Master your minerals. Harmonize your hormones. Start your mineral journey here. What if the root of your child's health struggles isn't another cream, pill, or quick fix, but something much deeper? In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Nina Marie Rueda, a naturopath who works with children and families through a functional, integrative lens. Her own journey started during her first pregnancy, when she realized how little she'd supported her body and baby with nutrition. This pregnancy completely changed her perspective, and she went from wanting to become a university professor to birth work, nutrition training, and eventually naturopathy. We get into why minerals matter so much for kids, especially when it comes to challenges like picky eating, eczema, and sleep struggles. Dr. Nina explains how testing works, why hair analysis often gives a clearer picture than blood work for children, and what common mineral patterns she sees in practice. The conversation is raw, practical, and full of insights for parents trying to make sense of their kids' health struggles without getting lost in overwhelm. You'll Learn:How a Bradley Method class shifted Dr. Nina's path to naturopathyWhat minerals actually do in kids' bodies and why they're essentialThe link between taste buds, zinc, and picky eatingWhy hair mineral tests show the long game while blood work is a snapshotCommon mineral patterns seen in children with eczemaHow heavy metals disrupt gut microbes and fuel skin issuesThe mineral imbalances behind sleep struggles in kidsWhy parents' own mineral status affects mealtime stressThe reason some kids' multivitamins should avoid iron and copperHow minerals shape digestion, detox, and resilience in childrenTimestamps:[00:00] Introduction[05:47] Why minerals are the non-negotiable foundation for children's health[07:40] Hair testing versus blood work for understanding mineral balance in kids[13:05] Why picky eating in kids often comes down to mineral imbalances and taste buds[22:46] Eczema in kids and the role of mineral imbalances and heavy metals[39:43] How mineral imbalances and heavy metals disrupt children's sleep patterns[45:22] Choosing the right multivitamins for kids and why avoiding copper and iron matters[49:10] Making supplements part of daily family routinesResources Mentioned:Minerals & Gut Health Connection for Eczema Course | WebsiteGut and Minerals Free Resource | WebsitePicky Eaters Protocol | WebsiteFind more from Dr. Nina:Nerdy Notes with Nina Marie | SubstackDr. Nina Marie | WebsiteDr. Nina Marie | InstagramFind more from Amanda:Hormone Healing RD | InstagramHormone Healing RD | WebsiteHormone Healing RD | FacebookHormone Healing RD | YouTubeHormone Healing RD | TikTok

On this powerful episode, Ali sits down with Lacy Nicole—who you may have seen in the headlines for dating Jesse Lally from the hit reality show The Valley—but her story goes far deeper than Bravo antics. Lacy has endured the unthinkable: she survived a kidnapping before even beginning her infertility journey, and then faced years of debilitating reproductive health struggles—stage four endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, polyps, 28 ER visits, and multiple surgeries. She opens up about Lupron shots, induced menopause, internal bleeding, chronic fatigue, and the emotional toll of IVF, miscarriages, anxiety, and PTSD. She also talks about finding strength in the endo community, her current egg freezing journey, and finally finding a medical team who advocates for her care. Raw, honest, and inspiring, Lacy's story is a testament to resilience, community, and refusing to stay silent. If you've been in the CDI space for any length of time you probably know the name Fran Jurcak. After a memorable stint as an ER/trauma nurse, CDI and then consulting, Fran made an impact in ACDIS, serving on the CCDS certification committee and later the ACDIS advisory board. She authored and continues to author the CCDS Exam Study Guide. But what makes Fran unique is that she's never afraid to share her opinion—or make a big career move. Fran made the successful leap from traditional consulting into technology. And in the same manner that marked the rest of her career climbed the ladder all the way up to her current role as Chief Clinical Strategist at Iodine. So yeah, you might very well know Fran. But, what you might NOT know is she is winding down her career—she plans to retire from the industry in October. This episode is a fantastic, wide-ranging conversation recapping her full career. Fran brings a seasoned perspective on technology and CDI few can match, so it seems only natural to debut this episode in conjunction with CDI Week. Listen in as we talk about: Career progression from bedside to CDI to consulting to tech. How did she make the jump—and then advance? What does a fully AI tech enabled CDI position look like? How does the modern CDI professional work in this setting? How much of their clinical knowledge do humans still apply vs. reviewing machine output? How much of a job displacer is advanced AI, but what can't machines do, and who will survive the new reality? What mindset and skills do they need to have? The most important lesson Fran learned in her career. Her stint at CDI consulting OG JA Thomas: Their place in the industry, what she learned from them, pro and con. Heavy metals, chemicals, and hidden halogens are disrupting thyroid function and fueling Graves' and Hashimoto's. Millions struggle with weight gain, anxiety, fatigue, or unexplained symptoms, yet doctors often run only basic tests that miss the bigger picture. Dr. Eric Osansky joins me to unpack how toxins affect thyroid hormones, why most thyroid disease is autoimmune in nature, and the natural approaches that can support healing. In this episode, you'll hear why heavy metals and flame retardants are so destructive, the overlooked role of fluoride and other halogens in blocking iodine, and essential tests and nutrients every thyroid patient needs to know about. Dr. Osansky shares his personal experience reversing Graves' without surgery or radioactive iodine, and what he now teaches patients looking for real solutions beyond medication alone. This conversation could answer your questions about thyroid dysfunction, Graves' disease, Hashimoto's, or persistent hypothyroid symptoms. "Mercury is toxic to the thyroid. It can disrupt the thyroid gland, causing hypothyroidism. But then also a lot of people don't realize that it can affect the gut microbiome." ~ Dr. Eric Osansky In This Episode - Personal journey with Graves' disease - Hashimoto's vs Graves' vs hypothyroidism - Symptoms that signal thyroid dysfunction - How heavy metals disrupt thyroid function - How chemicals cause thyroid issues - Halogens and the link to iodine deficiency - Iodine supplementation controversy and protocols - Natural healing for Graves' disease and foods to avoid - Herbs and supplements for hyperthyroidism - Hashimoto's treatment and recommended testing - Thyroid glandulars and hormone replacement - Dr. Osansky's books about thyroid Products & Resources Mentioned: Bon Charge Red Light Face Mask: Get 15% off sitewide at https://boncharge.com with code WENDY, plus free shipping and a 12-month warranty. The forgotten power of iodine takes center stage in this enlightening exploration of thyroid health, immune function, and holistic healing approaches. Dr. Thomas Lodi reveals why this critical mineral deserves far more attention than it receives in conventional medicine, explaining how iodine deficiency undermines not just thyroid performance but our entire immune response. Most people living in iodine-deficient regions unknowingly suffer as their thyroid glands substitute bromide, fluoride, and chloride for missing iodine molecules, creating structurally similar but functionally impaired thyroid hormones. This substitution goes undetected in standard blood tests yet wreaks havoc throughout the body. The solution? A year-long restoration protocol using 25mg of iodine daily, paired with natural thyroid support to prevent temporary hypothyroidism during the transition.Beyond iodine, Dr. Lodi dives deep into his comprehensive approach to what he terms "chronically fermenting cells" (CFCs) – a more empowering and accurate description than cancer. By understanding these cells as fermenting rather than mysterious invaders, patients gain a clear path forward: create an internal environment where these cells cannot thrive. This reframing transforms the healing journey from one of fear to one of purpose and control. The connection between parasites and chronic illness emerges as another crucial piece of the healing puzzle. Dr. Lodi shares specific anti-parasitic protocols combining medications like ivermectin, fenbendazole, and niclosamide with proper liver support supplements. These treatments extend beyond parasite elimination to potentially impact chronic conditions through multiple mechanisms, highlighting the interconnected nature of body systems.Whether you're struggling with thyroid issues, chronic illness, or simSend us a text Join Dr. Lodi's Inner Circle membership and unlock exclusive access to webinars, healthy recipes, e-books, educational videos, live Zoom Q&A sessions with Dr. Lodi, plus fresh content every month. In this thought-provoking episode of Keeping Abreast, Dr. Jenn Simmons welcomes Dr. Jeffrey Dach for a powerful discussion on bioidentical hormones, estrogen, and the myths that have shaped women's health for decades.Dr. Dach draws from over 40 years of clinical experience and research to challenge the mainstream narrative that estrogen causes breast cancer. Together, he and Dr. Jenn explore how estrogen protects DNA integrity, why natural progesterone is vastly different from synthetic progestins, and how iodine and testosterone play overlooked but vital roles in breast cancer prevention.Along the way, they trace the history of hormone therapies—from DES and Tamoxifen to modern-day aromatase inhibitors—revealing both the progress and the persistent dogmas of conventional medicine. This is a conversation about evidence, empowerment, and the urgent need to rethink how we approach women's health.Because of its depth and importance, this conversation has been divided into two parts. This episode is Part 1 of 2.In This Episode, You Will Learn:Why estrogen may protect against breast cancer rather than cause itThe truth about estrogen receptors and how they shape cancer riskThe critical difference between natural progesterone and synthetic progestinsHow testosterone supports breast cancer preventionWhy iodine deficiency remains a hidden driver of diseaseThe historical evolution of hormone therapies—from DES to TamoxifenHow entrenched medical dogmas persist despite new evidenceEpisode Timeline Highlights00:00 Introduction to Dr. Jeffrey Dach & the Hormone Debate 08:15 Breaking Away From Conventional Medical Training 16:32 Estrogen Receptors & The Women's Health Initiative Revisited 24:48 Estrogen as a Guardian of DNA Integrity & Historical Shifts in Cancer Treatment 33:10 Pregnancy, Hormones, & Breast Cancer Protection 41:22 Estriol, BiEst, & The Work of Dr. Rebecca Glazer 49:55 Iodine's Role in Breast & Thyroid Health 58:40 Progesterone Deficiency, Progestins, & Cancer Risk 1:07:12 Pharmaceutical Influence, Processed Foods, & Inflammatory Triggers 1:15:36 Fertility Decline, Chronic Disease, & Why Medical Beliefs Resist Change

Often referred to as a “Goldilocks” mineral, iodine must be kept in balance—too little can lead to fatigue, thyroid dysfunction, and hormonal imbalance, while too much can exacerbate autoimmunity and disrupt delicate nutrient interplay. In this episode, we take a comprehensive look at iodine's role in thyroid health, fertility, immune function, breast tissue, and detoxification. We unpack symptoms of both deficiency and excess, explore the connection between iodine and environmental exposures like fluoride, chlorine, and brominated flour, and discuss important considerations for those with Hashimoto's or other autoimmune conditions. You'll also learn how to assess iodine status through testing, the validity of iodine painting, and the risks and benefits of different supplementation approaches. We highlight topical uses—from wound care and nasal rinses to support for fibrocystic breasts—as well as dietary sources like sea vegetables and seafood. The conversation includes a breakdown of iodized salt, the iodine-selenium relationship, and how to use iodine safely and effectively in your wellness routine. Keeping kids healthy can set a pattern for the rest of their lives. Dr. Prather says that 95% of a child's health care should be based on Structure-Function Care. In this episode, you'll discover:—Why Dr. Prather says that those who say that "kids are always healthy" are wrong because a growing child has even more health care needs.—How a child has an immune system based upon the Thymus, whereas an adult has an immune system based upon bone marrow. And why Dr. Prather says the difference in their immune system is almost like dealing with an entirely different creature.—The importance of Iodine in pregnant Moms for determining the intelligence of the child. And how breastfeeding decreases the chances of learning disability, allergies, ADD, ADHD, and Autism.—How to boost a child's immune system. And why it's important to develop a child's immune system even while in the womb by giving the Mom the right probiotics and prebiotics. —The necessity of an annual stool kit and an annual Hair analysis for children to measure the true state of their health. —How children are more susceptible to parasites and also absorb heavy metals "much quicker" than adults. And the CDC study that shows 65% of all children have a heavy metal toxicity.—The natural supplements for Colic that are "short of miraculous" in how they get it under control. And the "huge importance" of Vitamin D.—The reason Dr. Prather says that Homeopathy should be the first-line of defense in treating children and produces much better results than pharmaceuticals, which have never been tested on children. And why Dr. Prather says it's important to avoid antibiotics for children, but Holistic Integration can actually help make antibiotics work better when necessary by combining them with the right natural supplementation. —Why Chiropractic, needle-free Acupuncture, and Craniosacral Therapy are so helpful for a child's health regimen. And how Diathermy can provide immediate relief for a screaming child suffering from an ear infection. —And we'll reveal the details of our next free Holistic Integration seminar with Dr. Prather, "Building Healthy Kids From The Inside Out", on Wednesday, August 27th at 6:30 p.m.http://www.TheVoiceOfHealthRadio.com

THE BETTER BELLY PODCAST - Gut Health Transformation Strategies for a Better Belly, Brain, and Body
Iodine is the building block to healthy and happy thyroid. Without sufficient iodine, we can't build the very hormones that our thyroid gland is supposed to make - T4 and T3. So, if you have a deficiency of thyroid hormone, as is in the case of hypothyroidism - why are more doctors looking into iodine deficiency as a possible root cause behind hypothyroidism? That is a question I'm answering on today's episode, along with the even more important questions of: if you're doctor isn't going to test you, how can YOU evaluate your own iodine levels. And secondly, if they are low, how can you safely build them up again. There's a lot of controversy around iodine, both on whether or not we even need more iodine in our diets as well as if iodine supplement is even safe. That's why, on today's episode, we're diving into: Symptoms of iodine deficiencyWhy iodine in salt is not enoughWhy iodine testing is so hardWhat tests I recommend to evaluate iodine levels3 safety measures for an iodine protocolAccess to my iodine protocol I've used with my own clients If you're dealing with hypothyroidism, bloating, constipation, brain fog, fatigue, weight gain, or hormonal symptoms like estrogen dominance, PMS, or endometriosis - then this episode is for you.
