown to over $60 million in annual revenues since its 2006 garage-based launch.Deep highlighted the affordability of solar technology, making it accessible to more homeowners.GigaWatt's AI-enhanced software simplifies solar energy management for everyday users. The company is raising funds on StartEngine, inviting supporters to invest in clean energy innovation. How to Develop Persistence and Positivity As a SuperpowerDeep describes his superpower as persistence and maintaining a positive mindset. He shared, “Being able to continue to evolve and navigate the changing environments… and showing up every day in a positive mindset is really our superpower.” Deep emphasized focusing on incremental progress rather than obsessing over immediate results, saying, “Just chip away every day and continue to march forward when times get hard.” His resilience has been critical in sustaining GigaWatt's success over two decades, despite the ups and downs of the solar industry.Deep shared how he navigated industry downturns that left others struggling. When faced with a challenging year, he invested his own resources into the business, even as cash flow projections looked bleak. He described it as “double downing in a time of fear” and credited his belief in GigaWatt's mission for getting through the tough times. His persistence during temporary storms ensured long-term success and growth.Tips for Developing Persistence and Positivity:Focus on small, daily wins to maintain momentum.Recognize that tough times are temporary, like storms that will eventually pass.Stay mission-driven rather than fixating on short-term results.Maintain a positive mindset by focusing on progress, not perfection.View challenges as opportunities to adapt and grow.By following Deep's example and advice, you can make persistence and positivity a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. You do you!Guest ProfileDeep Patel (he/him):Founder & CEO, GigaWattAbout GigaWatt: At GigaWatt, we empower DIYers, professionals, and homebuilders with solar and battery storage solutions. Today we're putting AI (Artificial Intelligence) to the test with AI money expert Jeffrey Trull. He's founder of the blog and newsletter, Money Meets AI where he shares tested prompts for your money. He joins us to sort the genuinely useful from the wildly overhyped when it comes to AI. We expand our conversation into prompts, privacy, hallucinations, portfolio questions, Google vs. ChatGPT, paid vs. free tools, and where AI can actually save real time for DIYers. Along the way, Bill wrestles with the tradeoff between efficiency and original thought, Jackie pushes the "AI as thought partner" framing, and Jeffrey stresses that it's great for lower-risk questions but terrible as your all-knowing financial planner. On this week's episode of All About Home Construction, we dig into one of the most important — and often overlooked — parts of any structure: footers and foundations. Whether you're building a house, deck, porch, or addition, everything starts with a solid base.We explain what footers do, why they must be wider than foundation walls, and how they spread the weight of a structure into the soil. We also talk about the types and strength of concrete typically used in the mountains of North Carolina, and why many builders choose stronger mixes to handle our freeze-thaw cycles.Another big topic is drainage — because even the strongest concrete can fail if water is not managed properly. We cover why proper grading, gravel, and downspout placement matter for protecting foundations. Finally, we discuss deck and porch construction, including the pros and cons of placing posts directly in the ground versus setting them on top of concrete footers with brackets. It's a practical conversation full of tips for homeowners, DIYers, and builders alike. If you're planning a project or just want to understand how homes are built to last, this episode will give you a strong foundation of knowledge.

Wendy shares her expertise on how to choose the perfect hue without losing your mind or your wallet. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot more than just picking up the prettiest paint chip! From understanding undertones to avoiding the dreaded “apartment beige,” they break down the nuances of paint selections, ensuring you're not left staring at a wall that looks more like a mistake than a masterpiece. But wait, there's more! The conversation takes a delightful turn as they unravel the secrets behind professional painting techniques. Ever wondered why that DIY project didn't quite turn out as you imagined? It's all about the prep work (and boy, do we mean ALL about it!). Wendy's insights on how to properly prep surfaces before applying that dreamy paint color are invaluable. She provides tips that range from the best primers to use to ensuring your surface is ready to embrace that new shade. Trust us, you'll want to take notes, lest you fall victim to the dreaded peeling paint or uneven finishes. And if you think you can wing it with cheap paint, think again! As the episode wraps up, Eric and John engage in a bit of playful banter about their own painting disasters and triumphs. They highlight the importance of hiring professionals when it comes to extensive projects and how to manage expectations with contractors. With Wendy in the mix, you'll find yourself laughing and learning, all while gaining practical advice that could save you from future DIY headaches. So grab a paintbrush (or maybe just a notepad), and tune in to ensure your next home project is a smash hit rather than a DIY disaster!Takeaways:DIY paint projects can turn into major fiascoes if you don't prep properly. Trust me, I've seen it all!Choosing the right color is just the tip of the iceberg; lighting plays a huge role in how that color looks at home.Don't trust that 'paint and primer in one' nonsense; a good primer is crucial for a lasting finish. When it comes to paint sheen, matte is your friend unless you're going for that 'shiny plastic' look.Links referenced in this episode:aroundthehouseonline.comWe kick things off with a hearty chat about the wild world of DIY disasters, those cringe-worthy fails that have us shaking our heads and chuckling at the same time. Eric G and John Dudley dive into the nitty-gritty of home improvement blunders, sharing their sage advice on how to steer clear of costly mistakes. From roofers stacking shingles like they're playing a game of Jenga on a second-story deck, to electrical upgrades that look like they were done by a raccoon with a wire stripper, this episode is a goldmine of cautionary tales. Eric, with his design expertise, reminds us that planning is key. It's all about having a game plan, folks! No one wants to find out halfway through a kitchen remodel that they should have checked the plumbing first. The duo also emphasizes the importance of knowing when to call in the pros. DIY might be a fun weekend project, but there are some things—like electrical work or gas lines—where the handyman's toolkit just doesn't cut it. So grab your favorite beverage, sit back, and get ready to take notes on how to avoid those DIY pitfalls that could leave you with a hole in your wallet and a headache to boot!Takeaways:Planning ahead for your DIY projects is crucial to avoid costly mistakes later on.Always consult a professional when tackling complex tasks like electrical work to ensure safety.DIY fails often stem from not pulling necessary permits, leading to headaches down the line.Using materials that don't meet building codes can create serious issues, so always check before you buy.Remember that just because you can buy it, doesn't mean it's safe or legal to use in your home.Learn from social media DIY disasters, as they can be great cautionary tales for your own projects. Thanks for listening to Around the house if you want to hear more please subscribe so you get notified of the latest episode as it posts at https://around-the-house-with-e.captivate.fm/listenIf you want to join the Around the House Insider for access to the back catalog, Exclusive Content and a direct email to Eric G and access to the show early https://around-the-house-with-e.captivate.fm/support We love comments and we would love reviews on how this information has helped you on your house! Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Marketing Espresso, I'm joined again by Heather from Green Door Co., and we dive into a question so many business owners are asking right now: Should I use AI to write my award submissions? With everyone leaning heavily on AI for content, it's natural to assume it could also take care of something as time-consuming as award entries. But as Heather explains, award submissions are a completely different beast — and relying on AI without understanding what it can and can't do could cost you valuable opportunities.Heather shares what she's seeing across the awards landscape: a huge wave of AI-generated entries that are generic, flat and immediately obvious to judges. And while judges won't outright reject an entry just because AI was involved, they can see when the submission lacks depth, nuance and genuine personality. The result? Those entries rarely make it to finalist stage, let alone win.We talk about why award submissions require a very particular kind of writing — part storytelling, part evidence-based persuasion — and why AI struggles with that structure on its own. Heather breaks down the reality that if you want AI to help, you still need to provide extensive detail, emotional context, examples, statistics and a clear narrative. It won't magically create that for you.We also unpack the misconception that AI saves time. What actually happens is the time simply shifts: instead of writing, you're spending hours crafting detailed prompts and then editing the output to make it sound human, consistent and aligned with the award criteria. In many cases, it's the same amount of work — sometimes more — and if you're entering an award with an entry fee attached, taking shortcuts becomes an expensive gamble.Where AI can be helpful is in refining your writing once you've done the heavy lifting. You can use it to tidy your tone, help with structure or polish your clarity — but only if your storytelling, emotion and evidence are solid to begin with.At the heart of this conversation is a reminder that award submissions are more than just a form you fill out. They're one of the most public expressions of your brand. Even if the submission isn't published, influential judges are reading it. Industry leaders are evaluating it. Your brand is being held to a high standard. And if the quality isn't something you'd proudly share, it's probably not something that will win.Heather also gives us a sneak peek into the custom AI tool she and her team are building — one trained specifically on award-writing methodology — designed to support DIYers without sacrificing quality. It blends the efficiency of AI with the nuance of expert award strategy, and it's set to launch later this year.DOWNLOAD MY CONTENT PLANNER - https://becchappell.com.au/content-planner/Instagram @bec_chappellLinkedIn – Bec Chappell If you're ready to work together, I'm ready to work with you and your team. How to work with me:1. Picture this: I'm live from Orlando, soaking up the chaos that is Design and Construction Week—yeah, the biggest design and building trade show on the planet! It's like Disneyland for DIYers, and I'm your tour guide on this wild ride. So, day one was an absolute whirlwind, where manufacturers big and small showcased their latest and greatest. Seriously, I walked 13 miles on the show floor, and I'm not exaggerating—my feet are still in shock. We kicked things off with LG, who apparently took ‘life is good' to a whole new level with their high-end appliances. I mean, did you ever think a dishwasher could look that good? We also checked out Kohler's booth, which was like stepping into a luxury spa—seriously, they had working showers and even a pond filled with lava rock. I half expected to see a celebrity sipping a fancy drink by the water. Not to mention Clopay's innovative garage doors that can switch from frosted to clear glass with the flick of a switch. I mean, who knew garage doors could be so... stylish? All in all, day one was packed with mind-blowing innovations that are going to shake up the home improvement world. Brian Thompson chats with Theresa Pablos, CFP®, about the early-stage realities of building a business. A former journalist and freelance marketer, Theresa transitioned careers to financial planning in 2023 and ultimately earned the CFP® certification mark in 2025. She recently joined Equalis Financial as an Associate Financial Advisor and is just starting to build her client base. In this episode, Theresa and Brian discuss the excitement, fear, and the uncomfortable but necessary work of defining a niche. You'll get practical tips for finding your target audience, learn how to provide real value, and get reflection tools to help you grow and scale your own business. Episode Highlights Defining your niche starts with understanding your "why." Choosing a niche allows business owners to serve clients more deeply, efficiently, and sustainably. Before you figure out who you want to serve, you need to identify why you want to build a business and what you like to do. Theresa knew she wanted a people-oriented career that made complex data easy to understand and improved people's lives. After some deep reflection, she discovered values-based financial planning as a career that could help her and others use their resources to create more freedom in their lives. "I want to build my book of business because I want freedom and because I want to be an expert on a topic," Theresa said. Identify your target customers and provide them with value. Once you've defined your why, you need to identify the type of person that you want to serve. While Theresa is still figuring it out, she's thinking about focusing on being a financial planner for creative solopreneurs or a financial planner for tech employees and other professionals who earn equity compensation. However, knowing who you want to serve is only half of the equation. It's equally important to ensure the services you offer solve a real pain point for your target audience. "A lot of my clients seems to fall into this creative solopreneur category, and something I've been reflecting on is that if you're a creative solopreneur, you have a need for financial planning in a way that justifies you going out and actually hiring me or someone else," Theresa said. "While I enjoy working with stock options, a lot of tech employees are DIYers and aren't actively seeking advice unless something big happens to trigger the need." Don't let fear of making the wrong decision stop you. After you know how you want to serve your target customers, it's time to test out your solutions. One way to do that is by having 100 conversations, as recommended by LeSean Smith in Episode 69. And if you're nervous, like Theresa, then you just have to do it scared. "My takeaway is that I just need to trust myself and that being nervous is part of the process," she said. "Fortunately, my journalism background very well prepared me to get a lot of 'Nos' from people, and that's okay because you have to get the 'Nos' to get the 'Yeses.'" If you want a safer, faster, and more effective way to wash your car than the old-school two-bucket method, this episode breaks down everything you need to know about the Dry Foam Method. This modern approach lets the soap hit the dirt at full strength, giving you better cleaning power with less risk of scratching. Instead of pre-rinsing the car and immediately diluting your soap, dry foaming allows the chemical to work at its most concentrated level. It removes more dirt chemically before you ever make physical contact with the paint. In this episode, you will learn: What the Dry Foam Method is and why it works The scientific reason dry foaming is more effective How dry foam reduces scratches and swirls Why this method outperforms the two-bucket wash A full step-by-step process you can follow When dry foaming works best, including black cars, ceramic-coated paint, road film, and heavy buildup This is the most efficient, modern wash method for both DIYers and professionals. From ancient Greeks assembling Ikea-style furniture to TikTokers accidentally creating mustard gas in their homes, they uncover how the urge to DIY is fundamentally human. Along the way, they discuss Victorian men who couldn't do shit, 1950s dads working through PTSD by tinkering in their garages, the health benefits of working with your hands, and the scientific proof that gay people are superior at home improvement. On this week's show we look at three gadgets that we think are responsible for the year of home automation. We also discuss Dolby Vision 2. All that plus your emails and the week's news on episode 1220 of the HDTV and Home Theater Podcast! News: Live TV streamers leave viewers more satisfied than cable ‘The Paper' to premiere on NBC after Peacock success Samsung's $2,000 Smart Fridges Now Serve Ads, Owners Are Furious Other: Panasonic Blu-ray & DVD John's Streaming Cost Spreadsheet These Gadgets Are Responsible for the Year of Home Automation We have been involved with home automation for a long time and have seen a lot of gadgets come and go. The category was mostly for DIYers or for people with deep pockets. It wasn't until these three products came out that the year/decade/century of automation was officially upon us. Philips Hue Smart Bulb - Philips essentially defined smart lighting and is used in 50M+ homes for ambiance/security the world over. Many have copied Philips but for us nothing beats these lights. Nest Learning Thermostat - The Nest Learning Thermostat revolutionized home climate control as the first smart thermostat, pioneering the category with its innovative self-learning technology and sleek design in 2011. Although we use the ecobee and recommend it, the category would not be where it is without the Nest Thermostat. Ring Video Doorbell - The Ring Video Doorbell revolutionized home security by pioneering the smart doorbell category, introducing remote video monitoring and two-way communication in 2014. What is Dolby Vision 2 Dolby Vision 2 is a next-generation HDR format announced by Dolby Laboratories on September 2, 2025, at IFA 2025. It builds on the original Dolby Vision by introducing AI-driven tools, enhanced creator controls, and features that extend beyond traditional HDR, such as improved motion handling. The format is designed to deliver more accurate, director-intended visuals across a range of TVs, adapting to content, viewing environments, and display capabilities. It comes in two tiers: Tier Target TVs Key Focus Dolby Vision 2 Mainstream TVs Core upgrades via new image engine and Content Intelligence for improved picture quality. Dolby Vision 2 Max High-performance TVs (e.g., premium Mini-LED) All core features plus premium extras like Authentic Motion for maximum brightness, contrast, and cinematic fidelity. Main Features Here are the primary features of Dolby Vision 2: 1. Dolby Image Engine A more powerful processing engine that enhances overall image rendering, enabling higher brightness, sharper contrast, and more saturated colors while preserving artistic intent. Supports bi-directional tone mapping, allowing creators to optimize content for specific TV capabilities (e.g., brighter displays) without losing fidelity. 2. Content Intelligence (AI-Powered Optimization) An AI suite that automatically adjusts picture settings based on content type, viewing environment (e.g., room lighting), and device. Light Sense: Upgraded ambient light detection combined with reference data from the source material to dynamically tweak brightness and visibility. Precision Black: Improves shadow detail and clarity in dark scenes, addressing complaints about HDR appearing too dark; creators can embed room/bias lighting info and black-level sliders for precise control. 3. Authentic Motion (Premium Motion Handling) Available only in Dolby Vision 2 Max: The world's first creator-driven motion control tool, enabling shot-by-shot adjustments to reduce judder (stutter) while avoiding the "soap opera effect." Makes 24fps cinematic content feel more fluid and authentic, ideal for movies, sports, and fast-action scenes. These features aim to make Dolby Vision 2 backward-compatible with existing Dolby Vision content (with some improvements), but full benefits require new TVs and mastered content. Industry Adoption: Hisense will be the first TV brand to introduce Dolby Vision 2 to its lineup. These TVs will be powered by MediaTek Pentonic 800 with “MiraVision™ Pro” PQ Engine, the first silicon chip to integrate Dolby Vision 2. Timing and availability will be announced at a later date. Joining Hisense, CANAL+ is the first media and entertainment group to commit to enhance its lineup – from movies and TV shows to live sport – in Dolby Vision, leveraging the latest innovation to enrich the viewing experience for its subscribers.

Q & A: - Russ from West Virginia called about flickering dining room lights when his electric water heater activates. We explained that this is likely due to the water heater's high current draw causing a voltage drop, which can make finicky LED bulbs flicker. - Cindy from Ohio asked if she could paint her cedar shingle siding. We advised that painting is a permanent commitment and suggested a solid color stain as an alternative for adding color while still allowing the wood to be seen. - Patrilla from Louisiana inquired about installing new flooring over existing sheet linoleum in her kitchen. We shared that many new floating products can be installed directly over the existing floor, often with a thin underlayment. - James from Mississippi wanted to cut a hole in his deck for an inflatable pool on a slope. We discussed the importance of ensuring the deck's structural integrity by adjusting supports and addressing the ground's grading to create a flat base for the pool. - David emailed about wall cracks and nail pops appearing two years after his home inspection. We reassured him that these are typically normal cosmetic signs of house movement and offered simple DIY fixes like spackling and re-nailing. Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies
Would you like access to our advanced agency training for FREE? https://www.agencymastery360.com/training With clients increasingly expecting their agencies to leverage AI, are you waiting for client direction, or leading the way on how to use it? Today's featured guest has a unique vantage point on this shift. He runs a platform that connects clients with credible agencies while helping agencies showcase their expertise, giving him a front-row seat to what clients truly want and what agencies fear about AI. With hundreds of thousands of agencies on his platform, he's seen firsthand that the agencies standing out are the ones leading the AI conversation, not waiting for permission to start it. He'll share why educating your clients on the possibilities of AI is now a competitive advantage and how his company's new verification layer aims to bring trust and clarity to an increasingly crowded agency marketplace. Tim Condon is the Chief Revenue Officer at Clutch, the largest B2B service provider marketplace online, boasting over 300,000 agencies. Tim helps agencies showcase services, collect reviews, and attract qualified buyers. With a front-row seat to the challenges and wins of agencies across industries, Tim sees exactly how the best adapt—and how others risk falling behind. Tim has been on the show before with advice on how agency owners can separate from the pack and position their agencies for success. In this episode, we'll discuss: Is AI coming for your agency? Document your AI processes before it gets expensive. How you should be starting the AI conversation. The power of documented proof. Subscribe Apple | Spotify | iHeart Radio Sponsors and Resources This episode is brought to you by Wix Studio: If you're leveling up your team and your client experience, your site builder should keep up too. That's why successful agencies use Wix Studio — built to adapt the way your agency does: AI-powered site mapping, responsive design, flexible workflows, and scalable CMS tools so you spend less on plugins and more on growth. Ready to design faster and smarter? Go to wix.com/studio to get started. Is AI Coming for Your Agency? It Depends The elephant in every agency Slack channel: Will AI replace us? Tim sees a spectrum. Some agencies think they're immune (“We only serve local dentists, so we're safe.”), while others are already using AI to transform delivery, productizing what used to be manual labor into scalable SaaS products for other agencies. Most agencies are stuck in the middle - unsure where to begin and afraid to fall behind. Basically, if your clients are tech-savvy DIYers, yes, you're at risk. But 99% of clients aren't like that. They want the results AI brings, but they don't want to build or manage it themselves. Hence, those who adopt AI to streamline delivery and elevate their positioning—not those who ignore it or just dabble, will win. AI Isn't a Threat. It's Your Edge AI is already making agencies faster, leaner, and more profitable if they leverage it correctly: Custom GPTs for marketing, sales training, and operations Automated research and lead qualification Speeding up delivery while maintaining quality Tim shared an example of a San Francisco agency using LLMs to automate internal processes. It wasn't complicated: structured folders, an AI model to search and output organized results. Simple, but powerful. If your agency isn't at least experimenting with AI to remove repetitive manual work, you're falling behind—not because AI will replace you, but because other agencies will outpace you by using AI to do what you do, faster and cheaper. Document Your AI Processes Now (Before It Gets Expensive) AI pricing today is like Uber in the early days: cheap to get you hooked, but it won't last. AI's current affordability is saving agencies the equivalent of multiple salaries annually. Eventually, these tools will increase in price to reflect their true value. What can you do about this? Jason recommends documenting your workflows and data used to train custom GPTs or AI agents now. If pricing spikes or a model goes down, you can pivot to another provider without losing your institutional knowledge. Why Agencies Must Shift from Order-Takers to Advisors Most agencies fail not because they lack skills, but because they act like order-takers. As a clients, it's frustrating for Jason when agencies ask, “What do you want us to do?” instead of showing him what's possible. Remember that as agencies, your purpose is to solve problems for your clients. Clients (dentists, local businesses, even large brands) don't know what's possible with AI. They think it's just a fancy chatbot. If you step up to educate and advise clients on what's possible with AI, you become indispensable. Look to build systems that: Research prospects automatically before calls Automate competitor and market analysis Help clients leverage AI in their workflows Agencies that step into this advisor role, showing clients what's possible and taking accountability for delivering results, become irreplaceable. You're not just executing tasks; you're creating outcomes they can't create alone, and that's where real value lies. Don't Be Another “Nomad Agency.” Be the Real Deal Too many people who failed at running agencies pivot into teaching how to run an agency while living the “digital nomad” lifestyle, without having actually built sustainable businesses. This creates noise and mistrust in the marketplace, making it harder for real agencies to stand out. Most of the time, agency owners are accidental entrepreneurs—people who mastered a skill and were asked to help, not those who started for the lifestyle. If you're listening to this, you're likely the latter. To stand out, you need to showcase not just what you can do but what you've actually done. Your wins, client results, and case studies speak louder than lifestyle photos on Instagram. The Power of Specific, Documented Proof If you want to stand out from the fly-by-night agencies, talk specifics. Others mostly speak in generalities. Instead, credible agencies share specifics. If you can clearly articulate, “Here's the exact problem we solved for a client just like you,” then you instantly separate yourself from the pack. Tools like Clutch help because they use AI to pull themes from your reviews to match buyer intent, but your agency still needs to collect, showcase, and share detailed case studies and client stories. Documentation matters. If you're working with SMBs or mid-market clients, they want to see clear, verified results before investing. When you can present proof, it's hard for low-quality competitors to compete, no matter how flashy their pitch decks look. Start gathering your “receipts” now to future-proof your positioning. Verification Adds Trust in a Crowded Marketplace Tim's company Clutch now offers Clutch Verified as an additional trust layer. They don't just take your word for it; they check your business registration, credit history, and operating longevity to separate real agencies from “gaming-the-system” players. It's a powerful way to signal to potential clients, “We're credible, stable, and vetted.” For clients, it's a good indicator of who you'll be working with and for agencies it becomes a sales asset. When potential clients research you on Clutch, verified agencies are prioritized, giving you an edge over competitors. What's the best way to save for a house without wrecking your retirement plan? That's just one of the big questions Joe Saul-Sehy, OG, and Mom's neighbor Doug tackle in this packed episode (number 1700!) of Stacking Benjamins. Whether you're trying to figure out where to park your emergency fund, how to handle inherited IRAs, or how to financially plan as a single adult with big responsibilities (hello, aging parents!), this episode is full of relatable scenarios and actionable strategies. Stackers Torin, VJ, Lori, and Michelle ask everything from: How much is too much in your emergency fund? What happens to inherited IRAs when you're already juggling financial priorities? What should single people be doing right now to prepare for the future? How do you juggle helping aging parents while keeping your own goals on track? Plus, we mix in commentary from Kevin at Edward Jones and longtime listener Ron—offering insights from inside the financial services world and the Stacker community. The guys debate personal finance media narratives, give practical advice for budgeting large windfalls, and reflect on why saving feels easier in theory than in practice. Also covered in this episode: Why financial advice often skips over single individuals—and what to do about it Emergency fund strategies: where to park the money, how much to keep, and how to make peace with the fact it isn't earning sky-high returns How to prioritize debt, student loans, savings, and investing without setting off a financial anxiety spiral The value of short-term tradeoffs when you've got long-term goals All delivered with the basement's signature charm—where the coffee is lukewarm, the guidance is practical, and the jokes… well, let's just say they're dividend-eligible. This episode is a perfect listen for: New Stackers building their financial foundation DIYers trying to juggle competing money goals Anyone who's inherited assets and doesn't want to mess it up People who've realized adulting is basically managing 14 financial priorities at once and still remembering to bring snacks.
