Welcome to a very special edition of Level Up Podcast, with your hosts Jemimah Ashleigh and Tim Hyde. Jemimah is fresh back from an international speaking gig in the USA and they are joined today by Nick Johnson, the founder of Nimic Productions who you might recognise as the sponsor of Level Up Podcast, and where Jemimah and Tim record the show. Nick shares how he began Nimic Productions with his best friend from University, Mic, including how he and his business partner custom built their studios in Canberra and Sydney, and how their builders took so long to finish construction they had the manually lay a large floor over three days, non-stop. Nick shares the hurdles he’s overcome in building his business, including overspending on construction and how they were impacted by the GFC, and how that created a lasting change to how they do business today, as well as their achievements including being on The Gruen Transfer with Wil Anderson (available in ABC shops and ABC iview). TOP 5 LESSONS Have strong payment terms in your business. Diversify in the type of clients you can serve, so you’re not relying just on one industry. Hire someone to do things that you’re not good at or enjoy in your business so you can do the things you’re actually good at. You’re only as good as the last thing you accomplished. Have and build your resilience. QUOTES “All the domains were taken. One day we were just messing around mixing our names together and decided that yep, that would do.” -Nick “The barrier to entry back then was quite different and much higher.” -Nick “When it’s your baby, your business…it’s really hard to give it up.” -Nick “Giving parts of your business to someone else who may or may not be as good at it as you, frees you up to do what you’re really good at.” -Tim Connect with Nick from Nimic Productions here: www.nimic.com.au Connect with Jemimah and Tim on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/leveluppodcast Connect with Jemimah here: www.facebook.com/jemimahashleighau www.jemimahashleigh.com www.instagram.com/jemimahashleigh Connect with Tim here: www.facebook.com/winmoreclients www.winmoreclients.com.au www.instagram.com/winmoreclients
Tim and Jemimah are back with another episode of Level Up Podcast, today talking all about on of the biggest mistakes business owners make: not valuing their time enough. So why are coffee meeting so dangerous, when do you cancel them and when do you attend them? Jemimah and Tim are here to guide us through this minefield. Pick a good place Set a time frame Know your worth. Jemimah shares a powerful story with us about the minute she decided she would no longer do coffee meetings – and how its changed the way she operates in business, and Tim shares his thoughts on travelling to meet people, and considering your return on investment. Tim and Jemimah want to hear from you – what are your experiences with coffee meetings? Share the good, the bad, the terrible and the wonderful by getting in touch on the links below! TOP 5 LESSONS You have to pick a good place to have your café meeting – with good and healthy food. If you’re meeting people regularly, you need to look after your health. Set a time limit and stick to it. If the other person wants to run over that and does not respect your time, it says more about them than you. Set an agenda and play the game of “What’s the Deal?” – then you know why you’re meeting and that will change the conversation. Consider your return on investment and establish the expectations of the meeting upfront. You have to value your own time and worth even if others don’t. QUOTES “I’m a coffee bandit.” Jemimah “We do free things all the time, we have to value our time. Your giving so much away for free and buying your own coffee.” -Jemimah “There are two types of people. The Done For Yous and the DIY’ers.” - Tim “Sometimes a coffee meeting is necessary to build a relationship with someone.” -Jemimah “I’ve converted my coffee chats to Skype or Zoom. Having a clear agenda means I can bang out three meetings an hour rather than one every two hours.” -Tim “If the conversation is going really well, be cognizant of the time frame set. It goes a long way.” -Tim Connect with Jemimah and Tim on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/leveluppodcast Connect with Jemimah here: www.facebook.com/jemimahashleighau www.jemimahashleigh.com www.instagram.com/jemimahashleigh Connect with Tim here: www.facebook.com/winmoreclients www.winmoreclients.com.au www.instagram.com/winmoreclients

Its relationship goals, health goals, mental health goals… write them down and be accountable to yourself.” -Jemimah “If we know WHY we’re doing something – it’s not so important when things are going well, but when we face some adversity its really important to keep us going.” -Tim “If your WHY is money, go for it!” -Tim Connect with Jemimah and Tim on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/leveluppodcast Connect with Jemimah here: www.facebook.com/jemimahashleighau www.jemimahashleigh.com www.instagram.com/jemimahashleigh Connect with Tim here: www.facebook.com/winmoreclients www.winmoreclients.com.au www.instagram.com/winmoreclients
Welcome to episode 6 of the Level Up Podcast with Jemimah Ashleigh and Tim Hyde, this week talking about “The Sum of 5 People”. First coined by the man who trained Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, the saying goes “You are the Sum of the 5 People You Spend the Most Time With”. So, when was the last time you thought about the five people you spend the most time with, and the influence they have on your life? This is one of Jemimah’s favourite topics to talk about, and you’ll hear through the episode tips and tricks for identifying who your sum of 5 are now, and how to change them – and to perfectly illustrate the impact these people have on your life and business, Jemimah and Tim refer to a study right of Stanford University, USA. So who are the five people that you admire and spend the most time in your business and life? What qualities do they possess that you like or don’t like? What lessons can we learn from celebrities like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Will Smith? This episode will challenge you to evaluate the people you surround yourself, and ask you to decide – are these people who fan your flames or are they bringing you down? TOP 5 LESSONS Your sum of 5 people do not need to be people you spend physical time with. You can spend time with them on their blog, on a podcast or a video, or with books. You’ll naturally attract your sum of 5 people initially without realizing. Be honest about the influential people in your life – and clearly identify where you are and where you aspire to be. Ensure your sum of 5 people matches what you want. It doesn’t need to be complicated. You just need to start. QUOTES “You won’t spend physical time with them, you spend time with their ideas in books and podcasts.” “Don’t lie to yourself. There’s a lot of people playing too small because their too scared to try.” “This will help you determine who you spend your time with.” “There is no accidental success.” “It doesn’t have to be congruent right now. Now, you’re awake and you can make some changes.” MENTIONED LINKS Connect with Jemimah and Tim on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/leveluppodcast www.leveluppodcast.com.au Connect with Jemimah here: www.facebook.com/jemimahashleighau www.jemimahashleigh.com www.instagram.com/jemimahashleigh Connect with Tim here: www.facebook.com/winmoreclients www.winmoreclients.com.au www.instagram.com/winmoreclients
Welcome to episode 5 of the Level Up Podcast, with Jemimah Ashleigh and Tim Hyde – this week on the show, Jemimah and Tim share their take on Matt Alderton’s tips for successful networking! You might remember Matt from episode 4 – he’s the owner of Bx Networking and in episode 4 gave incredible insight into getting great Return on Effort when it comes to networking. So, what do Tim and Jemimah have to add? Listen to the full episode for their tips on: Being congruent, looking and feeling the part Not being exclusive to just one networking group Going big and building friendships Tim’s ABC Network “Tight Butt Syndrome” You’ll also hear how Jemimah and Tim first met, and how being in the room translates to real dollar figures in your business and real opportunities, as well as networking horror-stories of what not to do. TOP 5 LEVEL UP TIPS Dress appropriately and make an effort with your appearance – be congruent and authentic with who you are and your business. Do not try to make a sale in the room. That is not the primary reason for being there. Sell to other people’s networks, not the people in the room. You have to get out of pyjamas and get in the room, and let some magic happen! Have your business cards ready – avoid writing on napkins! Networking works when you make the effort in growing and nurturing friendships – build your know, like and trust factor. QUOTES “A transaction mindset is exhausting for you and everyone around you.” “Opportunities seized, is opportunities multiplied.” “The things that we do make our success, and success is not an accident. There is no room for luck here.” “Be specific about who you want to connect with – saying you want just small business owners doesn’t help. Be more specific.” MENTIONED LINKS Connect with Jemimah and Tim on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/leveluppodcast Connect with Jemimah here: www.facebook.com/jemimahashleighau www.jemimahashleigh.com www.instagram.com/jemimahashleigh Connect with Tim here: www.facebook.com/winmoreclients www.winmoreclients.com.au
Welcome to episode 004 of the Level Up Podcast with Tim Hyde and Jemimah Ashleigh. Today Jemimah and Tim are joined in the studio by #1 best-selling author, speaker and award-winning entrepreneur Matt Allerton from BX Networking. Matt was named the 2015 Business Person of the Year and 2016 Business Leader in the New South Wales Business Chamber Awards and is here on Level Up to talk about Networking. So how do you go from working in retail to owning a successful networking and events business? Matt realized through his work with retailers, that small business owners are hugely under-resourced and need more support to succeed – with 60% of small business owners paying themselves less than the minimum wage, leading to tax debt and other debts, flowing on creating huge problems in the Australian economy. Listen to the full episode to hear Matt’s five tips for better Return on investment with Networking, including: Getting your pitch right (and how not to pitch) and have a thorough understanding of your ideal client or referral partner Showing up and being in the room and The Three B’s Spreading yourself through different networking groups You are the sum of the 6 people around you Being authentic and genuine TOP 5 TAKE AWAYS The most successful entrepreneurs say no more often than they say yes. Networking makes you step up your game, and will change your business and life. You’re not selling to the people in the room. You’re selling to the network of people connected to everyone in the room. Talk about something positive. How are you going to sell from a place of negativity? Give people a way to open a conversation with others they know, about what you do. Creating and nurturing relationships, on time, is a representation of how you do business. QUOTES “Networking has changed the face of my entire business in every way.” “It can be lonely having a growing business. Even if you have 5 or 6 staff, you might be friendly with them, but they aren’t your friends. That’s why networking is so valuable.” “If you cast your net so wide when you pitch in the room, nobody can help you connect with anyone in their network.” “If you’re sloppy with your 40 seconds, you don’t have business cards, you turn up late – no one is going want to know, like or trust you with their business, or refer you.” “Desperation is transparent in people.” “No one gives a referral, if nobody gets a referral.” Mentioned Links: Connect with Jemimah and Tim on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/leveluppodcast Connect with Jemimah here: www.facebook.com/jemimahashleighau www.jemimahashleigh.com www.instagram.com/jemimahashleigh Connect with Tim here: www.facebook.com/winmoreclients www.winmoreclients.com.au www.instagram.com/winmoreclients Connect with Matt here: https://bxbusinessnetworking.com.au/

QUOTES “You just have to make a decision to start.” - Jemimah “You don’t need to learn everything.” - Tim “As a small business owner, you have to have a certain amount of ego to keep going and keep trying.”- Tim “You might feel dumb making your first video or going to your first event. Welcome to Level Up with Jemimah Ashleigh, and Tim Hyde! Today, we’re exploring what the many levels of business, really are. So, what are the levels? There are many different definitions – and it can be confusing – especially when you hear about things like Small Business Tax Cuts, or how the Government defines small and medium business. So today, Jemimah and Tim are outlining their seven levels of business – what they are, and the hallmarks and challenges of each. So, let’s dive in to the levels… Level Zero The Business Intenders, or Wantrepreneurs. The people who are thinking about business and are normally in a job with a secure consistent income as a safety net. Everybody starts their business journey from here, even seasoned business owners. The biggest challenge here is around taking action and starting. Level One You probably still have a day job, but your business has started and you’re doing everything yourself – from delivery of products and services to the books and marketing. You’re spreading dollars out as much as possible, and DIY’ing just about everything from business cards on Vistaprint, to website design. The challenge here is investing what resources you have, in a professional to get the job done. Level Two This is when your business has become your day job – the security and safety net of a job has gone. The best part of being at Level Two are the leave provisions you get from being your own boss… but your sick leave provisions leave much to be desired. This is where you’ll notice patterns in your marketing too – times of boom and bust, going from doing what you need to bring in the clients, focus on delivering for those clients, and then realizing there are no more new clients and the cycle repeats itself. Level Three At this level, you’re more concerned with implementing the systems that will deliver leads consistently and shorten the process for delivering your products or services. This is also the level at which you begin to take ownership and responsibility for things that would normally be taken care of in a day job – things like sick leave, superannuation, maternity/paternity leave, and…taxes. This is the level at which many Coaches and Consultants tap out, and also begin to build a team and recognise where they add the most value to their business. The challenge here is letting go! Level Four At level four, you’re beginning to involve staff in key functions of your business. More tasks are outsourced to experts, and you’re beginning to pay yourself an actual wage, consistency, with money left over for a rainy day (it’s a real thing!) The challenge here is hiring the right people for the right jobs. Level Five You’re no longer doing much of the work in your business, and you won’t know clients by name anymore or know where they are in your funnel. Your finger will no longer be on the pulse of everything – if you can here, stop and hire a manager – at this level your most likely to become a bottle neck in your own business. The challenges here continue to be around team building – hiring slowly, firing fast, and creating the right culture in your business. Level Six This is an unusual space to find many coaches or consultants – it tends to be filled with manufacturers or product based business. At this level, you’re now a manager in your business and your time will be spent managing staff, and your business will be on value based pricing dealing with bigger and bigger contracts. The interesting thing here is you are more likely to not know who all your staff are, and they won’t necessarily know you either. Level Seven At this level, you’re more concerned with key performance indicators and your managing millions of dollars in budgets annually, as opposed to a $20 Facebook ad and hoping to get a single sale. You also have staff on leave frequently, and there will always be a birthday cake somewhere. TOP 5 LEVEL UP TAKE AWAYS Be willing to take action. Invest, where possible, in a professional to help you - you’ll save time and make money. Systems are the cornerstone for your business to level up. You cannot scale your business, if you’re doing everything. It is OK if you want to be at level seven, or three, or five. It’s OK to be wherever you want to be. QUOTES “We have to know where we are in business, and where we want to go.” “The difference between someone who is successful and someone who is not successful at any level of business, is someone’s willingness to act.” “It’s very easy to lose sight of how much farther ahead we would be, if we paid for a professional to do a job for us. “ “My job is to get good people on board, and then get out of their way and let them do their job.” “Hire slowly, fire quickly.” “How much are you outsourcing and leveraging?” “It’s amazing how much harder you work when you have no safety net.” FIND US HERE Connect with Jemimah and Tim on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/leveluppodcast https://www.facebook.com/groups/leveluppodcast/ Connect with Jemimah here: www.facebook.com/jemimahashleighau www.jemimahashleigh.com www.instagram.com/jemimahashleigh Connect with Tim here: www.facebook.com/winmoreclients www.winmoreclients.com.au www.instagram.com/winmoreclients
Welcome to the very first episode of Level Up Podcast, with Jemimah Ashleigh and Tim Hyde! After wrapping up separate shows themselves, Jemimah and Tim decided to start a Podcast together – over a few wines. Jemimah began her entrepreneurial adventure while working in Law Enforcement, after a chance encounter with a silversmith in New York City, inspiring her to create her bespoke jewellery business, Tangs Design. Since then, she has grown three successful businesses and is now a consultant and positioning expert. Tim started his first business as a six-year-old, including beginning a family circus charging 20c admission – and spending his profits on mixed lollies. He went on to work in the public service sector, beginning a side-hustle website called The Riot Act with over 18 million-page views per year, and many law suits (no big deal, right?) On this podcast, Jemimah and Tim will be sharing their knowledge and experiences in levelling up their businesses and chatting with experts, exploring how businesses grow with masterclasses and teaching practical skills – not just identifying problems and issues, but blending strategies and practical skills to support you to level up your business. LEVEL UP TAKE AWAYS It is never too late to start your own business, whether your four, forty or eighty-four. If you find yourself going brain-dead in your current occupation, you can start your own business and be successful. Not everybody wants to be building up to the next BHP Billiton level, or Tony Robbins. Resilience is an important part of being an entrepreneur – you will constantly be trying and testing things out and seeing what works. There is not a big difference between a commercial organisation or not-for-profit in how they operate. They all have a product or service to sell, to attract time money and resources. Don’t swim around in large piles of money like Scrooge McDuck. Metal is hard, it will hurt. QUOTES “What is it that takes us as entrepreneurs, to the next level?” - Jemimah “There’s a misconception about the things we do, that it’s a one-size fits all approach.” - Tim
