Paul's mission was perhaps the most 'used' in Scriptures. His mission was very simple; to preach the Gospel. His mission sets the example for others to follow.
Per our Scripture references, consider Joshua's conquest mentioned in the first reference, and the practical application in the second. Our conquest is one of personal, spiritual endurance.
Monday (26 May) is a day of remembrance to those (for those) who sacrificed their lives in the service of this country--may we be forever grateful for their sacrifices! This message focuses on a Jewish Memorial Day, marked by the Feast of Purim. From our text, we will mark three remembrances from this occasion.
This book (Galatians) is about liberty; for the Jewish believers at the time were combating false teachings of Judaisers. We know that grace + works = legalism, and God--through Paul--teaches us that legalism frustrates His grace!
Happy Mother's Day! We are so thankful for Godly Mothers! The Bible gives us riches untold regarding Godly Mothers--in this message, we see the example of Rufus' Mother.
Apart from Jesus, in the history of the Jews, Moses was a venerated man! He was, by the grace of God, a great man of God! In these verses, he was 'demoted' from the house of Pharaoh, to the backside of the desert; but it was all by God's design and purpose. He has purpose for each of us!
No event in history compares with this; the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Only One could have moved that stone, and in this, we see several key details of significant importance.
We must remember that churches--those local bodies of believers--are not immortal. The church that was at Ephesus --like our much loved sister church in Lawton OK--provides valuable lessons for our churches. Let us examine some of these lessons today.
Moses was conflicted in contradiction. However, he was not diminished. Because God encouraged him; and in-turn, he encouraged God's people to be of good courage! We can learn to accept God's will--even in chaos!
"Do ye now believe"? This question serves as a reality check--even for Peter, and others, in the Scriptures. Well, rest assured--we CAN have confidence--in Christ Jesus!
Spring is here, which brings in a season full of renewal, birth, and new beginnings in the natural world. Spiritual Israel (Jew and Gentile alike) can relish in the spiritual spring-time as well! In this message, we will see three components that make up our spiritual spring.
"De Oppresso Liber", Liberating the oppressed. This is a motto of the Army Special Forces/The Green Beret. Example of such heroic action can be seen during D-Day, in Western Europe--the liberation of France. Man is a spiritual prisoner of sin and Satan; of whom the Lord liberates! In this message, we will see three facets of Christ liberating the oppressed, and an action plan for us.
Be it politics, or whatever, we do not have to look far for trouble--it is everywhere! It is part of our life experiences. Job should know; he lost everything! How do we deal with it? Our message gives us four observations.
Presidents' Day was initially founded to celebrate President George Washington's birthday. Since 1971, the day marks honoring all of our presidents. as well we should. Our presidents should meet biblically apprised criteria that we should use to assess them by.
Peter was the only believer known to walk on water--yet, even with his faith, he doubted. The crux of this message is to be aware of doubt. There will be seasons where we will battle doubt.
Is there a stranger story in Scripture? Balaam--a soothsayer (false prophet) was intent in doing his own thing, but the Lord intervened!
This passage serves as the basis for our theme this year! God's intention is for us to thrive!
It is fitting for us to consider and preach on Jesus' birth this time of year. The text of our message today is the first gospel of the Lord Jesus, written by Moses. Jesus referred to Moses writing of Him.
Our society, as reflected by the murder of a healthcare CEO, conveys that people are actually pleased with murder! These actions should appall us! Our text of the message today shows us three reasons why this attitude should (rightly) be condemned.
It is the most wonderful time of the year, but not for everyone. The American Psychological Association (APA) notes that there is an approximately 38 percent increase for short-term depression in people between the ages of 15-44 during this time of year. In our text, we see it is clear that this prophet of God (Elijah) is depressed (yes, even God's people can become depressed). Note how God deals with Elijah regarding his depression.
Thanksgiving - A time where we should be giving thanks to God. We should be a thankful people! As believers, we should model our lives with Jesus as our example.
There will be some traveling ahead for us! Traveling is a wonderful thing. The places God has for us is so special. And, we will not--as even now--be alone. Jesus will always be with us!
Scriptural practice in mission work has been eroding over the years (our observance as a local church; this message is not designed to be critical in any way). Does the (local) church conduct a submissive assessment in considering a missionary's effectiveness? We are held accountable to do so.
The "call of duty" has existed for many years. In our text today, we see Joab, the commanding general under David, is compelling the soldiers to answer to the call of duty. It IS right and proper to honor veterans...those who respond to this call of duty.
Pastor Kimberlin compares the Republican and Democratic Party Platforms against Scripture. Will you vote for someone who will act contrary to God's Word? We are accountable!
Part 2 of this series - Does the church consider her stewardship accountability before the Lord? Stewardship is a requirement and a responsibility!
Many today consider mission work as "willing hands to support the ministry", resulting in an erosion of biblical missions practice. Although this work may be for good causes, it is not true, biblical mission work. When it comes to true mission work, we need to do things God's way.
Nothing is more perplexing to the believer than seeing the evildoers prospering. Yet, David knew how to deal with evildoers; and ultimately, they will not win!
How can we contemplate love made perfect-- If it were not for God, there would be no love. It took the love of God, and the work of His Son, to manifest this love toward us.
God's word reveals God's love--in different applications, and different levels. His love in general, for all mankind- for His people -Israel- as a nation- and then a more specific love for His elect. How is it that we have obtained such love--

It is the local church -assembly of God's people- in which we glorify and exalt God, with an attitude of gratitude- We must be on guard, that the Lord may not remove His candlestick- thus, we need to be a church 'subject unto Christ'. We do this because we love Him, because He first loved us-

There are many -phrases---or worse--that the world has for those who merely try to live for the Lord. This is another beatitude that addresses the conduct of men. Consider, are we persecuted...for righteousness' sake-- Do we live a Christ-honoring, righteous lifestyle, regardless of persecution--
