    Ivy Insights

The Curious Clinicians podcast is an absolute pleasure to listen to. As a listener, I have thoroughly enjoyed learning new things and being entertained by the interactions of the three intelligent, witty, and comradery clinicians. The hosts of this podcast deserve immense appreciation for the work they do in bringing curiosity back into medicine and taking listeners on a journey through the history of research.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is its ability to ask thought-provoking questions about curious findings in medicine. It goes beyond what we learn in med school or residency and delves into the "why" behind various medical phenomena. The hosts approach these questions with simplicity and brilliance, answering them in a thorough yet funny manner. Each episode holds something new and intriguing, keeping me eagerly awaiting the release of each episode.

As someone who consumes a substantial amount of medical podcasts, I can confidently say that The Curious Clinicians is my favorite. The hosts are not afraid to ask dangerous questions and challenge traditional knowledge in an engaging way. This podcast is educational and entertaining without becoming monotonous or overwhelming. It's a resource that would have greatly benefited me during nursing school and my BSN education as it presents lessons in a comprehensible manner.

While there may not be any glaring negatives about this podcast, one could argue that it follows a similar format to other medical podcasts. However, The Curious Clinicians stands out with its unique focus on answering "why" questions and unraveling medical mysteries like Sherlock Holmes. It brings back childhood wonderment by exploring what's under the hood of common medical things we encounter. Overall, it offers a refreshing take on medical education.

In conclusion, The Curious Clinicians podcast is an absolute gem for anyone interested in medicine or healthcare. Its lighthearted yet informative nature makes it enjoyable for all healthcare workers and students alike. The chemistry between the hosts is evident, enhancing the listening experience further. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone looking to expand their medical knowledge in an engaging and entertaining way.

This episode was a live podcast Adam and Tony gave at the Massachusetts Chapter of the American College of Physicians annual meeting on October 16, 2021. They track the evolution and controversies of the death exam, from a trans-Atlantic scandal surrounding a possible vivisection, a 19th century “X-prize” to determine a technology that could diagnose death, the important distinction between “permanent” and irreversible, and the mysterious Lazarus phenomenon.
