Send us Fan MailSuffering raises difficult questions about God, faith, and what it means to follow Jesus in a broken world. In this episode of Summer Series 2026, Tim Stewart welcomes theologian and author Dr. Kelly Kapic for an honest conversation about grief, pain, lament, and unanswered prayers.Drawing from years of academic research and personal experience caring for his wife through chronic illness, Dr. Kapic explores why Christians need to rediscover the language of lament, how we can acknowledge the realities of suffering without denying God's goodness, and why the Incarnation reveals a God who enters into our pain rather than remaining distant from it.Together, they discuss the importance of community in seasons of suffering, the relationship between forgiveness and healing, and how the Gospel offers not merely escape from this world, but participation in God's ongoing work of restoration. If you've wrestled with disappointment, loss, chronic pain, or questions about where God is in the midst of suffering, this episode offers thoughtful guidance, theological depth, and hope for the journey. In this episode:• Rediscovering lament as a faithful response to suffering• Holding together grief and God's goodness• Finding God's presence in pain through the Incarnation• Why honest faith makes room for sorrow and questions• The healing role of Christian community• Forgiveness as part of restoration and healing• Hope in the midst of grief, pain, and unanswered prayers
Have you ever prayed a prayer so many times you've lost count? Or felt like God's answer, when it finally came, made things worse not better? That's exactly where Habakkuk is in chapter one.In this message from Habakkuk 1:1–11, Jai unpacks the prophet's raw, unfiltered cry to God — and God's astonishing, unsettling response. The invitation is to bring your real prayers to God, messy and unpolished. Because God hears the rehearsal, not just the finished version. And when he answers, he works on a canvas far bigger than anything we can see.Part of the Living by Faith series through the book of Habakkuk.
In Matthew 15, Pastor Karl walks through two encounters that reveal how Jesus responds to very different kinds of people. The first is a confrontation with the Pharisees — religious leaders who had mastered looking clean on the outside while leaving their hearts completely untouched. Jesus exposes their hypocrisy and makes clear that the real issue is never what comes in from the outside, but what flows out from within. The second is a striking contrast: a Canaanite woman from Tyre and Sidon who comes to Jesus with nothing to offer — no credentials, no leverage, no religious standing. She simply cries out for mercy. When Jesus seems silent and even dismissive, she doesn't leave offended. She presses in, clings to grace, and receives what the Pharisees never could: a direct word of commendation from Jesus himself — "Great is your faith."God honors a transformed heart and exposes religious hypocrisy. And he blesses according to his grace — not our worthiness. This message is an invitation to stop trying to leverage God and start crying out for his mercy.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm
We don't talk about the God of suffering enough… On this episode of Mature Me, I sit down with my friend @samueljames.kelly, a husband and father of three, and the youth pastor of @fellowshipchurch. His life has been shaped by a deep conviction and valleys with God on top of a calling to lead the next generation. We talk about the spiritual openness we're seeing right now. A generation reaching the end of itself earlier than most, realizing what the world offers isn't enough and looking for something real. This is where revival begins. Not in hype, but in truth. In repentance. In understanding both the weight of sin and the depth of God's grace. We also talk about the harder parts of following Jesus. The silence. The grief. The prayers that don't get answered the way you hoped. And learning not to confuse God's silence with His absence. Some of the most important growth happens in the seasons we wish you could skip.Tune into the premiere tonight at 7:30PM on the Rich Wilkerson Jr. YouTube Channel

By Kirk Kester - When you earnestly pray to God during a trial, and it seems like He doesn't answer you. Was He listening. Did He care? God loves His people very much. That I know! But He doesn't always answer our prayers the way we want them to be answered. That's okay. We must have patience and endure our trial as
What unanswered prayers have actually become blessings in your life? In today's Rise Up reflection, Fr. Jonathan Meyer reflects on the reality that sometimes God says “no” because He sees something greater ahead. The apostles didn't want Jesus to leave. But because He ascended, the Holy Spirit came. Sometimes what we desperately want is not what we truly need. Looking back, many of us can now say: ➡️ “Thank God that relationship ended.” ➡️ “Thank God that door closed.” ➡️ “Thank God that plan changed.” God does not always give us what we want. But He always desires what is best for us. Today, take time to reflect:
Today we explore John 17:1-11, in which Jesus prays for his followers – then and now. He includes a prayer for unity among his followers - which seems not yet to have come to pass. © Kate Heichler, 2026. To receive Water Daily by email each morning, subscribe here. Does prayer actually change anything—or are we just talking into the void? In this episode of Talk'N Truth, Bryan Clark, Dan Whitney (aka Larry the Cable Guy), and Braden Pedersen take on one of the most personal and challenging questions in the Christian life: if God is truly sovereign, does prayer really move His hand? Drawing from Acts 12, where Peter is miraculously freed from jail, the conversation centers on the tension every believer eventually faces—why does God seem to answer some prayers and not others? Rather than offering easy answers, the group leans into the complexity, exploring what Scripture reveals and what still remains a mystery. Bryan brings a pastoral and deeply personal perspective, grounding the discussion in biblical truth while sharing how his own experiences have shaped a lifelong struggle with prayer. Dan and Braden add a candid, relatable lens—wrestling openly with doubt, expectations, and the challenge of continuing to pray when outcomes don't make sense. At the heart of the episode is a simple but difficult idea: faith isn't always about understanding—it's about choosing to believe. Even when prayers go unanswered. Even when the outcome isn't what we hoped. Even when it's hard to keep going. If you've ever struggled to pray, questioned whether it matters, or felt the weight of unanswered prayers, this honest and thoughtful conversation will meet you right where you are—and remind you that you're not alone in the tension.
Unanswered Prayers, Easter Candy, and Podcast Catch-Up with April On the podcast, Paul, Jeremy, and returning guest April banter about sampled music ("Darkest Light" by the Lafayette Afro Rock Band) and April's last era of secular rap (Master P's "Ice Cream Man"), then recap a busy Easter at church, Cadbury Creme Eggs, and expensive holiday candy. They debate drive-thru etiquette, share travel and hotel mishaps, discuss their dogs and kids' media preferences (including John Wick and Hallmark), and briefly touch on big-ticket events like the World Cup, WrestleMania, and a $5,000 Derby mint julep, plus TikTok trends like Scientology building "runs" and curiosity about the Vatican vault. The episode's main focus is wrestling with "unanswered prayers," using biblical examples (persistent widow, Hannah, Exodus, prison releases, John the Baptist, Jesus in Gethsemane, Paul's thorn) and emphasizing prayer as relationship, God's will, suffering, and practices like stillness, praying scripture, and worship music, with book recommendations from Pete Greig and Paul Miller. 00:00 Sampled Song Icebreaker 01:23 Master P Nostalgia 04:25 Easter Recap Candy Chaos 07:07 Drive Thru Thank You Debate 09:22 Milo and Dog Life Update 11:28 Ads Hallmark and Pricey Cards 13:52 Awkward TV With Teens 15:08 John Wick Talk 17:23 Kids and Screen Time 18:07 SNL Clips and Awkwardness 18:39 One Year After Flood 21:48 Dogs and Workouts 24:19 Kids Sports and Gym 25:42 World Cup Ticket Shock 27:16 Luxury Spending and Debt 29:08 Scientology TikTok Runs 31:05 Vatican Vault Mysteries 34:10 Area 51 and Secret Access 36:03 Vault Facts and Church Attic 37:24 From Jokes to Grief 39:02 What Unanswered Means 40:16 Widow and Hannah 43:39 Prayer Is Complicated 46:50 Thy Will Be Done 48:01 Suffering and Jesus 50:11 Living With Tension 54:21 Why Not You 58:41 Praying Intentionally 1:01:43 Silence and Solitude 1:03:33 Wrap Up

In Episode 110 of 2 Minute Disciple, host Nick Oyler leads a contemplative devotional through Matthew 7:7–11 — Jesus' beautiful and encouraging portrait of a Father who delights in giving good things to His children. Keep asking. Keep seeking. Keep knocking. These aren't one-time requests — they're a posture of persistent, trusting prayer.
Habakkuk ministered in a tense moment in Israel's history—when Babylon was rising and judgment was approaching—yet the heart of his book is deeply personal: moving from impatience and confusion to steadfast trust in God's timing. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef walks through Habakkuk's prayer in chapter 3 and points to three features that can reshape your own prayer life when answers feel delayed: Humility before God: Habakkuk begins by questioning God's silence (Habakkuk 1:2), but ends with reverent awe—learning to submit his perspective to God's sovereignty. Adoration of God: Instead of using prayer only to get solutions, Habakkuk models prayer as worship—asking to know God more and responding in obedience. Focus on God's work: Habakkuk pleads for mercy and awakening—not because the people deserve it, but because he longs for God's Name to be glorified. Where many sink into anger, depression, or prayerlessness when heaven feels quiet, Habakkuk turns delay into discipleship—asking, in effect, “Lord, what are You teaching me? How can I trust You more?” This devotional will help you pray through waiting seasons with faith, perspective, and joy that isn't dependent on circumstances. Prayer: Father, may I set my heart on You, the God of grace, wisdom, and sovereign power. I believe Your promises and will wait on You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Scripture Focus: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior” (Habakkuk 3:17-18). *This devotional adapted from Life-Changing Prayers by Michael Youssef © 2018. In 1 Samuel 1, we meet Hannah—whose name means “favored,” even though her heart felt anything but favored. Crushed by grief and unable to conceive, Hannah pours out a prayer so raw that Scripture says she prayed “in deep anguish… weeping bitterly” (1 Samuel 1:10). And from this prayer of brokenness, God would raise up a man who would shape history—Samuel, who would anoint the king in the lineage of the coming Savior. In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef highlights several powerful lessons from Hannah's prayer: God honors brokenhearted prayer—even when it's painful and messy. Silent prayers still reach heaven—Hannah's lips moved, but no sound came out, because she wasn't performing for anyone. True prayer seeks God, not attention—Hannah wasn't trying to impress, manipulate, or gain sympathy; she went straight to the only One who can do the impossible. If you're carrying heartbreak, unanswered longing, or grief too heavy for words, this devotional is a reminder that God hears “groaning too deep for words”—and He delights to meet you in weakness with His faithful love. Prayer: Thank You that You are close to the brokenhearted. I bring my brokenness to You today, knowing that in You alone am I made whole. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Scripture Focus: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). In this episode, I address two major questions: why God doesn't always answer our prayers, and whether it's fair that people are born into different religions. By understanding God as a Father and looking at both justice and mercy, these questions begin to make more sense.
What do you do when you pray—and nothing seems to change? In today's episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef walks through the prophet Habakkuk's struggle with unanswered prayer and unexpected answers. Instead of letting disappointment harden his heart, Habakkuk turned delay into discipleship—using the agony of waiting to grow in trust, strengthen faith, and align his will with God's. Dr. Youssef explains that God was going to answer Habakkuk—just not how or when the prophet expected. Revival would come, but first God would bring judgment to awaken a people who had ignored His warnings for generations. Even then, the Lord preserved a faithful remnant and anchored them with an unshakable promise: no matter how dark the times become, God remains in control of history and watches over His people. Tucked inside Habakkuk is a line that later shaped Paul's teaching on salvation and ignited the Reformation: “the righteous person will live by his faithfulness” (Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17). This devotional calls you to that same steady obedience—remaining faithful whether God says yes, no, or not yet. Prayer: Father, thank You that You are near even when Your answer is no or not yet. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen. Today's MY Devotional has been provided by Leading The Way. The voice you hear on the MY Devotional podcast is digitally generated with Dr. Youssef's permission. Why do so many of our prayers seem to go unanswered? John Mark tackles one of the most difficult tensions in the Christian life: how to square Jesus's bold promise of "ask anything in my name and I will do it" with the reality of unanswered prayer. He explores fifteen reasons our prayers might not be answered the way we expect and closes by introducing the ancient practice of lament as a way to meet God honestly in our pain.Key Scripture Passages: John 14v12-14; John 15v7, 16; John 16v23-24; Psalm 13; Psalm 66v18; Isaiah 58This podcast and its episodes are paid for by The Circle, our community of monthly givers. Fr. Mike reflects on the goodness and providence of God the Father, emphasizing how Jesus calls us to be shamelessly persistent in prayer. Fr. Mike also explains two difficult passages found in today's readings: what Jesus means when he tells the story of an unclean spirit who is cast out only to return, and what Jesus means when he says he comes not to bring peace but division. Today's readings are Luke 11-12 and Proverbs 26:7-9. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear.
