Jacqueline is a jewellery designer whose work I've admired for many years, probably because it's so architectural. As you probably know by now, we try to record these podcasts in the guest's home whenever possible, and this one is particularly exciting on that front, because Jacqueline lives in a 1960s house perched on a hillside in Los Angeles. As is the custom on this podcast, I asked Jacqueline to talk about a home from her past, her current place, and a home of the future. She told me what it was like to grow up in a big family, and how the soul music that boomed around the house was somehow a form of defiance against the racial tension that African-Americans were feeling at that time. And we also talked about how the pandemic inspired her homing instinct, why she's enjoying living with less and her love of mid-century modern houses. For more:Head to the Carpenters Workshop Gallery‘s London space, to visit ‘Jacqueline Rabun: A Retrospective'Check out Jacqueline Rabun's latest workFind out more about her dream home, the Loring HouseVisit our website for images and details of the places discussed Sign up to The Modern House newsletter for weekly interiors inspirationProduction: Hannah PhillipsEditing and mixing: Oscar CrawfordGraphic Design: Tom YoungMusic: FatherThis episode is sponsored by Vitsoe. Hello everyone, this is a very special episode since it is my first one on this show & I am very lucky to call the guest of today a dear friend of mine. I would like to introduce you to Anna Rosa Moschiouti. Raised in Greece, but she has been living in Antwerp for the past couple of years. We met 4 years ago & at that time she had just opened her flagship store in the Kloosterstraat, which is still there. So you should definitely go & check it out! A beautiful & cozy space where her architectural inspired collections are displayed. When we meet, we always talk a little bit business & it has been fascinating to see how she has grown & managed her business along the years. I am very happy that I can share with you a recorded version of our conversations. In this episode, Anna talks about how she went from being an architect to a jewellery designer & business owner. Her journey brought her almost accidently in Antwerp, where she has grown her business into an established brand. We talk about the importance of trusting your gut in making decisions & following love. It is fascinating to see how the core values of Anna & the brand are reflected in every aspect. I hope you enjoy this conversation! Lots of love, Lien Hébergé par Ausha. Visitez ausha.co/politique-de-confidentialite pour plus d'informations.

We are programmed to put other people's needs before our own. We are programmed to put money, fame and "success" on a pedestal. What if we programmed ourselves to choose ourselves first? Where we listen to the whispers of our body, our intuition, our soul and then be okay to stop or pivot, even at the height of our "success" story and take care of our own needs. Would you do it? In this episode, Jeannette talks to Matthew Campbell Laurenza the co-founder and CEO of MCL Design. He is a sculptor, artist, designer, lecturer, and philanthropist. Matthew creates beautiful jewellery, which is worn by some of the biggest celebrities in the world. Pieces that people can display as art, as well as wear and use as a form of personal expression. He talks about how thinking outside the box has helped him quickly reach a global market and secure many famous clients. Including, Rhianna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Alicia Keys, to name a few. Matthew explains why despite his work being in such high demand he keeps the price of his pieces accessible, so ordinary people can wear them too. He also tells Jeannette about some of the artists that inspire him and shares details of some of his upcoming exhibitions and appearances. KEY TAKEAWAYS Matthew´s work is heavily influenced by living and working in various parts of the world. Travel really does expand the mind. He believes in using high-quality materials that will last and look beautiful for many years to come. The fact that consumers are becoming more socially conscientious means they want to be sure that the people who create what they buy are well-paid and cared for. How people feel about a designer or brand has a significant impact on whether they buy or not. Being clear and honest with your staff helps to ensure that they do an excellent job and work efficiently. Trust your gut, but don´t be afraid to pay for advice from people that you know have the right expertise. Don't be afraid to showcase what you can do, and your ideas. Dare to be different. Not being afraid to create something different has helped Matthew to secure big clients, like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Rosie, Taylor Swift, and Alicia Keys. BEST MOMENTS ‘So, when it's not in use as a piece of jewellery, it could be in use as a sculpture or a picture frame or a clock or something else. ´ ‘Luxury isn't necessarily about how much you pay for something.' ‘For me, everything is produced by hand, we don't use computers, we don't use automated systems.' ‘I think on the creative side, never be afraid to make something that you have a strong feeling about. It will turn out beautiful.' 'The idea that somebody actually went out and bought a piece and is enjoying it is equally as satisfying to me as seeing somebody super famous wearing it.' This is the perfect time to get focused on what YOU want to really achieve in your business, career, and life. It's never too late to be BRAVE and BOLD and unlock your inner BRILLIANCE. Fine Jewellery Designer Talk with Sonja DeklerkSonja Deklerk is the owner of a bespoke jewellery design studio in Edmonton Alberta and offers a curated collection of vintage fine jewellery. After studying Fine Art at MacEwan University, Sonja began her career in fine jewellery design working as an in-house designer for Adamas Goldsmiths and then Vandenbergs Jewellers. With over 22 years experience in the fine jewellery industry, Sonja is passionate about creating fine jewellery as uniquely beautiful as the individual for whom it is intended.Sonja completed the Applied Jewellery Programme through the Gemological Institute of America and is currently studying to become a Graduate Gemologist.Sonja is currently a member of the Canadian Jewellery Association and serves on the board of directors at the Leduc Arts Foundry. In addition to this, Sonja is the host of the podcast “More Than Gold” a podcast that navigates the joys and sorrows of this world while rejoicing in three very important truths:You are preciousYou are of valueYou are worth more than goldDescriptionJewellery designers design and make jewellery using a variety of materials, including gold, silver and precious stones. You could either produce designs for mass production, make jewellery in small numbers or create bespoke pieces commissioned by a client. If you work for a company, it is likely that other members of staff will make your designs.Job ForecastAs job openings and job seekers are projected to be at relatively similar levels over the 2019-2028 period, the balance between labor supply and demand seen in recent years is expected to continue over the projection period.Employment RequirementsYou don't need a degree or HND to be a jewellery designer – proven craft skills are more important – but those without a higher education qualification would usually need to undertake an apprenticeship or on-the-job training.Salary RangeSalaries vary widely according to whether you're employed or self-employed, how experienced, successful and well-established you are, and how actively and skilfully you promote your jewellery or business. It's possible to earn high salaries, but this can be difficult in the early part of your career and an additional income may be needed.Stressed about work? Gregory says, ‘Atlas Accessories got started because at 55 I decided I wanted to do something for myself'. It brings together his love of jewellery design, interest in meaning and symbolism and enjoyment of storytelling. In fact as soon as he'd got some of his designs made into ‘actual proper pieces of jewellery' people were asking him where they could buy the bracelets. The next stage was coming up with the name, Gregory says, ‘the whole concept behind the accessories is meaning and symbolism and the materials all have animal symbolism or stone symbolism… so I wanted the name of the company to embody that and the more I thought about it I had this dog called Atlas he was pretty much my best friend – the most important thing in my life and like in any culture they say if you call out the name of a divinity or an entity… it's calling on that benevolence or that spirit in some way or that energy'. Gregory talks about the importance of the leather and stones used in his jewellery and how they are great for storytelling. ‘By combining all these natural materials you can create symbolic meaning in the individual pieces and the reason that's important I think it's great for storytelling. Like when I meet someone, especially if I'm a little nervous, they usually ask about my bracelets and I can point to one and I can tell a little story that just tells a little bit about me and kind of how I view the world'. The interview was recorded on Wednesday 24th November at 12pm GMT.For more info click here

How to Turn your Passion into a Dream BusinessLove & RelationshipsMindsetEntrepreneurshipLeadershipFreedom and FulfillmentPassion and PurposeVictoria grew up in a sleepy coastal village in South Korea, surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty. One of her favorite activities was to watch the stunning sunsets from her home, wondering what lay beyond the horizon. She would ask her mother endless questions about the world outside of her small town. Her mother read her stories and taught her how to read, but her curiosity knew no bounds. In school, she excelled in reading, writing, and art. In 1972, her father decided to move his family to America, where he felt there would be greater opportunities to follow and live their dreams. Victoria's journey started as a penniless immigrant from South Korea to building a multi-million-dollar business. She dealt with major retail stores (Harrods London, to Neiman Marcus, as well as customers in Asia, the Middle East and Latin American. During her travels, she learned a lot about their cultures and their struggles. Victoria landed her own show on HSN in 1998 and performed as their on-air guest for 20 years. Jewellery Designer and star of TV shopping, Victoria Wieck is a household name in the US and the head of a $500m business empire. But it wasn't always that way. After immigrating as a child from South Korea, Victoria taught herself English before taking on several different jobs. By accident she fell into jewellery design, thinking it would be a stop gap before moving onto something else. But instead it was the start of a 30-year love affair with jewellery design. In 1998 she joined the Home Shopping Network in Florida, where she stayed for over 18 years. Victoria lives by the philosophy of creating to meet the needs of the customer, whilst focusing on quality, value, connection and legacy. It's a mindset that has served her well. Along with her belief that we all make our own luck and many small actions can create big impacts. Victoria was so generous and inspiring and shared so many amazing stories during our time together I've decided to split our chat into two episodes, so you get the entire unedited experience. Her work as a television producer and director working in national television took her around the world, was filled with glamour and showbiz and she worked with some of the industry's biggest names. But deep down, she knew something was not right, so she took the brave leap and left it all behind. She now has her own business, KristinM, doing exactly what she loves - designing and making jewellery, making people happy with her jewels and her work has even been worn by a member of the Royal Family. This discussion touches on the importance of self-belief, how you will never feel completely ready and running around London looking for a pink daffodil.

On this podcast we continue our chat with Yogic Nun and sacred Jewellery Designer, Sadhvi Shivjyoti. She is one of few Australian women to be ordained in the Dasnami order of Sanyas and while very much part of the world, her inner resolve will always be, as Shivjyoti says “crystal clear.”In this conversation (over two episodes), we deep dive into the nature of our 'inner guidance system' and harnessing the healing and manifesting powers of sacred malas. We both elaborate on listening to your 'inner guidance system' to understand your truth. Your inner guidance system is usually a feeling, a deep down knowing. You might call it a gut feeling or something you know in your heart of hearts. That's who you really are, and its nudges and wisdom are 100% reliable. It always has your best interests at heart. It knows the way through the fog and out into the sunshine... Shivjyoti explains there is a voice in each of us that is unburdened by fear and untouched by insecurity, that is absolute calm, that emanates love for oneself and others and this is our "true north." By following the cues of her inner guidance system Shivjyoti knew it was time to leave the yogic nun life in an Indian ashram and return to Melbourne, Australia to open her own yoga and meditation studio. She so eloquently explains how the natural interaction with her students was Source (God) calling her to design sacred jewellery that transmutes energetic healing for those whom are drawn to wear this.Today, Shivjyoti creates numerous malas with purpose and power to draw the soul of her students back to their purpose and Source. Now more than ever, aligned in her soul's purpose and within the COVID-19 global reset, Shivjyoti is sending these creations around the world each day. These healing malas support many to fulfill their dreams and utilise their own personal power for the good of all.Shivjyoti has an exclusive offer for you on all of her beautiful handmade malas. On this podcast we are joined by Yogic Nun and sacred Jewellery Designer, Sadhvi Shivjyoti. She is one of few Australian women to be ordained in the Dasnami order of Sanyas and while very much part of the world, her inner resolve will always be, as Shivjyoti says “crystal clear.”In this conversation (over two episodes), we deep dive into the nature of our soul's purpose and its many gifts. Shivjyoti shares parts of her journey to explain how each and every one of us will be in situations that don't nurture or feed our soul's purpose. She explains this is a catalyst to let go of what no longer serves you, whether they are thoughts, activities, or behaviours. We both share our life's stories of trusting that the heart knows what our soul's purpose is and it is embedded in the place of joy, fulfillment and meaning within us. We deep dive into the mental, emotional and spiritual saboteurs that hold you back as you stay in the conditioned mindset rather than step outside of yourself and observe your patterns. Tim and Jemimah are back with another episode of Level Up Podcast, today talking all about on of the biggest mistakes business owners make: not valuing their time enough. So why are coffee meeting so dangerous, when do you cancel them and when do you attend them? Jemimah and Tim are here to guide us through this minefield. Pick a good place Set a time frame Know your worth. Jemimah shares a powerful story with us about the minute she decided she would no longer do coffee meetings – and how its changed the way she operates in business, and Tim shares his thoughts on travelling to meet people, and considering your return on investment. Tim and Jemimah want to hear from you – what are your experiences with coffee meetings? Share the good, the bad, the terrible and the wonderful by getting in touch on the links below! TOP 5 LESSONS You have to pick a good place to have your café meeting – with good and healthy food. If you’re meeting people regularly, you need to look after your health. Set a time limit and stick to it. If the other person wants to run over that and does not respect your time, it says more about them than you. Set an agenda and play the game of “What’s the Deal?” – then you know why you’re meeting and that will change the conversation. Consider your return on investment and establish the expectations of the meeting upfront. You have to value your own time and worth even if others don’t. QUOTES “I’m a coffee bandit.” Jemimah “We do free things all the time, we have to value our time. Your giving so much away for free and buying your own coffee.” -Jemimah “There are two types of people. The Done For Yous and the DIY’ers.” - Tim “Sometimes a coffee meeting is necessary to build a relationship with someone.” -Jemimah “I’ve converted my coffee chats to Skype or Zoom. Having a clear agenda means I can bang out three meetings an hour rather than one every two hours.” -Tim “If the conversation is going really well, be cognizant of the time frame set. It goes a long way.” -Tim Connect with Jemimah and Tim on Facebook here: www.facebook.com/leveluppodcast Connect with Jemimah here: www.facebook.com/jemimahashleighau www.jemimahashleigh.com www.instagram.com/jemimahashleigh Connect with Tim here: www.facebook.com/winmoreclients www.winmoreclients.com.au www.instagram.com/winmoreclients
