Closing our Vision Series, Pastor Tyler examines how we experience Christian community—not as a nice social gathering, but as the very means through which God transforms us and reaches our city. Drawing from Ephesians 4:14-16, we're confronted with a crucial tension: the danger of 'love without truth' that keeps us stuck in shallow relationships, versus 'truth without love' that crushes people with harshness. Both extremes lead to toxic shame and isolation. The sermon uses a vivid personal story of a broken leg to illustrate how genuine love sometimes requires temporary pain for long-term healing—just as resetting a bone hurts but prevents permanent damage. We're called to be a church that embodies both high invitation and high challenge, like Jesus who invited Matthew the tax collector to follow Him while also calling him to leave everything behind. The central insight is profound: we are hurt in community, but the only path to healing is through community. When we remain isolated or make our feelings the center of everything, we rob both ourselves and our city of the transformative witness that comes from a healthy body of Christ. This isn't just about our personal growth—it's about becoming a visible gospel that compels our neighbors, coworkers, and friends to want what we have in Jesus.
All of us are aiming our lives at something. We have a vision of the kinds of people we want to become over the course of our lives. But if we're honest, few of us know how to get there. We either falsely assume we turn into people who look like Jesus by accident, or we rely on big dramatic moments to define us. But change happens through teaching, community, practice, the power of the Holy Spirit over the long haul. In Ephesians 4, Paul reminds the church that everything around us is forming us and shaping us into who we are. The cultural waters we live in shape our desires, habits, and imaginations. Our practice, then, becomes counter-formation. We say “no” to the default patterns of our culture so that we can say “yes” to a better way of life. This type of discipleship looks less like dramatic sprinting and more like walking; slow, ordinary, and repetitive. But over time, our daily practices shape who we become. Slowly we're formed into the likeness of Jesus over the long haul. To walk faithfully and practically, we use a Rule of Life: a simple way of ordering daily, weekly, and lifestyle rhythms around practices that shape us into who we want to be.
Our greatest priority has never changed: Make disciples that make disciples. Join us as we discuss The Great Commission and how it's made known and visible at Believers Church. This is who we are and what we do.
Perhaps the scariest part of our Gather, Grow, Go ministry plan is the Go part. What does it mean to Go? Why should I Go? Can't I just stay where I am? These are all great questions and important ones to answer. If we don't answer them with a Gospel focus, then what is the point of Gathering and Growing? Listen in to the conclusion of our 2026 Vision Series!
It's no secret that America is experiencing a loneliness epidemic. Though most of us are surrounded by people, digitally connected, and relationally busy, few of us have actually experienced the deep and life-giving reality of authentic community. In Ephesians 4, Paul paints a picture of what Christian community can look like. Rather than giving us model, brand, or method, Paul describes community as a body. Just like a body, each person within a community has a part to play in supporting those around them. But also like a body, if one person is unhealthy and unwilling to change, the rest of the community can get infected. Lying, anger, stealing, foul language, and bitterness can cause damage to the communities we find ourselves in. Because of this, true community is a risk. But it's also the way in which we can grow more like Christ, accept his love, and share that love with those around us.
Join us as we go deeper into our mission than ever before. At BC, our mission is to help broken people become devoted followers of Jesus. We'd love for you to know what we mean and how it's practiced.
This week in the Peace by Piece series, we explore Ephesians 4:1, focusing on the crucial role of teaching in Christian formation. Many of us are shaped by ideas and images that subtly pull us away from God's truth. True transformation doesn't happen through quick fixes or isolated frameworks, but through a holistic, patient process of engaging with the essentials: Teaching, Community, Practice, Holy Spirit, and Moments & Marathons. This process requires confronting the lies we believe, renewing our minds with Scripture, and allowing God to form us piece by piece over time. As we grow in this grace, we begin to embody the peace of Christ in a chaotic world.

In this teaching, Pastor Mike Jurek continues the Vision Series by focusing on Core Value #4: There Should Be a Spirit-Filled, Life-Giving Church in Every Community. He points out that Core Values 1–3 take root when vibrant, Spirit-filled churches exist—churches that share the gospel, develop believers, and create communities where no one walks alone.Pastor Mike Jurek shows how the Jerusalem church enjoys an incredible season, but God's mission reaches far beyond one place. When they stay comfortable, the gospel still spreads because God moves them outward. We stand in that same moment now. When we pray, serve, give, invite, and embrace the role God has for each of us, the church becomes united and the mission becomes unstoppable.#GoodHopeChurch #PastorMikeJurek #VisionSeries #MissionFocused #SpiritFilledLiving #ReachTheOne #ChurchInEveryCommunitySermon Notes: https://link.goodhope.ag/vision25-6-mjGiving Information: https://goodhope.ag/givingSTAY CONNECTEDYoutube: https://youtube.com/GoodHopeChurchInstagram: http://instagram.com/goodhopemnFacebook: http://fb.com/goodhopemn
Today, Pastor Daniel Stevens leads us through Core Value #4: There Should Be a Spirit-Filled, Life-Giving Church in Every Community as part of the Vision Series. He explains how the early believers naturally build and multiply churches because they live out the first three core values—everyone hearing the gospel, believers taking responsibility for their growth, and Christians supporting one another.Pastor Daniel describes how the Jerusalem church experiences something incredible, yet God continues calling them outward. When they stay comfortable, circumstances push them back into mission. We face the same choice today: remain settled or carry God's heart for the one who needs Jesus. When we cheer others on, step into our calling, and partner together through prayer, serving, giving, and inviting, the mission moves forward and lives change.#GoodHopeChurch #PastorDanielStevens #VisionSeries #CoreValue4 #LifeGivingChurch #GoAfterTheOne #UnitedOnMissionSermon Notes: https://link.goodhope.ag/vision25-6-dsGiving Information: https://goodhope.ag/givingSTAY CONNECTEDYoutube: https://youtube.com/GoodHopeChurchInstagram: http://instagram.com/goodhopemnFacebook: http://fb.com/goodhopemn
In this message, Pastor Mike Stevens continues our What Are We Doing? Vision Series by teaching on Core Value #4: There Should Be a Spirit-Filled, Life-Giving Church in Every Community. He shows how Core Values 1–3—sharing the gospel, growing in faith, and walking together—only come to life when healthy, Spirit-led churches are planted and strengthened everywhere.Pastor Mike highlights the tension the early church feels in Jerusalem. They enjoy an amazing, thriving community, but God is calling them to go after the one. Even persecution pushes the mission forward and reminds them of God's heart to seek and save the lost. That same tension exists for us today. When each believer chooses to pray, serve, give, invite, and take action, we unite around the Great Commission and truly row together.#GoodHopeChurch #VisionSeries #CoreValues #SpiritFilledChurch #LeaveThe99 #OnMission #ReachUpRiseUpReachOutSermon Notes: https://link.goodhope.ag/vision25-6Giving Information: https://goodhope.ag/givingSTAY CONNECTEDYoutube: https://youtube.com/GoodHopeChurchInstagram: http://instagram.com/goodhopemnFacebook: http://fb.com/goodhopemn

We are taking a break from our Genesis series to do some family business work as a church. We are growing by God's grace and is a call for the church to lean in.
"If you want to experience the life of Jesus, you have to adopt the lifestyle of Jesus."John Mark concludes the Vision series with a pastoral word on hurry, unpacking how hurry does violence to the soul, erodes our capacity for transformation, and why following Jesus requires us to slow down and adopt his lifestyle, not just his teachings.Key Scripture Passages: Matthew 11v28–30; Luke 10v38–42This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. What does it mean to follow Jesus in a culture obsessed with self-fulfillment? John Mark explores Jesus' words in Luke 9, where He calls His disciples to “take up your cross and follow me.” Contrasting the way of self-denial at the heart of apprenticeship to Jesus with the modern pursuit of personal satisfaction, John Mark encourages us to embrace the cruciform life that leads to our deepest satisfaction in God.Key Scripture Passages: Luke 9v18-24; Galatians 5v16-24; Luke 9v57-62; Luke 14v25-33; Luke 18v18-23; Matthew 13v44This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. What role does the Holy Spirit play in our transformation? John Mark unpacks how true transformation always requires partnership with God's Spirit, encouraging us to rely on his presence and power to form us into the image of Jesus.Key Scripture Passages: 2 Corinthians 3v17–18; Exodus 34v29–35; John 15v5; Galatians 5v22–25This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. When we live in community, conflict is inevitable. But how do we handle conflict well? Alex Rettman—former Bridgetown pastor and now Lead Pastor of Saints' Hill Church in Newberg, OR—explores how conflict—when done in love—can be one of the primary ways we move from disillusionment to acceptance in our relationships, encouraging us use conflict to point one another back to Jesus.Key Scripture Passages: Philippians 2v1–4; Matthew 18v15–17; Romans 8v1This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. What does it really mean for a church to be a family? Bethany Allen unpacks a powerful vision of community not as an optional add-on to the Christian life, but as the very environment where transformation takes place. Bethany explores why community is both beautiful and broken, and how Jesus invites us to move through disappointment, unmet expectations, and past pain into a healing family of faith.Key Scripture Passages: Genesis 1v26–27; Genesis 3v6–13; Genesis 12v1–3; Luke 8v19–21; Galatians 3v26–29This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. Can we follow Jesus alone? John Mark explores the essential—but often overlooked—role of community in spiritual formation. Drawing from the life of Jesus and the early church, he shows how transformation doesn't happen in isolation but in the messy, beautiful tension between the ideal of community and its imperfect reality. Key Scripture Passages: Matthew 4v18-22; Matthew 9v9-13; Acts 2v42-47; Romans 12v15; 1 John 4v20This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. What do spiritual disciplines have to do with real transformation? John Mark double clicks on the concept of the practices of Jesus—also called the spiritual disciplines—and explains why they're not optional for those who want to become like Him. He shows us how transformation doesn't come through trying harder but through training wisely.Key Scripture Passages: 1 Corinthians 9v24-27; Acts 20v24; Galatians 5v7; 1 Timothy 6v12; 2 Timothy 4v6-8This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers.
