The Sermon on the Mount is a beautiful vision of what life in God’s kingdom is suppose to look like - a vision of beauty and the flourishing life. When it comes to prayer we're all beginners. In this teaching we slow down and consider Jesus' invitation to pray with simplicity and clarity. #boston #bostonchurch #inbostonasitisinheaven #church #wayofjesus
The Sermon on the Mount is a beautiful vision of what life in God’s kingdom is suppose to look like - a vision of beauty and the flourishing life. When it comes to prayer we're all beginners. In this teaching we slow down and consider Jesus invitation not only pray but to be silent. It's an invitation to commune with God in the quiet place. #boston #bostonchurch #inbostonasitisinheaven #church #wayofjesus
Jesus cautions and reminds us that it’s easy to do the right and good things for all the wrong reasons. There is a propensity in all of us to do the right things for all the wrong reasons. This is especially true in the church. This isn’t just at the giving level – in chapter 6 Jesus identifies 3 important practices he assumes we’ll do: give to the poor, pray, and fast. In short Jesus is teaching us how to not be religious
The Way of Jesus is marked by love for God and people. The Sermon on the Mount is an invitation to live into this way fully. The Sermon on the Mount is wisdom from God to live a life that flourishes.
Redemption City Church is built around the idea of practicing the way of Jesus, together, for the renewal of the city. We believe that to be an apprentice of Jesus is to order your life around three goals: be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did. Our dream is that as we live this way, our lives, our communities, and our city, will be transformed. Our prayer is as Jesus prayed, that God’s will would be done in Boston as it is in Heaven.

We live in a time of history when it's never been easier to listen to the best content in the world, and yet to do almost all of it with a complete lack of accountability. We listen to sermons as entertainment. We have access to the best and latest teachings regarding Jesus and Scripture. But the point of all of this is for you and me to become like Jesus by obeying Him. The Sermon on the Mount is a call to more information but transformation from the inside out.
The Sermon on the Mount is a beautiful vision of what life in God’s kingdom is suppose to look like. A vision of beauty and the flourishing life. According to Jesus, learning to love and pray for your enemies is one of the most sacred and flourishing things you can do to walk in the way of Jesus. This is holy. This is Christ being formed in you. Join us as Jesus speaks to us about loving and praying for our enemies.
The Sermon on the Mount is a beautiful vision of what life in God’s kingdom is suppose to look like - a vision of beauty and the flourishing life. But what happens when we are wronged? What do we do when our first instinct is to get even and exact our justice to wrongdoers? Join us as Jesus speaks to us about revenge and loving our enemies. #boston #bostonchurch #inbostonasitisinheaven #church #wayofjesus
Christianity declares that a first-century Jewish man, crucified between two common thieves, was actually God and rose from the dead. Did Jesus actually raise from the dead? If it’s true it changes everything If it’s false why bother? Join us for Church Online for this short teaching series called Raised and consider with us why the resurrection matters, and why to believe it.

We don’t know how much longer this pandemic, and the accompanying social unrest, will last. We were all hoping that by the beginning of 2021 life would start to return to normal. That, clearly, has yet to happen. So, here’s the question: How do we not just survive the coming season – but rather come out the other side of it with a new inner strength and fortitude, and above all, spiritual formation in the the person of Jesus? Is there a way to travel this road of pain together with joy? Join us as we pause to reflect this past year and begin looking forward with joy.
In Jesus’ time, making promises one could not keep was prevalent. Lack of integrity was seen as something acceptable and Jesus says lack of integrity has no place among God’s people. Jesus taught that if you say you are going to do something, do it and if you can’t say no. Live with integrity. Thats it. Simple, profound, but so challenging.
Attitudes about marriage in culture have been shifting in a downward trend and is disappearing fast. There are many reasons for this. One reason among many why people choose not to get married is divorce. Many come from divorced backgrounds. Others have parents in a bad marriage and many don’t want that life. Whatever the reasons are for not getting are not always for godly reasons but broken ones. What does all this mean for followers of Jesus? How do we interact with the realities of marriage in a broken and fallen world? How can we commend commitment in an age of divorce?
We live in a sex driven society. The church has responded to it in one of two ways: condemnation or accommodation. The problem with condemning or accommodating views regarding sex culture is that it assumes we are passive victims of desire, and in both views it places all blame for our struggle “out there” in the culture. Jesus’ words on from the sermon on the mount offers us a more nuanced view. All the warnings in the Bible about sex are designed around the idea that sex is good and the warnings are there to protect something that is powerful and fragile – it is not designed to suppress freedom.
One of the things Jesus teaches is that calling someone a fool/idiot is closely related to anger, in that it represents a destructive attack on one’s character and identity. Jesus warns us that the person who violates another person made in God’s image in this grievous way is liable to the hell of fire. Followers of Jesus are commanded to treat others with dignity and respect rather than giving anger a place in our human interactions, especially with other Christians. All devaluing of people has no place in the kingdom of God.. How do we respond to Jesus' ethic of honor in the midst of a shame and outrage culture?
So many Christians don’t know what to do with the Old Testament or how to apply it. Sadly, this results in having a low view of the OT and thats unfortunate because Jesus loved the OT and because in it we see the very character of God. If Jesus is who he claims to be, then his opinion should be very influential in shaping our own. Jesus had a high view of Scripture that included all of the Old Testament. He loved and obeyed it. Like Jesus, followers of His are called to the same care and ethic.
In this teaching we explore ways we can bring gospel influence in our cultural moment. As Christians we follow a Savior who suffered, so we must expect to suffer. How do we respond when we find ourselves in those difficult spaces? In this teaching, Jesus shows us the way of influence.
In Matthew 5:1-12 Jesus invites us to live into a way of living called The Beatitudes. He calls us into a life of true blessedness. The Beatitudes are an invitation from Jesus the prophet and sage into a way of being in the world that results in true human flourishing now and the age to come.
The Sermon on the Mount is more than a sermon, it’s an invitation to flourish. It’s a vision and a way of being inside the kingdom of God. It’s an invitation to take Jesus seriously.
2020 is coming to an end and who knows what 2021 will bring but I think we can all agree its been a bruising and difficult year. Perhaps this year, more than ever, you need no convincing that the world is not right. You can’t really long for the better world Jesus promises until you admit the messed up parts of this one. Advent is a chance to do this. The word “advent” means “the arrival.” In advent we wait for the arrival of Jesus not as a baby but as judge who will come to make all things new…the one who will restore our humanity. Advent is an invitation for you to slow down and reorient hope around Christ.

No matter what our differences are politically, we can all agree that this election cycle has been demoralizing, traumatizing, and blistering for most of the country. If you are angry, anxious, disappointed, confused, or disillusioned this teaching is for you.

Habakkuk is a short but powerful book about trusting God when it doesn’t make sense and how He speaks to our struggles and doubts. Habakkuk discusses the doubt and pain we feel when things go horribly wrong. But it ultimately explains why God allows us to experience pain, suffering and doubt. In short this is a book for those that struggle with God. And truth is we all struggle and need grace.

Advent season is about awakening the angst of waiting, longing, and yearning for Christ. In Advent Season, we re-live all of the longing and yearnings for the coming of the Messiah that our fathers and mothers in the faith experienced before us. We look back and remember the people of the Old Testament as they waited for the Savior that God had promised through the prophets.

One of the most difficult things to do is learning how to share the gospel in a post Christian culture. Where do we begin to talk about God in culture that has no framework for faith? In Acts 17, Paul models for us how to share Christ with those without any knowledge of the Bible.
The church is at its best when it prays. Every time the church prays in Acts, the impossible happens! Every major movement, every season of awakening and renewal has been characterized by intense, persistent corporate prayer. In this teaching we learn how God uses prayer in our lives to re-orient our fears and anxieties towards Him.
Easter is the culminating moment of the Christian calendar and the foundation of our faith. We believe the Resurrection of Jesus is the hope of the world and a foretaste of the world to come.
This new teaching focuses on the necessity of regular prayer as a central practice in the church― we'll examine what Jesus taught about prayer and how to prioritize prayer in our community life.
This is the final installment in our Exiles in Hope Vision Series. As we close out we learn as a church what suffering means, what it looks like, and how we can be joyful in suffering.
This is part 2 of our teaching and vision series through 1 Peter as we learn what it means to be a church for the city by practicing the way of mission.
