My whole life I felt that I had to become "more" to attract my dream man, that the current version of me wasn't enough and wouldn't be able to attract a “high value man”. Well God taught me better and took me on a journey that I want to share with you in this podcast episode.
Sparked by a message from a participant in my coaching program—“I feel like I know my authentic self, but I can't be her”—this episode explores why being true to ourselves can feel so hard, especially when fear and the desire to belong get in the way. I also share my own reflections, including the moment I realised that being liked by everyone was no longer worth the cost of self-abandonment. From navigating rejection to celebrating small moments of alignment, this episode is a reminder that authenticity is not about being fixed or perfect, but about honoring who you are in the present—and having the courage to live that truth out loud. In this episode you will learn: Why knowing your authentic self isn't always enough and what gets in the way of expressing it The emotional cost of authenticity, and why not being liked by everyone is part of the deal The difference between seeking approval vs. cultivating inner alignment How to celebrate small moments of authenticity and build trust in yourself Why authenticity is fluid and ever-changing, not a fixed identity How to magnetise the right people—even if it means repelling others - How did you show up authentically today and how did that make you feel? Liz Matthews has been a social media friend and member of the Chapel Probation Facebook group, and we finally got her on to tell her story. She graduated from Biola where she played basketball, but she actually had a good time there. Liz brings up the concept of "shelving" borrowed from Ex-Mormon podcasts. It's where you place all the doubts, questions, and issues that aren't compatible with evangelical christianity. But there is only so much space on this existential shelf and when it fill up, it collapses. Send us a textWhat happens when life forces you to take a hard look at what really matters? Sometimes it takes an extreme situation to push you toward an authentic path. After watching my daughter become the target of cruel bullying about her late father, I made the decision many parents dream of but few execute - pulling her from school to create a life on our own terms. Combined with my recent bipolar diagnosis, this wake-up call inspired the purchase of a camper and a journey to the beautiful Ozarks that would change our perspective on what life could be.My coaching philosophy of "getting paid to exist" comes to life through stories from the road. It's not about passive income or trendy hustle culture - it's about aligning your income with activities you would do regardless of financial compensation. Throughout this raw conversation, I share how capturing authentic content for clients (like documenting a beautiful Reiki session between my client and my daughter) represents the antidote to the overly curated social media landscape we're drowning in.The episode culminates with my exciting announcement: joining She Heals the World as their newest business coach, a globally recognized organization with 15 years in the coaching industry. Are you being REAL with us?We all want to "just be real," but the honest truth is that there are a lot of external societal pressures that prevent this from happening. Psychological studies prove that living authentically can benefit you physically, emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually. Coming from an inauthentic place prevents real relationships from forming and even creates a lack of self-trust. So why do we suppress our real opinions, thoughts, or personality? In this episode, we'll explore ways to come in alignment with yourself and your values and leverage that authenticity to live a more fulfilled life. If you are like most humans, you have an innate inner desire to "find your purpose" and fulfill your mission on earth. It's a fire that burns within us, urging us to accomplish our soul's goal and reason for traveling to Earth. It can feel like a longing, craving, and constant hunger that begs to be satiated. I truly believed my children, my husband, and being the ideal mother/podcaster/influencer would fulfill that longing, but instead they only made it feel more ravenous inside of me. My failure stemmed from the insatiable thoughts that I needed to be more, do more, have more, and change more. My failure tormented me and always left me feeling unworthy and not enough. Then, through my deep soul journey, the truth revealed itself, and I shared it in this episode of The Hippie Moms Podcast. EP:132 As a former "raging people pleaser", I know firsthand how exhausting it can be to constantly put others' needs before your own. I used to do everything for everyone, to the point where I was absolutely drowning. I'd say yes to things I had no time or energy for, shy away from difficult conversations, and never accept help - all in the pursuit of being the "perfect" mom, wife, friend, and professional. But I've learned that your purpose in life isn't to serve others - it's to live and enjoy your life fully, on your own terms. It takes courage to stop being a chameleon and start being your authentic self. I had to shed a lot of old relationships and communities that didn't accept the real me. But surrounding myself with my "people" - those who love and support me unconditionally - has been so freeing. Now I use my values as a compass, being honest about what I want and need, even if it means setting boundaries that ruffle some feathers. I've realized that being honest and assertive isn't the same as being unkind or selfish. It's about having the courage to show up as your true self. Overcoming people-pleasing isn't easy, but it's so worth it for your mental health and personal fulfillment. Start small, be patient with yourself, and remember - you are worthy, even if it means ruffling a few feathers.

SET FREE SISTERHOOD- Mindset and Over drinking Coach -Thriving Alcohol Free- Faith Filled Women
Hey friends! I'm so excited to share this powerful conversation with my dear friend Therese. Therese has been on an incredible journey of self-discovery and healing, and I know her story is going to really resonate with so many of you. When Therese first reached out to me, she was in a really tough spot - struggling with alcohol use and feeling lost, ashamed, and unsure of her true self. But through our work together, she's been able to uncover the deeper issues beneath the surface and make some profound shifts in her life. Therese shares so vulnerably about growing up in a large, volatile family where she learned to use alcohol as a coping mechanism. She talks about the guilt and shame she felt as her drinking spiraled, and how she even resorted to hiding her habits from her loved ones. But the turning point came when Therese realized she wanted more - more freedom, more authenticity, more connection with herself and her family. And that's when she courageously reached out for support, despite her fears and doubts. What I love most about Therese's story is how the coaching process helped her discover her true values and align her life accordingly. She talks about the power of getting clear on who she is and what matters most, and how that has transformed her relationships in such a beautiful way. Therese is now living with a sense of peace, purpose and freedom that she never thought possible. And I know her journey is going to inspire so many of you to start peeling back the layers and getting real about what you truly desire. So grab a cup of coffee and get ready to be encouraged, my friends. Therese's story is one of hope, resilience and the power of taking that first brave step. If you've been feeling a nudge to explore your next step toward freedom and purpose, I invite you to join me for a special call. Let's chat and see if coaching is the right fit for you on your journey to break free and grow. Your story matters, and I'm here to help you write its next beautiful chapter. Email me to book a time. michelle@setfreesisterhood.com
