In 2004 Matt began his career with music and started playing house parties, no fancy DJ decks, just 2 DVD players, a CD collection of mixtapes he burnt from his PC with music downloaded from Limewire and the hifi speakers out of his parents’ living room. Influenced by the likes of Solardo, Jauz, Carl Cox, Will Sparks and Skrillex you can expect nothing to be a cookie cutter from Matt. He has since then played all over Australia and hosted multiple radio shows and podcasts working with Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk and a large catalogue of producers from all over the world. After over a decade of playing other people’s music in clubs and his shows, Matt decided it was time to release his own sound. With support from some big names on the scene or his early releases plus, already having ‘The Underground’ signed with an established label, things just keep looking up. Matt has a stack of releases due to be coming out; you can expect a new track from Matt every month. It won’t be long until you see Matt on main stages at the world’s biggest festivals. Spotlight Radio is broadcast at 6pm AEDT Mondays across the KissFM Australia network. Matt shines the light on the biggest in everything dance music from home and abroad.
EPISODE 40!!!! Here we are, the big 4-0. While most 40th celebrations consist of aunty Kim drinking to much Prosecco and screaming out Love Shack to the whole party after stealing the cover bands microphone I've elected to go a different route…. Up this week is Melbourne young gun/up and comer/one to watch, DYSO. I personally haven't seen DYSO play a set yet in person however, I have seen the 30 minutes of instagram stories from numerous punters filming him live in numerous club on a Saturday night including; • Infinite @ Infinite Lounge & Dance club, Cocktails and Techno @ DaHa, Levels @ Brown Alley, Dangerous Goods Unleashed @ The Timber Yard, Pockets @ Pockets Bar, Code @ Royal Melbourne Hotel, Tramp Fridays @ Tramp Bar & Magic @ Inflation. For a kid that is only 19 this is the kind of following you would expect to see from someone on a Main-stage at a premier festival. Not sure if it's his hard hitting early morning techno that brings true to the spirit of the Melbourne underground or his perfectly sculpted mullet, this guy has something special and I would expect you will be seeing a lot more of him in the years to come on the local scene and abroad. Don't miss a chance to experience the true sound of Melbourne in this episode. Check out the full interview with DYSO here; https://kissfm.com.au/guest-mix/dyso-interview-guestmix-spotlight-radio-with-matt-the-dj-mon-6pm Drop a comment during the mix for the track id. www.mattthedjreal.com Instagram @mattthedjreal
EPISODE 39! Kicking off 2021 with a bang with the start of a long list of guests coming up on the show. Most kids preferred to run in herds, shuffling through malls, hunting down cell phone accessories and gorging themselves on cocoa milkshakes. Over hundreds of days, through a process of natural selection, these impotent traits were discarded. A new human animal was born. His pack mentality was replaced with a new urge to think and act freely. The overwhelming desire to conform was traded for a willingness to stand alone. Alas, just as it has always been, the old world shunned the new and the boy was always destined to be Friendless. While his peers lived normal teenage lives, trading pogs and hiding their erections from their maths teacher, Friendless lived in the shadows, watching and learning. He found that the only way he could communicate with the world was through music. As the boy grew up he developed a soulful electronic tone that was unique, like whales having sex on Quaaludes. The world finally started to take notice. The Friendless legend is growing; it's only a matter of time until he touches you just the way you like Check out the full interview via this link: https://kissfm.com.au/kiss-fm-news/friendless-interview-guestmix-spotlight-radio-matt-the-dj-mon-6pm www.mattthedjreal.com

Raised in Northern Sydney, Gerald Lecaros (aka Soldat) is an aspiring DJ and producer within the Australian Drum & Bass scene. He specialises his style primarily within dancefloor and jump up areas through inspirations such as TC, Zinc and Friction. Whether it would be through atmospheric or vicious sound design, raw breaks or weighty basslines, Soldat brings a sound interest that will give quite an impression to fellow bassheads. DJ wise, his sets will bring drops of powerful synthesis, mixes of pure vibes and an entire selection that will cater to almost everyone's taste within the genre rolled into one. As time passes, Soldat continues to grow in his music selection and production where he will bring the danger as the chance arrives.

Episode 16 This week sees the UK based duo Duke & Jones stop by for an interview and huge guest mix jam packed full of originals and wall slapping goodness. Duke & Jones are ushering in a new wave of electronic forward-thinkers, & they're positioned to push a blend of hip-hop, trap, & house into exciting new directions. Among the UK's brightest new exports, the 24-year-old Manchester duo are creating a deep catalog of primal, earthy productions, all wrapped in a spine-tingling minimalist aesthetic – the duo's signature sound can best be described as "less is more." They emerged on the scene quickly, & it didn't take long to catch the attention of electronic music's biggest power players, like Marshmello, DJ Snake, & Diplo. The pair's meteoric rise found their fearless sonics landing on some of today's most elite labels, including Interscope, Deadbeats, & Circus Records. Duke & Jones' come up wasn't quiet — they caught the ears of dance music's top dogs and leading labels, and almost instantly had the entire industry abuzz from Billboard to talent buyers, all eager for what the pair have up next. Starting out strictly in the studio, building a brimming index of bold dance pieces, the gifted wunderkinds have too much material now to keep behind the console. Just a short trip from home, the young DJs live debut comes full circle to London's legendary Ministry of Sound in September 2018. Duke & Jones are bringing their exploratory, textured sound to the masses, but they won't be satisfied with just chart domination or club circuit acclaim — their aspirations aim much higher. Duke & Jones are dead set on blazing new trails and blurring old boundaries, and they're off to a staggering start already.
EPISODE 15 This week I'm glad to welcome in a fresh up and comer on the scene, MADISON. Hot on the Australian music scene, MADISON is quickly gaining traction as one of the countries most promising emerging DJs. With a solid run of shows across the country set for the first half of 2020, and her debut single due for release, MADISON is one to keep a firm eye on. If you came for a party, MADISON's high-energy set is just what you were looking for. Her guest mix is not to be taken lightly and will deliver everything you could want.
EPISODE 14 Oscar Jamo is a Sydney based DJ / Producer who has most commonly been seen as a versatile DJ for most of his career consistently playing events as well as bookings at venues such as Club 77, The World Bar, The Golden Sheaf & a Residency at Mrs Jones Bar / The Orient Hotel in The Rocks for many years. Though behind the scenes, he has been crafting his art in music production with a niche in house music. Through the years of DJing and producing under other projects such as Allphat & Oska his love of house music has grown, along with his catalogue of unreleased house tracks. A decision was made to release music, and his new project Oscar Jamo was born. Now he has at least 5 releases lined up for before the end of 2020, with promises of completing a new EP by the end of the year. A zealous upcoming tech house artist at that and the ambition shows in his guest mix. EPISODE 13 WHAT'S GOOD!? I keep saying how excited I am every week for the upcoming episode and…well I have to say it again. This week is going to be large with one of the countries hardest working producers. NEEDS NO SLEEP is here for episode 13. Having captured dance floors with releases on This Ain't Bristol, HEXAGON, Be Rich, ASTRX and Uprise, he's so far picked up support from the likes of Triple J, Dancing Astronaut, Subsoul and Data Transmission. EPISODE 12! Swinging it back around this week to a little something heavier with this weeks guest mix. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Rory Webb aka Nemean was introduced to heavy music at an early age. He wholeheartedly threw himself in the punk and metal scenes as a teen but entered the electronic music scene in his early 20s with DJing and production after never quite finding his passion with an analogue instrument in his hand. Now, influenced from the harder edges of music Nemean sets out to deliver face melting Neurofunk. So far he's signed to Kill Tomorrow and The Tech Collective with 4 EP's and various collaborations and singles with more on its way. Big plans are in his mind and rolling out as you read this as the unreleased music is plentiful. NEMEAN truly understands the unspoken ode to the modern sounds of drums and bass, with a blackened musical sensibility, Nemean forges his style with the hammer and tong of rhythm and bass. His sound is a melding of uneven bass-lines and melodic hooks characterised by his love for darker sounds. Guided by intricate percussion and snappy production, Nemean's songs are designed – down to the core – to make you move. Check out the full interview with Nemean and I below: https://kissfm.com.au/kiss-fm-news/nemean-guestmix-interview-spotlight-radio-mon-6pm
