I'm a liberal Millennial and my uncle is a conservative Mormon. Our goal? To talk it out.
Today, the topic is on race and the controversy surrounding Critical Race Theory and the 1619 Project.
In this episode, we bring it on home with a discussion on why the home needs a father, why the nuclear family matters, and how religion plays such a huge role in some people's lives but not in others.
On today's episode, we discuss the current uprising in racially motivated crimes against Asian people in America. Also on the schedule, a review of the Daunte Wright shooting and its implications.
This time we review the recent voting law controversy in Georgia and the MLB's decision to move the All-Star Game out of Atlanta. Also on the conversation agenda is gun control and what exactly "defund the police" means to us.
A BIG question to answer today: is America really the greatest country in the world? How would we even measure that? Is it just a gut feeling or are there statistics that can shed light on this topic? This is a very special episode of Talkin' It Out Radio — our first guest host, Prof. Robert Neustadt, joins us for a talk about the U.S./Mexico Border. Prof. Neustadt explains the history of immigration through Mexico, the history of the Wall, and the socio-economic factors that drive people North. For us, this was an extremely enlightening discussion that presents the situation outside of a political context and places it where it belongs — in a humanitarian context. If you would like to purchase Prof. Neustadt's album, "Voluntary Return: Songs of Solidarity with Migrants & Refugees," follow this link: https://www.amazon.com/Voluntary-Return-Solidarity-Migrants-Refugees/dp/B07KZGCNKLIf you would like more information and how to donate to No More Deaths, here's the link: https://nomoredeaths.org/en/If you would like more information and how to donate to the Colibrí Center for Human Rights, here's the link: https://colibricenter.org/And if you would like to support our show, you buy us a coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/Talkitout

After the Jan. 6 Insurrection at the Capitol, Congress impeached Donald Trump for the 2nd time. Here are our reactions to that decision and what repercussions it may have going forward.
We had to tackle the elephant in the room this week: the riot at the Capitol Building. Beyond our reactions to the actual event, we also try to look back on what led to it, including the election results, the disputed votes, and Trump's role in it all.
What would you eat for your last meal? Turns out, Conservatives and Liberals can all agree that pizza will have some part to play in our last meal on Earth. Also, even though a vaccine has been created, there's still some debate on COVID-19 and what we could have done better in hindsight. Even though it's now 2021, we've still got 2020 problems.
In this rather friendly episode, we get into some lighter topics like our first cars, and our mutual and undying love of pets. Naturally, we had to shake things up a bit with a chat about hunting and animal rights. Lastly, we get into the idea of "mandatory" government service after high school and the benefits of service, both personal and interpersonal.
We went all over the place in this episode. From Eddie Van Halen to the Cleveland Indians to Native Americans to the Holocaust and the NSFW backstory to where Steely Dan got their band name.
In completely unrelated topics, we follow up our talk on climate change before switching over to a discussion on transgender issues. Are the polar bears really going extinct? How do we feel about gender identity? Again, it's a random assortment of topics but all of it matters.
We continue our talk about our personal beliefs as they currently stand. Then we shift over the climate change and the skepticism surrounding it. Finally, we get into some topics related to religion and how those beliefs might factor in to our overall worldview.
Let us introduce ourselves! In this episode, we begin to talk about our personal histories and how our upbringing, education, career, etc. informs our belief system. We had some technical difficulties with this episode so the conversation ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Hang tight for Part Two.
In this episode, we tackle post-election reactions, racism, and the flaws of higher education. And we solve it all!
