In this week's bite-size bonus episode, Seven Figure Secrets, I'm talking about the topic of failure tolerance in business and how we can shift our perspective and response to failure.  Instead of viewing it as something negative, we can learn to recognise its significance in our personal and professional growth. Embracing failure can actually pave the way for greatness in the long run and build your resilience on the road to seven-figure success. Quotes:  "What do we gain from playing the game of catastrophe? And what would change if we could adjust our failure tolerance so that it doesn't feel like every time we face setbacks or experience failure, we are emotionally already in the place of losing everything?" "When we can change our response to failure, and learn to embrace it and know that actually, we are always far more secure than we think we are, it means we are free to take chances in business and tolerate risk without falling apart." In this week's episode, we welcomed Zoey O'Toole, an author, writer, and publishing coordinator at Children's Health Defense. Zoey will discuss the dangers of administering vaccines to children and what actions we can take to end the vaccine program.  You won't want to miss this important discussion that will expose the fraudulent pandemic industry and the true dangers of it.   Quotes: “What happened in COVID was inevitable and was planned in many ways. And not necessarily exactly how it went down. But the zeitgeist, the policies, all of that stuff had been worked out in advance and jumped on the moment we did have a pandemic to work with. And that pandemic industry is the most dangerous thing right now.” – Zoey O'Toole “We do not know the safety profile of any single vaccine, much less a whole schedule.” – Zoey O'Toole “Once you realize that if we stopped vaccinating today, we would not go back to those horrible days when you walk through a cemetery and you see so many kids and babies dying, we wouldn't go back to that. ” – Zoey O'Toole Key Takeaways: Covid was planned. Their plans do not exactly go how they planned, but the pandemic industry is now the most dangerous thing. If you understand how the science of vaccines works, you can see how this industry came to be and how it continues.  You won't take something if it can't ensure your safety. Does not matter if it is an injectable or a drug. You can learn a lot about protecting your children by reading the books available from the Children's Health Defense Organization.   Highlights/Timeline: [05:25] – Zoey O'Toole's background on children's healthcare and the science behind vaccines [15:03] – What is the origin of the book Turtles All The Way Down, and how did Zoey discover it? [20:22] – What are the biggest challenges humans face in today's world in connection with the dangers of vaccine science? [23:41] – Zoey tells the history of how vaccines are weaponized by the military  [32:56] – Dr. Stanton Hom shares a story of how he met families that resisted smallpox without vaccines and what he learned from that [37:28] – Zoey shares some of the highlights of the book that are the most valuable for people  [53:46] – Zoey discusses how the book addresses the myths that are foundational to our vaccine program [1:01:57]  Dr.Stanton Hom reads quotes from his vaccine workshops about poor sanitation [1:06:10] Seeing the book's success, what is Zoey's vision for the book's outcome? [1:10:19] Dr. Stanton Hom shares the difference between chiropractors and conventional medicine   Conclusion: In the words of Zoey O'Toole, it's a sharp reminder that the COVID pandemic was a precursor to the direction the government is moving in and just how dangerous the pandemic industry is. Vaccines are unsafe, and it is a fact that many people and children have had to learn this the hard way. The best way to avoid these dangers is to fully understand the history of the vaccine industry and the trajectory of it.  Knowledge is your armor, and the books published by the Children's Health Defense help shed a light on what the vaccine industry is really all about.    Resources: Learn more about Zoey O'Toole on: Twitter: https://twitter.com/ZoeyOToole Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/zoeyotoole/  Website: https://zoeyotoole.com/  Children's Health Defense: https://childrenshealthdefense.org/  Thinking Moms' Revolution: https://thinkingmomsrevolution.com/  Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Turtles-All-Way-Down-Vaccine/dp/9655981045    Learn more about Dr. Stanton Hom on: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stanhomdc Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drstantonhom Twitter: https://twitter.com/drstantonhom Website: https://futuregenerationssd.com/  Podcast Website: https://thefuturegen.com Stay Connected with the Future Generations Podcast: Instagram: @futuregenpodcast, @thefuturegensd and @drstantonhom_ Facebook: Future Generations Podcast and Future Generations | Clinic of Chiropractic Website: Future Generations | Clinic of Chiropractic If you would like to learn more about the truth behind the pandemic, please check out The End of C0V1D.  Click the link to sign up: https://theendofcovid.com/ref/352/    Get the Heart of Freedom III Replay here: https://hof3replay.thefuturegen.com/hof3recording Join the Future Generations Community here: https://community.thefuturegen.com   Remember to Rate, Review and Subscribe on iTunes and Follow us on Spotify Follow us on Instagram: @futuregenpodcast   San Diego area residents, take advantage of our special New Patient offer exclusively for podcast listeners here. Does patient charting feel like the bane of your existence? It doesn't have to feel that way.In this episode, Dr. Salyer will tell you how it's done. She shares a game-changing tool, TextExpander, that allows you to create personalized shortcuts for your charting needs. By using this app, you can streamline your communication, ensure consistency, and save valuable time. Dr. Salyer walks you through her pre-charting routine, during which she copies and pastes relevant information from patient forms and pre-populates recurring items. She also shares her approach to creating concise and actionable visit summaries, making it easy for patients to understand their next steps. With Dr. Salyer's tips and techniques, you'll learn how to optimize your charting process, improve patient experience, and reclaim your time.   Quotes: • "What we want to concentrate on is making your charting effective and easy, but also applicable for the patient on the other end, making it predictable so you have your own system, making it easy to retrieve information so that you know where to look." (3:43 | Dr. Lara)  • "What I'm working on is your efficiency as a practitioner to get your own nomenclature figured out with your charting and your snippets, your dot phrases, your chart parts. There's so many names for those little tiny building blocks to create a chart." (04:22 | Dr. Lara) • "So in addition to making your communication efficient and your charting efficient, text expanders allow you to be consistent, which is even more important." (16:27 | Dr. Lara) • "Do a little bit of time enlarging your text expander repertoire, making a naming system that works with your brain, and start playing, start using it. And you'll be surprised how easy it is to get your pre-charting done so that when the patient's in front of you, and for those that don't know, my first initial visit is one hour and my follow-ups are a half an hour. And I'm never late, like ever. I don't go over. I am always on time, and it's because I'm ready. And when the patients start talking, I know where to put it in the chart." Unlocking Success Through Fear: Embracing Failure for Personal Growth and Leadership Insights

The Essential 11

How does your fear of failure impact the choices you make in life? Decisions are really difficult to make, and we're going to get them wrong. However, the more you lean on the side of morality, ethics, and integrity, the more frequently you'll get it right. And with time, that influence grows. Failure contains knowledge. Once you recognize it and use that understanding repeatedly, your biggest issue will be your recklessness as you relentlessly pursue failure. Nick Lavery shares his life experiences, lessons, and advice to future leaders. Nick talks about himself growing up as a small, scared, insecure kid, being bullied, the foundation of his resiliency and mental toughness, the importance of coaches in his life, his decision to join the military, how his injury has affected his life, identifying his purpose in life, and the importance of self-awareness and self-education. Tune in as Nick shares many valuable lessons that will help young leaders thrive despite the adversities in life. Quotes: “What's the point of our being here right now, is a question that individuals frequently find difficult to respond to. What will we do with this gift of life that has been given to us? Although I could see it as I was doing it, I had to do it to see it. That enlightenment didn't come to me until I put it into action.” - Nick Lavery “When you have four limbs for 30 years of your life and then are reduced to three, most things change in all facets of your life. However, I only want to emphasize that what I do has not changed. The way, or ways, have changed. I continue to do the same things as I did when I had two legs. And because I go about doing things differently than other people, I've discovered more new things.” - Nick Lavery “Human beings are social creatures. We are made to want to be with people, which is one of the things that sets us apart from many other living things in our world. Therefore, it is very reasonable to have a fear of failure as well as a fear of being laughed at, embarrassed, and judged. It's normal. That is supposed to happen. It is there on purpose.” - Nick Lavery Takeaways: If you want it, you will make it. Just make sure the desire is strong enough. And the justification for your want must be crystal clear in your thoughts since it is what you will hold to when it gets extremely hot. It's about determining the best way to do things for yourself. It simply involves adjusting, adapting, learning, and trial and error. It's normal to fear failure. It's part of our survival instinct as human beings because emotional wellness is tied directly to physical health. However, failure has a powerful presence all its own. Pain serves as a catalyst for wisdom because making mistakes is where wisdom comes from. The failure contains the knowledge. Conclusion: There will be times when you'll want to pay focus on your fears, which seem to be ingrained in us on purpose. It serves as a defensive mechanism to keep us alive. Don't feel bad if you're afraid of something, though. It is intended to be there. But remember that the potential to improve comes from knowledge. You'll be amazed at what you can do if you equip yourself, train, study, make mistakes, and prepare to make decisions in your life that you thought you'll fail.

Have you been trying to change your mindset but finding it too difficult? Shifting our mindset in the traditional way is so difficult because such methods only focus on changing our conscious thoughts, whereas most of our thoughts and actions are controlled by a set of unconscious beliefs. Until we reframe those beliefs, we can't truly shift our mindset, we won't get what we desire, and we'll feel burned out, frustrated and ashamed in the process. On today's episode of The Embodied Baddie, Chrystal Rose walks us through the traditional methods of mindset shifting and offers an easier and more effective approach. She brings up common core beliefs that keep many of us stuck and shows us how we can overcome them in order to move forward towards our goals. Quotes• “What results do we get when we take actions like these? Burnout. We start to feel burned out, we start to feel unfulfilled, you end up in a position to just do this all over again.” (6:41 | Chrystal)• “It's not actually easy to shift that thought when you have years and years of thinking that way…we're always at the thought level. But we're forgetting our subconscious beliefs.” (9:04 | Chrystal) • “Our subconscious is responsible for 88 to 95% of the things that we do, think, things that are involuntary. Just so much of our programming is subconscious…there may be something deeper that's stopping you from changing your thoughts.” (9:39 | Chrystal Rose) • “If there's a belief underneath it, that's competing with that new thought, you're going to keep getting some of the same-old and it's like banging up against a brick wall. That belief is the brick wall.” (12:25 | Chrystal) • “Your beliefs actually lie in your body, not in your mind…The body is where our trauma is stored, it's where our wounds are stored. It's where all the pockets of energy are stored. The body holds the belief system.” (13:28 | Chrystal)Connect with Chrystal:http://chrystalrose.com/https://www.embodiedbaddie.com/https://www.instagram.com/xtalrose/To join our Embodied Baddie text community, text BADDIE to 704-270-6577Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

A social media post caught minister Rashawn Copeland's attention when he was in a dark, desperate place, and he felt the love of God in that moment, which ultimately saved him from a destructive pattern in his life. Now, he emphasizes the importance of being real and authentic with young people, sharing our testimony, and treasuring the message we've been entrusted with, because sharing that truth has the power to save lives.   Quotes “What changed everything for me was when I understood that I needed a new appetite for something far greater. And whatever has our attention has our affection. It changed everything for me to understand His love for me.” - Rashawn Copeland “We've been entrusted with this message that the world truly needs to hear, and we need to treasure it enough to tell those who don't know it.” - Rashawn Copeland “We're in a beautiful time where we can reach the multitudes and not only share the King, but help others to get to know the King. And it changes everything.” - Rashawn Copeland “When we are believers and we know what's real, when we know what's true, we need to speak, because someone's life literally depends on it.” - Rashawn Copeland   Guest's Links Rashawn Copeland's website Rashawn Copeland's Instagram Rashawn Copeland's Facebook Rashawn Copeland's Twitter No Turning Back: Escape Your Past, Empower Your Present, and Experience God's Best for You   Resources Mentioned in This Episode Bible Verse Daily on TikTokSoulja Boy Lil' Romeo Machine Gun Kelly   Connect with Sally Lloyd-Jones Jesus Storybook Bible Facebook Jesus Storybook Bible Instagram  Sally's website Sally's Facebook Sally's Instagram *Episode produced by Four Eyes Media*

When I started networking and connecting in the community, people want to refer locally and they want to get to know who they're referring.” - Brittnie Simon, (15:43) “If you have your cup and it's full of creative juices, and as you're doing things you kind of lose it, and if you don't have a way to refill it…then you're kind of at the end of your cup and you're not doing successful work. So being able to say, hey my cup's empty and build that communication there, then we can pivot and help give you opportunities to refill.” - Brittnie Simon, (20:26) “I think there's a misunderstanding of what consistency means [on social media], and I think that's the biggest challenge. Consistency isn't posting every day. Can you post weekly, on a regular basis consistently? Even if it's once or twice a week. You just determine your level of consistency and commit to it.” - Brittnie Simon, (29:25) “The other thing I've learned is that social media is a long game. Marketing is a long game. So trying to see return on investment one week after you started posting consistently is going to dishearten you…You're probably going to be putting effort in for about a year before you'll see those results.” - Brittnie Simon, (33:37)

The opinion you have of yourself can keep you stuck in destructive patterns. It's so important to consciously put yourself in healthy and positive environments, like in a recovery or group program, if you ever wish to break free from the power of addiction.     TAKEAWAYS: [2:00] Larry had this internal dialogue going through his head, “This is just who you are.” [3:20] Larry's wife found out about him acting out at least 4-5 times. He shares how it completely tore her about.  [6:55] Larry didn't realize all of his lies were causing his wife PTSD.  [7:25] If there was anything that Larry could change, it would be to tell the truth and to tell it faster.  [8:45] Jay was living in a fantasy world and he didn't realize it was destroying the people who loved and cared for him.  [13:05] Why did Jay go to a residential program? Wasn't group therapy enough?  [15:45] Jay was able to prove through actions that he was taking his recovery seriously.  [18:00] Larry's experience with Dr. Rob was life changing.  [22:15] Mentorship is a very important piece to recovery. Tonya also introduces the upcoming "Week of Calm" workshop and shares her experience of finding calm amidst the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tune in to learn more about the power of conscious consumption and how it can positively shape your life. What Tonya covers in this episode:  01:04 Week of Calm.  07:05 Conscious consumption. 09:22 Self-image and reference group. 15:11 Consuming sexy foods. 18:38 Letting go of consumption.   Quotes:   What have you consumed today? From the books you've read to the people you've hung out with to the music you've listened to, and even to the food that you've ingested.  I want you to think about the impact that those consumptions are having on your life. Are you consuming consciously? If it's meant to be it's up to me. If you want to change your life one of the quickest and fastest ways to do it is to start consciously consuming what you want to become. I put myself in certain environments that instantly shook me up to potential new perspectives and new ways of thinking and therefore fast-tracked my growth and my experience in those areas. Do you want to become that thing that you're consuming? Because if you don't, you need to stop consuming it. We're making it real with this episode!  It's when we step into our place as trustworthy role models and loving leaders that our relationship with our dog truly blossoms.   When we and our dogs are feeling safe, calm and happy – Kathy calls that ‘being in the green zone' – then we are able to connect, make better choices and interrupt the behavior spiral of stress that no one wants.   As Kathy emphasizes in this episode of Enlightened By Dogs, we need to move away from the desensitizing, counter-conditioning mindset of dog training that is so embedded in our culture and focus on the human-dog connection that leads to natural cooperation.   In this episode: Co-regulation is the key to strong relationships and helps to achieve a state of safety and connection. Reacting mindlessly to emotions can lead to being stuck in survival mode, so it is important to stay in the green zone. The Autonomic Nervous System plays an important role in creating trust. Quotes:   “What greater joy is there than walking with your dog, enjoying nature. Watching your dog sniff and roll and see the light in their eyes and their tongues lolling out!”   “We've got the capacity, the capability and the responsibility to keep us and our dogs in the green zone.”   “Understanding co-regulation is essential and focusing on a trust-building partnership lifestyle is a great way to develop  between humans and dogs.”   LOVE TO LEARN MORE?  Become a calm and confident Dog Mom with a cooperative, happy dog ... without obedience training, or relying on treats or arousing games, or corrections of any type.    Here are some next steps:   SUBSCRIBE to Kathy's YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/DancingHeartsDogAcademy/videos   LISTEN or READ Kathy's Podcast and Blog on her Website: https://dancingheartsdogacademy.com/   GET STARTED work with Kathy: https://dancinghearts.link/foundation   LET'S CONNECT on the socials for more partnership tips and advice: -Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/dancinghearts/ -Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kathykawalec/   LISTEN TO PODCASTS: Subscribe to the Enlightened By Dogs podcast in your favorite app! One way to solve this is to surround yourself with people that are great at that thing that frustrates you so I don't pull those shortcuts often and sacrifice the quality of work.” - Tim Cooper “When you are working on a project and skip a stage, you skip people. When you skip people at work, they feel skipped at work. Nobody wants to feel skipped over at work. People don't leave jobs because the strategies are off or the tech isn't as good as it is somewhere else, they leave jobs for emotional reasons. They leave when they feel skipped over, or the workplace is too confusing, or they don't know what their role is, or how to feel successful in the workplace.” - Tim Cooper  “Organizational Health is a condition not a destination. People always ask me what's a priority in terms of dealing with skin issues, and they usually start with diet. However, if you're a longtime listener, you know having healthy skin is NOT just about what you eat. One thing to check in the beginning of any health journey is blood sugar levels, but there are a variety of factors that go into regulating blood sugar. Today's guest dives into how she looks at balancing blood sugars as one of the foundational things when working with her clients, especially when dealing with hormonal imbalances. Erin Holt is an integrative and functional nutritionist with a feisty attitude and over a decade of clinical experience. She blends evidence-based practices, functional lab testing, energy medicine, boundary setting and humor for a unique and customized approach to women's health. She dives deep with women to get to the root cause of their health issues and finally get answers to their mystery symptoms. In addition to running multiple online nutrition and functional medicine programs, Erin is the founder of the Funk'tional Nutrition Academy, a 14 month practitioner training and mentorship helping nutrition pros level up with functional medicine methodologies. You can find Erin rabble-rousing on her weekly show, The Funk'tional Nutrition Podcast. What's one thing that has helped balance your blood sugars and has it helped your skin or other health condition? I'd love to hear about it in the comments! In this episode: What blood sugar balance means for skin + overall health Understanding insulin resistance, carbs + blood sugar Crazy impact stress can have on blood sugar balance Best labs for blood sugar (so you know what's going on) Pros + cons of a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) Erin's tips for better blood sugar balance Quotes "What's normal is that you eat food and you just feel less hungry. There really shouldn't be a dramatic change of your energy levels. If there is, that could indicate blood sugar dysregulation." [06:21] "One of the things that happens is that our adrenal hormones, cortisol being one of them, come in to bring glucose back up. So there's this real intimate connection and it's why, before I even help somebody balance their hormones, I want to make sure that their blood sugar is balanced so that cortisol is not being called on all of the time to do the job that food should really be doing." Feeling like you're constantly running on empty? You're not alone. Especially when you're an empath, like me, it's so easy to fall into the trap of allowing everyone access to your emotions and energy. But it doesn't actually serve anyone, least of all you, to give yourself emotionally all the time. In this episode, I'm talking about the importance of setting emotional and energetic boundaries and how to set them in a way that serves you best.   How to Get Snobby with Your Energy Evaluate where your emotional energy is going Decide you want more emotional energy for you Define what's yours and get snobby with your energy   Why We Need Energetic Boundaries Get snobby with who you allow into your energy field. Especially if you're an empath, it is almost engrained in us to give everyone access to our emotional space and our energy. Protecting your energetic field is so important. When we are always available to everyone, we don't end up serving anyone, least of all ourselves. What I want to encourage you to do is to set emotional and energetic boundaries. These boundaries are so important. You can choose to allow people to join you inside your boundaries, but having that emotional intimacy with everyone is exhausting and destructive.   How to Set Energetic Boundaries Being emotionally intimate with too many people has a negative impact on your health. You owe it to yourself to set healthy boundaries. Check in with yourself. Where is your emotional energy going? Would your emotional energy be better served by yourself? If you decide yes, it can, this is where I want you to get snobby. Define what is yours and what is not yours. What is not yours does not serve you – and that is okay. In fact, setting emotional boundaries can actually lead to healthier relationships. Where are you feeling your emotional energy? How can you draw your energy back to yourself and set a boundary? Let me know in the comments on the episode page what steps you're taking to reclaim your energy and how you feel about it.   In This Episode  Why we need to protect our energetic field [3:00] What it means to get snobby with your energy [7:00] How to create emotional boundaries for energetic regulation [11:00] The importance of solely holding space [19:00] Why you need to choose who to be emotionally intimate with [19:30] Why your health depends on you to take a boundary [25:00] What happens when you own yours and they own theirs [27:15] How emotional boundaries help you form healthier relationships [27:45]   Quotes “What's mine is mine, and what's yours is yours means that I can hold space and see that you're dealing with some thoughts, emotions, situations, and things. And that is not mine. This is mine over here. I have enough of my own.” [4:15] “Think of it this way. Even though you want to make the hurt go away for other people, that is not yours to do. You can hold space, and you can be there to help them work through it, but it is not your responsibility to feel it for them.” [10:13] “If you don't start setting at least some boundaries to protect that energetic field, it is going to continue to drain.” [12:03] “Get snobby with where you allow the intimacy. You're not meant to be intimate with everyone. You get to choose that. When you are choosing that emotional intimacy, that is when you're saying, ‘this is mine, and that is yours.' That is super powerful. It is not selfish. It will allow you to show up and serve in the way that you want to, versus showing up and serving in the way that you have to.” [19:54] “When you are taking what's yours, you take it. And I'll take what's mine. What are you doing? You are creating the most authentic version of yourself.” [24:07] “When you start plugging the hole, zipping up, taking that energetic field into your own hands and enhancing it, fostering it, and growing it to whatever level that you want to grow it… This is when you are going to have the magic happen.” [25:21] “When you can start owning what's yours, that's when the work begins. That's when you get to go deeper and curate what you want yours to look like. Then, it empowers those around you to own theirs.” [27:09]   Resources Mentioned Fit Dad Collective Check out the full episode page here Find Life Coaching for Women Physicians Online Follow Dr. Ali Novitsky on Facebook | Instagram | YouTube Subscribe to Life Coaching for Women Physicians on Apple Podcasts Podcast production by the team at Counterweight Creative   Related Episodes  Episode 151: Get Snobby With Your Time  Episode 109: Get Snobby with Your Extras  Episode 125: Brave Boundaries with Dr. Sasha Shillcutt

You may think that you're listening to your dog's wants and needs, but listening isn't always what you think it is.   We all want to do what's best for our dogs. However, sometimes, in the quest for a successful relationship, we can get stuck pursuing traditional training methods that just aren't working. The reality is, truly listening to your dog can look very different from how you might have imagined it.   When you open up your mind and your heart to your partnership's possibilities, that's when things can really start to change – especially if you have a reactive dog.   Steph Taleb and her dog, Pow, are a perfect example of how real listening can build a strong, thriving partnership. Steph joined the Brilliant Partners Academy (BPA) back in 2018, looking for a better way to calm and bond with Pow. Their partnership now shows how far you can come when you invest in deeply listening, and in openness. This is their story. It's a story that never gets old, it's one of my listener favorites, and mine too!   In this episode:   How Pow and Steph began their journey to a brilliant partnership What to do when traditional training doesn't work Why Steph turned to the Brilliant Partners Academy How to embrace real listening Why expectations and compliance could be holding your relationship back   QUOTES: “What it feels like to listen to her now is that there's a flow between us. It's a gentle flow of energy between us that is organic.”   “It was like a teacher-student relationship – now it's a partnership.”   “My idea of what perfect was, of having a perfect dog, of trying to make her perfect, doesn't even exist anymore.”   “Once I got rid of that pressure and that stress of compliance, then she wanted to come to me.”   “Open your mind. This episode features an interview with Marlon Sullivan, EVP and CHRO of Johnson Controls International. Johnson Controls is a world leader in smart buildings and creating safe, healthy, and sustainable spaces. Here, Marlon works in every part of human resources. He focuses on talent acquisition, retention, and leadership development while defining a high performance culture that includes diversity and inclusion. In this episode, Marlon defines a high performance culture, and what HR elements businesses should focus on. He also emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusion for true positive transformation.Quotes“What is critically important for how we define a high performance culture is leveraging that of diversity, equity, and inclusion. That includes all of those elements with a focus on three core components, talent, people, and culture.”“Having not formally been in human resources before, it was exciting, a little bit challenging in the beginning. Because I was bringing more of a business perspective. But what I also found is that was part of what helped to differentiate the offering. That  I could bring to the role that I was playing, but also how HR could play a differentiated role.”“Transformation is not only a change in culture. It requires a change in the skill sets, the competencies, and the pace of business. And as we continue to drive this differentiated offering in the marketplace, it's allowing us to be a leader in the industry, and hopefully not only transform ourselves, but also transform the industry itself.”“Now clearly we're not big tech, but we've been through a big technology transformation and that will continue. It's allowing us to welcome a different type of talent and team to the organization. And in particular, it allows us to make a difference. A part of what we talk about in terms of our employee value proposition is that of purpose. And so to be able to join a company where you can make a difference, not only for customers, but also for our communities, for the, for the climate, for the planet. And it inspires a lot of folks, and it's part of why I am here at Johnson Controls.”“Here at Johnson Controls, it's not an exaggeration to say that we're saving the planet. And when you consider that 40% of the world's emissions come from buildings, then obviously smart building technologies are a differentiator. And it's been a big win for us because job seekers want to work for a company that provides meaningful work beyond just traditional competitive compensation and benefits. So when we talk about the power of purpose here at Johnson Controls it, it means a lot. And we go out of our way to make sure that we're able to measure it.”“In order to be a highly effective HR leader that helps to really leverage human capital to drive outcomes, you have to understand the business, right? You have to understand the mission, the strategy, the operating model, the go to market channels, the value proposition. But you also have to understand the market within which we're competing.”“There's nothing better than the taste of success. And being able to see that success and however it's measured, whether it's customer satisfaction or positive impact on the planet with CO2 carbon reduction, whether it's financial metrics, operational metrics, or just thinking about the excitement of our people and the fact that they love to work here. I mean, all of them are successes and we go out of our way to celebrate that.”Time Stamps*[00:16] Marlon's current role*[01:15] The war for talent*[02:59] Johnson Controls' transformation*[06:21] Empowering meaningful work*[08:32] Understanding HR and business*[10:28] How to build an employee value proposition*[17:57] Defining goals and success*[21:32] Overcoming roadblocks*[24:23] Combining HR and AI*[26:43] What matters most to employees?LinksConnect with Marlon on LinkedInCheck out Johnson ControlsThanks to our friendsThis episode is brought to you by Firstup, the company that is redefining the digital employee experience to put people first and lift companies up by connecting every worker, everywhere with the information that helps them do their best work. In today's episode, we explore why hiring a general contractor is worth the investment. Shane Melanson explains that a general contractor can solve problems, prevent mistakes, schedule trades, get better pricing from suppliers, and coordinate and schedule everything, freeing up the developer's time to focus on finding deals and raising capital. The Code: A Guide to Health and Human Performance

“You have to be the advocate for yourself or for your family member, and ask the challenging questions and not just take the answer that is given to you,” explains host Dr. Andrew Fix. Today, Dr. Andrew shares why it is so important to advocate for yourself and your family members in regards to healthcare.    You know your body better than anyone else, so you need to be taking control over your own care and advocating for yourself and your loved ones in healthcare settings. Many providers will choose whatever method of care is easiest for them or best for the insurance company, rather than taking into consideration what is actually the best path for the patient's quality of life. If a doctor tells you that surgery is the only option or that you can no longer do the activities you enjoy due to your health condition, push back and find additional solutions or even get a second opinion from another provider. Don't just take their word for it and assume that your doctor is always right or is telling you the whole truth.    Be willing to advocate for yourself and ask the hard questions, even if that means challenging your doctor's advice. You know best what is best for your own body and for your physical, mental, and spiritual wellbeing.    Quotes • “What our lifestyle is can drastically impact how our body feels when we're talking about arthritis, because it's not just damage from use.” (7:00-7:09 | Dr. Andrew) • “Talk about the fact that how we eat, how we sleep, how we manage our stress, and how we manage our activity level have just as much, if not more, to do with our pain level than just having a meniscus tear.” (14:18-14:30 | Dr. Andrew) • “You have to be the advocate for yourself or for your family member, and ask the challenging questions and be willing to push back and not just take the answer that is given to you.” (16:37-16:50 | Dr. Andrew)  • “Nobody knows your body better than you do.” (18:03-18:06 | Dr. Andrew)    Links   Connect with Physio Room:  Website | https://physioroomco.com/  Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/physioroomco/ Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/physioroomco Andrew's Personal Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/dr.andrewfix/  Andrew's Personal Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/andrew.fix.9/   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

In the second part of our conversation with George Howell, you'll hear the story of how he influenced the global coffee market, increased quality standards and improved the lives of thousands of people. George Howell is a passionate coffee connoisseur. His career in coffee began in the 1970's, when he opened an art café in Harvard Square. Combining his deep love for roasting with his dedication to Mexican indigenous artists, George's cafés gained a devoted following. Now, George Howell Coffee shops are expanding across the East coast in the Boston area. As the Founder, George spends his time educating and traveling with his daughter Jenny in pursuit of the finest coffee beans in the world.  George Howell was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Specialty Coffee Association of America in 1996, for having raised specialty coffee quality standards to a new level through his Massachusetts-based company The Coffee Connection (1974 – 1994). He had grown The Coffee Connection into 24 company-owned stores in the Northeast and sold his high-quality popular coffee company to Starbucks in 1994.  In 1997, George worked on models of economic sustainability for coffee farmers under the United Nations and the International Coffee Organization. This led directly to the founding of the precedent-setting Cup Of Excellence program in 1999; it established the world's first international estate coffee competition and international internet auction that mightily contributed to breaking the commodity/price cycle for craftsman farmers in the specialty coffee industry. George Howell is a pioneer of the fair trade system. Working in partnership with quality producers, George's company pays top prices for green coffees, far exceeding Fair Trade pricing.  Giving the people what they want George Howell wishes we would all drink black coffee. But back in the 1980's, he realized that crowd pleasing drinks were a hit…and decided to help create one.  In this episode, George tells the real story behind the frappuccino: He didn't invent it. After visiting Seattle with a friend, he tried a version of the frappuccino and sought out to create a version of it for The Coffee Connection. He tasked his Manager and Marketer Andrew Frank with perfecting the formula, and Andrew did so much more than that - he coined the name frappuccino. It took off.  The idea exploded, turning their slow summers into record-breaking profit months. Customers loved the frozen caffeine drink and told their friends all about it. New versions of it popped up around the United States. Not only was America hooked on coffee - we were getting experimental with it. The quest for quality and the start of a competition Above all else, George considers himself an educator. After The Coffee Connection was acquired by Starbucks in 1994, he traveled Brazil with The International Coffee Relations Group to connect with coffee farmers.  He noticed that Brazil was not yet keeping up with Kenya, which was selling their beans at auction for double the usual fee. On a mission to help Brazilian farmers, he started test farms. They started simple, adding a new improvement each year. They designed tests to help prove that production improvements increase quality and profit.  Their tests were working when the program was suddenly halted. On a mission to prevent their research from being wasted, George brainstormed a solution.  He created the Cup Of Excellence program, encouraging a quality competition amongst coffee producers. He promised the winners ten cents above the current market value, and he suddenly had three hundred participants. The Brazilian market took off. Enjoy this fascinating second half of our conversation with George Howell. If you love coffee, you'll appreciate it even more knowing that every cup you drink was impacted by George himself. Quotes “What has sustained me is a need to educate.” “Our invention of the frappuccino was the name. It took off! It made our summers go from being the least income-producing to being equal to any other quarter…literally overnight.” “It was in 1988 when I went to Kenya and Costa Rica. I discovered how extraordinary, and how difficult it was to make great quality coffee.” “I was invited to be part of the International Coffee Relations Group, at the International Coffee Association. We met four times a year, talking about issues, relationships and quality. We talked about what could be done to promote those issues.” “I would travel and lecture - I would talk about the fast growth of specialty coffee, visiting one farm after the other. We created model farms where we had various farm owners where they would start from scratch. Each year they would add a quality improvement. We would see, was it more profitable at each level? We wanted to make the point that it was more profitable with each improvement we made.” “We communicated to farmers that if they won the competition, they would get a minimum of ten cents over the current market value. By promising that, we got three hundred farmers to participate.” “I had learned in ‘88 and ‘89 that Kenya was selling all their coffee at auction! And they were selling at about double everything else on the market. They went through a lot to get that quality.” Links mentioned in this episode: Visit the website for George Howell Coffee at https://georgehowellcoffee.com/  Follow George Howell Coffee on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/ghowellcoffee/?hl=en and on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GHowellCoffee/

Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. In today's episode, Jenn discusses perception vs. reality while using social media. Many people spend a lot of time on social media, but what is it really doing to our mental health? Focusing on others' highlight reels can leave us envious, jealous, and trapped in a cycle of comparison and competition. In this episode, Jenn provides some insightful information and helpful tools for how we can handle social media intake and other people's highlight reels to maintain a healthy relationship with it. Tune in today to learn how to change comparison into a healthy admiration and celebrate other's joy!IN THIS EPISODE:●   [6:23] How have we lost the sense of what's real in life? The overuse of autotune, facetune and filters. ●   [12:09] What is the balance between curated information and the over-sharer on social media?●   [16:05] With Twitch's recent suicide, what have we learned about the highlight reel and what may be going on behind the scenes? ●   [20:26] We don't know most of the people we are following; we only know the persona they are putting out there.●   [21:42] What do we see from celebrities on social media and their ads? ●   [31:08] What we see and assume based on someone's posts is likely an inaccurate depiction of their life. ●   [37:06] How can we manage how we feel when looking at social media? ●   [40:20] What happens in our minds when looking at social media and magazines?  ●   [42:10] How do we recognize that our brains are wired to connect dots?●   [47:16] How do we experience comparison and competition from what we see on social media? How is comparison similar to admiration?   ●   [54:10] How do envy and jealousy differ?●   [57:47] What does Freudenfreude  mean and why do we need more of it in our lives?●   [1:01:30] What is Self Righteousness and how does it play into our wellness journeys?●   [1:04:10] What must we do to avoid issues with social media?  KEY TAKEAWAYS:●   What we see on social media is inaccurate, but it intensely impacts our life and perception of reality. Our brain likes to connect dots and makes assumptions - which leads us to believe that what people show themselves doing on social media is what they are doing every day of their life. ●   Comparing ourselves to others is 100% not a choice. We are hardwired to compare, and we will always do it. All we can do is be aware of it and choose how we let it affect us. ●   Finding admiration and joy in uplifting others is something that we can all benefit from. Surrounding yourself with people trying to do better and be better will help you move away from comparison, jealousy, and envy and move you towards working on yourself to become the best version of yourself (which is not a version of anyone else).QUOTES: “What we see, we assume, is somebody's all the time. What we see somebody eat, we assume it's what they eat all the time. What somebody wears, what somebody is doing, any activity, like when somebody posts a video of themselves on a boat, we assume they are on a boat every day. There's something about those assumptions and filling in the blanks and filling in the dots; that's part of this challenge.” - Jenn Trepeck “Women need other women who think they are a big deal, no competition, no backhanded comments, no jealousy, not hate, just I love you, I support you, and there's no one on earth like you.” - Jenn Trepeck  “I just want everyone to think about and remember, especially as we look at wellness stuff, and especially as we make progress and progress through this year even, everybody is simply just doing the best they can in any given moment with the tools and knowledge, and information and resources that they have at the time.” - Jenn Trepeck  RESOURCES:Become A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramJenn's Digestive Enzymes for US ListenersJenn's Digestive Enzymes for Global Listeners

In this episode of the Psychedelic Medicine Podcast, Paul Thambi, MD joins to discuss insights on the optimal delivery of psychedelic experiences stemming from his recent trial on psilocybin therapy for cancer patients suffering from major depressive disorder. Dr. Thambi is a medical oncologist with nearly 20 years of experience treating patients in a private practice. He now serves as CMO Sunstone Therapies, a company focused on how to best deliver psychedelic therapies.  In this conversation, Dr. Thambi shares the details of the design of his recent study, which involved two preparatory sessions, a treatment session, and two integration sessions. He also discusses the efficiency of delivering psychedelic therapy to a group rather than to individuals, allowing the therapist to help more patients at once while still providing focused one-on-one guidance during the psychedelic experience. Additionally, Dr. Thambi discusses the importance of music and space design to provide an optimal state of mind going into the therapy and while under the influence of the psychedelic.  Dr. Thambi is happy to report very positive data from this initial trial, with both patients with active cancers and those with no current signs of disease showing great improvement in depression scores. He looks forward to continuing to work to better optimize the delivery of psychedelic therapies, not only for the patients but also for the therapists. Currently, he is pursuing a new “diad trial” of psychedelic therapy for cancer patients and a loved one which may have the potential to ease the suffering caused to a family system by these diseases.    In this episode: The design of Dr. Thambi's study of psychedelic therapy for cancer patients struggling with depression Group versus individual forms of psychedelic therapy Crafting an ideal setting for psychedelic therapy with music, artwork, etc. Changes in depression scores, anxiety, and pain amongst the participants in Dr. Thambi's trial Optimizing the experience for psychedelic therapists as well as patients Dr. Thambi's on-going “diad trial” for cancer patients and a loved one    Quotes: “What we were trying to do was create something that… could be used when it needed to be for a lot of people—something that was scalable. So something that was efficient, but still had compassion to it. And that's how we came up with the [study design].” [22:16] “80% of [participants] had their MADRS score cut in half or greater within one week of the treatment. And half of those people had what we called a sustained remission, which means a MADRS score of less than or equal to ten on each of the measurements we took, including the last one, which was done at week eight.” [23:54]   Links: Sunstone Therapist website “Psychedelics may ease cancer patients' depression, anxiety” article by Manish Agrawal California Institute for Integral Studies (CIIS) Certificate in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research Previous episode: Psychedelics and the Chemistry of Connection with Dr. Julie Holland Previous episode: How Setting Can Affect Psychedelic Journeys with Frederick Barrett, PhD Psychedelic Medicine Association Porangui

We all often struggle to ask for help. It's common to think that if we can't ask for help, it's a sign of weakness. But asking for help isn't a weakness. It's a strength. In this episode, I'm discussing what happens when we become aware that we need help and then ask for help.   How to Ask for Help Admit that you need help Be vulnerable enough to ask someone for help Accept the kindness offered   Get Vulnerable and Ask for Help It's difficult to ask for help. Putting yourself out there, admitting what you feel are weaknesses, and asking for help is such a vulnerable thing to do. But there is actually so much power in admitting you need a helping hand. If you're not sure where you might need to ask for help, I will encourage you to look for those areas of your life that feel a bit sticky. That feels difficult to you. On a day-to-day basis, where are the specific areas you can ask for a little bit more help? These are the areas where you could reach out and ask for help. Asking for help is not comfortable. But you have to ask yourself if you want to keep going the way you are, or whether you want to put the work in and change it. This often means asking for help.   What Happens When You Ask for Help When you ask someone else for help, you're not only helping yourself. You're helping show other people that it's okay to be vulnerable. That it's okay to open up and ask for help. In a way, it's giving the other person permission to be vulnerable. Asking someone for help lets them know that they can ask you for help if they need it.   Finally, I talk about how setting boundaries and saying how you would like others to treat you is also a way to ask for help. Ask people to treat you how you prefer to be treated. What feels uncomfortable when you ask for help? What's stopping you from doing it? If you are able to do it, how would your life be different? Let me know in the comments on the episode page.   In This Episode  Why so many people have difficulty asking for help [1:45] The importance of identifying what areas you need to ask for help [8:30] How asking for help helps other people, too [12:30] What happens when you ask for help [23:30] Why you need to decide how you will allow people to treat you [25:00]   Quotes “What's the fear of asking for help? The fear of asking for help is admitting that you can't do it all and then putting yourself out there. You have to be vulnerable to ask for help.” [5:35] “When you're asking for help, you're actually helping somebody, too.” [12:42] “Asking for help and having the vulnerability to say, ‘hey listen, we want this to go differently. We need help.' It's amazing. It's not comfortable. It's not comfortable evaluating what we're constantly doing and putting our ego aside to say, ‘this isn't working. How can we come together?' It is not comfortable because we have to put it out there and say, ‘something's off here. Do we want to keep going on this way, or do we want to put the work in and change it?” [19:04] “If we can think about help less about ‘I can't do this on my own' and instead, ‘wow, look at the opportunity that I have to better myself more so I can create more connection, adventure, freedom, and peace, all those things that I want in my life. I'm taking advantage of it.'” [21:53] “As we are discovering how we want to be treated, we need to ask for help in discovering that.” [26:51]   Resources Mentioned Check out the full episode page here Find Life Coaching for Women Physicians Online Follow Dr. Ali Novitsky on Facebook | Instagram  Subscribe to Life Coaching for Women Physicians on Apple Podcasts Podcast production by the team at Counterweight Creative   Related Episodes  Episode 63: Understanding The Enneagram with Dr. Sasha Shillcutt Episode 96: Dr. Shillcutt on Discovering Self-Love Through Boundaries Episode 125: Brave Boundaries with Dr. Sasha Shillcutt

This holiday season, we're talking to several people who know a few things about meaningful gifts, and what it means to them to provide a place of business in the community for people to find gifts and resources that lift others up, and what it's like to be in service to the people around us—especially at this time of the year.    Quotes “What we're about is encouraging faith, inspiring change, and sharing life, not just our personal lives, but the life that comes from knowing Jesus Christ.” - Donna McCullough, Dove Christian Supply  “We've been told over and over again by our community how important and how vital we [Logos Bookstore] are. People come in with all kinds of prayer requests and needs and we are there to love on them. And we count it as a privilege.” - Susan Lewis, Logos Bookstore “For me personally, as we own and operate these Christian bookstores, we are constantly on our knees before God depending upon Him to supply so that we can keep the stores alive and open with all the challenges that we've faced. So prayer is critical. And Sarah [Young] is communicating to her readers how important it is to have a powerful dependance in our God.” - Kevin Furgusen, Willamette Valley Christian Supply “Jesus Calling, it's the right words at the time that you need them. It's the Lord speaking to you, it just speaks to your heart and it comforts you. It soothes your soul.” - Vickie Achord, Olive Branch Bookstore “I think with all the craziness that's going on in the world around us, I think people are recognizing the importance of direction from God. And I think it's making people spend more time praying for their personal lives, for their decisions that they make. We understand the importance of prayer for the people that we care about.” - Dennis Lovvorn, New Covenant Bookstore    LinksJesus Calling Podcast Jesus Calling Jesus Always Jesus Listens   Dove Christian Supply Logos Bookstore Willamette Valley Christian Supply Olive Branch Bookstore New Covenant Bookstore _______________________  Connect with Jesus Calling Instagram Facebook Twitter Pinterest YouTube Jesus Calling Website   *Episode produced by Four Eyes Media*

It's integrating the facts in a picture of reality.” [13:17]“A life without truth is not a meaningful life.” [17:59]“Emotions are not separable from our physiology. The nervous system and immune system, [...] they're all one apparatus. When something happens in one area something happens in the other area as well.” [51:10“Our thoughts are in the lead, so whatever our thoughts tell us is the reality that we see, so essentially with our minds we create the world.” [1:08:39]“In this culture the norm is neither healthy nor is it natural, in fact, the norm is making us sick.” [1:55:23]“Giving and receiving and connection are values and people gain wealth by giving not by gathering and taking from others.” [2:21:06]Follow Gabor Mate:Website: https://drgabormate.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsRF06lSFA8zV9L8_x9jzIA Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/gabormatemd/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/drgabormate Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/drgabormate
