"If the virgin birth really happened, why did Jesus' own family think He was out of His mind?" That's the sharp question we received after releasing two episodes on the historical and theological credibility of the virgin birth. And honestly, it's a great one. In this episode of All Rise, Abdu Murray and Derek Caldwell explore the surprising—and often misunderstood—passages in Mark 3:21 and John 7:5, which seem to suggest that Jesus' own family, possibly even Mary, doubted Him or thought He had gone too far. Does that undermine the credibility of the virgin birth? Or is something deeper going on? What we discovered in the biblical text was far more intriguing than expected—revealing layers of historical, cultural, and biblical insight that actually strengthen the case for who Jesus really is. Whether you're questioning, curious, or confident in your faith, this episode brings clarity to one of the most human—and most profound—questions in the Gospels. In this message, we dive into the foundational truths of the Christian faith, exploring the Apostles' Creed and its powerful declaration that “I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.” Learn what Scripture teaches about the Trinity and discover how the doctrine of God as Father shapes our identity, prayer, and daily lives.#Lifeblood #GodTheFather #christianfaith #trinity #childofgod #faithfuel #identityinchrist #bibleteaching #christianliving #spiritualgrowth #kingdomfamily NOTES: We must continually revisit the core truths of our faith, for they are the lifeblood that nourishes our relationship with God. - TozerKnowing what we believe is how we suit up for battle. (Ephesians 6) We can't afford silence. (Romans 10)Belonging to the body of Christ requires belief in specific content. (Romans 10) What do you know about what Christians actually believe?Creeds are not replacements for Scripture—they're faithful reflections of it. They help guard the gospel, articulate truth, and pass the faith from generation to generation.“Theologically hollow congregations and pastors may like to think they will bequeath a gospel legacy to the next generation, but the truth is we only pass on what is our passion. New converts and new kids won't think and live and love like mature Christians, let alone be able to articulate the Christian story, if our beliefs rest in a statement of faith on the website, and not in our hearts.” - DeYoungI believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth,And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead.He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (universal) church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.I BELIEVEThe Christian understanding of faith includes both knowledge and conviction—the head and the heart working together.Faith involves thinking, learning, and engaging our minds.Conviction is what happens when the truth we know becomes truth we trust. The object of our faith matters more than the strength of our faith. It's not the strength of your faith that saves you. It's the strength of your Savior.I BELIEVE IN GODChristians believe in the eternal, triune God. One God in three persons. The Trinity 1. There is only one God. 2. The Father is God. 3. The Son is God. 4. The Holy Spirit is God. 5. The Father is not the Son. 6. The Son is not the Holy Spirit. 7. The Holy Spirit is not the Father. There are three persons in the one true and living God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are the same in essence, equal in power and glory.1. There is only one God. (Deut 6:4, Isa 43:10, Mark 12:29)2. The Father, Son, and Spirit are distinct persons. (Luke 3:22)3. Each person is fully God. (1 Cor 8:6, 1 Pet 1:3, John 1:1, Titus 2:13, Heb 1:8, Acts 5:3-4)I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earthWe are children of God, not by right of human birth but by the miracle of divine adoption. John 1:12-13 But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of the will of man, but of God.If you want to judge how well a person understands Christianity, find out how much he makes of the thought of being God's child, and having God as his Father. If this is not the thought that prompts and controls his worship and prayers and his whole outlook on life, it means that he does not understand Christianity very well at all. For everything that Christ taught, everything that makes the New Testament new, and better than the Old, everything that is distinctively Christian as opposed to merely Jewish, is summed up in the knowledge of the Fatherhood of God. “Father” is the Christian name for God. – J.I. Packer2 Corinthians 5:19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. Romans 8:15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”Behold, ponder, contemplate—be astonished, smitten and speechless “at the great love the Father has lavished on us. (1 John 3:1)How can you apply the truth that God is your Father?1. Pray like a child, not a performer.2. Love the family you've been adopted into.3. Start your day with the Trinity.

“What is truth?” Pontius Pilate scoffed at Jesus (Jn 18:38), and that's how we think about matters today in our culture—subjectively: my truth, your truth, etc. To make the argument that there is a knowable Truth (with a capital T) that is written in the world and in our bones, theologians Deborah Savage and Robert Fastiggi examine a selection of autobiographical accounts of ‘lived experience.' They take a number of personal essays written by those who have erred from the path of Catholic social teaching and sexual morality—in the dark forest of the world, to borrow from Dante—and their subsequent disappointments and suffering. They examine these narratives through the anthropology of John Paul II and the authority of the physical and social sciences, including medical doctors. So, there is Good News for all of us: if we find ourselves lost and unhappy in our errant meanderings, the Church can bring us home. The Fourth Sunday of Lent, The Veneration of St John Cassian, is the subject of this week's episode. Jim reflects on the core beliefs which come even before details about The Trinity, The Incarnation, The Virgin Birth, The Death, Resurrection & Ascension of this incarnate God, the singularity of the church which His apostles established, or the succession of bishops who have preserved the divine revelation which was given to those apostles by the incarnate God.There is someone we have to acknowledge we are, a reality we have to admit is the one in which we live, before we can even begin the lifelong journey of becoming a Christian.Reference materials for this episode: Episodes on St John - https://www.buzzsprout.com/1443073/episodes/10364782 - https://www.buzzsprout.com/1443073/episodes/14611115Scripture citations for this episode:Matthew 5:17-20 - Torah will not pass awayMatthew 11:25-30 - easy burden, light yokeJohn 10:7-18 - the good shepherd brings abundant lifeRomans 7 - our confusion about our own behaviorPhilippians 3:6 - blameless under TorahThe Christian Saints Podcast is a joint production of Generative sounds & Paradosis Pavilion with oversight from Fr Symeon KeesParadosis Pavilion - https://youtube.com/@paradosispavilion9555https://www.instagram.com/christiansaintspodcasthttps://twitter.com/podcast_saintshttps://www.facebook.com/christiansaintspodcasthttps://www.threads.net/@christiansaintspodcastIconographic images used by kind permission of Nicholas Papas, who controls distribution rights of these imagesPrints of all of Nick's work can be found at Saint Demetrius Press - http://www.saintdemetriuspress.comAll music in these episodes is a production of Generative Soundshttps://generativesoundsjjm.bandcamp.comDistribution rights of this episode & all music contained in it are controlled by Generative SoundsCopyright 2021 - 2023
As we enter the Easter season, listen as Pastor Newland begins a series of messages on fundamental doctrinal truths related to Easter, beginning with the Virgin Birth of Jesus.
This week on Ask the Pastor, Pastor J.D. continues his series called, "Why Does It Matter?" by diving into the significance of the virgin birth of Jesus.
The importance of virgin birth of the incarnate Jesus Christ cannot be overstated. If Jesus was not born of a virgin, then Jesus was a man like you or me. He had a sin nature like you or me. If Jesus was not born of a virgin, then he could not be the Son of God. He could not be sinless. He could not be a substitutionary sacrifice. And He could not be the Savior of mankind. The virgin birth of Jesus is often the first truth about Jesus to be attacked. The virgin birth fulfilled prophecy, declares Jesus' purity, and reveals God's purposes.

Some criticize the claim of the Messiah's virgin birth. In fact, there's no shortage of those who criticize the legitimacy of Yeshua being the prophesied Messiah in the TANAKH. What we have, however, are three proofs that legitimize it.

The Announcement of the Virgin Birth Part 5 Luke 2:8–20
The date of this recording was Christmas Eve, 12-24-2021. I'm repeating this episode now because although not particularly "gnostic," it does shed light on the birth of Jesus Christ. And I know a lot of people reject Jesus as the Christ. They don't even like the idea of there being a Christ. But I have to remind you that the Christ is a, we could call it in our modern terminology, a correcting algorithm for our human selves, for our human DNA, even. And it is thought, primarily by me, and I'm sure other people probably share this point of view, that by saying that Jesus is both fully human and fully God, what was meant by that is that Jesus shares our human DNA. Yet the DNA of Jesus is perfect. It is as designed. Jesus was a perfectly constructed human. There was no epigenetic changes, no degradation of his DNA and its various functions. He didn't inherit any congenital problems from his parental lineage. And being fully God means that the perfection of the Pleroma, the perfection of the Fullness of God, filled this body, this DNA, and the Self of Jesus. We all have the same one Self. We all share the same Self that comes from the Fullness of God. But for most of us, well, for all of us really, our Self is hidden. It's covered over by this shroud of memes that we have acquired in this lifetime and in prior lifetimes that come down to us from our human societies, from various personal problems and misunderstandings and hang-ups. Particularly, we have been under attack by the Demiurge and the archons of the Demiurge. The Demiurge does not care for humans. Humans challenge the authority of the Demiurge, because we claim to be from the Fullness of God. And the Demiurge, of course, believes that he is the Fullness of God. He does not acknowledge the God Above All Gods or the Pleroma above, because he has a case of amnesia at the moment. Eventually, everything will be redeemed by the Christ. That was the purpose of the Christ. And the Christ pre-exists Jesus of Nazareth. The Christ is not exactly the same as Jesus. The Christ is a supernatural power that lives up there in the Pleroma. The Christ is the Fullness of God plus the willpower of the Son with the blessing of the Father. So the Christ embodies the entire lineage of the Holy Spirit without interruption. And the Christ was sent down to this Earth, presumably in the body of Jesus of Nazareth, in order to implant this correction, this correcting algorithm, onto us humans who have fallen away from the perfection of our original design, either spiritually, because of the archonic attacks and the memes that we hold, or physically, because of our human DNA that is shared with the body of the Jesus. And that's why Jesus had to have a virgin birth, because Mary was the vessel. However, the Fullness of God was the parental unit that gave this perfect human to the Earth for correction and assistance. Earlier in the year, I heard an interview with a very interesting woman named Marguerite Mary Rigoglioso, and she has written a book called The Mystery Tradition of Miraculous Conception, Mary and the Lineage of Virgin Births. And what Marguerite does in this book is show that there was a tradition of virgin birth—that actually Mary was not the first and only woman on Earth to give birth to a baby with no male semen involved. And in this book of hers, she goes through various other religious writings from various traditions and shows how such a thing is possible. This idea of virgin birth—there's actually a scientific name for it. It's called parthenogenesis. And it is not a fairy tale. As it turns out, creatures on Earth can have parthenogenesis. Animals in zoos have been observed to become pregnant and have babies without any male creature around. So there is such a thing as parthenogenesis, and this is what we're talking about when we're talking about Mary and Jesus. Now, since it's Christmas, I thought I would just go ahead and read to you out of one of the ...
In this teaching Aaron talks about the nature of perception and reality and examines The Christmas Story as something that happens IN us rather than something that happens TO us.

"With God, all things are possible. ALL THINGS!""Even an event like THE VIRGIN BIRTH.Some 2,000 years ago, an angel was sent by God to the tiny town of Nazareth in the Galilee area. The area was small, the inhabitants few, and a popular saying of the day was:CAN ANY GOOD THING COME OUT OF NAZARETH?""Perhaps not before, but after the visit by the angel Gabriel to an unknown Mary, from Nazareth would come the Savior of the world.Mary the Virgin was pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The angel Gabriel said to her:GREETINGS, YOU WHO ARE HIGHLY FAVORED! THE LORD IS WITH YOU.""Gabriel went on to say:DO NOT BE AFRAID, MARY. YOU HAVE FOUND FAVOR WITH GOD. YOUWILL BE WITH CHILD AND GIVE BIRTH TO A SON. YOU ARE TO GIVE HIM THE NAME JESUS." "HE WILL BE GREAT AND WILL BE CALLED THE SON OF THE MOST HIGH.""THE LORD GOD WILL GIVE HIM THE THRONE OF HIS FATHER DAVID AND HE WILL REIGN OVER THE HOUSE OF JACOB FOREVER. HIS KINGDOM WILL NEVER END!And, rightly so, Mary was troubled and she said to the angel:“How will this come about since I am a virgin?”To which the angel responded:""THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL COME UPON YOU AND THE POWER OF THE MOST HIGH WILL OVERSHADOW YOU.""So the Holy One to be born would be called the SON OF GOD.""The natural man scoffs at angels but the spiritual man knows that with God all things are possible, including angels.Mary, now with child, the Holy Ghost having come upon her, went to the home of Zechariah and Elizabeth, relatives, and when she arrived, Elizabeth knew of this Immaculate Conception and Elizabeth said to Mary:BLESSED ARE YOU AMONG WOMEN, AND BLESSED IS THE CHILD YOU WILL BEAR!Elizabeth knew that Mary would be the mother of her Lord and ours as well. So, the world was about to change because of that event in Nazareth. Jesus ofNazareth would soon be born in Bethlehem of Judea and this Nazarene, this SON OFTHE MOST HIGH would soon be known as THE SAVIOR, the Prince of Peace, the Christ of Glory. When Elizabeth had finished, Mary began her very own song of praise:MY SOUL MAGNIFIES THE LORDAND MY SPIRIT REJOICES IN GOD MY SAVIOR!FOR HE HAS BEEN MINDFUL OF THE HUMBLE STATE OF HIS SERVANT. FROM NOW ON ALL GENERATIONS WILL CALL ME BLESSEDFOR THE MIGHTY ONE HAS DONE GREAT THINGS FOR ME HOLY IS HIS NAME!Such powerful praise and adoration this Magnificat of Mary was. Mary, the virgin, so humble in spirit, thought of herself as the HANDMAIDEN of the Lord, perhaps still puzzled as to why she was chosen to bear the King of Kings, but willing and obedient to do the will of God.And the Babe of Bethlehem grew within her. Fiancé Joseph, of the lineage of David, sought to put her away but again, an angelic message explained to him what had happened, foretold the birth of this Son and the instructions to him that His name would be Jesus. Thereafter, Mary would be wife and mother for Joseph. It is incredibly difficult to imagine how this man 2,000 years ago would react. Nothing like this in human history had ever happened before. He, Joseph was chosen to supervise and support the birth of the Savior of the world. That would be impossible for any man to comprehend but Joseph, obedient like Mary, accepted the angelic explanation and this divine drama proceeded.Surely, Joseph could see the remarkable changes in Mary. For those precious months,Mary's soul glorified the Lord. She told all that her spirit rejoices in God my Savior.Surely that glorifying and rejoicing was well noticed, even participated in by Joseph.""Mary, the humble servant of the Lord knew what great things God had done for her and she was perhaps the first to live in a brand new, revolutionary state of praise and worship. Soon, that would be available to all mankind. Then came the decree from Caesar Augustus that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. Joseph, who belonged to the house and lineage of David therefore went to Bethlehem of Judea to register with Mary, since Bethlehem was the City of David. But the town was full and there was no room in the inn so that Mary and Joseph slept in a manger. And there, in that manger, Mary gave birth to a son and as a proud and loving mother, she wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger. Such were the humble circumstances of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, the Babe of Bethlehem, the Prince of Peace, and the Savior of the world.AND THAT IS THE REAL MEANING OF CHRISTMAS! That birth of the Savior of the world is what we celebrate at Christmas! This rabidly secular world of ours wishes to de-spiritualize this event and take CHRIST OUT OF CHRISTMAS. We who believe must never let that happen but rather band together in glorious praise and worship to the Babe and especially to the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let not, my fellow Christians, the secularists abandon the Christ of Christmas. So, Christ was born and there began the spreading of the Word:AND THERE WERE SHEPHERDS ABIDING IN THE FIELDS KEEPING WATCH OVER THEIR FLOCKS BY NIGHTAND LO THE ANGEL OF THE LORD APPEARED TO THEM AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHONE ROUND ABOUT THEMAND THEY WERE SORE AFRAID BUT THE ANGEL SAID TO THEM DO NOT BE AFRAIDI BRING YOU GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY THAT WILL BE FOR ALL PEOPLE THIS DAY IN THE CITY OF DAVIDA SAVIOR HAS BEEN BORN FOR YOU HE IS CHRIST THE LORDTHIS WILL BE A SIGN UNTO YOUYOU WILL FIND THE BABE WRAPPED IN SWADDLING CLOTHES AND LYING IN A MANGERAND SUDDENLY THERE WAS WITH THE ANGELS A HEAVENLY HOST OF ANGELSPRAISING GOD AND SAYING GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHESTAND ON EARTH PEACE AND GOODWILL TO ALL MANKINDHow interesting that shepherds were chosen as the first to hear this angelic enunciation. Shepherds were watchmen, observant, especially at night as they made certain to protect their sheep. They knew the heavens, the stars and their movements. They were familiar with the night and they could, like wise men and kings, identify and follow the STAR OF WONDER, the star which shone brightly that night over the City ofDavid, the blessed Bethlehem of Judea, where the Prince of Peace was born.""And those shepherds left immediately and they found Mary and Joseph and the Babe lying in the manger. And when they had seen him, they were the very first evangelists, spreading the word of this miraculous and marvelous birth, the message they had been told by the angel about this Babe. And that was the beginning of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. From then on, the shepherds glorified and praised God for all the things they had heard and seen even as we who believe do so today. We well say today as the shepherds and angels did then:GLORY TO GOD IN THE HIGHESTAND ON EARTH PEACE, GOODWILL TOWARD ALL MANKIND""Men and women search today for truth even as the shepherds did. The search is everywhere but the truth, the ultimate truth was revealed to mankind in a manger in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago. Wise men and women, who truly seek him, will find him there. Those who scoff, mock a virgin birth, the concept of angels, and the creation of a God–man will never, ever know that:NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GODNothing. But to find HIM is a most joyous, wondrous discovery. It is an epiphany like no other. The finding of the Babe is the finding of the world's greatest treasure. The power, the love, and the understanding which results from finding HIM is life–changing then and forevermore. That finding allows us to become as a little child, open and transparent, filled with love and compassion, fully understanding the GRACE of God and that gracious gift which changed the world 2,000 years ago. That faith in the Babe of Bethlehem is the key to entering the Kingdom of God, humbly trusting and believing even as Mary did of old. Women become handmaidens of the Lord as Mary did. Men become servants of the Lord as the shepherds did.So that, on Christmas Day, we discover the greatest present, the greatest gift one could ever find:THE BABE OF BETHLEHEM""The gifts we give to others at Christmastime can never begin to equal the gift of God to us. We should celebrate that gift FIRST and wherever possible, give the love of that gift to others. That is what Christmas is all about and that should never change. And we, like the shepherds should spread the news, the Good News. That is true evangelism and we who believe must never let that message die not only at Christmas but every day. The wise men of old found Him and the wise men and women of today, the truly wise who search will find Him. For in Him, it is all that God is. And that, as the angels well said, are indeed the glad tidings and the great joy for all.For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son to all humankind so that those who believe could have life abundant here and life eternal there. For those who""received this gift of God, there comes the power of God making them sons of God and daughters, life all brand new. Women praise the Lord like Mary of old. Men glorify the Lord as the shepherds of old. And that, and only that can bring peace to the world. The message of that Babe is the only message which can spread the goodwill of God and transform the lives of all mankind. May it be yours. We the Crawford Broadcasting Company, all of us, wish you a very happy, merry, blessed Christmas centered around the Babe of Bethlehem, and may the love of God in Jesus Christ be your very special gift this Christmas season. Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace and goodwill for all.CHRIST IS BORN!"

There's just something about the Virgin Mary. She stirs up big feelings - she has for millennia. Some have perhaps given her more prominence than she would feel comfortable with.Others have hacked down her statues in reforming zeal. Others never think about her, except when they come across a nativity scene in a shopping mall (and even that's becoming a rarity). So, it's time we met Mary properly this Christmas. This Christmas message explores the profound truth that the birth of Christ is the ultimate expression of God's love. Through Mary's extraordinary encounter with God, Pastor Matt Petty reveals five transformative truths about divine love: • God's love knows us intimately - even a humble teenage girl in Nazareth • His power manifests in unexpected ways - turning ordinary moments into divine appointments • His mercy extends beyond generations - from Abraham to Mary to us today • He lifts up the humble heart - choosing those the world overlooks • He faithfully keeps every promise - proving that no word from God will ever fail Through Mary's courageous response, we learn that true faith isn't about our worthiness but about saying "yes" to God's love. This message challenges us to move beyond seasonal celebrations to experience the transformative power of divine love that changes everything.

One of the most important questions someone could ever ask is: Why is the Virgin Birth an essential Christian belief? Costi Hinn continues his Christmas podcast series by answering this question and highlights important truths as he walks through Matthew 1:18-25.
Dr. Bart Ehrman claims that Matthew made a translation error and misunderstood the original context of Isaiah 7:14. If Matthew had known Hebrew and understood the context, he would have known that Isaiah was not prophesying a "virgin birth." If Dr. Ehrman is true, that means the Gospel story of Jesus is built on a lie. What is the truth? Find out in this in-depth investigation. God could have chosen any avenue to send His son to the earth but He chose a woman. Why would He do that and what does that say about a woman's purpose and value? We go all the way back to Genesis in this episode and talk about the prophecy of a virgin birth. Why did it have to be a virgin birth anyway? There are some who accuse the Bible of being sexist but after listening to this episode you won't agree. We're talking Christmas theology and keeping Christ in Christmas with this one. The Bible is filled with fantastic and miraculous tales surrounding the birth of Jesus. There are stories such as the Virgin Birth, the Roman census and the trip to Bethlehem, being turned away from the inn, necessitating Mary giving birth in a stable. There are the shepherds in the field keeping watch over their flocks by night, and the angels appearing to them and announcing the birth of the Savior. Later the magi or wise men appear, following a star until it leads them to the Christ child, after a quick side trip to Jerusalem to get directions. Those who show up in church after Christmas Day hear the subsequent stories of the presentation of Jesus in the temple and meeting Simeon and Anna. Then there is the Slaughter of the Innocents by King Herod as he tries to murder the infant Jesus, followed by the holy family's flight to Egypt to escape the murderous king, and their subsequent return to Nazareth. There are so many stories of Christmas. I call them the myths of Christmas. All the Christmas myths communicate spiritual truth. These truths often get lost when we get stuck on the issue of historicity. This is the problem with literalism. People's minds are trained to be so closed that they cannot be open to the glory of the eternal Christ in us and through us and in and through all creation. The stories of Christmas are much more profound than literalists imagine. They contain truths for all people and all religions, not just a certain class of conservative Christian who holds the right creed. The key to enjoying the Christmas season in churches at Christmastime is to listen to the stories with an ear to the deeper meaning. As you listen to the stories, interpret them as being about spiritual Reality here and now. Not events that happened 2000 years ago. These wonderful Christmas myths communicate timeless Reality available always. That is the Truth behind the Christmas myths.
